Leeds could take Pulgar on a six-month loan without either an obligation or option to buy him.

Just seen that myself and a post claiming we are willing to pay 22.5 m for him! Maybe just click bait as usual.

2.) 20 Jan 2021 12:38:29
I don't think we will spend any money this window. c.v. is still effecting income and we are not currently in a worrying league position. In addition half of our latest signings are not even playing.

Leeds are linked with a potential January swoop for M’Bala Nzola, who has scored 9 goals in Seria A this year.

Rumours that Meslier has had a positive CV test which is why he wasn't on the bench at the weekend. Hope to god that isn't true or we are screwed.

1.) 14 Jan 2021 14:00:39
Looks like it's just a bit of panic from fans. Other than the 3 long term injuries Bielsa has said only Kalvin is unavailable for the game. That means Llorente, Roberts and Mesilier should all be good to go. Big relief, especially with Philips suspended.

Bit more news on the goings on at ER. We have been ordered by the PL to put down AstroTurf on the steps that away teams use to get to the pitch from the temporary dressing room.

For the pitch, A 300k investment has been made on a hybrid turf system called 'HTPro', a hybrid carpet reinforced turf system, produced as a partnership between Tillers Turf and Hewitt Sportsturf, who say the surface is an 'extreme high quality cultivated carpet-based turf, nursery grown on specially prepared nursery field plots designed to provide the best growing conditions. '

alftupper

1.) 22 Jan 2021 11:15:35
Blimey Alf, do you have shares in Tillers turf?

Or are you now rivalling or ER-Bard (Bermo) for the verbosity of your postings?

Either way I have called my stockbroker to buy up all the remaining shares in that company (investments can go down as well as up) .

2.) 22 Jan 2021 11:38:29
In my humble opinion this might just be the best investment we will make in January!
I know people will say it’s the same for both sides but I really think the pitch has had massive drain on our confidence in recent weeks!
In the Brighton game so many passes either over hit or behind the player! Bamford said the players were moaning after the game and these things soon start to affect confidence!
Hopefully get a decent surface down and let’s start pinging it around again!

3.) 22 Jan 2021 12:26:42
They’ve missed an opportunity here not selling off the old one, imagine turfing a patch of your garden with some of that hallowed turf.

4.) 22 Jan 2021 13:37:10
Yes please

And in my case, with my touch of a donkey (apologies to any donkeys reading) the state of it won't affect my passing game one bit.

5.) 22 Jan 2021 13:50:06
Don’t think it was good enough to roll up, class
New one was being grown for Spurs for future use!
Someone on Twitter asked if it comes with bus tyre tracks around the penalty area 😂.

6.) 22 Jan 2021 13:56:18
That’s excellent DSW! 😀.

7.) 22 Jan 2021 14:16:20
Was it pitch or walk to pitch?

8.) 22 Jan 2021 14:48:24
I copied and pasted it from elsewhere!

I totally agree. The pitch has been causing us major problems which is one reason why we are doing either away from home than at home I think so should make a massive difference. Yes its the same for both teams but some teams don't play it on the deck and so it doesn't make much difference them but makes a huge difference to us and Bielsaball.

Seen this post on fb and thought it was spot on:

The comments I'm reading about what people expect and what Bielsa should do is 💩💩.

Bielsa inherited a team that finished 14th in the championship and that team was terrible. Guess what, 6 of that terrible squad start most games for us this season - Cooper, Dallas, Alioski, Ayling, Philips and Klich. Without injury you could add Pablo to that list too.

Without Bielsa we would never be in the prem. The target for every single club coming into this league is to stay up and anything above 17th is a bonus.

We have been hammered with defensive injuries. Berardi probably would have played most games at CB this season and he was our 3rd choice last season before we signed 2 CBs. Struijk is struggling but he's still quite young and filling Philips boots is a mammoth task. I think Llorente has been brought in as a first choice CB but also backup for Philips when he misses a game. Llorente has played there before and has very similar traits to Philips.

We will lose games, we will continue to lose games and we are not a top 12 side in the league yet. I believe with a fully fit squad we will do more than just stay up but that still has to be the target. Bielsa and Orta will improve our squad and this will lead to players being better in 1v1 positions. After a few transfer windows, I believe we can challenge for top 10 but it won't be European football for another 3-5 seasons and I'm ok with that, especially after the last 16 years.

#MOT #ALAW.

Well done Alf 👍.

2.) 21 Jan 2021 15:07:06
Good post Alf -I was looking a few weeks ago at Bielsa Delivers, the Michael Gill book and compared the Championship team last year to those that are mid table this. Most weeks the starting line up has 8/ 9 of the same players. Not bad especially as one of the top performers White are missing.

