Tomiyasu on a free anyone?

I’d take that as serious comp for Bogle, that magic age of 26 again, prob pals with Tanaka, tall, strong.

Good player, can play multiple positions - bargain on a free if he could stay fit and low risk if wages were tailored to performance. Injury record last few seasons would be a concern.

2.) 04 Jul 2025 19:40:40
I think he’s out injured for another long period?

Drawing towards the end of another week with no signings!

As corky said in a reply earlier, there is realism.

Rumour wise we’ve gone from Paixoa, Perri and Muniz to Sergant, Boga and Gunn!

Come now, that’s an insane drop in expectations.

I really want to believe in the recruitment but they have given us nothing to rekindle that belief.

Are they just managing the fans expectations with these tier 3 rumours.

First pre season game is what 9 days away.

We still have Gyabi, Greenwood, joffy, Meslier, Harrison and Bamford stinking the place out.

So, now we’ve seemingly missed out on Longstaff as a third bid is rejected.

Now it’s getting worrying, so we missed out on Diarra, Sidiki, Longstaff so we are now down to the 4th option as a midfielder and we apparently need 2 midfielders.

We won’t get perri or Stach, not now that Lyon has successfully appealed the relegation, they’ve already said Stach would be difficult.

Now either we simply don’t have the funds to make this window work or there’s something very wrong with our strategy, it took weeks to get Bijol and Gabi done, I don’t count the other 2 as they’re just bench fillers.

Why on earth are we spending money on expanding the stadium when surely the bigger priority is to build a squad capable of staying and becoming established in the prem then worry about expanding.

It’s stinks of ingnorance, arrogance and naivety.

I do contracts in my sleep and attack the window aggressively

May we’ll be word that come back to haunt Parag.

I sure as hell hope I’m wrong but something isn’t right and I’m very concerned now.

We’ve been linked to these players for months and yet nothing is moving on.

Dave0123

1.) 09 Jul 2025 19:38:01
Entirely agree. We seem to be more interested in the deal than the end objective. The best deals are where you both come out feeling a bit miffed, not I got one over on the other guy.

2.) 09 Jul 2025 20:04:10
Exactly Dunelm, you’re not telling me that when we first approached Newcastle for Longstaff that they didn’t quote the desired fee of £15m!

We can’t expect to stay in the “best” league in the world by being cheap asses.

I’ll say it now, we won’t get Perri, Stach, Paixoa, Savic etc.

Unless they get their thumbs out their bums we haven’t a prayer of staying up.

3.) 09 Jul 2025 20:16:30
Leave him where he is as he’s not worth anymore.
It’s not as if other clubs are knocking down the door to sign him!

4.) 09 Jul 2025 20:30:58
got to say it, but is anyone on here suprised with our transfer policy. Its been happening for the last few years, sell big and don't buy. that's the impression i get. Also i think we will struggle because of this. i just give up with all these rumours same S*** different day. Until we actually compete financially we are'nt going to get any better. Buy hey guys maybe i'm bieng pessimistic and i don't trust Parag, there is nothing that has convinced me yet. Maybe there will be some big signings but i'm not counting my chickens, would suorise me if Longstaff went to Burnley or someone like that. i know what we need but we are the kings of the problem. there's only 5 weeks till the big kick off, will we get a goalie, probably not. so all i'm saying guys is i'm getting rather peed off at the lack of effort going in to sign quality. we are a worldwide club, a big club. let's prove it Parag.

5.) 09 Jul 2025 20:40:16
obviously some errors there, should read kings of the problem. and it would not suprise me if Longstaff went to wherever *******.

6.) 09 Jul 2025 20:56:06
Thing is guys it's not as easy as just going shopping, it has to be the right player at the right price, you can't set a precedent of being a club that will pay whatever is asked. Its complicated. We missed out on Diarra and Sidiki yes, but were we that interested at that price. You can't say we have missed out on Longstaff when Newcastle are playing hard ball, is he worth much more? I dunno, but we have to spread our money wisely. Time will tell but I have every faith in our club to be ready come August.

7.) 09 Jul 2025 21:43:56
Could always get pants down Pete, or Radz' right hand man back in? Spend a load of money we don't have, or just buy in a load of foreign mercs with escape clauses?
Nah, I'll stick with what we have now, and save my moaning till the window is closed, cheers. ??.

