Not the news a lot of us were hoping for re; timescale of bringing in a new CF and LB.

Beren Cross is reporting a back up GK is going to be our next signing (wild guess that it's Ben Foster in a GK/ GK coach role. ) Pwr the article:

"Irons remain in the fire on transfer business for Leeds United, but a goalkeeper looks likely to be the next addition at Elland Road. A striker and a left-back have been mentioned as targets by Jesse Marsch too, but a back-up stopper is understood to be the next arrival.

It remains to be seen what Leeds do in attack and at left-back. Deadline day is four weeks away and with so many moving parts in the transfer window, a lot can still change.

The money is there for a forward to be signed before the window closes, but as was the case with De Ketelaere, any target would need to tick a lot of boxes and Leeds are prepared to wait. No left-back has been credibly linked with the Whites thus far and it remains to be seen what progress the club have made in that department. "

Looks like we are going to be waiting a little longer for thise signings.

Was hoping we could get a deal sorted ASAP for a LB, as I think that's the priority.

Hopefully taking time to get the right targets pays off instead of knee jerk purchases just because we are a bit light in certain positions.

Dillinger - while the itk local journos seem to be feeling there is very little in the offing at the moment, with GK likely next one in, it is always possible that Orta is keeping his cards so close to his chest on the CF and LB front that even these journos are being kept in the dark as to what he’s currently up to - things may or may not be closer than Beren Cross and others currently believe.

2.) 03 Aug 2022 22:22:43
Will see Clu. Be nice if there was before Sat, but if not I can wait as long as it's for the right players.

3.) 04 Aug 2022 06:27:53
Yep Clue. As you call them the “ITK” journos more after than not, know nowt. They get it wrong very often, and as for Fabrizio, I’ve seen more insight on bog roll.

Phil Hay stated in a Q&A for The Athletic on Sunday evening that Adams is 'not someone Leeds are focusing on as a priority at this stage'.

However, the reliable reporter added in a story for The Athletic on Monday that Adams may 'come onto the radar late in the window if other options fell away'.

1.) 02 Aug 2022 10:22:22
Good Striker please asap

Also LUFC officially confirm this morning that Geldhardt, Summerville and Greenwood have signed contract extensions for Leeds.

2.) 02 Aug 2022 11:56:40
I guess you now know what your buddy VO has been doing!

3.) 02 Aug 2022 12:00:41
No improvement on bam rod or gel
Why bother. ?.

4.) 02 Aug 2022 12:24:04
Apparently talks are currently more advanced with Kalimuendo after a fresh bid has been submitted. We're also still taking a hard look at Martin Terrier. No bid submitted as of yet.

Seems those are the main targets. Adams is a fall back on if we can't strike a deal with either of the aforementioned.

Leeds have added LB Miguel Gutierrez from Real Madrid to their transfer shortlist according to a journalist from Mercato.

Handful of first team games but has mostly played for Madrid's Castilla.

Only 20 years old. Haven't seen the kid play so anyone with any knowledge of him would be greatly appreciated if they could share.

1.) 27 Jul 2022 11:13:31
Have watched YouTube clips of him which suggest he has good technique and a wand of a left foot - great delivery for crosses and free kicks. The clips don’t show so much of his defensive play, but looked fairly decent in what was shown. Obviously YouTube reels can make almost anyone look a world beater, so I’ve checked through some local media reports on the lad, to seek a more rounded view of his ability. The reports are very complimentary, suggesting also that he has great spatial and tactical awareness both in defense and attack, and should be seen as a genuine heir to their veteran Brazilian LB Marcelo - if their football director can resist his usual urge to cash in on one of their most gifted academy products to help fund another star signing.

Young Gutierrez did have significant health issues last season (I can sense Baz would try to have a field day if Orta chose to bring the lad here) . Apparently he struggled with debilitating IBS for a number of months, but returned to play for the second string Castilla in early February, playing in a run of 8 matches, in which he picked up 6 assists. Unfortunately, he then picked up a meniscal injury, but returned for their final game.

His recent knee injury is perhaps one of the commonest injuries and is unlikely to lead to any longer term issues. He is very highly rated by local sports journos, and if his IBS issues have been eliminated or are at least under control he could be a very good signing.

2.) 28 Jul 2022 15:16:17
Cheers Clu. Obviously the issues are a bit worrisome, but he does sound like a cracking little player. If we could get him for the right price and his issues clear up could be a nice bit of business for us.

23 Jul 2022 13:14:30
Quite a lot of talk on twitter that AC are pulling out of the CDK deal. Brugge won't accept less than our bid and AC not willing to match.