I think we are in need of re-enforcements in this window. CB, DM LB and CF.

I do however have a few frustrations with MB for not rotating MK a little more

Whitey.

20 Jan 2021 22:31:37
Koch back in the gym after his surgery. Godspeed your recovery buddy - we are missing you.

alftupper

1.) 21 Jan 2021 00:37:15
I think as someone else mentioned Koch was prob cover for kp but a bonus he can cover defender. So unless loriente or cooper injured, in bad form or suspended then he will be on bench waiting.
I know cooper makes mistakes but so does the goalie, ayling, alioski, Dallas and kp. We can’t drop them all. It might be a case against the better teams to play Koch and Kp together and maybe sacrifice Rodrigo or even klich.

I’m not one to winge as you all know and I know we all entitled to our opinions but I don’t read bw posts anymore. I’m pretty sure over the last 6 weeks it’s been the same post copied and pasted but just jiggling the paragraphs round.

Even more controversially the constant rehash and abuse of villa fans is wearing a bit thin. I know they have a burden of being villa fans but constant abuse dressed up as banter from both sides is tedious. Hopefully from here on in we can be a bit more patient. Sometimes they make good points. Let’s hope that they are willing to be sensible if they absolutely need to post on here.

Prob not popular opinion but mine.

2.) 21 Jan 2021 04:27:12
Probably next year before they can build a partnership now but Llorente and Koch could give us a fantastic back line once they get up to speed.

3.) 21 Jan 2021 07:10:05
Aus, i thought Koch was just starting to fill the boots of Ben White quite nicely, taking a little longer to settle in than BW but this is the Premiership. I do like Struijk but still think he is still a little raw, invaluable experience for him right now getting some game time while Koch and Llorente are out. I can’t see a place for Coops next season as first choice but he’ll be an excellent backup.
Wouldn’t get to upset about everyone having a dig at the Villa boys. Dave is definitely only here to wind us up, he thinks he’s being very smart about it too, in fact it’s not smart just transparent and cynical.
Berm’s constant onslaught of Bielsa has worn beyond thin, I don’t mind some negative banter or picking faults with Bielsa, it’s just the daily repetitiveness of it is not readable anymore.

4.) 21 Jan 2021 07:58:30
Agree re Koch looking good in defence opti but seem to recall he was bought as kp cover. Anyway. Looking forward to the time we have him and loriente back, wherever they play.

5.) 21 Jan 2021 08:04:44
Aus . agree 100% with your post! Beyond tedious now!
Likewise have stopped reading Berms nonsense!
Think it’s more about attention and reaction!
Don’t understand why Villa fans are on her? Must be very bored!
Hopefully Koch making good recovery! Llorente to start against Newcastle! Think this good break will give the boys a chance to reset and go again! MOT.

6.) 21 Jan 2021 09:00:30
Same Aus, think the Villa lads should be banned from trying to get Leeds fans to bite on a Leeds fans page. Berm has always been boring and that of the same opinion and it’s generally always wrong but he twists it to make out everyone else is mixing his words?

7.) 21 Jan 2021 09:09:19
Don't think a german international was bought to sit on the bench and Coops is the one to drop out from Koch, Philips and Llorente.
If you add Klich's position in as well, it would give you 4 to play from 5 and with injuries, suspension and fatigue its nearly certain one of them would be missing most weeks in the season.
Agree with playing Koch alongside Philips in mid field and being more defensive especially away to the better sides.
This may have been the plan and because of injury MB had to revert back to original set up, which backfired a couple of times.

8.) 21 Jan 2021 09:36:07
Dsw. Bob on! Good post pal!

9.) 21 Jan 2021 09:57:50
Yeah down south.
I reckon just go at them hell for leva. Hopefully get first goal and they will fold.
Fingers crossed.

10.) 21 Jan 2021 09:49:34
Yeah Aus I said about Koch being the other DM either as a replacement for KP as required or even to play with him if in there game called for it.

Sadly I do not possess any Jeff like powers just read a Bielsa article couple of days after purchasing Koch.

Am now wondering that’s why we have never really bought a left back, let Douglas go as possibly Bub favours (when all fit) a back three from Llorente, Koch, Cooper, Ayling with the versatility of others like Dallas to make it a four?

I have no problem with Berm, everyone has equal rights on this site and we should not stipulate what is or isn’t acceptable or palatable to us, (even as personal opinions we are still often making unilateral statements) and your right Aus it’s simple to just ignore or not respond if you wish to but I don’t dispute for one second that Berm is a passionate Leeds supporter and I think contrary views are good to challenge my own opinions even if I might fervently disagree with his views.

