Our supposedly star summer defender signing, Bijol, apparently had two poor games for Slovenia. I pray that he is not another dud that we have brought in.

Saw that mick.

2.) 09 Sep 2025 12:51:31
Slovenia in general were pretty awful though I heard.

3.) 09 Sep 2025 14:16:07
And Sweden had a poor game against Kosovo with Gudmudsson in the team.

. and Isak and Gyokeres and Elanga!

Big money signings don't guarantee good results.

4.) 10 Sep 2025 16:17:56
Exactly JR. Like England, stacked full of "world class" players did so well v Andorra.

For an element of balance, England do not have world class players in my opinion.

5.) 10 Sep 2025 19:21:05
Harry Kane comes closest. The last world class player I saw close up was Raphina - wish we still had him.

Joffy, Schmidt and Rama all scored, think we should kept Rama at least, would have been better than Gnonto.

mickjoel

1.) 30 Aug 2025 19:45:43
would be better than Harrison and Aarrison put together.

2.) 30 Aug 2025 20:03:33
Agree mick. Large and Schmidt. Def.

3.) 30 Aug 2025 20:16:49
Actually Rama only got an assist.

When underwood was appointed as Director of recruitment, was anybody else surprised? I for one was, the guy had no experience whatsoever in this field. No he has messed up the whole transfer window, and half of his signings have very poor injury histories.

Why do we continue to buy sick after sicknote, this has gone on for a few years.

I reckon some of the people on this forum could do a lot better job than undercooked underwood.

mickjoel

1.) 30 Aug 2025 06:49:30
Totally agree.

2.) 30 Aug 2025 09:37:51
As long term posters you know I backed Orta saying he was hard working blah blah blah, I don’t know underwood that well but I know that he’s set a budget (only the owners will know that) and he will be told the type of players we want, how many players we need and what positions. As above I’m not sure how good at this he is but I don’t think many DOF would be able to get 10 or so new players with a 100 million spend (ish what we’ve spent) that are premiership quality.

If in your job the owners / bosses don’t give you the finances required to do the job successfully then it doesn’t matter how good you are. You can’t guy gold if your budget barely buys peas.

3.) 30 Aug 2025 12:00:31
My issue with him is he seems to only work on one at a time all the other clubs will have fingers in many pies he seems naive in that stance - granted he’s been given a pathetic budget by owners who clearly don’t get it
Only time will tell but I fear they have placed the wrong man in the job and we will be punished accordingly
I hope to be proven wrong.

4.) 30 Aug 2025 13:27:41
Those who have a go at our backroom team need to remember that many of them were chucked in at the deep end with the departure of Angus Kinnear, Gretar Steinsson and Nick Hammond to Everton all at the same time. Since then they've signed Barry, Grealish, Alcaraz, Travers, Dewsbury-Hall, Aznou, King and Dibling, how many of those were on their radar when they werr at LUFC?

5.) 30 Aug 2025 17:24:20
Spot on JR!

19 May 2025 22:03:45
Does anyone think the best 11 from the championship would be able compete in the Premiership?

mickjoel

1.) 20 May 2025 07:01:00
We will find out.

2.) 20 May 2025 09:23:54
If you mean our best 11, then I think it would perform marginally better than the 3 relegated sides, but possibly still come down.
If you mean the best of the champo, then that depends on if it's the EFL version or the deserved version!? (I'm not bitter, honest! )
It would be very interesting to see!
Should we therefore buy the best of the champo seems a logical progression? Not imo. Let's go better, if not necessarily well known betters.

3.) 20 May 2025 09:32:30
its difficult to say - not everyone who does well in the champ can go up to that level and there would be adjustment time for some also, however, i think that they would survive the drop in the first season.

4.) 20 May 2025 09:39:33
It would need the best 18 minimum and even then I think you have talented individuals who will struggle around the relegation zone as opposed to a well drilled functioning team.

Brentford and Fulham have very few top ten premiership players, but they both have excellent tactical coaches and the ability to play different systems, every player knows their role and there are no egos, ‘Side before self’.

My team for Thursday would be as below, even though I know it won't be anywhere near that.

Messlier
Roberts
Byram
Rodon
Creswell
Amps
Gruev
Kamara
James
Summerville
Joseph.

mickjoel

1.) 13 May 2024 14:38:50
Unfortunately Mick, the boy Cresswell doesn’t play the DF way, he likes his left and right backs to go forward and make runs, Cresswell just like an old fashioned centre back and I can’t see DF replacing Amps or Rodon in that area. I totally agree with the rest of your picks though although maybe rest Cry with Gnonto as Cry seems to be missing his mojo, either that if he can’t wait to get to Liverpool eh! ???.

2.) 13 May 2024 14:42:46
Did anyone notice how many times Cry pulled out of 50/ 50 even 60/ 40 tackles yesterday? I know he’s not known for his all out tackling display, but yesterday he just seemed to pull out of most if not all of them. Maybe he’s frightened in case he gets injured therefore any move to another club is scuppered! Any thoughts peoples? ????.

3.) 13 May 2024 14:58:41
As I said a few days ago, he's readying his showroom day in the final should we make it. There is an air of poor body language around him that I have pointed out for weeks now, something going on I believe.

4.) 13 May 2024 15:07:20
Mick Why are you dropping Firpo?

5.) 13 May 2024 15:09:44
What Woody and Dougie said

That's also further why it should be strongly considered to drop CS to bench.

We need ALL players starting on Thursday 120% fired up committed . CS is evidently not!

6.) 13 May 2024 15:51:23
Maybe he needs a Baz tickle uder his belly to get his going, what you think Grey Cloud?

7.) 13 May 2024 16:55:49
Now wouldn’t that be an event Dougie! lol ? while your on with the tickle under his belly any chance you could include Meslier in that? Will have to be one big tickle but it’s for the team Baz! ???.

8.) 13 May 2024 22:18:13
I did read that if he doesn’t get his move to Liverpool he’s up for the lead role in purple rain the musical.

9.) 13 May 2024 23:38:16
C&J ?.

10.) 14 May 2024 08:18:49
?????????.

Seems to be talking out of his backside. Evans and Underwood both got these jobs without any previous experience, how they achieved this we will never know.

It seems to me that lately people have been moaning about the moaners, which means even more moaners.

Why not let them have there say, they are only venting their frustration at the situation.

That is a really good idea c&j, but only a few managers will have the guts to try something like that. Bogle has plenty of pace, and can beat a man, why not try it for a half, and change it if it’s not working. Tomorrow would be an ideal time due to the injury situation.

Firpo can a good season only if fit, which he rarely is. When we bought Piroe, we all thought we have finally bought a striker, only to learn he is going to be used mainly as a CAM. What the hell is going on?

That is worrying, we don't want more chaos, we need to stabilise at the back, and Bielsa's method are based on a sound defence. If this Andoni guy comes in, we could be in for more another roller coaster ride.
