I hope the article in today's YEP regarding the club being in contract talks with some of our young players is not true. Evans stated last week that he expected the likes of Cook and Mowatt to be at the club next year. With Bridcutt already indicating he will only join us next year if the club matches his ambitions, on saying he would love to re join Brighton I really hope we can hang on to these players as these are the future of our club.

I agree with you Shaggy - but one thing that really turns me off players is clubs being held as a hostage to fortune - in this case Bridcutt (only wants to stay if the club "matches his ambitions") and if not, he would "love to return to Brighton. " He's done us a pretty decent job, and taking into account the squad we have I'd prefer to keep him, but he is no Speedy/ GaryMac/ Batty/ Strachan, and if his heart is not in the club, well, he knows where the M1 is.

Cook is in the last year of his contract next year anyway so regardless of any clauses he can either get sold in the summer for a reasonable amount, in Jan for less or he will be off for nothing.

UNLESS we match his ambitions - we are a mile away from that at the moment so what should we do?

Know where you are coming from marktenjag but I agree with Birdcage on this. The time is between now and summer to show the ambition otherwise what's the point of us being called Leeds United anymore? We've been suffering in the wilderness for a dozen years now. Enough is enough. I think what Birdcage is saying is this - we are fortunate enough to have a decent midfield and we do but our defense is league 1 standard and so is our attack and in case of the attack that's somewhat of an undeserved compliment. Our attack is the poorest I've seen since I've supported Leeds. Birdcage is saying if you want the midfield to stay invest. If you don't then don't but he's off. At this stage of our plight you can't argue with that too much. Enough is enough. I hope MC invests because I fear for us and what the fans will do if he doesn't. We need a minimum 25m investment on new players.

25m is far too much to expect at this level, I think that would destablise the club and have us back in administartaion. I think we need to invest but think we need to be a little more realistic in our aims as a small poor club in recovery which is what leeds are.

Disagree with you on this. FPP rules are a consideration but I believe the mcbadgekisser money has been strategically deferred so we can rely on that to counter balance the investment needed without flagrantly breaching the rules. Bermo, you can't deny that 7 players are needed. At today's prices. The good midfield and Taylor leave soon if nothing big happens. Then what have you got? Nothing and then you need a whole new team costing a lot more but what division will we be in? Also, these PL relegated clubs are getting a lot more parachute money now and it's only getting worse. Time to gamble is now otherwise I see no return for us in our lifetime. Truth hurts sometimes.

i agree in theory and you even say it in your post. time to GAMBLE. 25 mill is great if we go up what if we don't then what? we have nothing left to sell. I would rather not invest and go down to league 1 than go for broke and no longer have a club to support. we do need 7 players to go up but not every team can go up and I am happy knowing at the moment we are not pushing for promotion. we are mid to low table. that is where we are and where we should be given out recent history. our last 12 year history we are doing well to be in championship so I will settle for that any day rather than expect more than what this club is capable of at the moment and where this club should be. we were league 1 not that long ago and we were nearly a car park not long before that. I would love to be prem but we aint. So I think our fans need to start thinking of leeds as a little poor broke team that is damaged and doing well to be where we are. every win is a bonus becuase we are doing well just to survive with the richer clubs. I love a gamble and will gamble anything apart from my daughters life and the club I support.

Bermo, no gamble now means and equals we are a feeder club for the top 10 PL clubs including Manyoo.

Can you live with that? I cannot.

i can live with that over the alturnative which is me in pub. I use to be leeds fan but since they went under I now follow leyton orient. I can live with being a feeder club as that is our rightful place at the moment. we are not a big or rich or good club. we are a team that has been in dire striaghts and lucky not to be a feeder club for teams in league one. we are lucky to be a club full stop. I would love for us to get back to glory years and back in prem but I don't think it is realistic. the landscape around this club changed 15 years ago and got worse 10 years ago. I don't see us back in the prem in the next ten years. I see us being what we deserve to be a middle of the road championship club. and to be honest I can live with that. I hope we don't go down to league 1 but if we do I can live with that also all I can live with is the constant fear that one day I will wake up and will read on news leeds go under and that was a real fear for a while. I do believe we will get back to prem but don't think it will in the next 5-10 years.
