Won't he just have to pay the tax, iff found guilty and it will be end of, or is it not as simple as that?

In answer to poster 3. No paying 400,000 or millions won't make any difference IF he is found guilty. Guilty is the key to fit and proper due to his past convictions. sorry, but it is all FL NEED TO SHAFT US. MOT
Agree1

If he gets found guilty(and that is still an if guys) then it ain't he leagues fault, the FL don't control the Italian courts to be fair.
I agree the FL have paid more attention to our take over than normal so we are not treated the same but I'm guessing they knew about the case coming up as nothing happens fast in Italy law so they waiting to see if guilty. If I was Massimo I would stall the date for some legal reason which would force the FL to say if hey are waiting for this court case or not. I hope he makes it for all our Leeds, fans sakes, if T/O doesn't happen it will be a sh** storm for us.

This isn't the fault of the FL. GFH have created this situation by doing business with a shady business man. Now there could be massive disappointment, because Cellino's cash and passion would have been welcome.
Agree1

Football league have a history of bad decisions and that is why they employed Harvey the creeper. The lunatics have now truly taken over the asylum but I reckon that they will regret taking on our boy Cellino.Good luck to him for he is the kind of man we need to fight fire with fire. But he does need our support otherwise they will get what they want and have penalised again.
Agree2

The FL have received final two documents requested from GFH which are being scrutinised by legal department. Positive announcement expected Friday 7th March at the latest. Fingers crossed everybody please. MOT

"I wish he could just pay the bill and all will go away. this takeover needs to happen."
So you judge him to be guilty without any right of appeal? What if he hasn't actually done anything wrong, as he claims?
The takeover seems to be hinged on GFH share dealing, not Cellino's problems?
If Cellino does pay this money he is admitting he is guilty, and that WILL prevent the takeover happening, so let's hope he doesn't end up having to do this.

Can the FA even do this? surely they have to respond within a set date? According to wpedia, even a fraud charge would not deem him unsuitable
Mr MaGoo442
Agree0

I hate all these conspiracy theories that the FA hate us and want us to fail, they don't. There is a reason that we are under a lot of scrutany whenever a takeover occurs and that is due to dodgy dealings and massive failings from the past, Ridsdale and Bates being the worst. The FA can't let Cellino takeover while there is a court case for tax evasion against his name. It is one of the big no-no's on there fit and proper chairman test so they can't ignore it.
Agree0
Disagree0
One thing for certain this court case will not be resolved on the 18th or the next date it is adjourned too, leeds MP has been told by the FA they want to sort this T/O sooner rather than later (possible BS from the FA to keep leeds MP off there backs). Any how we can only wait and see nothing else we can do really.

Cellino, who has a 2001 conviction for false accounting and is under investigation for alleged misuse of public funds relating to work on Cagliari's Quartu Sant'Elena stadium, is accused of illegally evading paying €400,000 import duty on the yacht, which was seized in Cagliari in 2010.
If you were the FL how could you let him go ahead and buy Leeds
Agree0
Disagree0
Because the first conviction is spent so cannot be considered and the others are not proven, so unless they are proven the FL cannot object to the take over based on these issues!
They might object because he wears sunglasses when the sun isn't shining!

Surely that's enough isn't it? Just look at the mess Cardiff are in!

Guardian sport reporting that FL are waiting until the outcome of the tax evasion hearing on Massimo on 18th to make a decision. If he loses they will reject him (just what they have been waiting for) and we will be dropped right back in the smelly stuff, which will no doubt have them guffawing into their Gin and Tonics.

These outstanding offence goes back to 2010, concerning 400,000 unpaid tax. Massimo was fined 1.65 mill and the yacht confiscated. on march 18th if they find him guilty, that would jeopardise is suitability has fit and proper. then we have problems. he has already splashed 6 million pounds funding GFH, staff, players, and their salaries etcetera. x your fingers. MOT

There would be a massive problem as I read somewhere that should the deal not go ahead Leeds would be charged 10% interest on the money they have borrowed from the Italian. That would be crippling

Howson back? You must be joking. Good enough for here and now but not for a premiership push this or next year. We need better.