8.) 09 Jul 2025 21:44:48
Let’s put it this way. Before all the Longstaff talk and say Sunderland or Burnley signed him would you be saying they’ve got themselves one good player there and Leeds United missed a great opportunity? ’
Be honest now lads.

9.) 09 Jul 2025 21:50:23
If we missed out on an occasional target I could accept it but we seem to have several players on our list who we lose to teams who we are likely to be battling with next season. It's not new. There is a long list of players who went on to better things who we were interested in but couldn't clinch the deal-Gakpo, Cunha, etc.

10.) 09 Jul 2025 21:56:15
Well vidfc, how much would you pay for him because I would be gone by now 3 bids already and the last 1 being 12 million look, that’s way to much you re saying about the Sunderland buys yet Leeds was in for both and lost out yet they were both internationals and played at good level, yet longstaff hardly played any football last year, so Leeds should get well away from that one also they were both 20 yrs old and longstaff 28 now his he better than we ve already got no. , but the stach thing just goes on Leeds must pay the right deal or they ll pull out aswell come on there’s better out there for the money they re asking for longstaff or willock we’re not paying for them to bring in better players and like corkey, as said no other teams rushing in for them pull away from it now hopefully.

11.) 09 Jul 2025 21:57:11
Vid mate on what basis have you so much faith?
Already missed out on numerous players for one reason or another.

12.) 09 Jul 2025 22:04:17
Is the Longstaff deal floundering due to Newcastles CL squad having to have "X" amount of home grown players and they stand to lose a squad place if SL leaves now?
Is it possibly a stalling tactic until they fill the gap?
MOT.

13.) 09 Jul 2025 22:09:44
Well Corkey, I understand the frustration, but we just don't know who our top targets are, apart from knowing Bijol was. Now say we pay over the odds for players we would like and end up without the funds to compete for our top targets later then that would be remiss. I base my faith on what has happened since last year when the recruitment was Bob on. We also need to consider wage structure, what did Sidiki and Diarra demand? Just because they have a fat fee doesn't mean they would be game winners, time will tell as I said. JohnH, I am with you, I would walk away from Longstaff now and I have a feeling you may be surprised by the Stach outcome. But of course lads, that is just my personal opinion.

14.) 09 Jul 2025 22:28:51
They'll probably take 5 million a day before window closes.
Move on, buy a better player from Germany for less.

15.) 09 Jul 2025 23:10:34
2 MONTHS LEFT . calm down. You don't even know for sure how keen we were on these players that we 'missed out' on.

16.) 09 Jul 2025 23:16:26
The club have enquired about north of 80 players. We aren't going to get them all. The few you hear about are just the tip of the iceberg. Plenty of others that you won't have heard about yet trust me.

17.) 10 Jul 2025 00:27:50
The more the window goes on I am starting to think a bit like Dave 123, are we ding the same thing again with the sell big by small, but that’s what will take us down I also think something is not quite right aswell, because is it they don’t trust df pros it something else because we was told 150 million to spend and also proceeds of player sales so sounded really good now I’ve seen we have 120 million all in now already sold players and got rid of firpo, but all buys so far really cheap and 1 on free, also learning tonight Leeds want to bring Buendia, in on loan now he s a bit of quality and they said they were prepared to take 10/ 12 million for him yet we want him on loan does nt make a lot of sense also was looking at Callum Wilson, free Calvert Lewin, free just not buying for the players we want but we won’t survive the premiership like that, starting to make me think aswell what’s going on.

18.) 10 Jul 2025 01:54:08
Bloody hell John, you’re talking about going down already and the season hasn’t even begun yet! Jesus mate give it a chance, listen to what Alf says as he makes good points, Brighty, Aus, Vid, they are legend posters and they make lots of sense, so get a grip and give it a chance, if we are rock bottom at Christmas then you can be as negative as you want, until then you just got to believe.