Nothing reported by the big journos/ outlets yet but sounds positive if rumours are correct.

We may be getting CDK ?.

1.) 23 Jul 2022 13:31:38
Honestly think we will!

2.) 23 Jul 2022 14:12:06
Dilli I know a good tactic to persuade him to come to Leeds. Inform him that the second half of his name is our city river. Then get thousands of Leeds fans to attend the river holding their household kettles. Also ask Leeds City Council to organize powerful white ? blue ? and yellow ? light show at the river.

26 Jun 2022 09:53:27
According to the Daily Mail Leeds are preparing a £26m bid for 21 year old Belgian forward Charles de Ketelaere. He's played as CF in 20 league games this season and is viewed as such by Leeds according to Phil Hay.

We're also looking at options for left back, another midfielder and an experienced GK, with Ben Foster being discussed, according to Daily Mail

Cody Gakpo, Tyler Adams, Otavio, Adama Traore all being looked at, while 18 year old Gabi Dyarko all but a done deal from Citeh.

Positive moves being made.

1.) 26 Jun 2022 11:15:47
CdK would be a great signing, and arguably a long term upgrade on BamBam.
Foster is a no brainier for me as he would’ve push Meslier as well as being the experienced mentor that he not had for two years. All good signs imo. ??????.

2.) 26 Jun 2022 12:52:11
Completely agree, Brighty.

Sinisterra, Cooper and Forshaw on the bench Saturday. Marsch said there's the possibility of Sinisterra getting limited minutes this weekend.

Marsch also reiterated we are looking at players but stressing they need to be the right ones: "I think we are being aggressive in evaluating what's out there. Try to find the right fit, more than just a number, position or player. Every decision needs to be the right one. "

I do agree, don't just buy any player. Their style of play needs to fit into our team and system. Understandable it takes time, but all the same I'd hope we can speed things up a little.

1.) 11 Aug 2022 14:24:48
Dilli Way things are shaping up I can see a couple of "don't go to bed ?️ just yet" signings complimenting BORG's Ovaltine ?. LB acquisition should be more straightforward than the striker but the latter is even more important.

2.) 11 Aug 2022 14:32:26
Lol Georgeth kettle will be on

Any clues as yo your inklings . let me guess Che Adams again.

3.) 11 Aug 2022 15:04:45
BBOORGG Apparently Soton have done yet another u turn and have said he's now unavailable for transfer. It seems the EPL clubs have woken up to fact that even if you lose your best players on a free, it's a risk worth doing because it can help sustain you in the league for another season and it's supposed £177M riches. Adams may leave on a Bosman. As for who else we go for, if Terrier doesn't tick the pressing box I really don't know who else they can go for other than Diaz at Blackburn.

4.) 12 Aug 2022 07:10:54
Everton looking at Adams now, which will be a relief, but he will then bag a brace against us, 90% guaranteed! ?.

11 Aug 2022 07:17:47
Beren Cross reporting links with Sarr and Mata are unlikely to materialise to anything. We aren't in for Che Adams and apparently Martin Terrier doesn't tick enough boxes. And to cap it off it looks like we'll be sticking with Struijk and Firpo as our LB and LB cover.

Really does show most media reports, especially those from abroad, are geberally fiction.

Does beg the question, who are we actually in for behind the scenes.

1.) 11 Aug 2022 07:53:47
As far as I’m concerned of late we’ve only made an offer for the Belgian striker which failed. If there is another interest, we won’t know it until the deal is pretty much done or a offer has been made.
All the players that have been touted over the weeks gone by, I imagine not single one was on the Leeds radar.
All journalistic speculation.

2.) 11 Aug 2022 09:40:00
Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well OP. Hoping ?.

3.) 11 Aug 2022 10:48:56
So did we only have one striker target?
We are supposed to have list prepared of others if cdk didn’t sign.
Who are they then? If none of the mentioned. Is there any others left?

4.) 11 Aug 2022 11:55:55
Have to assume there is a list and they are keeping it close to their chest given we've lost out this window after offer went public.

5.) 11 Aug 2022 12:04:48
The old LUFC Achillies Heel, struggling to sign a LB or Striker.

6.) 11 Aug 2022 12:45:52
OP lol
Surely not even you believe that PR disingenuous Radz your 'saviour's was genuinely looking to. sign CDK . Radz knew it was a given that CDK was only ever going to Milan

It was a Radz PR stunt.

7.) 11 Aug 2022 13:26:28
Whether it was a realistic bid or not, it was still a bid for a player, if a player comes in now, it’ll be like Robles, out of the blue and through the back door.