He left us why would we want him back, also mccormack is no captain we don't have a natural leader at the club need one desperately

I can't se it either but would rather we went elsewhere for a loan midfielder. Too much rose-tinted hype about him as a local lad, he lacks the quality we need and he is too ineffective and lightweight for my liking.
Agree3

I must admit that there is some sentiment on my part, I did rate him when he was with us and I know he wanted to leave but in the absence of anyone who can create anything in the middle of the park, I think he would fill the gap until we go up!

Howson is a really good player at this level, in his best position of attacking midfielder, behind the striker(s). Have no issue with him having left us. The sour grapes stuff from some fans is just boring each time we're linked with a a former player. Do I think it will happen, though? No. Chapel A

I don't ever recall Howson asking or wanting to leave Leeds, to the best of my knowledge he along with Snodgrass were given little choice! The bates propaganda machine ethic of "it's my fooking club and my fooking money so I'll do what I fooking want to" has some forgetting this.
IMO Johnny Howson was a good servant and player while at Leeds.
Agree1
Disagree0
Andy -players move on, for a variety of reasons, often to further their career. I don't take it personally! It's part and parcel of the sport; it's part and parcel of their career. Howson never said he didn't want to play for our club. he never walked away. He was sold because our then chairman wanted the £750k Norwich were offering him. He was an excellent servant for this club, as were Snodgrass & Becchio. All great pros. Chapel A
Agree0
Disagree0
According to Simon Grayson the only player who wanted to leave was Delph, although I think Beckford wanted to go as well, I heard that Ben Parker said Howson didn't want to go, but at the end of the day we just want stability and investment in players, the last 10 years have seen so much turmoil at Eland Road
Agree1
Disagree0
According to Ben Parker howson was told to leave his contract was running out and bates wanted the cash to make the books look better as he wanted shot of us! He was offered a contract for less than most other players in the team and he was captain! Grayson had said that howson was gutted to leave. Granted he did say he was happy to join Norwich. But every single player says the same thing! Can't blame him for that! I would have him back!
Agree0
Disagree0
Past is past leave players there? So you wouldn't take back Milner, Lennon, max and snoddy?
Agree0
Disagree0
All players come out with, well I don't really want to go but iff it's more money they are off, don't hear them putting up a fight to stay either, they have clever agents who know their stuff, was howson forced?, do we really know the truth, and wasn't snodgrass finally encouraged to go to Norwich by howson and Johnson, who would not sign a new contract with leeds, (wanted more brass) neil warnock was desperate for snodgrass to stay, but he had his head turned too.
Agree0

"Hopefully he'll be at Elland Road next year - fingers crossed ;-)"
I hope he won't, with us in the premiership and Norwich relegated.

I understand what your saying and agree in principle of the bates regime.
Howson was a good player and when he left for one reason or another he NEVER stated he wanted to stay? Becchio wanted more money I will leave it at that.
Lets get youth in, young blood who want to run through brick walls, proud to where our shirt and give 100% when its pulled on and most all be proud of who LUFC are.
(we seem to get players with limited passion) I know Rudi Austin gets slated but I find it hard to criticise someone who gives 100% no matter how good bad they look.

Howson had one good season IMO and looked to have a great future ahead of him. Alas he has nver fulfilled his potential and the proof is that he's rotting in the reserves in Norfolk.
Not good enough for them, not goog enough for us. We can get better, much better!
Agree0
Disagree0
Howson is useless does nothing and we are better off without him. him and johnson were weak links in our team it was inly larrys blindness to them that kept them in team hopeless
Agree0
Disagree0
Howson was a very good player for leeds, he didn't ask to leave, he was forced out. He was not offered a contract that reflected his skill or contribution to the team. He had the chance to play at the top level in English football, he has never disrespected the club. There is not one of you out there who would not leave their job if you had the chance of moving to a company that was operating at a higher level and was offering you more money and securty

Howson could be lazy sometimes, no consistency, and iff he was forced out, that will be why, Norwich was his only option at that time, with more money and he has I believe signed another new contract recently with more money, don't know iff he has done much there either to earn that with being injured or not selected!
