Lighthearted and meant as banter before anyone starts slagging off or whinging about being unrealistic BUT just imagine the seriously unlikely scenario that we win tonight and results go our way. we get into the playoffs and somehow go up! Can you for 1 minute imagine that as a story after only a game ago we were pretty much all panicking about possibly playing league 1 football next season?

I know it's a hugely unlikely scenario but how much of an incredible turnaround would that be. Again, I know the chances are slim at absolute best but we can dream!

Realistically though, I've got renewed hope with my lookalike Brian Mcd in charge and have real optimism that he'll get us up and also have us playing good football too, just hope GBH give him some money this summer to do his stuff in the transfer market and he isn't hampered or trying to do it on a shoestring (even if he has a track record of finding cheap quality)

Here's to a positive future, Marching on Together with Harry Hill in charge whatever happens tonight or this season. let's all judge the new manager and owners on what happens next season and over the summer

al1977

1.) He has the track record for reversing form

2.) Gives us hope for next season. No chance of making play offs now. We would need Leicester Bolton Boro Brighton to lose their next 3 games. Some are playing each other, points will be dropped but no chance of us making it sadly

Crmd

3.) I know I know! There's no chance really however the fact we're actually playing football finally and not just hoofing it up field, we seem to have a manager that in little time has got buy in from the players, can spot a players best position and role (varney and diouf for example) is really encouraging and refreshing.

For once I think we have something to look forward to without it being a huge anti-climax

4.) I just did the tv Championship predictor and lo and behold we finish 6th :-D

It's not as impossible as it sounds you know - Brighton now out of reach - only 6th is possible:

Next: Birmingham v Leeds (2) (61) 9th
Bolton v Boro (X) (64) 8th
Charlton v Wolves (X) (59)10th
Palace v Leicester (1) (64) 6th
Notts F v Barnsley (X) (64) 7th
Then:
Leicester v Watford (X) (65) 6th
Cardiff v Bolton (1) (64) 8th
Leeds v Brighton (1) (64) 9th
Millwall v Forest (1) (64) 7th
Finally:
Bolton v Blackpool (X) (65) 9th
Forest v Leicester (X) (65, 66)8/7
Watford v Leeds (2) (67) 6th

LOL - Come on Barnsley - other than that, not impossible?

5.) "It's not as impossible as it sounds you know - Brighton now out of reach - only 6th is possible"

I don't know where you people learn maths?

Brighton are 4th with 66 points

Leeds are 11th with 58 points.

leeds have 3 games left which is a possible 9 points?

When I went to school 59 plus 9 made 68?

So in theory we can still beat Brighton?

We could also still finish 4TH by the same reasoning.

Okay I accept that it relies on all the teams above us losing and Leeds winning all three games, but it is STILL mathematically possible!

But why make statements that simply aren't true?

Especially when we still have to actually play Brighton?

Leeds4alongtime

6.) Sorry mate your wrong, if you use maths like yu so patronisingly put it, the teams above us are playing each other so even if they draw we can't catch em - ie. palace, leicester and watford play each other brighton face leicester.
sorry ed for the attack but I had to point out that just adding points to your total doesn't work when looking at your chances.

7.) "When I went to school 59 plus 9 made 68?"

Oops.

I meant 58 plus 9 made 67?

But still leaves us above Brighton in theory?

8.) Actually, Mate, I am NOT wrong!

"brighton face leicester. "

They also face US and Blackpool, so if Brighton LOSE all 3 games and we WIN all 3 games we still end up above them?

What part of 58 points plus 9 more gives more than 66 points and no more don't you understand?

Sorry Ed but maths is maths not supposition based on other teams.

9.) Its true that if results play out in certain ways, then we could reach the play-offs.
Its also positive the teams above us are playing each other!
A few different results can make the difference.
Lets just hope we can win all of our remaining games, then we can focus on other peoples results!

10.) Look I hope we win every week like everyone on here, but I concede if every result goes our way we will make it by a point, but that means every team above has to go into relegation form.
Now optimism is one thing self delusion is another "maths shmaths" also our goal difference "maths" states were screwed.

Please with a point tonight - I think we would have all taken that prior to the game although its gutting to concede so late on.

Positive point first being that the performances recently seem to have been a lot better and especially defensively we seem much stronger

Negatively, I really am not sure about Morison, he may work hard BUT he doesn't seem to be a goal scorer and regardless of what's been said about Becchio, he scored goals. Morison doesn't look like he can replace Becchios goals which is especially concerning when Ross seems to be off form.

If we can get Ross Mc scoring I actually think we still have a chance of the play off as we seem hard to beat at the moment. just worry about where the goals are coming from. Still MOT and keeping positive

al1977

1.) Sorry mate but I don't share your optimism. Realistically we will need 25 more points to make the play offs (based on the last number of seasons). That's 25 from a possible 33. Losing 2 points at the death tonight leaves us with less wriggle room. We need 8 wins and a draw from 11 games. Can't see it happening myself. 35 games into a season is a bit late for a Manager to be getting his act together.

2.) Why sign Hall and Habibou if your never going to play them? Makes no sense at all

Feel compelled to post after tonight.

