Per Sky Sports (Florian Plettenburg) :

"Update #Aaronson: He still wants to leave Salzburg in summer. Negotiations with Leeds are still ongoing. RB rejected offers from #LUFC in winter. But they still want him! It is said that Leeds is the favourite. Price tag: €25-30m. No release clause. Big talent! "

Music to my ears that we're still in for Aaronson, and at a decent price too.

It's also reassuring to see we're showing willing regarding spending that (potential) Raphinha transfer money.

Per Fabrizio Romano:

"Raphinha's contract includes two release clauses: 75 million in case Leeds will stay in PL, 25 million if relegated. That's why Barcelona are waiting to make their opening bid. 🇧🇷 #FCB

Personal terms not an issue. Barça are in advanced talks with his agent Deco since February. "

Confirmation regarding release clauses. £75m would be great business.

Not true though according to Phil Hay. Only the relegation clause exists.

18 Mar 2022 10:26:33
Phil Hay notes Gelhardt is a doubt for tonight's game, although stresses he MAY still feature. Seems to be a back injury he's nursing.

Bate and Shack also doubtful.

Phillips and Cooper available, too.

Several outlets reporting Leeds have interest in signing Seko Fofana from RC Lens.

Not seen him play myself but Robin Bairner, who reports about Ligue 1 for Goal, had this to say about him.

"If Lens sell Seko Fofana to Bunrley (or anyone else) for €16.5m (£14m) , they're off their heads.

Fofana has been Ligue 1's best midfielder for the last year. "

Apparently £14m bid from Burnley already rejected, so price could prove to be a hurdle.

Got a feeling we’ve been out priced already. 😔.

2.) 14 Jan 2022 14:41:42
He's the one player of all those linked so far that would tick all the boxes throughout the spine of the team. Can play as an 8, a 10 or a 4/ 6. Some of the highest performance stats in Ligue 1. "Rolls Royce" of a player, as they say.

3.) 14 Jan 2022 14:55:35
if that's just £14 we might be in with a chance. i think we will go for as high as £17.50.

4.) 14 Jan 2022 16:51:27
With them paying the plane fare Alfie 🤣.

5.) 14 Jan 2022 20:50:02
Naturally Chris.

6.) 14 Jan 2022 21:53:28
I’ve bought a double lilo to pick him up. With his legs, we’ll be here yesterday.

7.) 15 Jan 2022 13:08:25
Worth £17 alml day him, ligue 1 bargain like Raph.

13 Jan 2022 17:04:07
Nahitan Nandez still a potential target. Calgiara have now dropped their asking price to £16.5m according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.

They've also indicated Calgiara would accept a loan with option (obligatory if some conditions are met) to buy, with initial payment of £1.5m for the loan, which I think is a much better option for us in Jan.

1.) 13 Jan 2022 17:19:12
Fingers crossed, again!

2.) 14 Jan 2022 09:43:39
Don't think he's even under consideration, he has some pretty damning legal issues incoming. Have a Google!

People on here rattling off some poor signings today.

Cmon lads. We can do better than 90% of names mentioned.

First and foremost we want players who compliment our style and formation. Secondary we want players who've had a great season in their respective teams and leagues, and thirdly, we really want internationals as it shows their quality beyond their own league.

I wouldn't settle for anything less than BRENDAN AARONSEN (already a done deal pretty much so won't elaborate)

*SEKO FOFANA - CM. Box to box mid in the mould of Yaya Toure (RC Lens captain, Ivory Coast International and in the Ligue 1 team of the season - was arguably the best player in the league 21/ 22) . Unreal talent.

*LUKAS NMECHA - CF, but also has versatility. Big, strong, creative and a finisher. (Wolfsburg striker, played CL football this term and is a fully fledged German international. Played for Citeh, knows the league. Has come on leaps and bounds this past season) .

*OLA AINA - LB, RB, LM, RM. Versatile af and a real quality operator. (Nigeria International, Been one of Torino's standout players this term, Played at Chelsea, Hull, Fulham and knows the league. Has improved exponentially in the past 3 seasons. )

Why settle for sh! te when there are exceptional, young yet experienced players available in Europe who also know the Prem.

Be smart with our transfers to improve the team, not bang average players who don't improve the first team one bit.

Sorry for the rant.

1.) 26 May 2022 18:03:08
Dillinger, great post mate,

2.) 26 May 2022 18:04:43
Dillinger - I’d be happy with any/ all of those. We were linked with both Ola Aina (supposedly fell through due to injury to Torino’s new RB signing) and Seko Fofana in January, and were first linked with Nmecha in 2018. Orta is hopefully still tracking all three, but I guess other clubs will be too, so I hope that if we are working on any of them it’ll be under the radar until they turn up for a medical, ready to sign on the dotted line.

With Aaronson now signed, Orta is said to be hoping to tie up one or two further deals in the next couple of weeks, to get our plans for the summer off to a decent start.

