The Lang rumours refuse to go away despite Bielsa allegedly turning him down. Has had a great start to the season.

1.) 25 Sep 2021 21:03:15
he will go to a CL team end of.

2.) 27 Sep 2021 13:56:33
He's already at a CL team.

3.) 27 Sep 2021 19:30:21
correct Alf
and he will go to a (much) BIGGER CL team.

14 Sep 2021 13:38:49
Leeds will appeal the Struijk Red card.

Hosanna, Robbie Gotts and Jordan Stevens all looking at the exit door today with probable League 2 clubs their destinations. Recruited to bolster our Championship side, these exits demonstrate just how short of the mark the majority of our youth signings have fallen and why we shouldn't be wasting so many resources attempting to unearth the next big thing.

1.) 31 Aug 2021 16:56:25
OK Massimo.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 17:55:42
Alf, as you said yourself - they were recruited to bolster our Championship side - their moving on does nothing to support your contention re resources going on buying for the U23s. Had we still been in the Championship, they would have been decent squad players for us.

The lads we’re buying now are recruited to slot into our Prem side in the next year or two, and makes total sense. If we waited until they were Prem ready, we’d be paying £10-25m+ for each of them, and we’d still need to mould them to Bielsaball before they could be fully effective for us.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 22:30:13
Alf honestly! Robbie Gotts has been at Leeds for 15 years! Bryce Hosannah was released by Crystal Palace and then signed for Leeds, no fee. Jordan Stevens was an undisclosed fee from Forest Green, not millions I would imagine. Bryce has had great injury problems and Jordan’s problems of a different variety. All played a great part in the clubs under 23 success and particularly Robbie and Jordan as championship squad members. All now have professional football contracts with EFL teams and the chance like, Ayling and Cooper to prove themselves again and good luck to them!

I love what we’ve done with the under 23s during the championship and now. Lots of the last crop got overtaken by our success but we are now building quite a team of players.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 23:26:06
Excellent post Spaniard. Shame about Gotts. He's going to be a PL player one day.

31 Aug 2021 08:20:42
Daily Nazi reporting that the James deal is done for £25m plus an additional £5m add ons.

1.) 31 Aug 2021 08:30:42
Oh joy.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 10:45:01
Damn Jenkins! Costing an extra 20mill because of that pillock!

3.) 31 Aug 2021 10:49:05
Martyn Watch out for the rose tinted glasses brigade.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 10:50:51
Alf Are the add ons subject to how many sugar cubes he ingests over a course of a season?

5.) 31 Aug 2021 11:43:28
Overpriced, overrated and I’m underwhelmed.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 11:58:28
Spot on martyn.

7.) 31 Aug 2021 11:58:53
You're on a collision course with Axe though, big fella. You echo my own thoughts if that wasn't already apparent. Blooding Summerville instead and he'd be better than James in a couple of years.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 12:27:01
That was my thoughts as well George the kid has grafted to get his chance and will be pushed down the pecking order again unless Costa goes on loan to Bradford or Scarborough.

9.) 31 Aug 2021 12:27:50
You never know guys, Bielsa could turn James into the new Giggs and Raph into the new Messi and then it's all gravy.

10.) 31 Aug 2021 13:17:33
I love gravy.

11.) 31 Aug 2021 16:15:23
Think Bubs will turn him into a star!

25 Aug 2021 23:01:37
Leeds United are battling West Brom for USA international Daryl Dike, with a potential loan deal on the cards.

1.) 25 Aug 2021 23:35:25
Alf How do you know? More eavesdropping during your vital doily placement at a board meeting?

2.) 26 Aug 2021 06:39:50
I was slicing lemons to put in the board members drinks this week George.

3.) 26 Aug 2021 09:14:18
Lemons Again.

4.) 26 Aug 2021 15:38:58
Times are hard at Leeds Martyn, its all they can afford.

5.) 27 Aug 2021 16:22:13
Hilarious Martyn.

We were brilliant for the first 40 mins but sadly seemed to tire and then saw some crucial decisions go against us. Raph going off was a huge blow as well as afterward we had no outlet and seemed to invite pressure. We just didn't get the ball forward in the second half so not much for the forwards to feed on. The next 4 definitely winnable so this is where we really need to start putting a run together. Real shame we couldn't build on our great start and grab a second.

1.) 26 Sep 2021 11:50:44
To keep the pressure up out wide surely the swap would have been Somerville for Raphina. I was slightly puzzled ith the James substitution. Was he playing so badly?

