Reports out of Argentina that Bielsa is considering signing a new 2 year deal. First great news, second if true, if he is willing to sign for 2 years rather than his normal 1, it suggests that whatever the plan is behind the scenes it has him really excited.

1.) 11 Apr 2021 07:21:58
Incredible news 👏😍😍.

2.) 12 Apr 2021 08:40:21
Not going to say it 🤭.

12 Jan 2021 01:25:34
Links to Norwegian LWB Bjorkan (22) gaining traction, can also play LB, RB and RWB. 100 apps for Bodo/ Glimt, couple of clubs across Europe chasing him. Don't know much about the Norwegian league so no idea how good he is but 7 or 8 clubs seem to be looking (mainly mid to lower prem teams) . Would like a known quantity but contract is nearly up so could be cheap, little risk.

1.) 12 Jan 2021 14:54:13
He is a cracker the Norway lad just what we need.

28 Dec 2020 02:48:00
Doing the rounds that us and Brighton weighing up a £7m Jan transfer for Sam Johnstone from WBA.
Hopefully we are looking at a second Keeper but I'm expecting a veteran player to give us a season or two while Meslier works on his craft (Romero or similar) rather than a 27 year old. That's surely a first choice for the next 6 or 7 years and I can't see Ilian warming the bench that long.

23 Dec 2020 04:26:26
Adama Traore linked again. Would be a good addition but a large chunk of cash for a player in a position we aren't desperate for.

01 Aug 2018 00:14:16
After watching the Lufctv vid interview of Bamford I have to say I'm really excited by Harrison. Bamford made all the right noises but Harrison looked lightning in comparison during the bleep test bit, if he can cross/ score too we will be laughing.

We are looking at bringing in Aguero?!?! Surely that's a wind up right?
32, injury prone but regardless that would be a literal game changer.

Just seen that Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Menino is potentially available this summer for £15m. Lots of top clubs tracking him but at 20 the offer of first team football might give us a chance if we went in. Described as the Brazilian Yaya Toure he can play as a specialist DM (Would make George happy) but also RB and CB, so nice and versatile.

1.) 30 Mar 2021 18:32:55
I’m not even gonner say it gummie.

2.) 30 Mar 2021 18:33:32

3.) 30 Mar 2021 18:33:46
Oh damn I couldn’t hold it in.

4.) 30 Mar 2021 19:43:38
I have that problem sometimes Martyn.

5.) 30 Mar 2021 23:11:36
Age related alf.

11 Mar 2021 02:29:24
Raphael Varane has told Real he want to leave in the summer and move to the prem. Obviously would want champ league football and will have a big wage and price tag but could be cut price due to the c.v. and would go a huge way to sorting our back line (can also play RB and DM which would make Marcelo happy) . If we really do have another £100m to spend in the summer and we want to push for Europe it could be the perfect first signing (even if it sets us back £50m or so)

{Ed077's Note - you aren't serious right?

1.) 11 Mar 2021 04:20:03
Gumbo The last Raphael we tried to sign didn't work out too well. I'm sure he'll end up wrong side of Pennines.

Ed077 Ask Gumbo if Kylie fancies Leeds instead of Paris. No contest.

2.) 11 Mar 2021 19:40:42

3.) 12 Mar 2021 02:39:46
I am Ed. 12 months ago it would have been a ridiculous suggestion but now with everything going on? Look at the facts, he wants to leave, they are (allegedly) hard up for cash. He wants to play prem (only 20 teams to choose from) , how many can afford him right now? 7-8 teams? With our recent investment we are in a better position than most. Of those teams how many are willing to spend that much on a CB? United are chasing a GK, CM and RW. City finally have have a settled back 4 and our looking more for their next Aguero. Chelsea are looking at forwards too. Only really Pool in need of a CB but will they need one once Virgil et al are back from injury?
Outside of those I genuinely believe we can compete with anyone in the league over signings. The fact that Rodriguez joined Everton shows that right manager, right project, it can be done.
Also the rumours of Douglas Costa and Vazquez suggest we are willing to pay big wages to bring in elite players.

