a centre half converted to striker for a desperate club in L1, who wanted to play hoofball but lacked the target man. I'm hoping Smith is going to be Tom Lees' partner for next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Are u talking about Matt Smith? The lad must have had the best scoring record ever for a centre half in non league he scored 30 goals in 37 games. He joined Oldham as a striker. when they got a new manager and he started games at the end off the season he scored goals. Leeds were not the only championship team after him. His manager said in march several teams in championship after him. I can't see how they would all be wrong, if the lad cost 1 million people would tipping him to score 20 goals and there would be no problem

I don't understand some fans. What's the point of saying you SUPPORT leeds when all that you do is very UNSUPPORTIVE. We must be the least optimistic team in the flipping world. Why can't you people just be cool and try and accept things. Some people on here must be depressed like hell.

What do you lads think the striker partnerships will be next season if no other striker leaves or comes in because I just can't think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Morison & McCormack would start with Smith & Poleon likely to be the impact off the bench

Welsh Leeds fan, and I will be 110% behind England today cause of Tom Lees

TsG

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I do back McDermott all the way on youth recruitment however all of the other players brian brought from lower league clubs were proven in that league and scored for fun. However smith hasn't really done too well in league one so how can he be good enough for the championship. H may well be a late starter in football but he played 40 games last season and scoring 11 goals. At first I thought he ripped up the league towards the end scoring all his goals after developing but he's been inconsistent on the goal scoring front. He may well turn out to be a great player but I don't understand this signing

Agree0 Disagree0

I may be mistaken but I think he played nearly half of those games as a centre back. don't hold me to that but I think i'm right. Nevertheless. I think it would be better to give him a chance at this club, to prove he is worth the risk before beating him before he starts I believe he has potential.

THink we need to pull together as fans and just give 100% support this season as bickering and slating doesn't help anyone

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not slating I'm just stating my opinion, I don't understand the reasoning behind this signing. He wasnt doing too great in league one. He probably does have potential but 11 goals in 40 apps isn't great. There's no getting away from that

Agree0 Disagree0

But 11 goals in 40 games where you play 20 at centre back. that's works out at 11 in 20 I reckon. And I would take that all day long.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah and what more did you expect he played as a defender at oldham forget what his stats say a striker playing cb think about it

Agree0 Disagree0

You don't really have to understand the signing, but trust the new manager to do his job! He clearly believes that he has potential and is worth bringing in. Why would he want to bring someone in that he did not believe had the hunger to play well and develop!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wasn't he used as a sub most of the time? Maybe that is why the strike rate is so low

Agree0 Disagree0

If he played as a defender half the time that means he scored 11 in 20 games up front which is obviously very good. So I can now see now he should be prolific. He must have a lot to give if he's switching positions and still banging in goals, if he's consistently up front then he should be even more prolific then

Agree0 Disagree0

My point exactly

Not a rumour. This is a fact. We all meed to remember that big name players were once completely unknown to anyone until they were signed by a bigger club. How many people knew gonzalo higuain before real madrid signed him. Ronaldo before man utd. Going further down to brian mc signing kitson from Cambridge I think it was. Nobody knew them then they were signed and did well. My point is this. Who ever we sign, if they are young and hungry could develop into superstars for the future. Look at sam byram, did you say to yourself last preseason that he would clean up awards and have us all worrying about him leaving. We need to support these young signings and help them become better players and turning on them before they have evan tried the kit on is wrong. Rant over

I dunno about everyone else, even though he's only 1 signing in and majority of this summer is words. But since he took over I've been really impressed with McDermott. Happy that he has the sense to get young talented players from the lower league. Rather than players who are passed it

Who agrees that Leeds should have ago for Dundee United's Mackay-Stevens. He is a quality winger with pace and skill, search him up on YouTube

I said the same on here a few weeks ago he would certsinly pull in the crowds with his box of tricks. brilliant player and an entertainrr

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be a brilliant signing but I think they'd want at least double what they wanted for Russell!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes 100% agree we need a bit of quality in the creative department please GFH spend some money and show ambition! MOT

Mackay Steven and byram on each side of midfield and danny Simpson or lighai in rb would be brilliant

what I like about the leeds frontmen at the moment is that all four of them are different.

Mccormack, technically class,
Smith- hold up power, strength in air etc
Morison (pls give him a chance when fit) poacher
poleon ( pacy young forward)

That gives B McD Plan A, B, C and D when it comes to strikers can only be a good thing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah we have a good variety now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Havn't you forgotten Varney

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jun 2013 07:51:51
Morison - a poacher? I presume you are talking about his culinary skills because he's not shown himself to be a poacher on a football field. Clarke, Lineker, Owen were proper soccer poachers not Morison. He can't be mentioned in the same context.

What does Aidy White need to work on this summer? {Ed013's Note - How to be a footballer! Seriously though, his positioning, passing and tackling are a must}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it's clear that White is as player that needs a regular role in the same position, he can't slot in & out in a variety of positions managers use of White as a back up utility player has really damaged his development.

I'll be surprised to see BMD use white as a utility player.