11.) 21 Jan 2021 12:40:51
You are very correct concerning Berm’s post. We both vehemently opose each other’s opinions and have a choice as to whether we want to read each other’s post or to respond. There is nothing else to say on the subject.

12.) 21 Jan 2021 12:55:23
Sorry, got to agree with Class. That's why it's a forum with equal (and opposing) views and not a closed club for mutual backslappers. One of the outstanding merits for this site is the diametrically opposed (and often radical) opinion to be found, and long may it continue. To me it's the best team site there is but as I never read other teams sites it's somewhat of a restricted view however I do reserve the right to visit any site I wish to and even, reserve the right to make comments if I wish. Thogh why I would want to I have no idea? I also support anyone else's right to totally ignore every post I make, though a word of caution - anyone doing so will miss bright, incisive, educated and knowledgeable insights into the world of Leeds United. That was aimed at you, Marcelo!

20 Jan 2021 22:12:59
Fulham wasted £100m and went down. If we go down after spending £100m then we will have also wasted it and I wi be the first to condemn Orta for wasting money on rubbish. I don't see how that is the managers fault?

Besides doesn't that example prove that even if you spend £100m it doesn't mean you will be successful and it depends on whether the club has enough quality?

alftupper

1.) 20 Jan 2021 22:24:53
Fulham spent the £100m on more player

We have spent £100m on much fewer

So in theory we have bought higher quality players.

I for one applaud the policy. I am getting to watch good players in the shirt I love.

2.) 20 Jan 2021 23:20:02
axe I also applaud our policy fair play to rads for backing us and well done orta and Mb for brining these players in. part of my frustration is that I have such high hopes on the strength of our playing staff. I really rate them

alf I love you buddy but I don't get how if the money is wasted it ain't belisa fault

it is well known orta and belisa are in the transfers together. most famous is costa. belisa was walking unless we signed him. so belisa deserves praise if it goes well and condemning if it goes badly

how anyone would be willing to blame just orta when the facts are there clear as day is honestly beyond me.

3.) 21 Jan 2021 07:07:01
Alf, Bermo, et all

Before this thread goes too much further can I ask who are the players we have wasted money on?

Bought Casilla, definitely didn't perform any worse than the surrounding players at the time he was playing. Couple of howlers but so did most of those Championship players. Even now, performing the task of keeping a brilliant young keeper on his toes and focussed.

Invested in White, helped win us a Championship

Invested in Harrison, helped win us a Championship and improving year on year.

Invested in and then bought Costa, hot and cold but certainly brings ability to the squad and helped win us a Championship

Bought Bamford

Bought Meslier

Bought Raphina

Bought German international Koch

Bought Spanish international Llorente

Bought Spanish international Rodrigo

Bought Poveda, £1m and he is already nutmegging players in the Premiership

Where are these crap purchases?

4.) 21 Jan 2021 08:07:57
Sorry Axe i get your point but disagree with your Casilla part. He has shown nothing to me to demonstrate that he has been a good buy, I was like many very excited when he arrived, ex Real Madrid coming to Leeds, things were looking up. But that was my moment of happiness and is disapated very quickly, when he played it was like looking at a Porschethinking nice and then starting it up to find the engine of a trabant. I am nervous every time he is between the sticks, he has done nothing for me to want him in a Leeds shirt, too many mistakes and does not fill me with any confidence.

5.) 21 Jan 2021 09:39:33
Bielsa’s involvement in transfers is purely to say yes, or no. None of the transfers since Bielsa came have been duff. Orta is Leeds. Love the guy, love his passion. Radz is the Messiah, Bielsa is God. Here endeth the lesson.

6.) 21 Jan 2021 09:42:28
Ok dougie, one bad buy but axe point is still correct.

7.) 21 Jan 2021 10:31:44
I agree love Orta and I don’t think we have made any bad buys think we have brought really well hence my immense frustration at the Brighton game and people on here putting bad performances down to having championship players . I think that opinion is crap and just a get out for belisa

100% behind our transfer strategy.

I'm fairly sure given Orta's wage, resources and time (i. e that is his job) I couldn't do much worse.

Think about the disasters with Casilla, JKA and Costa to name but 3. Millions spent and wasted in fees and wages.

If you compare our success and spend with other teams on less resources such as Brentford, Peterborough and Southampton we are really found wanting.

CM doesn't necessarily have to add goals directly for me, being able to control the midfield more effectively will allow others to score and make chances whereas we are overrun too frequently in there at the moment for me.
