Not Leeds related, but do Fair Play Rules not apply to all FIFA countries? I'm guessing not, but that's only a guess, as I see Thomas Partey being offered 200 million tax free for 2 years in Saudi Arabia. The money in EPL is already ripping the soul out of football, but even that is chicken feed in comparison. If anyone knows would be appreciated. Cheers.

The same footballers who kneel before games and preach about lgbt rights will be getting paid by a country who cares for non of that - so no they don’t abide by fifa fair play at all.

Bottom line is that FFP rules are not FIFA regulations but rather UEFA’s, so they do not apply to clubs which come under the auspices of the 5 other continental governing bodies. Likewise, when FFP is replaced by the new salary cap and ‘luxury tax’ regs, they will only apply to clubs governed by UEFA.

Thanks Clue, I suspected it was something along those lines, appreciate your clarification. This whole Saudi thing just stinks, can't blame the players (although on a moral ground its not good) but this could seriously disrupt the landscape of football as we know it.

I wouldn’t be so very concerned about it Wbti. Yes, it currently appears the Saudis have been able to buy world golf - but that sport is frankly tiny in comparison to football. The Saudi state may be able to finance Newcastle and all the clubs in the Saudi league, and may be able to afford to bankroll a few more European clubs if they choose to, but there’s a lot of other business and other vested interests that should be able to resist any attempts to seriously disrupt the footballing landscape.
