Up to the end of the 1970s winning the FA Cup was arguably a bigger more glamorous prestiguous trophy than even winning the league.

The televised final was a national event for man, woman and child (even those who didn't follow football particularly ) watched by most of the country.

Ever since tne FACup " magic" has seriously been on the wane to the point in 2025 where it genuinely holds little to no interest nor any real prestige for most/ many.

Remember being unable to decide whether to watch the cup on the Beeb or ITV! And the build up was hours before kickoff, and weeks before that! It was a glorious competition, and global, destroyed by the PL and CL. Quite a sad demise really.
