Heard a small rumour from a colleague that there's a young lad that plays in Scotland called Kenny Mclean who has attracted the interest of Neil Warmock after he spoke to Eddie Gray in a pub in Kirkby overblow. I have seen this lad and he has serious potential, I'm sure he was linked with Burnley and Everton last season.
Also, if it cash plus Morrison for Becchio then I'd welcome it with open arms, Morrison has more to offer and he wants to play football.

Agree0

"He seems far from prolific as a goalscorer." He is a proven goalscorer at this level. Scored 17 goals last time he was in the championship, and what I remember of him, very strong with a great eye for goal.
A plus side is he can play the ball along the ground even though his is probably more of a target man. I honestly believe his overall game play is better than Becchio's. Will be a good edition, and one that will be an exciting signing.

Norwich fan Morrison has a good head but is lazy he runs for 45 mins then second half he just does nothing and CHris h likes players who work hard. I like Morrison but he just is not a prem player worth the gamble for us and just hope becchio scores 10 this season lol we also after hooper still.

Morison - 184 goals in 405 games and you complain!? that's nearly 1 in 2.5 game ratio! (40 in 95 games for Milwall in the championship - unproven)!

Scot MOT! {Ed037's Note - Michael Ricketts once played for England mate, but that doesn't make him a great player - agree with everything else said though!}
Agree0

Warnock has a lot more pedigree than rickets. I know he was only capped twice, but he did go to the world cup in 2010, and would have got more capps if it wasn't for injury and cole/baines. He has also played 15 times in the champions league. So he's used to the big game. I think we need experience in defence, and if he gets his fitness up, he could do a great job in this division.
Agree0

Morison scored most of his goals in lower league football. 10 in 53 for Norwich and 1 in 20 games for Wales. He has no skill and his strike rate at a higher level is rubbish
Agree0
Disagree0
We're not at a "higher level" though are we, just give the lad a chance, some of you so called fans are shameful, who do you all expect?! Would you rather we spunked £35m on andy Carroll?! Horses for courses boys, give them a chance FFS. Every game he played against us for those dirty lions he tore us to pieces
Agree0

Yarp on Scot? mentioned in once. if you're happy with the mediocrity that each season provides then so be it. but don't get on your high horse because i'm annoyed that 3 of our best players have gone to norwich, and now our top goal scorer will join too. what does that say about us?
miserable boring fan, i'm a realist. why can't we hold onto these players, with the new investment from gfh. we've brought in tonge, got a young evertonian for a month, signed hall who warnock doesn't play and kept byram until next january when norwich come knocking again. its hardly setting the world on fire.
we can talk until we're blue in the face about potential targets but the reality of it is; we will spend next to nothing; bring players in on frees who other teams aren't interested in; talk about players who we missed out on because we can't compete.
sorry state of afairs

If we just get them 2 and becchio goes then its embarrassing and disgusting
Agree0

Exactly what was the point in signing hall never gets a chance. We need a winger striker cb and left back
Agree0

What about Barkley?
Why do so many people believe we have to be constantly looking over our shoulders every five minutes for somebody new. We have some great talent at the club and yes we could do with a few more, but here's something new, instead of constantly moaning and complaining, and I know this is going to sound a little new to you, but how about getting behind the team.
First off S.Warnock is a great player, who can still play at the top level (the same reason why Big Sam wanted him), Barkley is unquestionably an amazing opinion (personally believe we should be working hard to secure him till the end of the season), and Tongue and Hall everyone knew we wanted them.
Sometimes you have to work with what you have, but that's football, seriously we are not the only team in the world, and not everyone wants to join Leeds. January is always a bad time for teams, and other teams are allowed to sign players without us wanting them you know? It's like Russell at Dundee, may be going to Palace. They got 15 million for one player, cause they are going to invest it. Leicester got Wood, Hull have brought in players who was already at the club on loan, we were never going to compete with them.
If Becchio goes then good luck to the lad, but we cannot stop players from wanting to go for money. If he wants 30k a week, then let some over silly club pay him it, but against Tottenham we stopped playing huffball and played a great passing game. Sometimes I honestly believe people won't be happy until we are financially crippling the club again.
Neil Warnock made a valid point, people increase their prices just because its Leeds. Every manager since our relegation from the premiership has said how difficult it is to bring in players to Leeds. January is such a tough month to buy in and I suppose if we had have forked out 35million for Carroll you would have been happy. If the players are not available their is nothing you can do. Look at Jerome Thomas, WBA got an injury meaning they wanted to keep him. Leeds won't sell Becchio till we have a replacement in, just like every other club won't sell their players unless they get a replacement in.
Anyway rant over, and have a lovely day, :)
Agree2
Disagree0
Look if clubs aren't willing to sell the players we are after then there's nothing anyone can do about it, if Warnock enquired about 10 strikers and all of the clubs said no its tough.

