Apparently we cant/wont sign Martin due to us having tight wage structure. Which makes me think we won't sign anyone proven or at peak.

We have to be smart. We have to realise that we spent 3 on roofe and he is good for 10-15 a season. To get 15-20+ we will need to spend $5-$10 mill. We got shtloads for taylor and wood and i'm hoping orta hasn't spent the lot. We will need to spend $15 mill this window to get up. Spent wisely it will come back 1000 fold. Wisely. No foreign rubbish.

Hi Creeky. I have just read another site saying that we are in the late stages of completing negotiations for his services and that Leeds fans are delighted. I was like to listen to these Leeds fans, as i cannot understand why we would want anyone that Derby would agree to send us and his recent scoring record looks pants. I would go for that Marriott chappy.

If we were to break, or stretch our wage structure, I would hope it would be for better than Chris Martin. no point doing it for him, in my view.

Cynical but i'm being told martin, and rodwell are the latest two

Rodwell would need to agree to a large wage cut before we could sign him.

{Ed001's Note - he is the one player at Sunderland that had no relegation wage cut clause in his contract and he is still stealing 60k a week from them for sitting on the treatment table.}

Relax, all the posters on here that said there is always one team that comes from nowhere into the play offs and thought it could be us! Its not. Its fulham! Think we will be the team that flirts with top 6 the entire season and then misses out in last week. Wait. Wasnt that last season? As my previous post two days ago. Nothing changes! Fed up and bored of it. Hate losing. Hate under achieving. We just seem time and time again to get owners with the right intentions but not the knowledge needed to come good on them.

Frustrates the life out of me Aus, we have been in similar positions to this before, notably the decent team Grayson had, last season also, with 2/3 quality signings we could really give it a good go, we have bought way too much quantity over quality, I have spent a fortune travelling to and from All the home and away games, and I will carry on doing it, I would however like us to show some ambition over the next fortnight and at least try to get the players to take us into the top 6.it's 15-16 months since we knew Taylor was going and we only just got a left back, let's hope it's not 15-16 months till we replace wood!

Only my opinion but I really hope we don't get Chris Martin, 4th choice striker at Derby, no pace, is this really what we think the answer is, there's got to be better out there, why are we not spending 5-6 mil on a striker when we have sold one for 15 mil? . we can't replace that with loan players, Derby wouldn't let him go if he still 'had it'. they are In the play offs pushing for 2nd, even if they thought he still had something to offer from the bench they would surely keep him. like I say, just my opinion, sure there's plenty that would like him here.

I see we are looking at 17 year old boy wonder Kean, currently playing as a striker for Verona. With a strike rate of.1 in 7? Unless they know something, it doesn't seem to be the immediate answer to our striking problem.

Leeds have allegedly made an approach for Moise Kean if Juve. 17 year old who is out on loan, highly rated youngster who has scored 1 in 4 for Juve and 2 in 15 for Hellas Verona. Has played at senior level so could potentially play in our first team.

Hi Alf. He does sound good, but I continue to worry that we seem to be forgetting to buy a few players who have passed through puberty. If he is for first team - superb, but if he is another purchase for the future, I will despair.

Nahki Wells on loan, Jake Marriott and a Keeper = Promotion!

Not sure if this has already been reported on here - apologies if so - but we have also signed another one for the development squad - Polish keeper Kamil Miazek. He has been on trial with the U23's and is 21.

I know for a fact that I'm going to get shot down by many here for this post, but this is my perspective on what is quite clearly the strategy of the owner and his team. Promotion was never the goal this season; I accept the urgency many have attached to promotion, but it was never the case for the board.

They are building the base, and building for the future, which in my mind, in these days of FFP, is shrewd. Our style of football this year, has been worth watching, not the "sideways, sideways, back to keeper" dross, or "go long" carp we've had over too many seasons. The infrastructure of our great club has been addressed, and corrected, and everything can't happen over night.

As Leeds fans, we are not the most patient, but the right steps have been taken, and we are moving forward the first time in over a decade. Have a little more patience, and we will all be where we want to be. MOT.

Which of our 20 odd building for the future players we have boyght will be prem league class next year when the 8-9 bought in this year are 99% league 1 standard?

Agree2 5Disagree

12 Jan 2018 12:52:43
Bright Promotion is the goal but like Cellino we may have another water into wine merchant in Radz. The development squad needed addressing but that has received too much focus recently. We need 3 or 4 good old-fashioned British Isles pros.

Agree7 0Disagree

12 Jan 2018 13:25:45
Promotion this year must be our aim but interwoven with this, the need for a long term strategy. Hopefully the players bought recently are being nurtured and assesed out of the spotlight and, if we don't go up this year, are the basis of a proper go next season. So far I am with Radz and will not unfurl my "out" banners just yet. In fact I am quietly optimistic of a tilt this year but am already eager for next season to start.

Agree4 0Disagree

12 Jan 2018 14:14:27
Radz never said that was our aim for this year, he just said we would be looking at bettering last year and that could be interpreted many ways. I would guess from what is happening that we are more interested in building for the future than promotion immediately. If we develop our own talent in 2-3 years we could have a great team that didn't cost the earth and they will likely be able to continue developing into the Prem when we get promoted. wouldn't be surprised if the actual aim was 2-3 years for promotion rather than this season.

Agree2 0Disagree

12 Jan 2018 14:39:37
I kind of agree with you Brightwhite. My mate and I had this conversation after the Forest game. Radz is doing all the right things off the field and if it did take a season or two to go up, we would be ready commercially for the Premier League. I do despair with our football sometimes. We can look great one game and average the next, but that's football. As Ausman states we do have a lot of players who aren't Premier league standard. What worries me there is a lot of them are on 4 year deals. We have a new left back, which was a priority. I do think we are a good striker away from staying in the top 6, so fingers crossed

Agree1 0Disagree

12 Jan 2018 14:58:40
Exactly the point I was trying to make Alf. Of course promotion this year would be a bonus, but the investment made by Radz to date, has not been aimed at delivering that goal. Everything has been targeted at creating financial stability for the club as a business, and developing a team for the future, whilst remaining competitive on the pitch to remain in or around the play offs.

I agree this squad will need additions to be able to cope on the PL but let's be honest, how many of Huddersfield's squad would you have named as being able to cope in the PL but they aren't doing that bad at the mo. You never know who may surprise us!

13 Jan 2018 11:46:29
Great post bright and good contribution Alf. For the first time in years I'm feeling very optimistic about the future. Radz seems have his head screwed on and knows what he's doing off the field. Yes there are some issues on the field and yes they might have rolled the dice on a few of the players that have been brought in but that to me is the nature of the beast, at least they're giving it a good go and building well for the future! In 3 years if we're holding our own in the PL it will have been worth not going up this year/having the perfect squad right now.
