Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

08 Jan 2013 22:17:46
All these rumours re Bechio are doing my head in plus the persons who are saying sell him he is our highest goal scorer in many a season including Beckford. If they do sell him as far as im concerned Leeds deserve to loose fans. GHF came in stating they were here to get us to the next level and that the investment wasnt reliant on us getting to the prem now all we hear is we are looking to sell players before we can buy.............its about time they made a statement of intent

Believable17 Unbelievable2

At long last somebody talking sense!

Moore doom and gloom moaning just because we have not rushed in to buying any old player available.

I think the doom and gloom comes from buying EVERY old player available

Well done Bradford shows what can be done with effort, co
Commitment, passing on the deck and someone in midfield who can dictate.you put us to shame. JD

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Best post in a long time, hope the Leeds players watched what can be done with guts, determination, effort even when you don't have the ball.Oh but i forgot if we go up you will be let go to lesser clubs on lower money so not in your interest to get us promoted!

If we have money I'd love us to sign will Hughes, but if we havnt I'd like to see mcphail return, he would add a lot to our midfield.superb passer and creator. Saw him play in f.a cup and he looked good. Will Hughes tho for me is gonna be top class. Similar to howson with slight touches of gazza.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

I'd like Hughes at Cardiff City but like you we aint gonna get him. McPhail not a bad shout though. Good to see him playing again after serious illness. Put in a good shift, apparently

Take it we won't be signing the boy wells from Bradford anymore seen as his fee has just gone up a couple of million and we don't have that much to spend on a full team. Wtf wtf wtf is going on. Lets start showing some ambition and sign some young decent players.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

09 Jan 2013 07:29:25
We have the money to sign players its just competing on wages with the likes of leicester, blackburn and probably forest but if we did go for him and none of them teams went for him his wage would only be can't 7k so can't see that been a problem

Lol.what a joker .19 goals .who we gonna get that will score that many in a poor performing team.

Agree15 Disagree2

Yes you are the only one, He has 19 goals this season and will go on to score 35 in my opinion if we sell then shame on leeds united there will be uproar ! he has been mr consitent for us for the last 4 seasons !

Agree17 Disagree2

We perform poorly. Because of him! Glenn Murray has scored more, does this make him great? No.

Agree1 Disagree10

You don't need him to play well, you need him to do what a striker does, put the ball in the back of the net which is what Glenn Murray does, hes a cracking player and id love him in a Leeds shirt

Agree2 Disagree1

He's only the 10th all time Leeds united league scorer - it's not like goals win football is it...Ffs we need to get rid of Becchio as much as we need colonel Saunders back as owner

If Leeds are to sell Becchio I personally think it highlights the ambition and finance that GFH have to offer. Why should Leeds United sell their top scorer to a Championship rival if we have money already? Either GFH aren't as rich as we all hoped, or the team rumoured Nottingham Forest are throwing money at Leeds for Becchio and the club feel they can get a better placement for him for less? Yes Becchio is 29 and may not have years left but when he's scoring plenty of goals in a poor team then he is clearly doing something right......Diouf is in his 30's but has been one of our best players, age is clearly just a number in football, if you still have the brain, and your legs work then it shouldn't matter how old you are! I travel from Exeter home and away to see Leeds United week in week out and the same as most fans, put alot of my own hard money into following the team, and if GFH aren't willing to do the same then why did they buy us? We pay our money as we love our club and are very passionate about them but if GFH won't spend then there really wasn't any point in them buying our great club just to sit mid table in the 2nd tier of English football! I hope we are all proven wrong and GFH surprise us but 8 days into the transfer window Tonge looks like the only real name to be signing no shock transfers! I hope our loyalty is repaid by some near future success as us fans deserve it!

Come on Warnock and GFH get those players in!!

