As the whole debate over Orta rages on, I would actually keep him in the club but it's his job title and role which wants a demotion and limiting. By all means he should be our Mediterranean youth scout but nothing more. He seems to have an ability to identify and acquire possible gems but that's it. He should have no extra role. Director of football is laughable. Give that role back to the manager in this case Hecky but don't see him lasting long either. We should really tempt Wenger with a new project in the summer. As for Orta, he should be nowhere near making first team player recruitment decisions but he does have a small applicable use. If only Radz would see that but he ain't a football person. To an extent we are still smarting from the shutdown of the academy by Massimo but we are back up and running on that now so it's time to award Orta his true title and if he don't like it he can sling his hook. I never liked him. I told all you guys after his first presser.

Quique Sanchez Flores has recently become available too ;-)

A good post George. I agree a scouting post at best for him or he can do one. Would love to see Wenger come in as you say, but Radz seems to be content shopping in the bargain basement.

There's nothing wrong with scouting in the bargain basement if that's all you can afford. I would love to buy from Harvey Nicks but you are more likely to find me in the market. I make the best of what I can afford and sometimes I stumble on real bargains.

Fair point, but we are talking about Leeds United here, and getting bargain basement signings we will always struggle to get the promotion everybody who supports the Club want to see.

With the mention of Mr Wenger, I'm sure he was a man to go and find some outstanding youths from overseas, offer him the DoF role, although he will be moved upstairs at the gooners

Has everyone on here been smoking some seriously strong strain of super skunk or something? Wenger ! Wenger! Really? We’ve got more chance of platting diarrhoea! Most of Europe’s elite will be making offers to Wenger not to mention the Chinese and Japanese and probably the MLS offering insane pay, so I ask again why would Wenger come to leeds? I love our club but it’s time a lot of the fans took a huge reality check! We are no longer a big draw we are no longer a big club we are a small team. The only thing big about our club is it’s fans and our loyalty. I genuinely fear I will never see my beloved club back where it belongs.

Great post George. Orta as you say has a role to play but not as now. Its time to hire a manager with control over the first team and Orta as chief of overseas scouting. Heres hoping.

Dleedsm. yep. Anyone mentioning Wenger needs to send whatever they're drinking or smoking to my PO Box number, which I can provide privately!

Thanks guys. As for Wenger, of course it's unrealistic but that's what we should be doing. He won't go upstairs at Arsenal immediately or at all because the new manager will feel intimidated. Neither will he manage a team presently in the PL. No point. He would need a different project. He'll get offers for sure from China but maybe money isn't important to him and maybe staying in England is. He's been complimentary about Leeds in the past. Maybe a million pound a year salary would tempt him and chance to work with our youngsters. Radz needs to aim higher than wot the.

{Ed001's Note - I would not expect you can compete with PSG Georgie. They have a role for him. Especially as Wenger has very publicly said he does not want to work for another English club other than Arsenal. Doesn't hurt to try though I guess.}

Ed001 PSG well and truly out of our league. Surely though the allure of Yorkshire folk, working with the likes of Sacko, Grot and that defensive genius Cooper would be sufficient to see him work at ER and refuse those millions a year working in your home country for a highly successful and financially mighty club?

{Ed001's Note - like I said it would be worth a try, as obviously PSG's pittance can't compare with the draw of the Yorkshire Dales. I just think his insistence he does not want to work for another English club other than Arsenal might sway him towards the lesser option of little PSG.}
