With 4 weeks left in the window, do you think Hamar, Solomon, a striker would be enough
( aside from needing two full backs as back up)
Or would you think we need better than the two names mentioned above?

Need better. No cheap cop outs. Like Solomon and he did well in champ. But we need a starter. And to me radz gnonto or solo ain’t it.

Fundamentally agree with you Aus, but you have to remember it’s not a level playing field.

We were stuffed on the Paxo transfer not because we would not pay up, it’s common knowledge we consistently bid higher than OM, but the player clearly preferred the champions league option even though they may go out very early.

And whether we like to admit it or not, Leeds isn’t a great draw in terms of night life for the player and their entourage and the history of promoted sides going straight back down doesn’t help either.

Sunderland supposedly have pinched our original targets even though I think they’ve overpaid and we’ve made better signings as a result.

But no team below the top six to date have secured a marquee signing this window, if the Sara rumours were true he’s more likely to go to Villa over us given the respective positions of both clubs.

Which is partly why I previously posted I would be happy if we got Manor back.

Of course we want the superstars and maximum investment, but I’m a realist, and we can’t make stars want to join us, and therefore, have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Need t pay up on some players who are either loan-able or some youngsters who might fancy a battle. McAtee (30m) , Grealish, Sancho, a few eggs into the shadows we should throw big loan money at. All the buys so far are unproven in the PL. it’s like we are doing the same again. Don’t want that pain.

Great post Class. Entirely agree with all of that. Really don't fancy Hamer, undoubtedly has talent but there are too many issues for me with attitude/ fitness. We need full back cover, winger and striker as a minimum.

I have to agree, that Hamer is probably not a priority target neither is Manor, they are probably very last resort kind of targets on 31st August if all else has failed.

My worry is that Parag has stated more than once that we’ve been working on targets since Feb or April, well it’s bloody August now champ so what’s the hold up?


We seem to be so slow at getting deals over the line.

Yes I’m happy with the lads we’ve brought in so far but they’ve all taken an age to get done, even a medical takes us 3 days to do.

They said they had a comprehensive list in order of priority, I feel we were lead a merry dance by Feyenoord and wasted loads of time when let’s be honest none of us thought he would end up coming.
And I might add none of us had heard of prior to our interest.

Might be very different if we add some serious quality over the next week

I mean even mild mannered Mr Farke is clearly frustrated and not happy with the transfer window this far.

I appreciate the calls for Grealish and Sáncho etc but that’s a level or 2 above where we are at, the wages are astronomical even subsidised it would be too much for us right now.

Oddly enough, Kalimuendo was originally targeted by Orta and Marsch, and we are reportedly looking at him again. Guessand has been on the possible list since we were promoted, and we've held talks with Leicester already on a few targets. At least some of that list is quite likely at a guess.
