I've never had a strong opinion on Steve Evans as a coach either way to be honest, (until now) . If his comments on Botaka are true then it shows very, very low levels of man management skills.
I know someone on here will tell me different, but I don't remember many, if any managers openly telling the world he basically thinks one of his players is useless.
I can only imagine all the other fringe players will be thinking Evans thinks the same about them.

Steve if you have a non performing member of your staff then - train him to upgrade his deficiences, loan him out to the end of the season - or cut your losses and sell but never, never criticize in public.

Agree Danum, the only thing he maybe trying to do is fire him up with his comments, risky doing it that way TBH as it could backfire, When I played in the Blackpool amateur leagues way back in the mid 80s I had a manager who used to drive me nuts shouting at me and slagging me off from the touchline, it drove me on to try to prove him wrong, and he envariably got the best out of me using this tactic the smug look on his face after beating Blackpool rangers 5-0 with yours truly getting all 5 was a picture 😂 he used to really P##s me off though so won't work with everybody, I think he is very old school in his methods, but he seems to be able to spot a player, let's see what happens in the summer when he can mould his own team and we can get rid of the dreaded recruitment officer.

i agree think it is old school management bit risky but can work. Fergi and Clough did it quite a bit and it seemed to work for them. maybe botka might have an iffy work ethic and he could be trying to get more from him, hard to know without being close to the team. I would say he seems to have got the best out of a lot of our players so his man management can't be that bad.

Agree with you Danum - no public criticism. it will hardly encourage the lad. I also think that SE has distinct favourites like Wootton and Doukara. not sure why, as both are incredibly slow and Doukara needs to go to Weightwatchers and drop some timber. He might actually get to the ball first then in the 50/ 50s!
