I'm aware I say some pretty stupid things:
1. I congratulated Fergie on his career when he retired - though I did so with some bitterness.
2. I said I would like to see Grayson back with money and a defensive coach - which actually went down rather well.
3. I spoke in favour of a "should Becchio come back?" post.
4. I was a vocal critic of Beckford's selfish playing style.
etc.

I think however I will beat them all when I say Aidy White should be our first choice left back next season, at least for the early stages.

Hear me out. There is something of a debate as to whether White will ever be good enough enough to be a Leeds player. Some say his pace is an asset while others say he has no end product and can't read a game. My reasons for supporting him in the coming campaign are thus:
1. Next season (by MC's own words) is for building and preparing for the following one.
2. A player cannot learn to read a game if he is not playing regularly.
3. White is not past the age to make a drastic improvement.
4. Being made first choice will boost his confidence and a simple ego boost can often be a catalyst for players to go on to great things.
5. Big things were expected of him once upon a time

By using this season's "building for the future" mentality and playing Aidy we will know one way or another if he is good enough and end the debate. Either he will improve with game time and begin to deserve the spot or he fails and loses it 10 to 20 games into the season. If things don't work out, then we'll know how to end the debate.

Angry replies are welcome, but this post is sincere - plus I know we have Warnock but he's getting on a bit now and Taylor is another option but this is how I would end the Aidy White debate.

Couldn't we just give Charlie Taylor a go aidy white has had plenty. Of chances i

I think Taylor will be thrown in from the start next season. He's played 40 games this season for Fleetwood and will most probably play at Wembley so he will have had plenty of game time. Whilst I kind of agree with what you say and you put up a good reason for, I reckon Taylor will be the preferred option and maybe another gem

Sorry Mr Happy but I simply cannot agree with you here. From when he has played his defensive work is just not good enough I'm afraid. Some say play him as a winger, all he has is pace, no end product. Maybe give him a chance in pre-season to prove himself- if he is still around. Warnock is good enough for this level and Taylor is thought to be held in high regard. I just can't see white being able to challenge for a first team spot this season. As for a building season, if we go in with that mentality Ross will soon want to leave I'm sure. We have to go for Promotion and if we fail at lest we will hopefully have a good platform to go again next year.

I reckon you guys are spot and Taylor will be thrown in this coming season much like Byram was, also think Mowatt will start a lot and Poleon will get a chance to show what he can do. Always believed that young players thrive on confidence which will come from regular fist team action.these lads needs to step it up though and show this "potential" we're told they have. mixed with some quality experienced players (from what we have like Ross, Pearce etc) and some good, shrewd signings and we could have a really exciting team which may be erratic at first but that we need to back and that will make us proud.

Realistically next season could/will be up and down and we need to manage our own expectations. mid-table or near playoffs should be the aim with the aim of 15/16 season to really go for promotion. Cellino has his work cut out sorting the financial mess GFH and Bates have left us in. I don't envy him BUT for once, we have someone who seems to be honest about the situation being very bad but that he is actually going to do his all to sort it.patience is key guys, 1ore year of it and we could be sound financially finally with an exciting future. MOT

{Ed003's Note - Watched him several times(taylor) this year not sure he's ready for the championship just yet (just my opinion) but then again if he's not given the chance you never know I suppose,anyway I wish him well on monday.}

A lot of good, well thought out responses and I agree that Taylor (right now) seems like the better choice. It saddens me however to see a player who had so much promise cast aside. I maintain his pace could still be an asset if he is given the opportunity to learn on the pitch. We'll see after pre-season I suppose.

Isnt it nice to actually be talking about youth and there development. i'm fed up of all the negativity and "questions" about Cellino, I think there are pros and cons to him, but one thing I've enjoyed so far is the pretty much guaranteed use of youth players.

Everyone having this debate is refreshing, and instead of worryin about buying players, were talking about the use of youth!

I for one am enjoying it.
