Peterborough United claim they have rejected an enquiry from Championship side Leeds United for skipper Tommy Rowe.

"I've had Leeds manager Brian McDermott on the phone about Tommy and I've also spoken to their chairman Ken Bates and their chief executive Shaun Harvey, but Leeds just don't have enough money, " Posh director of football Barry Fry tells the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

But, Ken Bares isn't our chairman anymore!

Not that I don't disagree, but how does he know we don't have the money does he have access to the clubs bank accounts?. What would be more realistic is that we have gone in with a low-ball offer and they have just laughed at us

Either that or they have but an extortionate price tag on him?

I knew you would get slated for your comments but unfortunately there is still people out there thinking that we won't just get loanees or free's like last year.
Unfortunately we have been bought out by a company that thinks they can flip the club without making it a better club ( Invest ).
Really surprised the manager has taken it on, or maybe he has been given false promises as I am sure Warnock did.

Just because it is a direct quote, doesn't mean it is entirely true. leeds may not have the money, however it is more likely that leeds valuation of the player is different to theirs.

Pure spin from Barry the Gob, trying to bump his transfer value by stating our interest publicly, classic Fry.

We have the money for Tommy Rowe, this is just Barry Fry being Barry Fry, we have probably said we aren't paying over the odds for him and he has taken it that we have no money. So Barry Fry is being slightly controversial its not like him! He is trying to generate interest in player who has rejected any deal from Posh even at 20 k a week. Just a ploy so other clubs/agents take interest to push up a valuation. LUFC are the only club who have made any approach. Deja vu to last summer and Jan 13 transfer window, when we were told we could not afford George Boyd and last summer we didn't have the £$ for Joel Ward, what's more alarming is GFHC are in mute mode and no where to be seen or heard, more and more time goes on the more I lose faith in there ability in running the club, and why is Ken Bates involved in so called transfer talks!Last summer were bad, let's hope this one is indeed much more productive on the player recruiting front, and with any luck get rid of a few also.

The salary demand is certainly silly money, no way we would be paying £20k per week.

They're wanting £5m+ for Gayle as well, way too much! They also wanted over the odds for Mackail-Smith back in the day! I wish Leeds bargained as hard as they do, maybe we'd have for a bit more for our multitude of stars that went to pastures greener!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that GFH have yet to spend anything on transfer fees? Morison came as a swap Warnock came as a free Halibooboo was a loan and Smith is a free. Well it'd go along with the "rumours" of a big/unexpected signing coming up and with the idea that he wants to take one step back to make 3 steps forward so to speak. Not sure if he meant the championship but I'd be happy to see him at leeds
