What's done is done. Hockaday is the new coach and is getting on his back will benefit the club in no way. Give him a chance and let's stop writing him off before we've played a game.

Totally agree

Hockaday isn't a name to attract good players. Massimo Cellino is.
I expect that the plan for this season will be to blood a lot of youngsters and we now have a coach who has pretty wide experience of working with kids.
Kids, however, will not get us promoted but nobody expects this to happen. Hockaday is an interim measure, in my opinion. He knows how to coach, won't be in as a 'yes man' as many seem to think. Will get more freedom than you might expect, to choose the team and tactics. He may even - and I haven't seen one of these at Leeds in nearly 15 years - he may even have a 'Plan B'.
Personally, I'll reserve judgement on whether he's ultimately any good for the long term aims of the club until at least Christmas.
He's here to bring on the kids and given how well our academy guys are doing, promoting one of them to the top spot would simply mean losing them in a year or two when Cellino pulls the trigger. Better to keep them where they are and put someone you can afford to lose in the head coach role.
This isn't the worst appointment ever. We're not going to be buying stars this summer. We're going to be blooding new ones this season.
That in itself is a pretty high risk strategy but, come Christmas we'll know. the court cases will be done. more money will be freed up as the rest of the dross come to the end of their contract and we're all ready to go with a decent push in 2015/16 when I don't expect Hockaday to be the man in charge, anyway.
Cellino's taking a pretty clever risk which could seriously backfire but, at least it's a more interesting development than bringing in a known manager who lines his own pocket and brings in his buddies.
Bring on the kids.

Well said mate. Wether we like it or not. We have got him and its not his fault. Who wouldn't turn the job down in his position? So let's back him
at least he wants the job. May surprise a few I think

To true to both of the last posts ,hopefully M C will attract some decent players in his interview there was a hint of trying to get rid of current players ,dead wood ,or am I the only one who got that impression

5.) 20 Jun 2014
We'll see what happens in say 3 months

6.) 20 Jun 2014
I agree with the above statements except didn't the kids do well for dreary Oleary!
Think kids who haven't been paid thousands will do a job for you, might be a bit naive but at least they will give ya 100% commitment n effort not like the Drabble last season ;)

7.) 20 Jun 2014
Here here give him a chance! Let's be fair he can't do any worse M.O.T

8.) 20 Jun 2014
Let's see if your all talking like this when were in the relegation dog fight. If he was any good don't you think he would he would have been snapped up in his 20 yrs of managing/coaching by a big club not stuck in lower leagues? I for one ain't holding my breath for success under him

9.) 20 Jun 2014
Maybe we won't be so happy come the end of the season but at least if we don't rate him by then we will have some basis to be negative, but what's the point in writing him off before a ball has been kicked? I'd rather get behind the team and the manager until he gives me a reason to slate him. At the end of the day it gets dark and we all want the same thing as leeds supporters so no point arguing with each other.

Another victor Meldrew on the site ffs, wake up man If he don't cut the mustard he will be gone.
MC will buy the players and wackaday coach them, your NOT going to get a top manager/coach being told who to play I'm afraid!
Like it or lump it ;(

11.) 20 Jun 2014
Andy MOT it's not been a victor meldrew I'm just been a realist and saying what tens of thousands more are thinking. Listen to what the forest green fans say about him he talks a good excuse does that remind you of anyone (warnock) this could possibly be the worst signing/mistake this once great club has ever made, I'm betting Carbone has taken control of first team affairs before Christmas.

12.) 20 Jun 2014
I'm with Martyn_g. Just because it's done! Doesn't mean we should approve! If MC employed Coco the Clown should we get behind him too just because it had "been done"? How many clowns do we "get behind" before the circus ends? Leeds need a quality manager to take us forward! Not a roll of the dice in the hope Wackaday MAY come good! We deserve better than that! MOT

Tens of thousands? Where do you get your figures from GFH?
If your a supporter support the team you love, if Wackaday don't cut it after 12 months by all means moan, groan and shout but for god sake give the guy a chance!

14.) 22 Jun 2014
Andy wake up and smell the coffee, I've given every manager a chance to do well but his track record is worse than any other manager/coach we have ever had, before getting sack from NON LEAGUE F/green he lost 7 out of 8 games so what makes you think he's any chance of cutting it here? If he was really any good do you not think he would have been snapped up well before now by one of the big clubs so in twelve months we will be back at square one, mid table and saying let's give the new manager a chance sounds like ground hog day to me. I'll never stop supporting the players but I've no confidence in whackaday and won't go while he's sat in the dug out he's a phoney

I agree in 12 months time we probably will be saying give the next coach a chance, you've not even given him a chance!
Also when he does go it won't cost us millions like it has done over the past (20yrs) then hover on the brink of administration!

Watch-support-criticise ;)
