Cook going for 6 million. Which is as much as you can wish for with a year left. (I. e byram) the question is, why leave our players contracts to run down a year. It is costing us a fortune in transfer fees.
Not rocket science just bad organisation.

Ready made excuse to sell, player won't sign new contract so I had no choice. Contract discussions should be made well in advance of final year, if player does not sign then you may still have to sell but can maximise value.

Mmmm could it be the fact that the players and agents won't have talks about a new contract?

Sure there will be a sell on clause as well. Schmeicals transfer will net us 1.7 mill if it goes through. Think 6 mill is about right really for such a young talent. No guarantee he will improve and it only takes for him to take a wrong turn. Mind you bournemouth is hardly a magnet for the jetsetters and nightlife. Could be a good move for him. Down side is I expect them to struggle next season so won't do his confidence any good.

No one can force them to sign and you can't give them what you haven't got, get what we can, while we can! I would use some of the money to see if we can give Charlie Taylor a better deal and retain him as well as bring in another (half the money already spent on Roofe) .

Because it's been a learning curve for Cellino. Now he's learned hence Roofe on a 4 year deal rather than 2. Unfortunately, his errors have cost us Cook, Byram and by end of next week I can see Taylor and Mowatt leaving. If we can attract players of similar ilk and stick them on 4 year contracts it was actually the right thing to do.
