Stupid question probably but is there a deadline for submitting the retain release list.Every other team seems to have done theirs

vinfraz

1.) Heard it has to be in to the F-league by next Monday 29th ;(

2.) Never mind just found the answer saturday deadline apparently.Should be interesting

Just a thought, now we are getting towards who to keep and who to release.Whats the verdict on aidy white?Personally I think if used as a left back he's ok.Sadly he's been in every position but that. Also can tom lees be salvaged or is he beyond help, jason pearce had a good season, after many including me wrote him off

vinfraz

1.) Let's start with Aidy White. At 22 it could be argued he has time to develop however at this age he should be demonstrating enough quality to be challenging for particular spot in the team i.e. left back. The issue with Aidy is that he is seen as a utility player which makes him Jack of all trades and master of none. He certainly is not a wide midfielder/winger as he does not understand how to use his pace and invaribly dribbles into cul-de-sacs, also when he loses the ball there is little or no effort to win it back. Left back is probably his better spot however he consistently gets overlooked by managers perhaps because his positional sense is pretty poor but this can be attributed to not learning a particular position well (Jack of all trades). As for Tom Lees, he has all the attributes to be a top centre back however he has absolutely no self confidence to the extent that he is so frightened to make a challenge that could lead to a mistake that he will back away and make it easy for the attacker to bypass him (or he will get tangled up in his own feet and fall over). My concern with Lees is that he has worked with 3 different managers since he has been in the 1st team and has shown absolutely no improvement in his game, in fact I would argue that he has got worse. The quality of coaching that he has received could be a factor in his demise however the common demoninator is that Tom Lees is not good enough to be our centre back if we have designs on being a promotion challenging team in the next two seasons. Both Lees and White get away with limited criticism from our fans because they are academy graduates however if Brian had purchased either of these two there would be heavy criticism that he has wasted his transfer budget

2.) Wouldn't lose sleep if they both left this summer.

3.) I'd keep them both as back ups and make sure Aidy was used as a left back otherwise he'll never progress! Lees has one major issue, concentration! He let's players slip away from him because he isn't concentrating on them and starts watching the ball! Also has become increasingly nervous with his distribution, when he first came into the team he played the ball around well enough now it's just hoof-ball tactics.

4.) I agree that both players should be retained but only as back up.Lee's has lost the composure and seems lacking in any confidence he had when he first broke into the first team, he treats the ball like a "hot potato", hoofing it forward more in hope than anything else.As for white, he has pace to burn but rarely use's it to the benefit of the team(seems to find a dead end all too often)he reminds me of a young arraron lennon but the latters composure and end product improved and still is improving, perhaps because he knows where he's going too play week in week out.

5.) Personally when White came on this weekend felt he made a real difference. Far better than stewart or kebe, this he has potential in the winger role. Our defence in general has had a bad year, need a good experienced head in there, would personally use lees as back up, Byram RB, Pearce CB, (Insert signing here) CB, Warnock LB. Is that CB role for Mills this year?

6.) Have to disagree MarkD14, although I felt that White ran well with the ball he constantly ran into cul-de-sacs and did not produce one telling cross. This is the mystique with White, with all the endeavour he gives there is never an end product then fans trott out the line "at least he is better than Kebe and Stewart" but the fact is all three of them are crap

7.) Personally I think white is a left back but as we seem to want to use wing backs.

8.) Good post NottsWhite. Couldn't agree more. I'd still retain Lees and White. It's just they must know their place for next season which ought to be to challenge for a place on the sub bench. You need to write about Austin next.

Surely bates leaving means he is about to buy into another struggling club and flip them. don't think you can be involved in two clubs at once. Wonder which unlucky sods will have the pleasure of him as chairman next

vinfraz

1.) I heard he was considering charlton or Portsmouth

2.) Who cares what Bates is going to do, he is now (thankfully) history.

Surely mills can't be the player who excites Brian?Good player though he probably is, I was expecting flair player or goalscorer personally, perhaps that's a different player

vinfraz

1.) Well I for one am excited that we potentially get a multi million pound player to help us keep clean sheets. I remember on these same postings a few years ago when Leicster paid all that money for him, people were whinging that we couldn't get him because Bates wouldn't fund a deal. BMD
will give him back his Mojo, after all he plucked him out of nowhere from Doncaster for a steal and turned him into a multi million pound defender.
Trust the Gaffer he knows what he is doing.

finally beckford has signed for Bolton perhaps we can move on now, without people keeping wondering when he's coming back

vinfraz

1.) Janurary.

2.) League 1 player at best he will flop with bolton like he did with leicester

3.) McD missed out on 1 of his marque signings, just gradel to go at now. FACT!

4.) We couldn't agree a loan deal with Leicester, so Jermaine signed for Bolton to enable Leeds to loan him from them. ! Give it a month - at most!

5.) Beckford doesn't fit brians game plan, young and hungry. Not way past his best, lazy and greedy. couldn't be more grateful for what he did for leeds in the past, but time to move on

Yeah Clarke is pretty much the only logical candidate who might come.No way pulis would come.Clarke has spent the majority of his time coaching as you say so we might have a shot.Just hoping it's not a serie b standard Italian

Personally think that he was coach long enough to get in the players cellino wanted. Now transfer window is just about to shut cellino can bring in someone else, no time for new coach to have any input at all.No decent coach would want little or no input on transfers coming in, it's win win for cellino.

He's in last year of contract, doubt he would be mega expensive.According to Sunderland fans he is after more money than they are paying him.So that's us screwed then

Agree with wage cap, greedy agents etc, but don't say a deal is done until signature is on the contract.Happened with vivani same story.I understand not paying over the odds but why say it's 100 percent done when it isn't.