Ed you make me laugh! It was only yesterday you told me you didn't slag our players? {Ed013's Note - Its called Banter!}

Agree0 Disagree0

So he's just quick then.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he's could be a good player who causes loads of defences problems with he's pace but he just needs to learn some things and we could have a good player on our hands

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with ed013 got pace but that is it, can't tackle with no postioning so defence is out, and no skill or finishing so attcking is out, that said when he came on against hudersfeild was our best player and did make a difference but is that more because the other players where S**T rather than whites class?

Agree0 Disagree0

How to be a footballer is a good shout to be fair, he doesn't have a footballing brain at all

Agree0 Disagree0

He can do some things right: "Aidan White picked up the ball thirty yards from goal before jinking expertly beyond two challenges and firing a left-foot shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the penalty area. Amazingly, for a player who has been in the Leeds first team squad for some time, this was White’s first competitive goal. "

I won't be forgetting that so quickly. so he has got something to offer, and he's only 21, from Yorkshire, and got a great last night!

Agree0 Disagree0

Crossing and ball control. he'll never make it as a left back, but has the pace to be a winger.

Am I the only one who is astounded at the negativity at our potential signings? What do people expect? Messi and Iniesta!

End of the day BMC knows what he is doing and needs to be supported in doing what he needs to

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree if we are getting McD's first choice. I don't think we got Warnocks first choice and not sure we will get McD's. If Mills was first choice then in the gaffer I trust but I fear he may want, Le fonrdre Sharp etc. and have settled for Mills. we have all played champ manager impossible with out backing of the board

Whilst I disagree with the negativity towards Smith on this site, I do admit that I'm slightly underwhelmed! However I'll wait to judge him in the white shirt before commenting properly! I think most fans are hoping for a proper marquee signing, someone we sit back and go, Jesus, we signed him? Personally, I'd like Graham Dorrans. I know he'd cost a lot but it's one signing I'd be over the moon with!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So now that we've signed Matt Smith, that means that we have 3 of the 4 squad striker roles filled (with Varney & Diouf also able to play there). So the question to you all is, who do you want as the 4th striker? For me, I'd like Billy Sharp, we have two big strikers, now we need someone to compete with Ross.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

McCormack Morison poleon and smith makes 4 to me

Agree0 Disagree0

Do people anticipate Poleon having a big role next season? Or do you think he'll be loaned out?

I find the negativity of some Leeds fans somewhat dumbfounding.

Matt Smith, barely 5 minutes into his Leeds United career and already some prats decide he isn't good enough, when infact its these people (so called fans) that aren't good enough to be Leeds fans themselves, so off you hop on to the nearest train and go find yourselves another club to be negative towards, you morons.

I can see this being a continual problem this transfer window, no one will ever be good enough for the club according to some fans (if you can call them that).

Whilst I am in no place to start judging whether Smith is or isn't good enough for this division I feel we should at least give the lad a chance, and that goes for any other signings that come in this summer, whether seasoned pro's or young upcoming talent.

MOT SussexLeeds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said! Have faith in McD and support his signings -his record of finding good prospects for very little is second to non.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldnt agree with you any more pal. I end up avoiding Twotter and others because some people are so fickle to judge someone they don't know. Players step-up when they get the confidence. Fact is no one knows what he can do but we can't put him under pressure before he starts

Its ridicoulus that everyone is judging him all the players come from lower teams at some point in there career. look at beckford who played in a conference team I think it was and he turned out to be a decent player when he played for us. Also look at player like rickie lambert and billy sharp

Totally agree, did anyone know what snodgrass and bechio were like before they played for leeds, give the lad a chance to shine, could be a very good signing.

Cant understand all the people that are saying there loosing patience and ghf have disapointed!
The transfer window hasn't opened yet, we have agreed a deal for a young hungry player
With more on the way. They have got us a good manager, they have brought in half season tickets and restructured membership. Thorp arch is being upgraded and we are under no pressure to sell players
All positive stuff so far for me no broken promises!
give it until at least mid july to start this sh!t?. Please!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said mate, I totally agree with evry word.
Some people would only be happy with us signing 200k a week mercanaries and even then they would find something to moan about.

Another player worth a look at. According to the web Watford looked at him and would cost about £500k.

Name: Jakub Kosecki (22)
Club: Legia Warsawa
Position: Left wing/ can also play on the right

This guy is very fast on the ball and is very good on both feet so he can swap between the wings depending on the circumstance and has a good work rate. I think this would be a good buy for McD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unless u watch polish and russian league football i'm presuming uve signed these players on a game, there not always as good in real life yah know

Legia finished top of their league and therefore qualify for champions league, so unless they want rid of him I think it would take a hell of a lot to prize him away.

Pleased with smith signing, great potential and not a 30 plus has been, excited for the next one! A typical bmac signing

I am happy that we have signed smith, he will be a real physical handfull for defenders leaving room for the other striker (at least). Will put everything into the game for us, good signing let's get behind him. Sharky

Ok so Matt smith shocked a lot of us this morning but this guy never had a decent chance for Oldham only has a sub I think he will be good he is tall strong and good in the air and hopefully can cause defence hell
Think of Carroll crouch we have the same but cheaper and younger and will proof all the doubters wrong
Good luck Matt smith
