It's January, KP is available for loan for the rest of the season - would you have him in the current squad?

Alf. That ship has sailed. I understand why he left as who wouldn't and with relegation the following season for leeds it was justified. However, he is still a quality player but i think Ampadu is better so where will he fit in? We have Kamara as cover and Dallas is getting near. I liken him to Milner as Leeds born and bred but he didn't come back.

I’m not sure Alf. Phillips was before Bielsa arrived a very ordinary player and it was Bielsa who found his better position, coached him and made him a very fit player for us.
When I look at him now he looks a million miles from the player we once had.
I don’t hold it against him for his choice to go to Citeh but I think for him from a footballing point of view it’s sent him backwards.
The Bielsa KP I’d say yes but now I’m not sure.
Good luck to him all the same.

Don't think I would, loved the fact KP was a local boy and came up through the ranks but football moves on and don't see him as a good fit into our current team. As many have said Ampudu is looking a better player than KP.
Maybe one day he will return but believe he would be looking to stay in the premiership.

Personally, I think Ampadu is moulding into a better all round player.
KP was excellent for us before injury and didn't do a great deal on his return.

Not sure amps is better than Bielsa kp.
But despite Amps lapses of concentration is still better than the kp now.
Although we should have got more dosh at the time hard to see a prem team paying more than 20-25 for him now. So big hit for city ( who can afford it) and prob on reflection so so business for us.

A lot are saying Ampadu is better than KP was.
Not sure you are comparing apples to apples here. Under Bielsa we played a very very aggressive 4-1-4-1 which left KP extremely exposed. Bielsa made him super fit and gave him an exceptional positional sense (watch him even now and he is constantly scanning the whole field) .
Ampadu had more help with us playing 4-2-3-1 and we are a better defensively organized team.
Not saying Ampadu wouldn't have been as good or better, just hard to compare.
KPs lack of pace and injury record would make him a no for me too.
I think we need a CAM more than a DM anyway.

Fully agree Aus, we should have sold KP for more money and I'm sure we would have with the current owners
None of the Bielsa squad players are as good as they were, he tweaked the best out of anyone.

Good posts above

A fit in form KP . then YES!

One can never have enough good players in squad ( very long, very rigorous 46 game league season) .

But sadly he is neither fit nor in formm.

No from me, we have had so many coming/ goings of late, last thing we need is another part timer, we need to centre on whuch LEEDS UTD, player is best not another loaner.

Phillips was coached by bielsa to fit into our shape as a single dm. With England he played as two with rice pushing on and him holding. Man City don't play either of those styles.
I watched a bit of the game last night and to fair kp looked a bit lost.
Man City push the rb into midfield so at times there was 2-3 stood within 5 yards of each other.
Don't know what he should do next because I can't see anything changing much.
Apart from his passing I don't think we need him even he was to want to come back.
So no for me.
Bournemouth are after a dm aren't they?