Is Bechio Movin ?
Whats the story regarding this ?
Ive seen this on a few sites !
Surely a load of garbage !! {Ed013's Note - I heard a few months ago (November) that Neil Warnock was unhappy with his work rate and would consider selling him in Jan so he could buy his striker target. Since then Becchio has done the business and won Leeds a lot of points and Becchio loves it at Leeds and he quotes "wants to score the goal that gets Leeds to the Premiership" I thought Neil had changed his mind, but with Mick Jones comments the other day, it makes me wonder whether he is inviting bids}

Most people on here like myself are waiting with bated breath to see if this squad investment goes through or not. No one is sure if the figure being banded about is including wages or if its just outlay on players. That said there is enough talent out there to be looking at some young players who would improve our squad and some untried but within our budget. A club of our size and now with supposedly fewer wage restrictions, should be able to attract the likes of Bridcutt, Trippier or Hunt and even Ryan Mc givern at left back. I know Bridcutt and others have been scouted by Pl teams but surely playing week in week out to establish yourself at an ambitious club ( and i use that word sparingly until i see G.F.Hs ambition) like ourselves Im not sure we will pay 2.5 for Dorrans but get a loan player in like Danns and Matthew bates which is the rumour i have heard. He will be free after next week after his short term loan expires. Wonder if thats why Tates deal was extended til end of Januaryand the loaning of Paddy to Ipswich.

Just watched the 2010/11 season review which I purchased for an impressive £1 in the Elland Road store.
It brought back some memories...I could still get passionate about every goal that was scored - the flair of some of the goals was brilliant, however currently I am finding it difficult to find any passion for the new team. Grayson's team had character and sole (although it couldn't defend a bottle of whiskey at a T-Total meeting), whereas Warnock's just doesn't have that same feeling. I don't feel an affinity with any of the players he has brought in - They don't seem to have the same passion for the club - they mostly seem to be mercenaries for hire.
It's quite depressing really...

Bearing in mind the dwindling attendances at Elland Road... we must assume, now that Bates has all but gone, that this is because there isnt enough investment/quality into the team. How wise, therefore, would it be to now sell either Beccio or Byram? Imagine how empty it would be if we replaced probably our two standout players so far this season with some new Varneys. Surely The new owners and Warnock are totally aware of this. I can't see either of them going this month. I think Jones has just opened his mouth, fairly out of line, without thinking, then people have assessed Warnock's half baked assessment (ie part explained what actually happened) of the deal with Woods going to Leicester, added the two together and understandably 2 plus 2 has equalled 5. It's kind of a PR disaster and one i would be surprised if they havent been bollocked for. Them two open their big mouths and the fans turn on club and owners and no one turns up to an FA cup game. Nice work management.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

Sorry m8, don't agree with ya, i think Mick Jones knew exactly what he was saying, inviting bids on our best players, so we can spend a miniscule amount of fee on over aged has beens. We leeds fans need the hope and the faith, which KB sucked out of us, returning or Elland Road will be a ghost town.this is not the way to do it.

Agree3 Disagree5

You are talking nonsense if you believe what you have just written about us wanting to sell our best players and wanting to replace them with inferior players has beens??, you are still fixated on Bates, please let it go now.

Please don't use your mates returning from Afghan as your excuse for having a go at a fellow Leeds fan, many people have links to that war. With a transfer kitty of near 16 million, Warnock is looking to bring in a CM in the form of Lampard for around 4 Million, especailly with his contract coming to and end this is possible for Leeds. In addition he is looking for a winger and a defender with one of these on loan, this could possibly be Walcott, on loan, or Gradel for 2 Million. The defender could be Dawson of Spurs, again on loan, or Lescott as he is not getting regular games at City. {Ed037's Note - I think they're very likely mate!}

Where is the, "sustained", investment gfh ?, no statements . No nothing. Very disappointed in David haigh. More like sustained asset stripping by the sounds of it. Yes fellow suffering Leeds fans ? So close to at least a play off place. Would not take much investing. Mot. Bob . Wakefield

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Mick jones has stated leeds are going to improve 4 positions and neil has been phoning up agents and clubs so far. It seems like GFH have given neil money as he also said in one case the guy over the phone wanted 1.5 million more than the value even though the amount was already high this must give leeds hope obviously that situation with more money being added on isn't good but it must mean they are looking at high quality players.

I think the Becchio rumours are standard stuff. There is always talk of someone going. I don't think he will go but it raises an interesting quandary.

I like Becchio and his goal count is fantastic and hope he stays. However a large number of his goals have been penalties this year and his pace is a serious concern especially when partnered with EHD.

Its impossible to say if another striker would have got as many goals or contributed more in games but if we are offered significant money for him it would be certainly worth a look.

I realise this won't be a popular post but its about improving the team. At 29 I'm sure he can't have too many golden seasons left. Should we cash in?

