Rumour mill suggesting we are interested in Artem Dovbyk who is set to leave Roma in Jan. Suggested price is £19M. Would be a great signing, but I doubt it will happen. Allegedly Sunderland looking at him too.

JR16

1.) 06 Jan 2026 22:49:13
He has been offered to use along with a few other clubs apparently.

2.) 07 Jan 2026 01:22:55
So go ahead and take up the offer, how hard can that be?

3.) 07 Jan 2026 06:41:41
Depends if we want him or not and if the price is right I would think.

4.) 07 Jan 2026 06:51:47
He also got subbed off injured yesterday so we would probably want to learn more about that before making any move.

New rumour that Man City are looking to poach Harry Gray, but looking to cut the price by offering Kalvin Phillips in part exchange. My view is that we should tell them we're not interested in taking KP back, but if they want to do a PX deal we'll take Erling Haarland off their hands, otherwise no deal and they can go forth and multiply.

JR16

1.) 22 Dec 2025 15:54:19
40 million for Gray. No way we can keep hold of him if we're offered that.

One has to wonder, if Man City see him as so valuable, why we aren't playing he next to DCL?

2.) 22 Dec 2025 17:10:30
It's money for a future superstar, which I'm pretty sure he will be, even more so than Archie. He'd be out on loan for a long while I'd guess. That money, with or without Kal, will be almost impossible to turn down, sadly.

3.) 22 Dec 2025 17:56:31
KP has nothing to offer but passion IMO.
Not sure how the upcoming financial changes will affect our choices, I'd rather keep Gray and let him become worth more than 40mill, but the money would make a huge difference if true.

4.) 23 Dec 2025 23:16:49
I’d rather keep him. We do need additions but tbh I think our chances of survival with the team we have, have improved dramatically recently.
Bit out there. But why not use gray if dcl Injured?

Great news, allegedly Timo Werner doesn't want to come to LU, and his agents ard now offering him to Wet Spam. Never wanted him amyway, vastly overrated!

In the FA cup 4th round we will be away (again) at Birmingham City. Strangely, the only PL teams drawn at home are Arsenal, Man C, Villa and Liverpool who also just happen to be currently placed 1 to 4 in the table. Tell me this is just a coincidence if you like, but I don't like coincidences like this.

JR16

1.) 12 Jan 2026 19:40:30
Conspiracy theories. You'll be saying next that referees don't like Leeds. ?.

2.) 12 Jan 2026 20:27:10
Lol JR. Do you mean to tell me you have no faith in the undoubted "Integrity" of The FA? ???
As for us, that's a typically slippy banana skin we've been presented with! Surely that's also pure chance at play!?!?

3.) 12 Jan 2026 23:00:39
My faith - sweet FA. Make your own mind up what those two letters stand for. ?.

4.) 12 Jan 2026 23:27:19
Also just found out, we were the very last ball out of the pot, maybe so as not to be mixed up with any others?

5.) 13 Jan 2026 08:36:44
What are the odds on that happening jr? ?.

6.) 13 Jan 2026 12:06:15
There were 32 balls, so the odds on being last (or first or any other position) are 1 in 32 or 3.125%. For it to happen twice would be 1 in 1,024 or 0.098%.

7.) 13 Jan 2026 13:29:28
Strange you not won lotto.

8.) 13 Jan 2026 14:13:29
Lotto jackpot odds are 45 Million to 1, gambling is a mugs game.

The Daily Telegraph obituary of the late Terry Yorath includes a great story about his first match for Leeds United. At 18 he was too young to live alone, and so lodged with a teammate. During his debut match against Burnley he floored an opponent with a trademark tackle, and the Burnley player asked the Leeds bench: “Who the hell is that, ” to which Les Cocker replied: “Believe it or not he’s Norman Hunter’s mother’s lodger. ”.

JR16

1.) 10 Jan 2026 09:32:50
There's also the tales of his bravery in the tragic Bradford fire, which I'd never even heard before.

2.) 10 Jan 2026 15:40:46
Lovely story JR. I was lucky enough to meet him in 1974, when we were the top team. I remember him putting souness in his place in a match in the early days too. Terry, Jordan and Gordon all came through together. Wonderful footballer and man.

3.) 10 Jan 2026 18:36:07
Ah yes, 1973/ 74, my favourite season, we were Div 1 champions, and also Man Utd were relegated. ?
Top scorer that season was Martin Chivers, who also passed away on Wednesday another great footballer.

4.) 10 Jan 2026 23:13:56
Great knowledge JR. Martin Chivers was a top class centre forward. What would he be worth nowadays?! Sad to hear of his passing too.

Put the flags out, DCL's goal against Sunderland chosen by BBC MOTD viewers as December's "Goal of the month" - as Gabby Logan said, it's nice to see the a team goal win.
PS Maybe BA has put down an early marker for the Jan award.

JR16

1.) 05 Jan 2026 06:36:32
Sunderland goal serves the accolade. Not sure ba does.

2.) 05 Jan 2026 11:39:40
Many of us have been rightly critical of BA in the past, me included, but I have to concede that he is much improved in recent games, and has deserved to keep his place in the team. He was good yesterday, and took his goal well.

3.) 05 Jan 2026 16:01:34
Correct JR, I also have been very critical of BA, and I agree at present he deserves his place now, but I stand by my previous comments regarding him.
He has certainly been the most improved player of the last month and arguably our best player, although I personally believe amps has been outstanding of late, nice to see Bijol and Bornauw playing well and given the chance to show what they can do.

Hats off to all the team long may it continue.

