PSG have now made a formal inquiry for KP.
Don’t think anything can stop this from happening now, disappointing that he is only valued tops at 55 Mil, when you think slabhead went to Devon for 80!

Kristensen confirmed, Bill’s going to have a very tough time to keep his place in the team. I’m very happy to see strong competition for places, hope to see a few more.

1.) 08 Jun 2022 18:53:35
Keep? Don't you mean regain?

2.) 09 Jun 2022 02:55:42
Kristensen going to be first choice. Easy. Drameh back up.

3.) 09 Jun 2022 09:16:10
Yep, sadly, I think after that injury, Bill’s time at Leeds is done. Sad, as he has been a top, top servant to the club, and city.

Reading that there is a very strong likelihood that we will be buying a number 9 in the summer, regardless of Bamford’s fitness and Gelhardt’s progression into the first team.
Totally logical.

Absolutely and totally logical! Plus about time!
But who might it be, and will we have heard of them? It’s going to be an interesting summer (hopefully! ) .

2.) 18 Apr 2022 23:37:52
Pretty sure I saw those same rumours LAST year and were still waiting. I won't hold my breath.

3.) 19 Apr 2022 12:35:47

Personally I'm a big fan of NMECHA. He'd be a perfect addition to our first team and would compliment some of our attacking players very nicely. His past experinece with Man City also helps with his acclimation to the Prem. I would expect a smooth transition.

LUIS JAVIER SUAREZ would be a great addition, too. Especially if Raphinha does leave, as he has the ability to roam out wide and make incisive runs in when not playing centre forward. His versatility would be welcomed, but he's a strong CF nevertheless and would be challenging for a starting place up top.

GYOKORES is also a strong, cheap option who would add strength in depth to our first team, although possibly more of a squad player than starter, but with immediate potential to grow into a regular starter.

Realistically we will struggle to sign a Prem level experienced striker for what our likely budget will be, so we need to take a measured gamble on players such as these who have the capabilites to fit into our team and hit the ground running.

I can't see us spending much more than £20m on a striker and I wouldn't expect us to given other areas are arguably more important this summer, namely central midfield.

4.) 21 Apr 2022 10:37:29
A very insightful post, as always Dilli! Let’s hope that at least one of them is on the radar! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.

5.) 22 Apr 2022 23:47:28
If only you were in charge of recruitment Dillinger instead of the hapless Orta!

Think it’s needed to be honest. I think Geldhart is able to play at 8,9 or 10 and Paddy has his injury issues so we definitely need a top number 9. Think we will see a very different looking side next season and that excites me.

At costs now Leeds United should 100% hold onto Raphinha now, for his interests and Leeds.
It looks pretty clear that nobody is going to stump up 65 plus Mil for him now.
For his own short term interests he needs to be playing every game in the Prem to showcase his talents prior to the World Cup to satisfy his selection.
Leeds will also benefit from his football and he will not be sulking and under performing because he will want to be selected. Then in the January transfer window situations may have changed from certain clubs who might have an interest in buying him. It’s also very likely that he will be a great success in his World Cup ventures for Brazil and his image in the shop window with his valuation has gone from 60 Mil to 100 Mil.
This must be a very serious and viable situation for Radz and Leeds United, they should not be forced by Barcelona to sell him for well under his valuation.
Think smart!

1.) 25 Jun 2022 22:02:41
In total agreement OP.

2.) 25 Jun 2022 22:08:56
Agree, best he stays for now rather than be brow beaten by Barcelona and his agent to allow us to let him go for peanuts. Guarantee if he signs for Barcelona he will have a £100 + buy out clause in his contract.

3.) 25 Jun 2022 22:14:13
Very true Op, so know doubt Radz will accept 35 mil ???.

4.) 25 Jun 2022 22:14:28
Agree OP.

5.) 25 Jun 2022 22:21:10
OP think smart indeed
I nominate you to be on the Leeds board ( as the voice of Leeds supporters ) for rest of window.

6.) 25 Jun 2022 23:58:50
Whilst I think it’s the right call OP, still believe Raphinia will go, not a sensible decision, but I think the disappointment of the Barcelona transfer not happening will make him (eventually) take the next best option.