Believable8 Unbelievable6

What i want to no is, where is the icing on the cake, still waiting

Agree2 Disagree3

Completely agree with you pal. His knack for goal scoring is excellent, but his speed and touch are average. If we could get somebody like Charlie Austin or Glen Murray what would they be like?

Agree3 Disagree1

Don't think we'll get Austin would be great... But 2nd option Murrey would be quality EHD could feed him all day long he'd get hatfulls for us

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree but if becchio goes we have to bring in Austin or Murray . don't think anything else would do . either would prob me more effective in games Karl mot

LUST are by far the WORST set of supporters ive ever seen, how people fall for their dribble is beyond me, let them just sit in their armchairs and continue to write a load of rubbish, theyll get bored eventually when people don't read it

Believable11 Unbelievable6

I think someone needs to start another fan group as I'm sick of LUST saying they represent the fans. I think 6 or 7 thousand might have signed up once but don't believe they represent much of anything now.

Anyway the new group would stand for nothing out of the ordinary other than overshadowing LUST and their publicity seeking machine. How about calling it Love Leeds. Then its LOVE rather than LUST.

but we have to give them a chance.if becchio, byram and lees stay and we add quality to squad then that shows a statement.i really can't see gfh upsetting us fans so early on.i think mick jones was not very bright when he has openly talked about getting offers but he doesnt really seem like a sandwich short of a picnic anyway.
i actually say yes to clint hill as hes been playing well and is experienced and all we want is to get up.
but we need bright young attacking options.thomas to me a def nono, better about if we can get them.whats wrong with dj campbell as a diff option upfront.

danns off to huddersfield. would have been a very good option. Think we need to start making moves now on players or it will be last minute, desperate stuff. we need players who can take us into the premiership and stay in the team. Obviously a few faces will not make it in the prem but bringing in clint hill for now is not bad but we don't really want a brand new team getting to the prem as it will take a while to gel. I'm sure with Howson not playing many games, you think Norwich will loan him back until end of the season. We should take michael owen as he will bang the goals in, saha who is not playing. we really do need a good out and out goal scorer. Any thoughts?

Nigerian star striker Kim Ojo today stated that he will not play for norwegian club SK Brann again. When Rudy came from Brann, rumours said Leeds had interest in Ojo as well, but would cost to much. Could be worth a try... Big tall striker, tremendous in the air - but very fast and tecnical as well, with ability to perform high quality and unexpected moves and finishing. AND he has a special understanding and radar communication with our Rudy! His problem is lack of stability! At his best, he is true Balotelli quality - at his eorse, he is invisible apart from beeing flagged offside! His history is making a MASSIVE impact the first season in a club, then fade away. But he is still young, and may cope with this problem with the right management. If not, his first impressive/dedicated months could well bring us to the PL. Well worth a try - the man is a brand new attack, and will probably no longer be very expensive!

To me gfh missed a trick this weekend in the cup. It was obviously going to be a low crowd with xmas etc... etc.... Why didnt they have adults for a tenner and kids for a quid. Instead we had 28000 empty seats. Empty seats can't cheer, buy food, drink and merchandise can they. What bought it home to me this xmas visiting cousins in leeds. they were 9 and 11 years old they have a leeds kit but they also have a barcelona and chelsea kit. yes chelsea kit and i don't think this is an isolated case.Leeds kids are wearing premiership kits of there heroes they see in magazines and on telly. It's only the 8th Jan and we all appear to be panicking about the lack of transfer activity. With the exception of Chris Wood would you say we have lost out on any of the many, many players we are linked with? We're now concerned we may lose three of our best players, now that aint gonna happen. However, in my opinion and that's all it is my opinion, so feel free to slate! I believe Warnock will not be the manager at the end of the season and will try his best with dodgy loan signings until the end of the season. I think the new owners will then appoint somebody for the long game and trust that person with money for transfers. Even if NW is here next season he aint gonna get top players in January.

Very interesting month, see if the new owners are serious of taking our club forward
We are sat in a very good postion in the league, get quality in and we have a good chance of been in the play offs at the end of the season
If Beccs is going to be sold surely 5-6 million with the form hes on, and get a younger hungry replacement in the same scoring bracket

Another day gone with poor Nellie, sorry Neil, not well.
Enough for work. So what if he passes germs
On to prospects, it's not the plague just a poor
Little cold. I'd rather get our prospects signed
And have them ill for a week.
C'mon Nellie. I'm a self confessed impatient man
And I want to see action. Before we are left
With more dregs than we have already!

