Not disappointed at all today. sounds like we played well and we're unlucky. I do feel that the way the football pyramid works stinks though and today has highlighted again. -
A team who were dreadful last season and were clearly unable to complete in the Orem are rewarded for total failure in their parachute payments. any team with a billionaire owner and then 50 / 100m payments should be walking away with this league! Let's face it it stinks that teams who are so bad they can't win for months in the prem get given the money to pay £15m on one player! If you get relegated then surely you should get whatever any other team in that division gets! If I do a bad job at work I wouldn't get loads of money to try and get better, I'd be told to not come back!

Ben. Spot on. Some would say corrupt. I couldn't possibly comment.

Just had to come and have a look after what's been said by a few Leeds fans on Twitter etc regarding this, your not the first to bring this up about "parachute payments", but it's such an inaccurate statement. They have not helped us in anyway at all we haven't even touched them. We recouped £90m from player sales, how can you not expect us to reinvest? We made £30m profit and have built a decent squad, what do you want us to do say sorry about Liverpool/Spurs wanting to pay £25/30m for a few overrated individuals in wijnaldum and sissoko? Villa actually spent £50m this season and look where they are. albeit their signings aren't as good as ours overall I think. But do you see my point, rafa is rebuilding us and we are now being run properly. Anyway it was a decent game with a good atmosphere from both fans, all honesty it was a premier league game in the championship. Your in good hands with Garry monk and put up a fight and I think you'll make playoffs, it would be nice to see Leeds back in the prem.

sorry leeds fans but I have to agree with jtoon on this. 1stly toon have re-invested and sold well, I thought they would sturggle but keeping rafa was their saving and it is showing on the pitch. also coming down from prem is not always easy look how many teams have sturggled like villa who are still pony. finally I agree with parachute payments 1stly religated prem teams have to cope with prem wages in championship also football sadly is business and in business the bigger players get better pay if in prem you get more money as a product and should be entitled to that money. we will not be complaining in a few years when it is us spending our parachute payments on a re-re-return to the prem after going up and coming down to go back up (and stay eventually) here is to two big clubs with great fans on what hopefully will be a good season for both. this said I do think newcastle is dangerously close to scotland and for such reasons they should be re-moved from english league but apprently this is unreasonalble so I do wish them and their great team and fans the best.

Bermondsey you are correct that better players have more wages, but if you are a business and you fail then you should have a contingency plan in place, not rely on the money you receive for failure. If any other business is so bad they fail then people loose their jobs, cuts are made, wages halved etc! I agree that Newcastle have so great players and a wonderful manager, but that wasn't my point. Yes villa are struggling, but they still went and spent £15m on McCormick. Surely that £15m should have gone on sustaining the club, rather than giving them a massively unfair advantage in this league.

It's not really just about the parachute payments. The general point I was meaning is that there is an obscene amount of money in the premiership compared to the championship, and lower leagues. The system should be revised so there's more of a level playing field and more clubs have a chance of progressing even without Chinese trillionaire owners. I know such owners don't always guarantee success, but how many times do we talk about being 2 or 3 0players away from promotion. That would be 2 or 3 quality players we could never afford.

i do see your point ben and do agree and speedy is right the money between the prem and champ is very vast but sadly that is business, the money between west end shows and off west end shows is also vast. sadly prem is worth more so clubs get more and spend more. I think we should be positive, soon we will be in the prem and then that moeny will be ours and then it will not seem so bad I promsie.
