Archie off to Brentford for £35m it seems.

Devastating.

No chance.

2.) 29 Jun 2024 17:22:05
My confidence in the 49ers stewardship of this club is dwindling.

3.) 29 Jun 2024 17:46:35
A deal up to £40m not to be sniffed at.
Now let the other bidders enter the game. This one ain’t over yet!

4.) 29 Jun 2024 23:39:07
I'll be sad to see him leave. He's a cracking player and a Leeds lad.
We can't be selling all our assets or we've no chance next season.

5.) 30 Jun 2024 08:03:36
Whoever we sell, will be replaced. I would also be sad to see him leave, but an acceptance of a fee like that, means he will definitely be leaving, but I think it will be elsewhere, and not Brentford.

This is really out there but I was playing Football Manager 2024 tonight and at the end of the first season. got a bonus of 1.5m from Bournemouth on account of their staying up (avoiding relegation clause) from the Tyler Adams deal.

Anyone know if this is genuinely in the deal or not. Sounds weird but FM has a way about it, the level of detail in the game can astound so worth wondering about.

ive not heard anything about that - maybe just in the game?

Leeds being linked with Pantelis Chatzidiakos from Alkmaar for a relatively low fee (around 2.5m) .

Also reports that we're still (yes still) talking to Liverpool about Phillips for a fee of 10m if all adds on are met. So a bit cheaper than the direct 10m that was being talked about earlier if i understand it.

He'll need an extra large shirt regardless.

Apparently west ham are looking to terminate callum wilson per Athletic. If he's fit and we are looking at moving Piroe on I'd definitely look at a deal for him til the end of the season. Maybe offer him the chance to train with us til the end of Jan and if we like what we see offer him a six month deal or maybe even incentive of another year say if he scores five league goals.

He's been there and done it. He's very much doing what Danny ings did last year and 4 goals in 18 without starting much is a pretty decent return and not far off what Nmecha is doing.

Sell Piroe for 10m+ promotion add ons and offer Wilson similar terms to his West Ham incentive laden deal we end up with money to spend and a more experienced prem striker. Probably too wishful and depends a lot on him being fit enough to earn that contract.

1.) 05 Jan 2026 23:25:22
I actually thought Piroe was alongside Tanaka out best player at the weekend despite only 12 minutes!
It was a poor performance so turned out to be a great point
He still has to go as it’s so bad for his career sitting on the bench and his value for Leeds is diminishing by the week.

He’s not going to get a chance barring mass injuries to show his worth which is a shame. Get 10-15 million and reinvest in the squad.

2.) 06 Jan 2026 07:23:33
As was said our players looked tired he has had a good long rest and was only on for 12 minutes don’t see how that makes him one of our best ??‍♂️.

3.) 06 Jan 2026 08:05:56
He's a cracking guy, and put huge effort in to be our fittest player before pre season. Talented player, with a good finish on him, but just not what we need right now. 10m would be a slap in the face for him and the club tho! Min 15m, plus add ons.
And agree re Wilson! Would save money for another signing too!

Now that we're in January, the positions I think we need to try and strengthen if we can are Striker, Full/ Wing Back and 10.

But with PSR it would be hard (allegedly) , and I'm in no mood to give footballing authorities the chance to punish leeds for something.

Full/ Wing back - the new formation with five at the back is clearly so effective for us but stretches the defense. Struijk starts most games so if something hits Gabi we're stretched on the left side particularly given Justin is already covering Bogle fairly often. Byram a great servant but I wouldn't trust him to start anything but dead rubbers or cup games against lower oppposition. A left-sided natural full back (not a centre back who can play there) would be real nice.

A 10 seems to be something we wanted for ages Buendia, Buonanotte, Ross Barkley (inj at the moment) . I do want one if nothing else to have more options

A centre forward as a more reliable backup for DCL and Nmecha is a 'nice to have rather than needed'. If we stay up, either a revitalised Gelhardt, the funds from selling him, or a growing Harry Gray will likely feature.