Great to see a good attendance first of all, as ever the Leeds fans are fantastic and the atmosphere in the stadium was a hell of a lot better

Credit to NW for changing the team for Sunday. Really think we look a lot better with Tonge, Green and Norris starting. Austin has been shocking since coming back from his injury and those 3 I really believe with a run of games can be a strong and consistent midfield for us

Delighted for Varney, he's had some stick but tonight he was outstanding and has shown the form which ironically he showed whilst at Blackpool when they were in the premiership. Again, with a run of games I think he could be key as be seems to a player who needs a run and the confidence that brings

Great to see Morison get his first goal, he could be key for us too and really hope he can kick on now and knock them in for us. Breaking your duck as a striker is always important and we need him firing if we're going to make the playoffs

Credit to GFH for dropping the prices to get the attendance up - regardless of what been said, they obviously know how important our fans our, we've proven time and again how great and noisy we are and how important a good attendance can be. if we get performances and results like tonight combined with lower prices (particularly midweek), the attendance will only ever improve, which means more money for the club and better atmosphere

Finally, I know this has been said many a time but this result against Blackpool could seriously give us the kick start we desperately need and want to set us off on a run and get us at least into the playoffs, looking at how we've performed in the cups, I'd actually really fancy out chances to be honest. I've seriously doubted Neil Warnock recently but have faith that if anyone can work some magic it's him

MOT come on Leeds, PLEASE let don't let this be false hope and let's put a run together and get into those playoffs!

1.) Although I agree with u 100% i'd be convinced if we just beat blackpool AWAY
Bainesyboy

2.) This season has given us so many ups and downs, beating the likes if spurs, Everton and Southampton have been great, tonight was another example of what we're capable of but whilst we can be great at times, we can also be horrific. If only there was some consistency we'd be in with a chance of promotion.

Again, it's clear that Tonge, Green and Norris are what we should be starting with in midfield and when NW plays people in their natural positions we aren't a bad team. fingers crossed we can build on this and at least make the playoffs. I'll reserve judgment for now but it's clear that we have the ability

Great news if true, sounds to be very highly rated across europe, a coup if we get him by all accounts, things are taking shape very nicely. Doukara & Bianchi sound like they could be key players for us this season already although its still very early days I'm cautiously optimistic

As much as I want this to be true, I just can't see us either paying that kind of money for 1 player or him being interested when the likes of top premiership teams, juve etc are sniffing. Truly hope I'm wrong as he'd be an incredible signing and sign of intent

Surprised to be honest as he was raved about when we signed him but we don't see him in training, perhaps he's not living upto the hype or potential or maybe his attitude isn't right. Either way I trust brian mc that he knows what he's doing and there's a good reason he's going

I like Jordan and he's no doubt had a great tutor in Harry however my worry with him is that at the age he's at surely he'd have already proven himself and I'm not sure I'd want us to take a risk on someone who is basically unproven. A younger manager who has shown at least some potential, can attract good quality players and who can get us playing good football is what we need - a Poyet type who we can give a chance to build. I think our next manager is hugely important, yes we've all got huge expectation and hope of promotion but I really hope we can attract a manager who gets us playing good football and will stick with us - for me some like a Brendan Rogers who is clearly talented, young, gets his teams playing good football, we've also got the history that if we get someone like that, I'd like to think we can keep hold of him too (I'll point out that I'm not suggesting we could attract Rogers either by the way!)

I agree with the comments that man city is not the kind of club he should go to (if true and if he goes) unless he wants to sit in their reserves & see little or no first team action however at that kind of fee, the choice might be out of his hands and most clubs who have a player a club is willing to pay that much for is likely to snap their hands off. in all fairness, unless you're one of the clubs with money and or billionaire owners, £8m for a player who has had 1 good season is a lot of money and regardless of what we'd like to think, every player has a price. I'd hate to see him go but at that level, you have to seriously consider it IF its all going to be reinvested in the squad

Didnt Pulis leave Palace because of the board interfering though? I think he could/would be great for us and exactly what we need BUT I can't see him even considering us. he'll wait for a prem club and 1 that allows him to manage the team 100%.

We've got Redders now, he did himself no harm earlier this season, the players seem to respect him and respond to him, let's see what he can do and give him the full backing he deserves

Cellino is doing a great job in my opinion so far. if Bates or GFH were in charge when Ross was sold he'd have gone for peanuts and we'd have been bent over yet again

Great post mate. I think ross had a genuine love for leeds but his relationship with BM was clearly strong and I think he is miffed he's gone and how it was handled. I live in bardsey 2 streets away from him, bumped into him frequently in collingham and he was genuinely a nice guy, saw him signing things, pics taken with kids when he clearly wanted to shoot home but he seemed to appreciate the fans. Think he'll miss leeds but hats off to cellino.clearly no mug as £11m is unreal. Slowly but surely he's rebuilding our club, no doubt doing some things which he'll get slated for but he has no choice with the mess left by bates and GFH. we all need to stick with him as I believe he'll get us out of the hole we're in and either make us very successful (back to the prem) or desirable when he comes to sell as there won't be all the Bates aftermath and blackholes

I get your frustration mate however how are we to know he hasn't had people lined up for both roles?! Take into account the financial mess, selling Cagliari and then the winding up petition, they are 3 key areas he NEEDED to sort - what coach or director of football would join us with all that going on, they'd have to be mad. Having all that sorted is a great statement of intent to players & staff alike NOT a club that physically can't pay anyone because of a frozen account, possibly being wound up and a shed load of debts coming out of the woodwork! Keep the faith mate, I trust he'll sort us out and I also bet he has players in mind if not already lined up too. dodgy as he supposedly is, if nothing else he'll know where to look for things that could bite us.theres some kind if positive in everything!

Totally agree mate, it is speculation though and we're going on what people believe/ claim to know rather than 100% what MC has said. Steve Clarke is without doubt my choice and fits the profile of what MC has clearly stated he wants. a great coach. I said ages ago he was my coice and that people such as Mourinho has repeatedly said how he's one of the best coaches he's ever worked with.hope tge likes of Hockaday and Hughton are wrong! All that said I'll get behind whoever is appointed until he proves the doubters right
