Leeds United V Brighton

So here is my opinion of the match against Brighton, it is a little late thanks to the famous Man Flu that is going around so my apologies if I miss things as I have sort of slept since Saturday and the pre-match and post-match beers does silly things to my memory, especially when we win!!!

So after a really good performance we beat a very good team in Brighton, a team that I believe would go further this year with Poyet, not so sure about Garcia yet, but time will tell. The difference on Saturday was clearly that of a certain person leaving this club for ever!!!

The fans were brilliant and it must have given GFH-C food for thought, a couple more signings and a good start to the season will see Elland Road pass the 30,000 mark nearly every home match. An average start, well we have to continue to support them and Brian, trust me, good things are coming at Leeds United and Brians 3 year contract means there is a short term, but more importantly a longer term plan if we fail to achieve promotion this season.

Kenny - A silly mistake when he cleared the ball the width of the pitch instead of kicking it up the pitch, but what a couple of saves he made to keep it at 1-1. Match winning performance from him 8/10

Warnock - Solid, a potential Captain in my opinion and has the experience at the back to help the younger lads out. Also good going forward 7/10

Pearce - I felt he was a little nervous and a tendency to wander in the game, but a good finish to the match will have done him no harm. 7/10

Lees - Solid and had huge potential, 1st choice at the club, but I feel he needs that older, more experienced head next to him 7/10

Peltier - Another solid performance, he does wander a little and at times he frustrates when you need him to make those runs forward 7/10

Green - What an engine he has, ran all of the game box to box, another potential Captain in my opinion and contender for man of the match 8/10

Tonge - A very good performance and on my shortlist for man of the match, he is very good at going forward and having Murphy and Green next to him allowed him to create things 8/10

MURPHY - MOTM not just for his com-posher on the ball, work rate or the winning goal at the end, but what a player we have here. He never stopped going and he is so confident on the ball. What a debut to make ER react like that on the 94th minute. Well done Luke 9/10

Hunt - Not the best of debuts and subbed for Poleon. He himself will admit it wasn't his best, but lets remember he has had a niggling injury and the game time at ER will have done him the world of good. I can see a very good player there and he has my full support 6/10

Varney - Jeckyl and Hyde this guy, #VarneyArmy will be famous at ER for good and bad things! I wish he would use his pace better and look for that killer pass, at times he is ball greedy. Again he showed that he has the potential to beat players and win the ball in the air 6/10

McCormack - Great movement for the equaliser, he has good creative ability and switched throughout the game with Hunt and Varney. Another player that could be Leeds United Captain. 8/10

Poleon - Great potential, pace, movement and the ability to go passed players. He livened the game up and should have scored 7/10

Drury - I like this player, very composed, came on for an injured Warnock, but good to know we have his experience as back up. Didn't do much wrong in the short space of time on the pitch that he had 6/10

Smith - Came on for Varney and set up Murphy for the winner, his aerial ability is going to be a great asset this season. Not much time in the match to do anything wrong. Has a lot of potential 6/10

Every Leeds fan walked away from this game with a massive grin and I am sure many will be back for the Sheff Wed game. I must admit I had this one down as a draw and I am gladly proven wrong. A CB is a must for the next signing and after that a winger.

If Murphy hadn't got the winner I was edging towards Tonge for the MOTM