Suppose Steve Morrison will be a old replacement for Becchio. He's done well at this level before

It seems due to Birmingham's financial state teams are trying to grab their players on the cheap... what goes around comes around I suppose.
Forest have reportedly bid £500K for Burke which was turned down, Wolves are supposeldy in for Curtis Davies and Marlon King.
Don't want King but I reckon £2m for Burke and Davies might swing it... good additions IMO. What do you think Edmeister general?

Do you really think we've got £2 million to play with? i'm getting tired of listening to this kind of wild optimism now....

It isn't wild optimism, it's basic finances. If we get any cash from the sale of Becs then we are led to believe it will be put back into the team, hence my post. I'm sick of negative comments from people like you... now toddle off you little ray of sunshine you!

Have to agree with the original poster on the finances however curtis davies will be on serious money as he signed on prem money.
Me being ever the optimist though, if we could swap Morison for Becchio, sign Burke and Warnock, I don't see why we can't begin to challenge. Our downfall this season has been no winger to supply for a big striker, look how effective we were with Thomas. A winger is crucial!

The Basic finances are that Becchio will go for an undisclosed fee, probably in the region of £2 million pounds, as did howson and snodgrass. Whilst this fee sounds a lot, it will be paid in installments, its full value based on future performances and other clauses. This means that there are not two million pounds to spend, just a smaller intial sum, plus a longer term drip of income over the next few seasons. This will be used to fund other transfers in the future, and the running costs of the club, along with paying off debts accrued on stadium work and propping up less profitable areas of the club, such as yorkshire Radio. For this reason, we didn't have millions to spend when we sold Delph, Snodgrass, Howson or any other of our prize assets, and the sale of Beccio to Norwich, a club who also can't afford to chuck millions around in one go, will be no different. OK, we might get Morrison in return, a reasonable signing in our situation, and be able to get a loan player or free/ very cheap signing towards the end of thier contract in. We certainly won't be waving £2 million pounds around for anyone. If i'm wrong (and It'd be nice if I am), then I stand corrected, but some of the rumours around at the moment are crazy, and show very little understanding of the real position the club is in. i'm not being negative, i'm being realistic. Lets see what happens tomorrow shall we?

Suggestion is S. Warnock will move on a free transfer to us and take a considerable cutin his current salary of 40k, maybe some players still see us as a good bet.

It'd be great to see him at ER, however thje only players we sign are average grafters, hence we will stay in the Championship until we invest.

In today's current bun that Hooper and Becchio are signing for Norwich today with cash + Steve Morison coming to us.
Great move if true, Morison done very well at this level and should be a good enough replacement

Morrison is dreadful, it would be an awful move. No money is being invested in the club and the family silver is still being sold off

Why are we paying a million on top ?
What is wrong with the management at elland road, never make any money on our players

I'm a Norwich fan if this is true you could be getting one hell of a good deal. Morrison has amazing potential & if he has a good few season I could see him being worth 15m .
He has been inconsistent at NCFC & looks abit lazy. I think Warnock would get the best out of him

Amazing potential, go back to your own rumours site, he's 29.

At age of 29 he hasn't got a good few seasons his value will drop after 30

Morrison has done ok at this level....but no way near as good as Becchio has done!
Agree0

Morrison would be great for Leeds, he's proven at Championship level - big and strong a proper target man to work with Ross - you people need to get real, what do you expect Rooney, Messi etc
Agree0
Disagree1
We expect a player who is not coming to the end of his career, who has some skill and might score some goals. Morrison is none of the above. Did he score most of his goals in Div 1 he has only scored 10 for Norwich in 51 matches. He has no potential whatsoever
Agree0

The deal for Morison is that WE pay Norwich £1m PLUS Becchio for him, not that they pay us cash and Morison for Becchio. Not a good deal in my opinion :-)

Morrison is the same age as Becchio and has scored 10 goals in 53 games for Norwich, better to just have the cash and buy a forward who is younger and scores goals, then we can sell him to Norwich in a few years
Agree0

So that would mean we would be effectively paying about 3-4 mill for Morrison. Is he worth that?
