I was there last night. Monteiro is a good player. The whole back line played well - they had to because Sutton put them under the cosh for a lot of the match - especially second half. Our goalie looks assured too.

But Monteiro has been at ER a while now - comparatively speaking - and still hasn’t progressed to 1st team fringe like some of the other youngsters. So you do have to wonder.

Monteiro Portugal U21 captain great things were expected of him when he first signed BUT physically he seems lacking at the highest level in my humble opinion, Spanish may know more though.

I’ve not seen the under 21s as much during his time, so hard to comment. He seems a strange one, re the comments above, highly thought off but not seemingly been close to the first team group. Looks a solid enough player, wonder if a championship or league one achiever might take a punt on him?