Wrong thing to do, but think he’s an emotional guy that acts on impulse, remember when he first joined us he was furious that his transfer fee was less than his original buyout clause……but he still joined us.

As to criticism of KP fee and Radz ( I still thought it was a little low, £50 mill minimum) but circumstances were against us with KP wanting the move and contract situation, plus this talk of West Sham and Villa prepared to pay higher than Citeh, Kalvin wouldn’t have joined them over Citeh.

So Radz (remember for him it’s not just a view or an opinion but his OWN money) I believe he took a pragmatic business decision.

Had KP been forced to stay I think we could have expected 100% effort until his last game.

Sadly I differ with peoples views that Raphinia will perform for us (due to the impending World Cup) he’s going to get picked by Brazil irrespective based on previous performances and I fear he will do the bare minimum and that’s not someone you want sulking around this relatively new team to kickstart our season, again take away his penalties he’s not a natural goalscorer. But accept me made some critical assists in our run in.

So purely based on Raphinia’s personality I’d prefer a fully committed Greenwood or Summerville than half arsed Raphinia.

So to that end, I actually hope he’s sold and a quality replacement is bought in his place asap. Clearly the guy doesn’t want to stay.

As a legend who changed everything for us used to say… Side before self!

7.) 26 Jun 2022 00:04:37
Or he stays, gets injured pre world cup, misses the tournament and rest of season and has 1 year left on his contract at the end of the season and we end up selling him for a loss.
Anything can happen, all that can be done is make the best call at the time and hope it pans out.
If he stays we really need it to be on a new contract with a 100 mill release clause, otherwise may as well sell now.

8.) 26 Jun 2022 12:28:21
Canada, you’re right, that has to be the niggling doubt on playing the longer game on Raphinha in the expectation of a stellar World Cup and consequent increase in transfer

Considering some of the tackles that have gone in on the lad, both in the Prem and when playing for Brazil, who you’d presume will have some ‘friendlies’ lined up in the September international break, it’s amazing that, to date, Raphinha has only had a slight ankle injury and severe dead leg.

Chances are, all goes to plan, we’re quids in and look like transfers geniuses. But it would seem typical Leeds luck for Raphinha to get crocked this autumn, miss out on Qatar and see his transfer value tumble.

Think Rooney has ditched Derby with the foresight that he will be the Everton manager by Christmas.
From the frying pan into the fire!

OptimisticalPesimist

1.) 25 Jun 2022 09:03:56
He showed loyalty with derby. Like him and will prove to be better than fat man.

2.) 25 Jun 2022 10:54:37
Imagine him walking into Everton on New Year’s Day as their new manager, and them immediately getting deducted 15 points for breach of FFP. De Ja Poo, anyone!? I’d wet mi’sen.

25 Jun 2022 00:02:33
Good luck to Kalvin and his future, don’t give a stuff about Man city but I hope he does well in his career, we move on, never was one man more than the club.
For me personally it is a sad day, but I accept the inevitability that his growth in the professional game had proceeded our club in our present position.
I know that Leeds United will always be in his heart.

OptimisticalPesimist

Deserves to get a crack at the top and isn't getting any younger. Great servant of the club.

2.) 25 Jun 2022 09:34:10
Op no way hope he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, and doesn’t get the same playing time by moving .

3.) 25 Jun 2022 12:36:30
Next time you change jobs whiteman I hope it goes down the pan and you get sacked. Well that’s assuming you will change your current jobs before you retire unless you are a one company man?

4.) 25 Jun 2022 17:53:29
I own my own so that won’t happen, try another lol.

18 Jun 2022 08:08:23
This is merely expressing a point rather than a judgment. Although on the surface each one of our new signings looks pretty decent and most of us have seen their you tube highlights etc.
However, none of these players so far signed are proven in the Premiership, as much as Koch, Llorente and Rodrigo all looked pretty decent signings from their respective leagues.
Non of these three players have really shined so far for us and they were internationals when they arrived, not any more.
I really do hope our new signings adapt quickly and prove to be great recruitments, I also hope that our players recruited previously begin to prove their talents in the very demanding Premiership league, as I do believe it can be a difficult transition for some players.

