Nice to see we are going up as champions again this morning and it seems opinions are changing about our squad as well. All I would say is that one swallow doesn't make a summer, we still need reinforcements and Forest are behind us in terms of preseason as the Prem League season doesn't start as soon as the Champ season does, therefore they are behind in terms of fitness etc. Don't read too much into any friendly.

Not sure who thinks we’re going up as champions, but I always thought that last nights game was going to give us a more realistic picture of where we’re at and it did. Still outgoings and ingoings to be managed but encouraging, particularly as our one purchase so far is making quite an impression!

Alf - as per my earlier email, the Prem season does indeed start after the Champ, but Cooper’s had his squad in preseason training as long as our squad, and they’ve had one more official preseason match than us. So no, they’re not behind us in fitness etc. But of course that doesn’t get away from the fact that Forest were shockingly bad last night, and indeed we shouldn’t take anything more than moderate encouragement from our display against them.

If after Darlow we can bring in Kamara (or similar) , a CF, further right-footed cover at CB, CAM and an actual LB by the end of the window, we should be in decent shape for at least the first half of the season, even if we do lose a winger or 2.

Totally agree Alf, . previous pre seasons when we are normally pasted the line is

Oh it's just pre season, your foolish to read anything other than squad assessment or fitness into those games

Last night we beat forest who are also woeful but weren't as woeful as us over a previous season and now it's oh, judging by that game we look good .

Our squad needs huge change because we won't go up as we are, no matter what way a 2 nil friendly win makes polite reading this morning .

If what Blanco said is correct (FFP) being issue blocking transfers then we are in a pickle, because absolutely no 1 in Champo will fear 1 jot about Leeds utd .

We are so easy to play against and usual problems will again plaque this squad

Conceding, mindset, injuries, individual errors . These are all things that happen to others also, but we are masters of it

So without recruitment I predict no riot.

I don't think anyone is getting carried away. I think Forest were very poor and I expect them to struggle next season, but they should survive. However, I think Forest should represent the level we are at, i. e. lower EPL ~ High EFL? [Hopefully]. I was somewhat encouraged by last night and I think folks should keep things in perspective; imagine the vitriol here had we lost?

I agree Chris, we continue to have our fair share of individual / team errors, but when you're at the bottom of the league they some how matter more; logically it says so; if we were popping them in for fun up front then conceding a daft goal cannot matter as much. Indeed missing a sitter doesn't matter if you're creating dozens of chances. I hope our mistakes, and there will be plenty, won't matter as much this season.

I think we're getting to the point in pre-season where we can all start to put in a prediction for the season. I'm not quite as pessimistic as Baz and think we will flirt with the play-off's all season, but at the same time, I cannot see us getting automatic.

I think promotion won't happen this season, sadly. I hope Farke is given a proper chance by the board and the fans. I see it a 3 year project. As good as it was last night, I don't think there was a single "EPL level" player on show.

Guys, far to early to write off the season or to assume promotion. Don’t underestimate what a good Coach with a decent “team” of players can achieve in the championship. But lots to do. Still think coach appointment and player bought so far shows we’re getting it right but it’s steady and have I mentioned the P word! It’s a virtue you know,

I think we need to at least get to the end of the transfer window before we can judge our chances this year. We still have no idea what the squad will look like.

Not at all Brighty pal, bitter ain't my drive, it's just grounded built-in reality, we know what happened and that hurt a lot, now the side is decimated with departures and we ain't getting replacements.

We lost pair of games also pre season which were quickly forgotten about,

Then we beat forest and there's many posts of optimism, to me that's silly and no way suggestive of any improvement for our season to come .

I will always be on the doom side of this forum ?, so I spose fundamentally we will always see the current status quo differently Brighty pal .