Imo Warnock has started all this panicking about transfers with his ill advised comments regarding Chris wood .so we don't want to pay a championship player 20 grand a week, if I was on the board at Leeds his position would be untenable how many other clubs went in for wood and were blown away by watt lecister would pay. a lot more clubs than Leeds .but you didn't hear there managers having a tantrum(cos that's watt it was)and in a national news paper to top it off .theb we have his pal mouthing off about big clubs in for Byram I wouldn't be supprised to see both lose there jobs. For grips misconduct that's watt it was IMO, Watt ever happens I have lost faith in Warnock. Acts like a big baby always has done get rid I say.Thing is I was told him being manager till end off season was part off terms off takeover, But surley they could get rid if they wanted.Didnt big gob say he would go if he thought he was not wanted by fans 100%, I'd say more than 50% want him gone reading comments from fans

Believable6 Unbelievable9

Not one to slag off warnock normally, but concerned he is getting players in who are past there best as a short term fix.he his probably on a bonus to get promoted this year.By signing these players on medium length contracts, will restrict us moving forward in the next couple of years, with warnock retiring the long term future of the team will not concern him.Write this season off, save any money we may have for the summer and a new long term manager.

Agree6 Disagree3

Why oh why do you fans keep saying write this season off and go for it next season with a different manager ? Who do you suggest we get? And when we do get your MR RIGHT whose to say the teams coming down from premier(with may I say large parachute payments too boot) will not be competing in all aspects of transfers/ top 6 positions etc etc are not going to be better equipped to not only sign players but keep their team together to mount an assault on championship against us thus making it harder for us yet again.... I wouldn't give up this season without kicking and screaming until the impossibility points wise of failure to reach premier, I don't care if Neil is on a fat bonus to reach Premier, who cares if we get there with over 30 year olds ... On short- mid contract lengths lets get their 1st then we can sack Neil(if you lot so wish) our club persona and profile would be as a large fan based Premier team rather than championship side.so we could attract a better quality of manager/ player to fight the coming season if we fall short and have to yo yo next few seasons so be it We would have EPL parachute payments to help NOT ONLY INVEST IN NEW PLAYERS BUT ALSO KEEP AND INVEST IN OLD AND YOUNG UP AND COMING HOME GROWN TALENTS.

Word is that the powers that be at Elland Road have noticed Luciano Becchio has scored far more goals than they thought he was capable of. Therefore he will be sold. Don't worry folks they have already got the replacement sorted though. Billy Paynter is in a private jet on his way back to Thorpe Arch. Problem solved.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Ha ha nice one. don't think he flash enough to be on private jet he only plays down road in doncaster .

LUST board need to evidence their latest claims and if they don't they should be made to stand down.

They have continuously put out information that is pure conjecture and is easily disproven. They have never been able to actually show facts and evidence to any of its claims or updates.

Why should be believe them when they have lied before, even further to this why should we believe them when available accounts disprove and discredit all claims made by LUST.

Believable18 Unbelievable9

Believe what you like pal but the accounts were checked by qaulified accountants including one highly rated by Bates himself. So get off your anti lust high horse as they know more than you could ever hope to know without doubt.

Agree6 Disagree10

The account figures pre date the takeover. Make of that what you will.

Agree2 Disagree2

LUST update is pure conjecture that is fact. If they could substantiate their claims then they would have they can't so they haven't. LUST have repeatedly been discredit and proven to put false information in the public domain.

The fact that the claim to represent 8k fans and have their voice adds no legitimacy to what they say. LUST and it's board have little to no credibility remaining.

If LUST have used said accountants as they claim they would have named then and the update would be supported by documentation presented by said accountants.

LUST blow hot air to serve there interest of gaining more money, look at the companies accounts they loose money year on year due to claiming of expenses by it's board members.

As much as we love becchio for scoring more goals than Torres and berbatov, the fact is he is 29 and possibly his better days may see no more soon rather than later but 4 million for a 29 year old striker would be too hard to turn down some of you may not like this but the money could e used to buy a young good striker, ONLY IF THEY ARE A PROVEN GOAL SCORER warnock will have his targets but I have a feeling becchio days could be numbered in a White shirt

Believable10 Unbelievable8

08 Jan 2013 03:23:03
4 million is on the boarder line, the question is can becchio be replaced for that amount and will it be best for the club.Im gonna say no because he's scoring goals and we are playing poor and it will be a struggle in January to find a decent young striker .