OptimisticalPesimist

1.) 18 Jun 2022 08:22:59
I agree opt. Promising but not proven.
I was expecting so me transfer activity this window.
So if we do sell both the boys I would also expect two to three top class 30 to 40 mill replacement starters.

2.) 18 Jun 2022 09:42:59
It’s not Orta’s way to go out and make a marquee signing, he prefers to look the lesser known diamond in the rough which is a gamble.
If Raph and KP do both depart this summer then maybe the funds will be substantial enough to bring in at least one top quality player, preferably a goal scorer.

3.) 18 Jun 2022 10:27:05
Good posts OP
I am feeling underwhelmed by 3 of our signings of 2020 and likewise 2022 although I have a feeling tne Danish right back will be a good signing.

Have doubts about sicknote Bamford so absolutely imperative signing quality goalscoring players it will define how good our season will be.

4.) 18 Jun 2022 10:47:15
We will only pay over 20m for a platter from one of the top leagues but we are now following the RB model of trying to sign players under 24, develop them and then sell for profit. If KP and / or Raph goes I can certainly seeing us spending 30m on a player but we haven't ever spent more than that. I share your concerns OP its great to see us bringing players in I just worry about the quality. Let's hope they turn out to be Raphs and not casillas.

5.) 18 Jun 2022 12:39:28
Alf Plata should only cost £9M, not £20M. ??.

6.) 18 Jun 2022 15:14:12
Baz, likewise I have feeling the "Rasmus the Dane"??can act out his Viking heritage and scare the hell out of our opponents next season.

7.) 18 Jun 2022 17:18:08
I think the RB lad will be awesome, as will Brendan. The Bayern lad I know very little about! Fingers crossed on all fronts!

17 Jun 2022 11:33:06
Hope all goes well with Roca’s medical today, not like Micheal Cuisance the last Bayern player we tried to buy.
Let’s also hope that Orta’s on a roll and brings in a striker next, sharpish.

OptimisticalPesimist

1.) 17 Jun 2022 13:43:33
I think Cuisance medical went very well!

2.) 17 Jun 2022 14:40:35
What ?? said. Bullet dodged.

3.) 17 Jun 2022 17:31:49
We need to sign mohamed camara from there little cracker this lad mot.

4.) 17 Jun 2022 18:07:43
Obviously to Cuisance is was a good medical.
It was also obvious he was a dud that they were trying to offload, Orta not doing his homework properly.
100% dodged a bullet.

I don’t think the club was totally committed in bringing O’Brien in, I believe the amount was agreed on but not the payment structure. Had Leeds really wanted him they would have met their demands. They took a gamble that Forshaw would come good in his return and he did. O’Brien is a decent player but should we be looking at better quality? Most certainly.

It’s uncalled for mate, KP has been a good servant to the club. So in that list why wouldn’t you put Leeds legend Gary Speed.?
One man one club is extremely rare and certainly doesn’t happen these days.

The good news is that it looks evident that Radz and Orta are digging their heels in on Ralph’s price.
I have a feeling that this transfer is only now starting to ramp up and there could be some interest coming in from the elite clubs, when I mean elite I don’t mean Arsenal!

Couldn’t agree more class, I think Raphinha not saying anything speaks volumes. He definitely wants to leave, it’s a little sad that he had to expose all that celebration on our last game which looks very false now. All this badge kissing and over emotional expressions mean absolutely nothing.
I would now also prefer him to leave but at the same time I wish the club to profit from his departure.
Rumours of him being in a swap plus cash with Ziyech could be interesting but unlikely.
Dealings with dirty Chelsea is as bad as dealings with Devon.
I don’t think Arsenal are going to pay the 60+ Mil for Raphinha, they’ve already got Saka and Martinelli on the left, there’s no room for Raph, their real interests are in bringing in Jesus, and I don’t mean the second coming.!
Raph could be with us for a little longer, for good or bad?

It maybe that the imminent signing of the young City prospect Darko Gyabi was tied into the KP deal.
It is possible that City were forced to let him go, he has been a target for Orta for a while apparently.
I’m sure City would not want to admit they had their twisted in this deal but it would mean they would get their man for a cut price.
It’s the way I would prefer to see these negotiations had evolved and who knows? Maybe it was.
