There are a few German teams looking at new managers for next season and click bait has mentioned Daniel Farke, well what I do know that is genuine is that DF was talking to Jermaine Beckford last weekend and the subject was mentioned to him by JB, DF replied that, it had been a burning ambition to manage in the Championship again with a team that has good credentials for promotion because he wants to prove to himself and his doubters that he can be a success in the Premiership. He said he felt that he was unfairly treated by Norwich and the media because he had no real funds available for player additions and he was told the second time they went up he could use the full parachute payment, he actually got given £21M for a complete overhaul to stay in the league. Pukki he said was past his best and they needed a striker but nothing happened, so in his words, he sort of give up and he said he son wants to prove people wrong and here’s the best bit… he believes that this can be accomplished by him with Leeds United. He said the 49ers are a dream.

He's 100% right. Webber was a right tight b*stard and gave him pennies. Played some decent stuff in the Prem from game to game, but didn't have the quality to do it regularly. He will cook with some financial backing.

IF we do go up, I have no doubts about either the 49ers OR Daniel Farke delivering what’s needed. We should have rid of the “ship jumpers” as Whitey labels them, a nice boost to the P&L, and Farke can then get they 4/ 5 players we sorely need to not just stay up, but compete in the mid range of the table.
The first word is critical to this tho! Game on!

The biggest plus to all these rumours regarding Archie is that we have Eddie Gray, his uncle in his ear, Andy Gray, his dad doing the same and finally Frankie Gray, his grandad advising him, then there’s his younger brother coming through and Archie wants to be a part of his brothers rise up the ranks, so for me he will going nowhere for a few seasons yet and if we are successful and get into Europe at some point then I think he will have even more reason to stay. It’s different with Cry because he craves European football and his homeland and I think if he left Willy Gnonto would be next because those two are close friends. Georginio will stay because he just loves Elland Road and us the fans, DJ will stay as will Amps, Rodon and Pascal. I think Meslier is getting better, his maturity is starting to show under DF but I think his future lies elsewhere and we will get a new number 1. I think Gelhardt will go, as will Greenwood and Cooper. Ayling, Shackleton and Byram will go, hopefully Cresswell will stay, Bam Bam should go, and there’s a question mark over Piroe for me. Matteo Joseph will become a great striker for us but we need another proven striker to back him up. Connor Roberts I would like to stay and we need to buy a new left back and right back because Junior Firpo needs to go. We have a new young lad Crew coming through which will give our midfield of Gray, Kamara and a very important Gruev a boost. Jayden Anthony could be worth a punt because we need reinforcements if Gnonto and Cry leave. I would like to keep Klasson as I do rate him and our No2 should go which leaves the door open for Klasson. Finally I don’t want any of our loanees back, they did not contribute to this great season because they didn’t want to fight for us, so for me it’s a Farke Off and don’t come back, and that means all of them. Please remember this is only my opinion and anyone else’s is just as valued ?✊??.

Yes woody there will a few changes next season. I think there is 6 coming out of contract including coops ayling dallas and greenwood. I think the defence is the first place to strengthen. Rodon or similar and competition for struijks position. Lb and rb position in need of strengthening.
As for archie he needs time. We saw at the weekend he was a bit lost at times against a well drilled hull midfield. I think another 2-3 years we might start to see archies full potential. Hopefully with 49ers cash we can build a team round him.
What is more pleasing is the 21s and u18s doing so well. 18s play in the fa youth Cup tonight. I watched the game last time and there are some talented players in there. Hopefully they can emulate the kewell and woodgate teams.

Good post Woody, the only name you mentioned whom I would like to stay would be Byram - despite injuries, I think he's been excellent and we didn't have to pay anything for him which is a real bonus!
And in agreement with you WB re 49ers investing in the team over the next few seasons - steady as she goes though so as not to incur points deductions for breaching FFP.

Leicester have announced losses of £89.7m for the 2022/ 23 season - the final year they were in the Premier League.
It is the period for which they have been charged by the league for allegedly breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules and come after accounts showed Leicester had made a record £92.5m in losses the previous year.
The EFL has subsequently placed the club under a transfer embargo after the PSR charges, with the Foxes currently third in the Championship.
Only thing is it only counts if they get promoted eh!

It really is shocking isn’t it Woody? Those figures, to me at least, would warrant not even getting promoted as surely it has benefitted them this season too? It’s a joke that a transfer embargo is applied while the window is closed and is the only available immediate “punishment”!

Ani, it does happen! I am told by a very reputable source that Leeds went out to lose the first playoff final after relegation from the Premiership against Watford, as the club could not afford the payments to ex players and clubs if they got promoted.

I agree with Corky’s post below about his remark of “don’t be fooled by that win” it definitely flattered us that score line and it could of been 3-1 the other way, but thankfully it wasn’t. I also agree with OP’s post especially the Cry comment, he has been getting targeted every game and he gets pummelled at every opportunity and tonight was no different in fact it was worse. We started great but they took control and didn’t let us play and without Gruev we had no invention in the middle and no control, Gruev was a big miss, he’s a bigger player than I thought and vital to our progression. Melbourne, great post and Ani I totally agree regarding Norwich, but I tell you what, they hate each other and form completely goes out of the window in games like those, Leeds have had plenty down the years, painful and embarrassing ones as well, so fingers crossed Norwich will go one better than the 2-2 at Ipswich, surely their luck has to run out soon, the irony is he’s an ex Devon and has had a lot of Fergie time to be thankful for! We are going up boys I’m sure of it, if we can win ugly as well as pretty, we will go up! Super Leeds United ??.

We all knew Gruev was playing very well, and rightly getting heaps of praise, but Jebus, I didn’t realise exactly how integral he is to the team performance! We have looked lost without him! Kamara has regressed somewhat without his presence imo, and Archie was no replacement for him last night. We were too reliant on Rodon and Amps for penetrating runs that the MF should be making (tho that is not what Gruev brings) . Hope he is back asap too!

I think this is shedding light on why Farke hasn't been playing Archie in the middle so much. He is still young and in certain games not what we need from our midfielders. Probably better adding an attacking edge in some of the fixtures against less capable teams.

Bright and Alf Agree somewhat but imo Archie was deployed as an additional "6" when he warrants being played higher up the pitch as an "8". I realize that's not how we play (we play with a double pivot) but bottom line is Archie is not a ready made replacement for Gruev. They are different profiles.

Well it seems to me that Daniel James has been majorly affected by the missed penalty for Wales, he’s not playing well at all and at the moment he is just a passenger! Cry is quiet, Georginio is great thank god but Bamford really is poor, although his hold up is good he is poor, get MJ on for PB and Anthony for James. Kamara is working far to hard in midfield and getting nowhere because Archie seems out of sorts, these bloody internationals should stop, there are to many injuries and the consequences are major and season defining! Anyway second half DF has said his words and hopefully it will be better ?.