{Ed077's Note - Douglas Costa and Vazquez are levels behind Varane and his pay packet/wage demands as well as transfer fee. James Rodriguez joined Ancelloti's team more so than Everton FC. I dont see that kind of relation between Varane and Bielsa.

Frankly you guys seem to be deluded about Leeds and where they stand right now. And FFP does exist you know.}

06 Mar 2021 04:12:34
With the speculations on incoming signings (Vazquez, Douglas Costa) am I the only one wondering about what it means for Harrison? Vazquez could be a replacement for Ayling or Rapha if he leaves, he can also cover both (expensive cover if used that way) , Rapha could also move more central which Bielsa said at the beginning of the season he saw him doing but Douglas Costa would be a LW, a starting LW. Would Harrison really drop back to bench or would Bielsa try to retrain him as a LWB and if so will we see him played there in some of the end of season dead rubbers.

1.) 06 Mar 2021 06:44:11
I think there is room for two LW at Leeds. Would give Harrison a rest and increase competition. A better quality bench would be good for us. Having said that at 30 years old can't see this being a move we would make.

2.) 06 Mar 2021 07:57:31

With alf on that, both Vazquez and Douglas Costa are not the sort of age that fits in with the "Leicester model". Too old and too expensive to maintain.

Can see Traore of Wolves being a more realistic target, provided the the finances work out. Can only see him being a £40m player if its performance related and the is a percentage sell on fee. Other than that I can't see anyone paying that figure.

As far as Harrison is concerned, and for that matter Raph, Costa and Poveda too, its all about improving the overall quality on the flanks for Bielsa so there needs to be lots of competition in that area

I can see us also going for fullback improvements with the same idea in mind.

I have tried to research Bielsa's history to see if he has worked with out and out playmakers, as I was curious to see if he used them. Not saying I am good at this tinternet thing but I see No8's have been bigger deals to him and written about more. With that in mind, de Paul with Klich and Phillips wouldn't have me protesting.

But, at the end of the day, how exciting to be discussing Premier League football for next season and players of the quality above mentioned. getting the hottub warmed up for a socially distanced Reay Martin this afternoon, cheers all.

3.) 06 Mar 2021 13:08:46
Not a case of Leicester model, supposedly it's who Bielsa has said he wants, should be all we need to hear, plus Douglas Costa is a Bayen and Brazil international available for £9m. Not a chance he would come in as 'competition' though.
As for Traore, Axe, Wolves value him at £70m somehow. He could end up as an elite player but he isn't worth that and is incredibly inconsistent. Would rather have a proven top level winger even if they have a few more miles on the clock.

4.) 06 Mar 2021 17:17:47
Traore ludicrously overvalued by Wolves his stats are mediocre 18 goals in 240 games or so, no wonder Wolves want rid of him

Steer well clear please Leeds.

{Ed077's Note - his stats are mediocre because Traore is bang average. He can run fast amd thats about it

5.) 06 Mar 2021 17:41:06
He is indeed bang average Ed077.

6.) 07 Mar 2021 02:33:44
Sadly I think he might be a Baliotelli, all the natural potential and talent in the world but more bothered about money and his mates. Only thing I can think of for how he can be so good one minute then terrible the next. Suggests it's more attitude than anything else.

28 Feb 2021 01:43:20
Spurs set to release Cameron Carter-vickers in the summer, still only 23, 100+ champ games, low wage (£20k pw) , could be a decent pick up on a free. Better than our youth options and young enough to improve. Would also free up Struik to get a season of first team out on loan and Koch or Llorente to step into DM when Kalvins out.

1.) 28 Feb 2021 02:46:12
Given the long term injuries that we have has this season to Koch and Llorente and with Cooper also having a few injuries I am not sure sending Struick out on loan next season is a good idea at all : we need him in Leeds United's first team squad.