Basically, its a case of we don't need to add unless its right but there are players we could defintely be rid of. We can't seemingly spend heavily this window and tbh we don't seem to need to. The right player or right loan will help but we're not desperate like some clubs and that needs to be the message.

Hi all been a while since I posted so merry Christmas to all!

I was quietly on the Farke out train ahead of City down here in London and my work supporting Leeds mate and I were convinced he was gone. Full credit to him.
Try and get one loan in at 10 if we can but I hope they don't rock the ship too much the spirit is so obvious to see. And the quality is getting there too.

Gotta put in a word for Brendan too. What a few weeks it's been for him. Lovely assist vs liverpool and again vs. Sunderland. Keep that up. He looks so much better on a wing than down the middle. Stach so much better too

So much better off than I thought we'd be.

The Sunderland goal is arguably a carbon copy on terms of the buildup from the Tyler Roberts goal vs. Hull a few years back (argument for it being better? ) But just a sign of the spirit and understanding in the squad rn. We should have a right go at Liverpool and man u these next two games.

Great post Ealing, a name not too far from my old stomping ground Shepherd’s Bush.
Agree with your zero agenda post which is a breath of fresh air from certain obtuse points of view from some.
Great to have you back on board.

2.) 29 Dec 2025 22:36:33
Oh i've never truly been gone, just fancy a post or two though when i have something I really want to say, often when things are looking more up than down (as a certain song states) or if things aren't going too well when I've had enought time to consider it objectively rather too passionately in the heat of the moment! Maybe less than I did post in the past.

Annoyingly I didn't make it to Brentford Leeds as I had to work! Have been to that fixture a few time in the past though.

A welcome point of view, and a welcome back! (To posting! )

Hi all,

Been a while, hope everyone is well. My take on the DCL news.

I wonder if we offered him say 70k a week if that is what the deal is for how long I don't know, 3-4 yrs with relegation release and wage cut on relegation?

70K sounds a lot but in footballing terms that's around 3.64m a year. Bearing in mind any fee we pay for a player doesn't include the wages. Yes there might be a generous sign on fee but it doesn't sound awful.

It does feel like a punt, but if you add James Justin for.

So thinking ahead to next season for transfers (players hopefully, not coaches) . My fellow Leeds fan and I in my office drew up a list of 6/ 7 targets for:

GK, LB/ RB, CB, CM, 10, Wing.

GK - I've said I want us to target him before, but Fenerbache's Livakovic. Feel like buying any keeper from outside Germany, France, England, Spain, Italy etc can't be wildly expensive but he does have pedigree. £15m or other options.

RB - Kyle Walker-Peters, still set to be a free agent at the end of the season, can also play RB. Free

CB/ LB - Ben Davies. The Welsh contingent grows. Chemistry with Rodon, He's a good, solid Prem player and with one year left and at 31 can't be breaking the bank. 7.5m?

RB/ LB Max Aarons. Look I get he 'rejected' us for Bournemouth and it hasn't gone that well for him. Even the Valencia loan hasn't worked. This is very much a 'Farke' job and see if he can't get back to the Norwich version. Bnmth paid £7m for him and objectively he's regressed so £5m offer and see.

CM Kalvin loan back on favourable terms only. Meaning no fee,

I think there's a deal to be done - as ever at the right price.

Is Phillips right now worth the clickbait £20m mooted, absolutely not. Is it true that his best form and performances came for us? Yes. Media have to read the climate too. If he can't get in the Ipswich lineup regularly and is an albatross contract for City, their bargaining power really isn't all that. I'd offer a loan with maybe 40-50% of his wages, and an offer linked to appearances to buy out his final year entirely (about £8m) if a clause of say 25 league appearances is met. If the love/ motivation of playing for Leeds again nets us a player that's 80/ 90% of the one that left its a good deal. City might think they can do better than that, if so good luck to them.

I happen to think Phillips would be an upgrade on Gruev (who has done a lovely job for £5m-but would be found out in Prem) .

