£20m for a 28 yr old player with 15 prem starts is a little rich for me. Would rather we aim for someone who has been a regular starter if we are paying that much or an older, proven pair of gloves to ride out a season or 2 till Mesilier is prem ready (don't think he is far off tbf) .

If Martines is available, buy hin at £20 million . he is reliable to good the gk position is crucial and we currently have Calamity Kiko as back up to Meslier which is foolhardy.

Mike had a similar lack of experience although he was at a good club and look what happened there. I would be nervous about getting someone with limited experience again. Meslier can do a job for us (I pray)

Agree Bazooka, Martinez worth buying and we do need a decent keeper to back up Mesilier. 28 is no age for a keeper so paying £20 million is good business for a decent keeper. Getting a seasoned professional from the premiership who is a regular starter then you have to pay the going rate. Chelsea paid a world record fee a few seasons ago for a keeper who can't get a game now. We won't go for Martinez unfortunately and expect him to end up somewhere like Villa or Brighton, we will let that boat sail again.