2.) 28 Feb 2021 03:24:44
Gumbo Sending Struik out on loan backward step. He's doing just fine and I see him forging a commanding defensive partnership with either Diego or Benjamin once Radz forks out £40m to the Seagulls. Pascal knows Bielsaball and is only going to improve. As for the player you mention, the last couple of double barreled names we had in weren't very good. JKA and the supremely gifted CBJ.

3.) 28 Feb 2021 03:36:25
Surely though Baz, if we ever want him to hit his potential, he needs to get a solid season of first team under his belt. If we brought in carter-vickers (or any other CB for that matter) then we would have 4 CBs with Philips and Ayling as emergency cover.

4.) 28 Feb 2021 05:40:33
Gummie, I empathise with your point but on balance still think it is preferable Struick doesn't go out on loan.

5.) 28 Feb 2021 08:13:01
To be Frank I don’t think Struijk would be playing if Llorente and Koch had not been crocked for most of this season. However I think he has done extremely well but he is still learning.
Presuming Koch and Llorente are both fully fit you would think that both these internationals will be playing, either Cooper or Struijk will step down and I don’t think it will be our Capt.
Bielsa appears to mould CB’s into taking on the DM role when KP is out, like what he did with Ben White successfully.
I think it’s now down to who can prove himself the best.
For me Llorente would be the natural choice, but it looks like Bielsa is giving Struijk a chance to prove himself.
Good luck to the young man.

6.) 28 Feb 2021 09:20:23
I don’t think struik prem standard.
Eventually. Only mez. Ayling Dallas klich bam Harrison will be left from champ. With liorente and Koch and raph as newbees.
Add two more.

7.) 28 Feb 2021 13:58:54
Odd I think stuijk is our best cb I really like and rate the lad.

8.) 28 Feb 2021 14:50:55
I agree Bermo - wish we played him there instead of as defensive midfielder.

Been linked with a couple of CBs now, wonder if someone is on the way out or if someone is getting a position shift. Can't see us going into next season with 5 senior CBs, especially when Kalvin and Bill can cover.

Interesting one, very versatile and at a good age. Mainly plays as a DM though, wonder if he would be willing to play no 2 to Kalvin after going on loan to get first team football, seems counter productive for him.

Well of coarse it's not much of a risk if he steps up Alf, the risk is that he won't step up. If we are going to take a £20m risk it should be on a younger player like Raphinha not a player in his prime years. If we are going to do that we could get an uninspiring but solid player from a prem team, at least we will know what we will get.

Moved for £20m last year, great LaLiga2 stats but we would have to get him at a serious discount on that to be worth the risk.

Could be an astute transfer if we can get him at a reasonable price. Good age, already playing first team. Great goals and assists (Not the best league tbf) for his age. Would also bolster our English quota.
Biggest concern is that as a winger, although his movement is good, he doesn't exactly leave defenders for dead.
Couple of big clubs also looking though so could be hard to pull off.

Honestly with a little gap above and a bigger gap below we won't move much either way. Difference between 11th and 9th is only around £7m, if we can blood an u23 or two to step up as backup next season we could easily save more than that in avoiding the need for new signings.

Honestly I'd sell or see if he will mutually terminate his contract. He's been out too long, will struggle to step up after 19 months out. Let him go so he can find a champ club to finish his career at.

Now we are safe I wonder if a few senior fringe players like him and a few youngsters might get minutes between now and the end of the season to see who stays, who moves on and who gets loaned out to get some first team next year.
One good game certainly doesn't get him permanently back in the starting 11 but it might be enough to get a couple of starts to prove he deserves to stay.

Honestly, with some of the linked players we have had the last 12 months, if we are seriously looking at bringing in players like Aguero, Draxler, De Paul, etc. I'm not really bothered for anyone in those teams, not at the same standard.
That said if I had to pick any then we could do a lot worse than St Maxim and one of the keepers as a no 2 to replace Casilla, only at the right price though.