3.) 26 May 2022 18:10:13
Good post Dillinger can someone forward these players details to Victor Orta and Co.

4.) 26 May 2022 20:03:51
Baz - I think you’ll find Victor Orta and Co are more than aware of those players.

5.) 26 May 2022 20:08:55
Fecking stop it Baz. New season, new chapter. Just breathe!

6.) 26 May 2022 21:51:06
Yes Clu I do know ; my comment was a tad in jest however I do wish I was more trusting of Victor's capabilities.

Ok ok ok got it 😃 Calm down Brighty lad.

7.) 27 May 2022 05:16:51
Hopefully we get some mire deals tied up in the ext few weeks, Clue. Get them integrated ASAP.

I realise my list would be a perfect scenario, rather than reality, but targeting that level of players should be out priority. None of them would break the bank either. £20-30 each at most. Aina probably less.

And if Raph goes there would also be an opportunity to replace him, too.

I think we've got plenty of squad players, but we really need first team starters, and these would all fit the bill, in my eyes.

My ideal team for 22/ 23:

Meslier (with a veteran back up GK to push him)

Aina
Llorente
Koch
Drameh

Phillips
Fofana
Harrison
Aaronson

Nmecha
Bamford

Squad players:
Vet GK (I'd take any of Johnstone, Foster, Begovic)
Dallas
Ayling
Struijk
Shackleton
Cooper
Forshaw
Klich.

8.) 27 May 2022 05:17:53
Cresswell
Summerville
James
Gelhardt
Greenwood

(Sorry in 2 posts, I hit reply by accident)

9.) 27 May 2022 13:11:04
Dilli GK wise I'd like us to go for Pope.

10.) 28 May 2022 09:03:00

Aaronson deal pretty much finalised. Great signing. Looking forward to next season now.

Dillinger

1.) 22 May 2022 22:02:00
Yep. That’s good news, a good start, and more to come. I’m, as usual, very positive for next season. Get the right reinforcements, then a top half, comfortable finish will do just fine. And to counter the “Raph doesn’t care”, just spend a few minutes watching his reactions to goals, and the final whistle.

2.) 23 May 2022 05:15:22
Loved it mate. He's Leeds through and through. but also don't blame him if Barcelona comes knocking.

3.) 23 May 2022 05:52:48
Not the reactions of a player who wants to leave the club, I’d imagine.
Let’s see, never is it a good thing to lose your best player, no matter how much you are offered.
I sincerely hope Radz does everything he can to keep him at our club.

Why would we want a striker back that has already played for us and didn't really perform well when he did?

Far better targets out there. We can and should aim higher.

Yeah, we should always be looking for upgrades, but CB really low on the list atm, considering current talent and lack of depth in other positions.

Kind of a weird one. CB not really a priority, given we have Coops, Llorente, Struijk, Koch, Cresswell.

CM, LB and CF all a bigger priority this summer.

JORDAN PEFOK
*Availability: £5-8m
*Current Salary: 13k pw

TAIWO AWONIYI

LUKAS NMECHA
*Availability: £20-25m, although Man City currently have a buy back option with Wolfsburg.
*Current Salary: 10k pw
*Interest From: no current links
*Notable Contributions 21/ 22: The German international has scored 10 goals in 28 games for a languishing Wolfsburg side. He helped Germany U21 to a Euros title in the summer.
*Attributes: Pacey, impressive movement, creates himself space, strong finisher, penalty taker, nice touch, cultured feet and very energetic runner.

LUIS JAVIER SUAREZ
*Availability: £15-20m
*Current Salary: 18k pw
*Interest From: no current links
*Notable Contributions 21/ 22: Granada have had a poor campaign in La Liga this season, but Suarez has still contributed 7 goals and 4 assists, despite a distinct lack of creativity from midfield.
*Attributes: The Colombian international is a direct runner with skillful feet, composed finishing, pace to burn, good interlinking player with neat movement.

Personally I'm a big fan of NMECHA. He'd be a perfect addition to our first team and would compliment some of our attacking players very nicely. His past experinece with Man City also helps with his acclimation to the Prem. I would expect a smooth transition.

LUIS JAVIER SUAREZ would be a great addition, too. Especially if Raphinha does leave, as he has the ability to roam out wide and make incisive runs in when not playing centre forward. His versatility would be welcomed, but he's a strong CF nevertheless and would be challenging for a starting place up top.

GYOKORES is also a strong, cheap option who would add strength in depth to our first team, although possibly more of a squad player than starter, but with immediate potential to grow into a regular starter.

Realistically we will struggle to sign a Prem level experienced striker for what our likely budget will be, so we need to take a measured gamble on players such as these who have the capabilites to fit into our team and hit the ground running.

I can't see us spending much more than £20m on a striker and I wouldn't expect us to given other areas are arguably more important this summer, namely central midfield.
