If we get playing remaining games, there must be a chance of not getting through them all with the ensuing issues. Why not play one match, get the Villa game in hand over, then its equal arrows. Bottom 3 down top 3 up. Just another thought! Wont happen though.

Because that gives Villa an unfair advantage. Theyd be playing a one off game to avoid promotion against a side that doesn't care or want to be playing.
Villa deserve to go down (and then get immediately punished by EFL for breaking FFP rules last year) based on performances so far.
Play all of the remaining games.

Good point Canada, With you regarding Villa. Yes games must be completed and next season delayed if necessary.

Probably right Aus, common sense will not prevail and a right mess will ensue.

as fans we are of course baised and i think it rightly clouds our judgement. When watching a game I always try and think what I would want if it wasnt leeds (was it a red card, should it of been a pen etc) I know we all hate villa but if it was leeds I would hope we would get a chance to fight relegation and get out of it. a prem season is 38 games no less, anything else is just not on and not accpetable if football wants to keep any dignity. even if this season doesn't finish till 2029 it must finish in my opinion. people talk about dangers of restart this is fair enough but will also apply for a new season. the virus won't F'off just because it is a new season so let's wait till time is right and finish the season nothing else for me can be right can it?

Unusual circumstances cause unusual measures and happenings.
It wasn’t right so many died and lost their jobs or businesses but they did.
Football no diff. The season dosent have to finish and won’t.
Ppg the answer. Unfortunate for villa but they had enough time to shine.

Aus but there is one fundermental flaw to your argument. we have time. why does the season have to finish? why not wait until we can move forward and finish what is started. surely the 20/ 21 season can not start until the 19/ 20 season finishes properly. even if that means 20/ 21 season is missed and we jump to 21/ 22. They say the virus might come back in the winter anyway messing everything up so rather than cutting two season short why not just miss one?

As a socieity we might have to learn to live and move on as normal with the virus and just accpept people will die like with Cancer or flu but until this happens and we stop the world as we have we have to be prepared to put the world on hold. not just skip to the next part that suits us best.

Excellent points BW
Aus has continually avoided this point and how abd when he would start a new ( full ) season

Also. have the Dutch and French leagues really thought this through . cancelling leagues when under their strict health regulations there is every chance that

1) any new league season will not start in France nor Holland in. September, October or possibly not even. this year

2) so will the Dutch precedent of null and voiding an uncompleted full season lead to it having to legally null. and void future incomplete seasons too

UEFA too are much to blame for this fiasco.

Just thinking what will you do in two weeks time if the s/ deaths are at the same rate. Do you proceed?
What do you do when the first few players test positive? Cancel? Surely you might as well have a lottery for promotion/ relegation as play farcical games with no strong tackling, no crowds, no atmosphere everyone wearing face masks?
What happens if one participating team reports 3 or 4 first teamers' positive? Heaven forbid they end up in intensive care on Vents. Who gets sued?
What do you do if your star striker refuses to play? fine him, ban him, accept it?
What happens in the first aerial duel when a face mask is dislodged. Stop the game, dropped ball?
Yes in an ideal world promotion/ relegation should be decided on purely footballing merit however these are not ideal times and as I have said previously that whilst every Plan has its drawbacks I see far too many in the "play on" scenario.

Good post Leodis.
There is no way everyone will be happy no matter what the decision. Even bowyer saying Charlton only in drop zone for 6 days so shouldn’t be demoted.
There will be law suits whichever decision is made.
Even if season canceled then Liverpool leeds and west Brom and prob Fulham and all the teams in European places will sue.
Just get on with it. Whatever the decision. Make it now.
No way will another ball be kicked. England still riddled with it.
Make a decision and face the music.

Aussie, Exactley what I (and many others) now think.
It's like being delayed at an airport the REALLY annoying part is not the delay its the not knowing.

Test all players on match day

only those who are negative can play

no need for face masks.

what if the virus is the new normal? what if it never goes away? do we never re-start football or just take it on board as a life risk like cancer, heart attacks and car accidents?

until we know more about the virus it is impossible to second guess it.

Only the sick wear face masks so the healthy are safe and can play football. That’s just the polite thing to do.