Agree5 Disagree2

I disagree with this on so many levels!

GFH need to be very careful here. We have a striker who has just made his way into the top ten league goalscorers of all time at Leeds - an absolutely fantastic achievement. He is one of the few of the better players of recent years to show any loyalty to the club. It's clear he loves it here, and the fans love him. Let's give him the new contract he deserves to repay his loyalty and keep the lad at the club.

It's far, far too easy to assume that if we do sell him we'll automatically find someone else with the money who'll be as good. It's not even as though we're talking in terms of receiving ridiculous amounts for him. Leeds fans should know this better than anyone - indeed in recent years we've seen players sold and the money not even be re-invested in the team.

GFH have a chance to show they genuinely mean business with this. Becchio is a modern day legend of Leeds United, we may see very few, if any, of his type again. I can't believe how many fans seem ok with the idea of him leaving. Without his goals this season we'd be in a relegation fight without a doubt. It's time to show him he CAN have his dream of playing in the Premiership, with US.

If our new owners do sell Becchio, after all the fuss and fanfare of the takeover, I for one will feel even more ripped off than I ever did, even by Bates. They need to look at the attendance on Saturday and realise that they have to make people fall in love with the club all over again. Selling the likes of Becchio is not the way to do it. In fact, speaking as a long-time Season Ticket holder, it may persuade me NOT to renew for next season. Just for once Leeds United, don't let us down.

So come on David Haigh and friends - SIGN BECCHIO UP!!

Agree12 Disagree3

Who says Becchio wants to stay, he may want a chance to play top football before its to late. He aint gonna get it with us anytime soon.

Agree3 Disagree7

I think you'll find he was interviewed in the programme for the Middlesbrough game, and he stated he'd like to stay at Leeds for a very long time to come.

Who says he wants to leave?

On twitter lust are now backtracking in this statement and are now saying Its been misread.

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm not sure what you expect the new owners to say.

The previous administrations books don't look great...nothing to do with us.

Some of the team and management are ill....so is half the bloody country at the moment.

People are speculating that we may sell players during a transfer window.... who cares its speculation. We don't need to sell (which they have already said) if we do it would be on our terms with a view to improve.

I think the above is obvious and an official statement about any of it would be a waste of everyones time.

It will be fine. If nothing has changed in 3 weeks then get on your soap box until then chill.

I have a question for you cos I'm confused What is LUST purpose
I thought they were meant to sport Leeds united our
Club yet they seem to be hell bent on causing
Trouble for Leeds united and why are they still suggesting
Their members stay away from ER
Didn't they say they wanted the best for the club
And wouldn't be satisfied til bates has gone
Well staying away means your hurting the club
And bates has gone all but in name
So you either are with us other supporters with no agenda accept loving our team or your against us and will do more to ruin LUFC than Bates did

Believable15 Unbelievable5

LUST board and its chairman can use its members as a revenue stream and a platform to stroke enhance their ego's. In all the time that LUST has been around what have they achieved?

Name me a single success of LUST?

They have repeatedly been disproven and have never ever substantiated any of their claims.

For me LUST are like Bates himself equally divisive and equally bad for LUFC

Calm yourself. Think about it in order to get football
League approval you have to show either no debt or debt will be cleared. Hence the football league fit and proper rules
They have spent the last few years trying to eradicate clubs with serious debt sout certain rules in place they wouldn't allow a take over that included debt

Imo I think Becchio may be sold for around 3 million, Byram for around 4 million, were not going to get 8 for him. As long as the money is invested in the right way NW could improve the squad overall even though I would be gutted to see any of them go. GFH said that they wanted the deal done for January so they could invest, hopefully this is true. We are lucky to be where we are in the league and no matter how much NW sugar coats his players he must know we haven't been good enough. Clint Hill is a good defender but again the pace and age worries me, just like Brown, Tate, Varney etc. NW should have a meeting with the fans as 90% of us agree about everything. To sum up the players who may be sold can be replaced but with top players leaving our club may become less lucrative. Vinny.