02 Jan 2026 12:43:18
Last night at Liverpool we were without our best CB Joe Rodon, but the three lads that played were all good against a top side. Maybe I'm sounding like a cracked record here, but if our budget is limited for new players in the Jan window, we should be prioritising a striker or attacking midfielder/ No 10 rather than a CB.

If DCL or Nnecha (or both) gets injured our potential goalscoring options are limited.

JR16

1.) 02 Jan 2026 13:23:50
Nope. Striker. First. Not sure we need an am anymore so for me. Striker or two, goalkeeper and possibly additional cb. In that order. Bet we buy a winger first. See if recruitment team have learnt as much as Farke this season.

2.) 02 Jan 2026 15:18:04
CB and 10 are the clubs priorities in that order. Will only bring in a striker if we move Piroe out.

3.) 03 Jan 2026 03:34:58
What if we move out piroe last week of window and not get a replacement. Should get a striker if we manage to shift Harrison or mez. Regardless. Namecheck is good for last 15 v lower level competition. But not week in and out if dcl injured. Striker a must.

4.) 03 Jan 2026 16:16:13
I really really hope that strategy doesn't come back to bite us later down the line. ?.

27 Dec 2025 17:13:56
Goid day for us. Spam lost 1:0 at home go Fulham, so we're still 6 points ahead of them, 10 better GD and a game in hand. Burnley 7 points back an Wolves 17. UTWDTP.

JR16

1.) 27 Dec 2025 17:29:27
The next 3 games are going to be massive JR, get some points in the bag, open a gap and join the pack and it will get very interesting indeed, doubt any team is going to relish coming to ER the way things are at the moment, can't wait for the Man U match ???.

2.) 27 Dec 2025 18:14:35
Amen to that ?.

3.) 28 Dec 2025 10:29:52
You can’t help feel what if we had lost to Man City (did we lose? ) and the turmoil that would of probably ensued.
What coach we would have now and the conversations would also be very different i’m sure.
This season for us still could crumble away with one or two serious injuries to key players but we still have a chance of staying up and it all hangs by a thread.
I’m just thankful we don’t have a knee jerk owner like Marinakis, we’re still in this with a shout thanks to Daniel Farke and his coaching staff plus our non trigger happy owners.

In Farke we trust, without him, we would be bust.

Tough game against Sunderland today, all depends on who wants it the most in my estimation.
If we don’t win this game, we will most certainly be relegated!

Onwards and Upwards.

{Ed025's Note - this game will not define your season OP even if you do lose, im going for a 1-2 with DCL getting the winner mate, they have lost 6 players to the AFCON and this is the optimum time to play Sunderland..

4.) 28 Dec 2025 11:06:29
I personally don’t believe in season defining games Ed, i'm just tempting some of our posters to maybe follow or challenge that statement.
It’s funny when you’re on a good role you don’t hear the, "it’s a must win game anymore"!

I feel we will be too physical for Sunderland, but let’s not ignore what a scalp this would be for Farke and his men if we can win this game to a Sunderland who have not lost at home this season.
If stats have anything to do with this game, we should be blown out of the water by Regis Le Bris team, this should be a great spectacle of two teams from the lower divisions who are here to make a statement about football.

{Ed025's Note - them having players missing will hopefully work in your favour OP, they have done exceptionally well but as i say its a great time to play them mate..

5.) 28 Dec 2025 12:27:11
Back to normality opti.
Your posts defy logic or reason even if just an opinion. Change your diet mate. Live in the now and future rather than the past. Zzzzz.

6.) 28 Dec 2025 12:54:54
Ausman I thought that was Dyche then?.

7.) 28 Dec 2025 13:01:40
More than surprised you took the bate Ed,
More than surprised.

{Ed025's Note - i can be a bit steve naive at times Chris, but i tend to take people at their word mate.. :)

8.) 28 Dec 2025 13:05:14
Just making my opinion of the here and now of our football club Aus and I’m not sorry that it doesn’t comply with your opinions fella.
Having a very short memory seems to be very convenient with some posters.

Moving on to our game today do you think we should win this game on the basis that like Ed has pointed out, Sunderland are missing about seven of their players due to Afcon, ?
It’s my belief they have a deep enough squad to deal with their slight handicap over the coming weeks and they have already made provisions to deal with this situation.

If it wasn’t for our recent upturn I would say even with their partially depleted squad, they would win this game hands down.
A draw would be a very handsome result in my living in the past, dozy opinion.

Strand Larsen was good last season, but this season only one goal from 18 appearences - we can do better IMO. Callum Wilson might be a better (and cheaper) bet if he negotiates an end to his contract with Spam and becomes a free agent.

We only have "plenty of time to sign players" as long as the players we want to sign haven't been snapped up by someone else whilst we're still thinking about it. Castellanos was suggested but now he's signed for Spam, Dovbyk has been rumoured but Sunderland are allegedly sniffing round him too.

Wait too long and the only ones available are the ones no one else wants, and if our competitors don't want them, neither do we.

Neves is a very good player, but I suspect he'll aspire to a higher ranked club than us in either England or Spain or Italy. Take your pick of the usual suspects.

Just looked back, and when we were drawn away to Peterborough in the 3rd round in 2023 it was our 13th away draw in a row, the first time it had ever happened in FA cup history. We finally broke the sequence being drawn at home to Plymouth in round 4 that year. The odds on that happening were 8,192 to 1!

Contrary to what some of the so-called "big" teams think, nobody but nobody has a divine right to be at the top all the time. Why shouldn't Arsenal be relegated, why shouldn't Wolves be champions? That was what the failed European super league was all about and why most fans rejected it.