Like I said above the 49ers are no mugs, they are not new to this and they are very serious about us going forward and if they didn’t trust DF then he would have been gone! We have had a lot of bad owners, think on that and be grateful for what we have. Also remember PSR has been a game changer, a lot of teams at the top got ahead of the PSR before it was introduced, so they made the most of it, then one of the richest owners in the world bought Newcastle United and they haven’t been able to spend like they would of before PSR, so maybe just maybe the 49ers have that in mind as well!
Believe my friend ???ALAW ???.

19.) 10 Jul 2025 06:44:37
Well said Alf, and Woody, and a great point Ady re CL places!
People panicking already could do with some fresh air and a nice, refreshing walk. Although I DO understand the concerns!
Moan about starmer on a politics site or somat!

20.) 10 Jul 2025 08:19:11
Morning Brighty,
For me mate it’s not so much panicking about the transfers it’s more frustration.

We were told x, y and z by the club and they aren’t doing that.

The heave had months to be working on these deals and yet seem to take forever to get anything done, where others appear to be getting stuff done faster and swiftly.

We need ant Stach, we’ll get it done then

Savic, pay the release clause then.

Livakovic, they want €10-12m we offer €7!
Offer €4 + meslier.

Etc etc.

21.) 10 Jul 2025 10:13:34
Good post Dave, and please don't get me wrong bud! I do get the frustration part, but I think the club are playing it right following the "every penny counts" path. A few mill saved could pay the wages of an excellent free transfer, or keep us safe from PSR this time next year. Based on their work to date, I have total, but not blind, faith in the 49ers.

09 Jul 2025 14:12:38
Looks like Adringa from Brighton is now going to Sunderland, €21m + €3 in add-ons.

Why are we seemingly so slow getting any deals done?

Dave0123

1.) 09 Jul 2025 14:50:16
Tight budget most likely.
Ground expansion.
Business men. Don’t like being said no to and sulk.
Not desperate.
So many reasons.
One thing 100% sure. They live or die in prem 100% on their decisions.

2.) 09 Jul 2025 15:30:45
Brighton almost invariably get teams to overpay them.
Good chance that's the case here too and we won't do that if we were even interested.

3.) 09 Jul 2025 15:52:15
Overpay?

The tea lady now in any prem club costs minimum, madness I know but that's now where it's at

So 20mill is now unbelievably low for premiership player.

4.) 09 Jul 2025 17:12:28
Lots of type errors in my current moment

Tea lady costs minimum £5 million

Last line should read
20 million is now low for a prem player

Unbelievable I know,

Should make a bit more sense now ?.

5.) 09 Jul 2025 17:25:35
Recruitment over the last two years has been solid, no disasters and some gems! So far so good for me. Solid buys with a clear plan and the defensive side of the team largely in place minus a key keeper and still some money to splash on the exciting areas. Byram a good addition! And Bamford looks like he is doing everything he can to make an impact. Lost Webber and Firpo so far largely as expected. I think we’re building a sensible premiership squad with perhaps a few gems missing but some cash to buy them with!

6.) 09 Jul 2025 17:25:39
I know Blunderland got plenty in for Bellingham, but if this goes through, what is their net spend?

7.) 09 Jul 2025 20:40:46
They spend 60-70% of what they got for Bellingham on a player they already had in their squad, Le Fee.
Time will tell how their recruitment has been but they seem to pay whatever they are quoted currently.

8.) 09 Jul 2025 23:13:37
About £110 million so far spent Feath. They will spend about £200m in all likelihood.

Will lose half the team for AFCON though.

9.) 10 Jul 2025 06:48:59
Such spend now, will impact their ability to strengthen in the coming windows, and it's a big gamble doing so. They're going to be pushing the line on PSR for quite a few seasons on the back of it. We will not.
On that, the club have done magnificently to manoeuvre us past those pitfalls, with all the poorly structured deals on Orta's Mercs. They need some credit for managing our finances!

08 Jul 2025 21:25:10
Happy to get Gabi in FINALLY!
Happy with Longstaff link
Happy with Stach link
Happy with VMS link

Not so happy with Muniz

Not because of his ability/ profile, it’s more the cost around £40m.

I don’t want us to shoot our load one 1 striker given that Piroe is untried in top flight football and Nmecha is clearly not a starter it’s our luck we blow the wood on Munoz and he gets injured and leaves us short between transfer windows.