2.) 26 Sep 2021 15:53:56
I didn't think James was having a bad game but expect the substitution was about giving Harrison some game time. Seemed strange to change a team who were on top though, I would have imagined maybe the first change on 60mins after bedding in to the second half a bit more but what do I know?

23 Sep 2021 12:50:08
Sadly Dallas has been one of our poorer players so far this season. I've now taken him out of my fantasy side though so that means he might have a great game on Satdi.

1.) 23 Sep 2021 15:25:23
Indeed he has, it is possible that the personal issues which kept him out of NI have been around all season, but he’s been able to play for us as it doesn’t take him away from home and his family.

Great you’ve taken him out of your fantasy team, as that will obviously have a positive impact on his form. To be honest, I’ve not had him in my team at all this season, as being re-categorised as a midfielder he gets 3 points less for a clean sheet and one less for a goal, so he’s worse value, particularly as his starting price was higher. Another reason for wanting Drameh as a starter at RB, at 4.0m he could turn out to be an fpl gem - so long as you didn’t put him in your squad Alf😜.

2.) 23 Sep 2021 23:21:39
No I had Bamfprd but took him out before he scored at Burnley. No Leeds players now, too much of a risk so Drameh may well get a game!

23 Sep 2021 10:07:59
Arsenal away I the cup. We very rarely seem to get home draws in the cups - annoying.

1.) 23 Sep 2021 11:29:54
Alf - in the League Cup we’ve not done too badly in terms of being drawn at home. It could be that our contriving to loose very winnable home games in the previous three seasons, v Hull, Stoke and Preston tricks our memories into thinking of them as away games too. However, the FA Cup is a very different story - our last home game in that competition was a 2-0 victory over the mighty Rotherham on 9 January 2016. Since then we’ve had away games at, Bolton, Watford, Cambridge, Sutton, Newport, QPR, Arsenal and Crawley. Though looking at those, how we managed to win only two of them (Bolton and Cambridge) is quite another story.

2.) 23 Sep 2021 12:47:31
Yes if we've not been drawn at home in the first round that has pretty much been it for most years!

21 Sep 2021 23:08:04
Thought a very makeshift team did extremely well tonight against a Fulham side that constantly harried us and we're also very physical. Ref should have got a card out a few times I thought to calm them down as they just kept getting away with it. Great ro see the younglings hold their own against one of the better Champ sides and the experience will do the world of good, as will the result. Firpo will a cracking penalty that shows there is a player in there and Gelhardt and McKinstry did superbly with their pens as well. Rodrigo did well to have the courage to take the first. Summerville excellent - looking forward to seeing more of him. Overall a pleading result in The Smoke and hopefully one that will help breathe a bit of life back into our season. On on on.

1.) 22 Sep 2021 09:26:07
I think Sunderland or Preston would probably be the best draw for next round. would be another chance to give the young guns a run out, even if the injury situation improves. Would be even better at home of course, so they could savour Elland Road in full song.

That said, I’d hope a fair few will turn for the 5 u23 games which are played there later this season - first of which is on 29 October v Arsenal.

2.) 22 Sep 2021 19:19:01
How good is Summerville really? Haven’t seen much u23 lately and his performance at weekend was ok but he never actually took a man on and got to the byline.
Basically what I’m saying is he a typical winger that beats defenders and gets crosses in.

21 Sep 2021 15:34:36
If you remember when Llorente got crocked pre season I heard from inside the club that initially he was expected to take quarter of the season to be back. I believe his return was subsequently rushed, which led to a recurrance shortly afterwards. I fear we will rush him back again and the same could happen, whereas the club should have actually given him a proper recovery period after the initial injury and the same now so that he has a chance of staying fit and injury free.

Yes it was a loan offer by all accounts but would have left us even lighter in terms of our squad and maybe we would still have been paying a portion of his wages. Also some sources reporting at the time it was only semi serious.

In the meantime while the appeal goes through does that mean we can play Struijk against Newcastle or will a decision have been reached by Friday?

Yes exactly. Every fan inside ER for a game should be behind every player in a Leeds shirt whether they rate them or not, and behind the team as well. Being at home should be an advantage for us, not something to worry about.

Im not saying that's what I think we should do. Merely trying to make sense of a baffling lack of strengthening by our board. Maybe they don't want to spend any money and prefer to try and make it with the u23s.

Who would you get instead of Bielsa?

Let's see how the next 4 games go before we get too panicky.

I actually don't think the board would mind if we went down. Could cash in on Philips and Raph and give the youth a chance to gel and get us promotion.
