So MC has stated that he is not going to use the money from the sale of Ross to bolster the tranfer kitty. He is planning to use the money to purchase Elland Road. That's a Ken Bates move!
All that means is that he has used the sale of our best player to fund the transfer of a major asset (the Stadium) into the ownership of Massimo Cellino - not into the ownership of Leeds Utd. There is a subtle but very important difference.
Not saying this will happen but, in theory MC could sell LUFC at some point in the future but retain ownership of the stadium, thus placing LUFC back in the situation of not owning the ground (unlikely, but possible).
The McCormack money should have ben invested in the first team squad 100%.

Nowhere does it say that MC will purchase ER and put it into his name. True it doesn't say he will put it in LUFC name either but your just yet another doom merchant.

I can't see the problem with this at all. We need to own our own ground if we want to get back to being in a position of promotion and to be successful. Ken wouldn't of used Ross money to buy ground. it would of been in an off shore account in his name a long time ago.

If we get this lad from AC Milan on loan you never know he could bag 20+ goals this season so would technically replace Ross (plus I think Matt Smith will improve on last year with goals scored)

If we get 2 strikers who bag 20 plus each why do we need a big name striker in??

Christ, give it a rest, sick of all the doom and gloom.

He has already put more into the club than the ground will cost him. paying off debts etc.

So when he has bought the ground back and hopefully bought out GFH etc, YOU believe that he will act in a totally different manner than virtually every other club in the league.

If the guys that own Man U sell the club do you think that they will retain old trafford and charge a rent. Would the owners of Liverpool, Arsenal, tottenham?

Would that russian down at Chelski?

Of course not, really I despair.

By buying Elland road he saves about £2 million a year in rent, I think this is a good thing and shows that he is not a stupid man.

Of course there is the added bonus for him that owning the ground makes LUFC a more attractive prospect. If (and I mean if) he decides sometime in the future to sell. And that could get him some of his money back.

I wish some folks on here would not always see something evil in everything that happens. He has done more for our club in the last few months than the previous 4 owners did

Give the guy a chance.

Where has MC stated he is buying the stadium personally? I believe he will cause the stadium to be owned by the company.

5.) 14 Jul 2014
You are just being completely negative and have no knowledge of basic company law. The proceeds belong to Lufc from Ross' sale. If these are then used to buy ER then the ground again belongs to Lufc, not to MC personally.

He has already stated that money is available for transfers, has he not? So this money from RM will help buy back the stadium. He says he will buy it back, people moan, if he didn't buy it back, people would moan. At least he is being proactive and investing in the team, buying the stadium and paying off debts. Give the bloke a chance

Would have thought the buy back clause relates to the club. To stop just anybody buying it. As for the 11m I don't think mc is sticking to a certain budget. Apart from wages. What we got 3 weeks to go I'd expect more signings.

8.) 14 Jul 2014
No I don't think Bate's would or ever did really say anything when selling on players .
M C paid players wages b4 owning the club paid Mr Flowers loan paid tax bill then paid Haigh , sorry but this is not someone stripping the club like Bates!
Yes he has made changes cut staff, but he knows if you put the money where it is needed first, then have extras when you can afford them .

9.) 14 Jul 2014
Yes there is a lot of doom and gloom merchants but there's also a lot of happy clappers that have developed around ER in recent seasons and there's quite a few on here, give me the ER of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, no one fears ER anymore it's just another nice friendly away ground, the kop is like Henman hill at least the SS are trying to keep up some atmosphere. We all turn up wanting our team to win whether your passionate or a happy clapper.
Leeds United Forever.

Take a look at Coventry!

They like Leeds sold their stadium when in financial trouble and then like Leeds rented it back at ever increasing rates. Now they can't afford these rates, they have to ground share with Northampton Town

The stadium will be an asset to MC or LUFC but it will also save the club millions in rent over the coming years

11.) 14 Jul 2014
Great move let's get rid of paying huge amount of cash to rent the ground when money saved can go on players so the 1st post stop talking rubbish

12.) 14 Jul 2014
Or he could say that he has 11m to spend.

13.) 15 Jul 2014
"All that means is that he has used the sale of our best player to fund the transfer of a major asset (the Stadium) into the ownership of Massimo Cellino - not into the ownership of Leeds Utd. There is a subtle but very important difference."

So what's he going to do with it, knock it down and build a housing estate? It's HIS club, and even if he put it in the name of Leeds United it would therefore STILL belong to HIM!

Go and moan about something else.

14.) 15 Jul 2014
How would the money from Ross's sale (LUFC asset) be used to personally fund the purchase of the stadium? he would have to use his own money for it to be his property, seems to be a hole in your theory.

15.) 15 Jul 2014
Damn you Cellino, for buying our club, clearning it's debt, getting above the odds for our captain and striker, letting all the deadwood go, planning to get us back into the Premiership, reducing our overheads, bringing in new promising talent, giving a load of our youth players their first contracts, working our players hard, instilling togetherness and a team spirit at our club, threatening to buy back our stadium.

Yes.

Damn you to hell.

16.) 15 Jul 2014
Hope he does buy Elland Road back he does have a transfer kitty which didn't include Ross we need to get the clubs foundations right then build up were getting there but do not need to spend stupidly for once leeds are making football headlines for the right things trut the bloke. Also the South Stand is now better than the kop better atmosphere never thought I would say that.