Me personally I’d rather if we do get Muniz then maybe still get a Wilson/ DCL as additional cover.

Just worried as we’ve been here before!

Dave0123

1.) 08 Jul 2025 22:52:44
I think we’re building well, good value and sensible additions that strengthen the team and the back of the team. Don’t think we will get Munoz or iz, someone else will come out of the shadows, probably a better buy! GK is the next key addition for me, we have attacking options but no real premier league keeper, so that’s the key!

2.) 09 Jul 2025 05:35:33
Fair point about striker dav. Didn’t think of the injury side of things. I’m torn on prem league experience or starter. Could probably get two first team starters from abroad for 50 without prem league experience or settle for second or third fiddle with current prem team.

3.) 09 Jul 2025 11:56:16
That’s not making any sense to me either you would nt be paying 40 million for muniz, with out going for Beto, first for 20 million and keeping 20 million back for another player as that’s a much better deal same like players yet Beto little bit quicker, Leeds must think about these things will also give them better quality for the bench.

02 Jul 2025 14:16:06
So it’s looking like Sidiki is also going to Sunderland, reported fee €17 + €3 in add ons.
My thinking is, either we are really poor at getting the bigger deals done.

Is it a Farke thing?

Were we even actually serious on the 3 that have and are going to Sunderland apparently over us?

I know it’s very early but it is a worrying trend.

We have to get this window moving, 3 signing in but only 1 is a first team pick.

Starting to get a little concerned as I think most will be now.

It’s time for the recruitment team to really step the hell up.

Dave0123

1.) 02 Jul 2025 14:42:06
patience patience.

2.) 02 Jul 2025 14:59:42
I'm not worried in the slightest. Come the end of the season Sunderland will be down, needing to sell these players to reduce their championship wage budget, whereas we'll be safe and looking to build for a second season in the premier league.

Time will tell, but I think we will add quality to the squad. I don't pay any attention to the media talk, it's all rubbish. Only Farke and the 49ers truly know who we are after.

As the the 'Farke Thing' no I don't think so. Looking at the type of football Leeds have played in the last two seasons, who wouldn't want a piece of that. Yes, it's going to be harder in the premiership, and no, I don't think people will be put off by Farkes runs in the PL with Norwich. Everyone knows that Norwich didn't invest and never had the capability to compete in the PL. I genuinely think Leeds and Farke have an opportunity to become a top 8 PL team again.

Keep the faith - MOT.

3.) 02 Jul 2025 16:15:58
The window is open for another 29 days until it "SLAMS SHUT! " So no need to be hitting the panic button just yet!
Seems to me that the club is methodically working towards signing players who have been extensively scouted, long identified and we've managed to keep a lid on things so far.
I would imagine there's been and will continue to be a lot of data being crunched at ER!
The process looks sound so far.
MOT.

{Ed001's Note - is it not closing on 1st September this year then?}

4.) 02 Jul 2025 19:01:14
Bang on Dave. I’m not worried, well not yet!

I’d agree LAD2, first linked with him like 2 weeks ago.
We do seem to be very slow at getting any deals agreed and over the line.
So many rumours around though none except Gudmunsson and Stacy seem to have any validity, yet these 2 have been rumbling on now for weeks.

Personally don’t rate him that highly ( for us anyway)

Also he won’t want to be in a relegation fight.

He will probably end up at Leverkusen or Dortmund or Sunderland.

I agree, I’m a tad worried despite it being relatively early days.
Problem is we were told months ago the we would attack this transfer window aggressively, word used by Parag.
Now I attack any bag of crisps aggressively.
This is no aggressive attack on transfer window.

I don’t want to throw shade on Adam Undeerwood but for me it’s a very naive move having a novice in the roll in our first premier league transfer window, this is the most important transfer window we will have and I feel more experience was/ is needed alongside Adam.

Time will tell, but I’m not overly confident.

I’m not sold on rumours like Sargent, etc we need better as the first choice striker but I guess all transfers are a huge gamble, but Sargent I find very underwhelming.

It’s a worry that we still need arguably 8-10 signings to bolster the starting lineup and the squad/ bench.
2x lb
1 x Rb
1/ 2 x gk
1x cdm
1x atm
1x LW
1x RW
1x ST

Along with some player sales.