10 Aug 2022 14:27:18
Bit worrisome another target has gone to another club instead of us.

Kalimuendo has agreed terms on a five year deal with Rennes for €24/ 25m according to Fabrizio Romano.

Not sure who we have our eyes on now as media are mostly misleading, but Lukas Nmecha or Georginio Rutter would be brilliant for us.

Still a few reports linking us with Mergim Berisha. I'm not against it as it would add some depth, but ideally we want someone capable of challenging Bamford as a starter.

1.) 10 Aug 2022 15:14:16

Are there any good international strikers in the MLS? . that maybe a source.

2.) 10 Aug 2022 15:34:51
Baz there was one but we missed out on him also!

3.) 10 Aug 2022 15:39:57
I forgot to mention Emmanuel Dennis in my previous post as well. Prem experience is obviously a bonus too. Seems ge may be available as a loan with an option to buy. Which does diminish any risk.

Well Baz, not MLS but, a USMNT player I have become a fan of is Haji Wright. He's an interesting player and possibly worth a gamble. Big (6'3) , athletic and strong lad. Runs channels well and is deceptively pacey, especially for his size. Really solid link up play thanks to a sublime first touch and awareness and he has a real knack for peeling off in the box and making himself space. Previously scouted by Dortmund. Was on loan at Antalyaspor last season and they've taken up their option to buy him for peanuts. Scored 15 and 2 assists in 35 games in Turkey. Would add an extra wrinkle to our attack and at set pieces, for sure. A cheeky £4m bid may get him tbh.

4.) 10 Aug 2022 16:43:22
Cheers Dill for the info ?.

5.) 10 Aug 2022 18:20:35
Such are the problems when certain players do not want to come to your club.

6.) 10 Aug 2022 19:43:07
Yeah, pretty disappointing OP. Seems the allure of Leeds is not there for some.

Still plenty of talent out there and time to get a deal done.

07 Aug 2022 10:53:26
Hmmm, some posters are quiet when there's positive stuff that's happened.

Hahaha, just pulling your leg, lads. What a great result that was.

Aaronson is an absolute baller. Great day, great start to the season. Plus the boys won me some money as an added bonus.

Got a lot of faith in the squad this season. We looked sharp and was nice to have players of a higher caliber than last season be able to come off the bench and make a difference. Nice to have a bit of depth throughout the squad.

1.) 07 Aug 2022 11:16:49
Great result Dill vital win 3 points on the board

but also could have lost that game but for Meslier brilliance

Defence still a problem looks like conceding every game so will need at least 2 goals to win a game

Team and Squad strength must be improved

A pacy LB,
A potent CF a must

esp with likely injuries during season

And a pacy CD ( loan) would be wise as our defence is slow.

2.) 07 Aug 2022 12:34:14
True Baz, we could have lost it without Messlier, but I’m all fairness, that’s what he is there for. In contrast, we could have also won it comfortably if VAR did it’s job, BamBam header a few inches wider etc.
Let’s all just accept we played well and won.

3.) 07 Aug 2022 13:09:17
Yes MG agreed

I staf8ed yesterday on here at the final whistle we generally played pretty well; and delighted ofc with the 3 points

Always wise though to look to see how important improvements can be made MG.

4.) 07 Aug 2022 17:14:14
Baz pal, glad you don’t hide after a positive result, and two good posts just there.
Think Brendan got some undues during pre season, but showed his real abilities yesterday. Also, Klich. Made a big difference when he came on. I could understand if he wanted to leave, but I’d rather he stayed and fought! Good player still.

5.) 07 Aug 2022 20:31:37
I think you can buy as many pacy defenders as you want but our style will create opportunities for teams that break quickly and move the ball around. Think the style needs to be adjusted to ensure defence is more of a priority at least at certain times in the game. Our style now seems to be a more conservative version of Bielsa, so should concede less but still think we’ll concede and need to take those opportunities.

Will see what happens, but it's not a transfer I like. Prefer Dennis over Sarr all day long if we're raiding Watford.

Would take Mata for a year or pay as you play deal. Be good having his experience to pass on knowledge to our young contingent of midfielders and could potentially unlock games off the bench ala Hernandez in his twilight. I'm convinced he could do a job for us as a squad player. Wages would be the only concern.

The guy is massively inconsistent, plus we have plenty of wingers already. I don't get it. We don't need a other player who's a winger but has played CF a few times.

It's scandalous really. They've clearly broken FFP rules last season and now they're just taking the piss.

There's not a prayer you can be £255m in debt over the last FFP cycle, sell 1 player for £60m and then spend another boat load of cash on multiple transfers, signing bonuses and loan deals, and still be withing mandatory FFP guidelines. It's bollocks.
