Leeds Banter Archive April 16 2013
Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Lighthearted and meant as banter before anyone starts slagging off or whinging about being unrealistic BUT just imagine the seriously unlikely scenario that we win tonight and results go our way. we get into the playoffs and somehow go up! Can you for 1 minute imagine that as a story after only a game ago we were pretty much all panicking about possibly playing league 1 football next season?
I know it's a hugely unlikely scenario but how much of an incredible turnaround would that be. Again, I know the chances are slim at absolute best but we can dream!
Realistically though, I've got renewed hope with my lookalike Brian Mcd in charge and have real optimism that he'll get us up and also have us playing good football too, just hope GBH give him some money this summer to do his stuff in the transfer market and he isn't hampered or trying to do it on a shoestring (even if he has a track record of finding cheap quality)
Here's to a positive future, Marching on Together with Harry Hill in charge whatever happens tonight or this season. let's all judge the new manager and owners on what happens next season and over the summer
He has the track record for reversing form
Gives us hope for next season. No chance of making play offs now. We would need Leicester Bolton Boro Brighton to lose their next 3 games. Some are playing each other, points will be dropped but no chance of us making it sadly

I know I know! There's no chance really however the fact we're actually playing football finally and not just hoofing it up field, we seem to have a manager that in little time has got buy in from the players, can spot a players best position and role (varney and diouf for example) is really encouraging and refreshing.
For once I think we have something to look forward to without it being a huge anti-climax
I just did the tv Championship predictor and lo and behold we finish 6th :-D
It's not as impossible as it sounds you know - Brighton now out of reach - only 6th is possible:
Next: Birmingham v Leeds (2) (61) 9th
Bolton v Boro (X) (64) 8th
Charlton v Wolves (X) (59)10th
Palace v Leicester (1) (64) 6th
Notts F v Barnsley (X) (64) 7th
Then:
Leicester v Watford (X) (65) 6th
Cardiff v Bolton (1) (64) 8th
Leeds v Brighton (1) (64) 9th
Millwall v Forest (1) (64) 7th
Finally:
Bolton v Blackpool (X) (65) 9th
Forest v Leicester (X) (65, 66)8/7
Watford v Leeds (2) (67) 6th
LOL - Come on Barnsley - other than that, not impossible?
"It's not as impossible as it sounds you know - Brighton now out of reach - only 6th is possible"
I don't know where you people learn maths?
Brighton are 4th with 66 points
Leeds are 11th with 58 points.
leeds have 3 games left which is a possible 9 points?
When I went to school 59 plus 9 made 68?
So in theory we can still beat Brighton?
We could also still finish 4TH by the same reasoning.
Okay I accept that it relies on all the teams above us losing and Leeds winning all three games, but it is STILL mathematically possible!
But why make statements that simply aren't true?
Especially when we still have to actually play Brighton?
Leeds4alongtime
Sorry mate your wrong, if you use maths like yu so patronisingly put it, the teams above us are playing each other so even if they draw we can't catch em - ie. palace, leicester and watford play each other brighton face leicester.
sorry ed for the attack but I had to point out that just adding points to your total doesn't work when looking at your chances.
"When I went to school 59 plus 9 made 68?"
Oops.
I meant 58 plus 9 made 67?
But still leaves us above Brighton in theory?
Actually, Mate, I am NOT wrong!
"brighton face leicester. "
They also face US and Blackpool, so if Brighton LOSE all 3 games and we WIN all 3 games we still end up above them?
What part of 58 points plus 9 more gives more than 66 points and no more don't you understand?
Sorry Ed but maths is maths not supposition based on other teams.
Its true that if results play out in certain ways, then we could reach the play-offs.
Its also positive the teams above us are playing each other!
A few different results can make the difference.
Lets just hope we can win all of our remaining games, then we can focus on other peoples results!
Look I hope we win every week like everyone on here, but I concede if every result goes our way we will make it by a point, but that means every team above has to go into relegation form.
Now optimism is one thing self delusion is another "maths shmaths" also our goal difference "maths" states were screwed.

i must admit to a sense of optimism at the moment, which makes a pleasant change. I am not counting chickens but I like what the board have done so far, reducing prices and making a swift move for a manager with good credentials, I also like talk of a new passing style as opposed to hoofball. I think its just possible we may have a potential strikeforce that could challenge next season-a fit morison with a good pre season, a much improved varney, somma with a good pre season mccormack and with young poleon as back up, if mcd can get the best out of them we could challenge!
Completely agree mate, nice to see a positive post in here! I said when GFH took over that I thought the summer will show their true intentions are how committed they are, so far so good and really my hope now is that Brian Mc is given a decent budget to get some quality in ready to mount a real challenge for promotion next season
Somma is out of contract in summer, hopefully he gets an extension but nobody has seen him play fully, McDermot may see something as he got a run out tonight. Hope he stays. Good impact sub

Would be good to also see Ashdown in goal in place of fatty Kenny, too?
Cant believe their are people still attacking Kenny, grow up

im going to say leeds will be 4 points behind brighton after the next 2 games with 2 games to go and 1 of them been brighton.

Can't make the game tonite working away can I listen to super Leeds on the radio?

On byram. Think whether he stays or goes will be up to mcd
Either way. Would it not be good business to accept 6 or 8 mill for him as i'm sure he could be replaced for 3 and still leaves 3-5 for creative midfielder and or striker. I am expecting gfh to organise more investors during close season to stabalise club. Mcd will sell orher players as well as poss byram which will leave more money to buy. I think he is way too smart to decimate the team like warnock. I expect a few deadwood to go and maybe 2-3 first teamers as well. Then get 2-3 newbees in along with what he spends if he sells byram. Think be will focus on quality rather than quantity. After all. As my wife always says, its not about tge size just the quality. i'm sure shes right! Maybe do a bit of tweaking in january, or maybe we won't need to. One thing is for sure. Next season will ve damn sight better than this one. Fact!
16 Apr 2013 11:59:24
the thing is no1 really fully trusts the board right now which isn't gfh s fault .
bates did some ok deals
howson sold for 2 mil
snoddy sold for 3 mil
gradel for 1. 5
all good buisness from bates side of things as they cost next to nothing , the problem is none of this money went back on players and this is where the trust issues are.
everyone knows we have been left with some bills to pay like 6 million or something which gfh will want to clear quickly so they can start making a profit. so if byram sold for 6 mil I think half would go on players and the other half would go to paying off debts.
i think if he goes for 8 or even 10 mil we will still only spend 3 on players maybe we would be able to pay a little more towards better players wages and the rest would pay off the debt.
They are trying to get investment from elsewhere. So i'm hoping this is true and tbat will leave transfer money for new players. Understand the trust thing but hope that greed is a thing of the past
Football rarely works that way. 3 average players don't replace one outstanding one.
$3m would replace byram easly. he's good but not outstanding
16 Apr 2013 00:22:39
garath mccleary anyone?
I said the same last year. the longer they wait the higher his price goes up and there are bigger teams wanting him. I think Leeds are too late for him now.
16 Apr 2013 00:07:58
If leeds were smart and want a goos pacey player who ia young and hungry they will go after melbourne victorys rojas scores goals and has the pace that leeds need
Agree. In fact I think scouts should check him out if tbey read this site.
If they don't read this site then they should. 15 minutes a day will prob keep the sack away! Track record is crap city.
Have u seen him play before are u from Australia?hed fit in well and shouldn't cost to much

He just won a-league player of the year and young player of the year and apparently has several european offers on the table