Said earlier this window I wouldn't want him for what Bournemouth paid as he didn't have the best season for whatever reason. £5m to buy now (to use in tandem with Bogle) , or loan with £8m option if we go up. Seems to have lost his way but maybe Farke relationship will help.

So my boss is a Blackburn fan and said this

Unusual midfielder, has a goal in him and a good dribbler. Hasn't done much with his career in recent years (putting his words politely) . Maybe his loan spell at Southampton is him turning a corner.

Sounds like a slightly better version of Alex Mowatt, in the sense he scores eye catching goals.

Think it says a lot that they're looking to move on so quickly after signing him, possibly injury and/ or attitude problem. Yes working with Farke might help his undoubted talent resurface but no guarantee. Would be interested at £5m or a loan with option to buy at £7.5m but not for £10m. Worth revisiting if expectations are lowered.

I don't know I think almost every player has a price in this squad. If we paid around £5m for him and were offered around £10m then I would take it. We have Rodon, Struijk and probably one of Wober or Cresswell for CB, Amps will play in CDM and be cb backup, Aaronson will be involved in mid/ CAM, and I rate Gruev higher than Kamara myself. Someone or even two from Gruev, Ampadu, Kamara and Aaronson are likely to be the odd ones out on the bench given (for now) we likely accommodate three from Rutter, Summerville, Gnonto and James. I'd sell Kamara for a good profit (and only a good profit) and look to maybe use Charlie Crew as the second mid option from the bench.

I think a draw was a 'fair' result today.

Lads gave everything epitomised by BA's goal. Just sheer pressing, never giving up.

A better forward would have stuck at least one of the chances that Sesko had away.

I was very annoyed that the commentators could only focus on Man U's absences. Bogle, Rodon, and Ampadu huge losses for a newly promoted team, but no its all the hardship faced by Man U. I get they had absences, but apart from the briefest of acknowledgements around Amapadu all they could focus on was them.

Piroe so nearly won it for us, but wouldn't mind if he was moved on for net even. See if Ipswich or Middlesbrough will cough off 10m and +5m if they win promotion.

Don't mind that he started on the bench tonight. He's played a lot more football than his body is used to recently and good man management from Farke to give him a bit of a rest.

Agree Gruev for a player who doesn't get many minutes these days held his own.

Hope Bornauw will make it for Sunday did well, but with Amps and a Rodon out we look a bit threadbare for when United come to town defensively. Not that they don't have their own selection issues in fairness but if bornauw has a true knock we might be forced into a back four.

On a more positive note in the first game of the new season we played the defending champ away and got a point, west ham drew at home in a must win game in the context of their season and forest also lost at home in on paper a game they must have targeted for three points.

In points terms its the same gap as ahead of gameweek 18 but minus a difficult away game for us and minus a good home game for both our rivals. We get anything against united and if west ham fail to win at molineaux at the weekend it'll be increasingly promising.

Its probably a non-starter. Payment terms - in installments are common and these are possibly weighted to heavier payments towards the end of the deal. If Barcelona were out of term or had failed to meet obligations on time they would be in significant trouble. That being said they owe a lot of money not just to leeds so it will be interesting to see if they keep up with the payments. Leeds ourselves will have agreed to pay fees in installments even if this is unusually lengthy.

Think Burnley's biggest loss is Trafford with his insane expected conceded goals stat.

When you think that Burnley paid up to £20m for Broja who is just as if not more so injury prone than DCL and they will have had to pay wages on top of that too. Only thing that Broja has over DCL is he's a little younger. Makes me feel better about signing DCL for sure, not that we don't need more.

We're playing a bit of a dangerous game but maybe there's something to be said for keeping the powder dry a little. Teams blink, other factors make a player available for loan or transfer. Hell even Raphinha was a very late window buy. Not that I expect to find that but we have more flexibility than teams like Sunderland surely.

Justin for 7m sounds good, leaving a marquee 10, and maybe a sneaky return for Solomon on loan again. That would be a nice window.
