Oh for a chairman like the great harry Reynolds. In the revie era he had much to do with the success of the club. Wasn't just all down to the don. Plain speaking. Truthful. No lies. No spin. Just totally dedicated to the club. Those where the days. 40.000., 50.,000 crowds. The scratching shed full. Fans halfway up the floodlight pylons. Even some on roof of the stands. Over 135.000, for the Celtic game at hampdon. If U think its noisy in Elland Rd now. U ought to have heard it in those days! I used to come home. Voice gone. Raging headache. And wife would say "I don't know why U go. May as well stay ay home . U know the result allready. They always win,! No way as many injuries too. Sprake. Reaney. Cooper. Bremner. Charlton. Hunter. Lorimer. Clarke. Jones. Giles. Gray. Didn't need to read the team sheet. With madely filling in where ever it was needed. Terry cooper. As good on the wing as he was at full back. I look at my two grandsons. In there Leeds tops. As they watch the latest fire offering with dissapointment on there faces. And tell them.dont worry lads things will change soon and the glory days will be back. But I know they don't believe me. I don't think they will either. But I just hope for my grandsons sake i'm wrong. And we get back to where we belong in there lifetime. Because it certainly isn't going to happen in mine! I know prob most who use this site won't remember those days and think i'm a silly old sod . But just saying. And no one can take my memories away at least.

Super post with great memories re the past. Leeds united was built on such great ambassadors. Perhaps the chairman needs to be bombarded with messages letting him know that it does not take much ambition tot striver to get out of the championship immediately. No owner in the world.says that business expansion is put on hold for two years while life goes merrily on. Success is being optimistic doing your best and try to reach the top. You would not tell a child you can fail your exams because you can not better your self as you are a lost cause. Every other manager must be having a great laugh. I am sick and tired of this inferiority complex. If GFh are not up for the fight they should move on. The championship is really mediocre so why not go out to get promotion straight away.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we do not go up this year let's forget about it. This two year plan is ridiculous. Two years on the top tier are richer and Leeds still will have no guarantee of the top flight. No ambition spells failure. An owner of any enterprise would not get away with that defeatist attitude. If Wigan had that attitude despite the lack of talent and riches of the Manchester city side they would not have beaten them in the final last year. Bradford city excelled too. Southampton gained promotion in their first season in the championship. You did not hear their chairman say we have to wait for two years what a laugh we are becoming.

I remember it well. Spoken from the heart!

Great post mate but nothing stays the same. I love LEEDS but realize that everything changes in life and maybe in 10 years we will be best team in the country and manchester utd will be bottom of the championship! But for now we are a long way off but it doesn't really matter as much as some people think. We ARE Leeds and that's what its all about as far as i'm concerned. So bring on barnsley, yeovil, and all because we are LEEDS.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just brought back the memory of Eddie Gray scoring on his debut against Shef Wed. turning on a tanner and hammering it into the kop end goal. Come on you Leeeeds.

One great post! I wish I get to experience er like that!

Hi Ed

I'm after a couple of tickets for the game at Derby on Saturday but can't purchase any as I'm not a member as I live too far away to go to many games to make it worth my while. Would you be able to see if anyone can help please? Many thanks, JNLUFC {Ed013's Note - If you are on twitter mate sent me a tweet to @LeedsEditor and I will broadcast it as someone may have spare tickets. Its 50/50 whether they will ask for a card, or you could get the lowest price one and buy your ticket in time for Sat as there are around 500 left. It is always useful being a member as if a trip to Wembley some how happens you will get a ticket}

As I have said previously Leeds are going to be left behind the big players in the premiership if we don't act fast. How can a club go into the season without ambition for automatic promotion. Being a professional you strive for the top prize not second or third best. The chairmans comments are ridiculous you would aware we were striving to win the champions league. Amateur Irish sport team strive for the top prize despite the fact that they do not get paid. Check gaelic football and hurling on line to see the commitment and skill. If gfh think Leeds fans will accept this drivel they are in for a shock. Leeds should strive for promotion this year. When promotion is achieved the sky investment plus increased attendances plus sponsorship will provide enough clout for the team to at. Least stay safe for a few seasons. The championship is mediocre so at least let's show we can strive to get out of this division immediately. It is a myth that you need great players to get out of the championship. James a loyal Leeds fan since early seventies.

Hears my view on the loan issue. I believe Brian has 2 deals lined up for after the international brake. Maybe a player who is only available when the teams in question get players back from injury. Or maybe a player on loan for a month at other championship team that's done we'll. example The lad who's gone to donny from the team we luv to hate. That would make MR Ryan luv leeds even more! I still think Vaz Te will end up at Leeds don't know why. Probably because we would get 2 players for one, winger /striker

David Haigh said earlier this year "Our ambition is to be back in the Premier League in two years and we think that's a realistic goal, it's what we are aiming for", but to lay the foundations, you would expect to see more through the door than a journeyman striker, a young unproven centre back, a young unproven striker and a young unproven midfielder

The stupid statement made this week by Nooruddin that promotion was no longer attainable in two years.

GFH thought this was achievable back in July and now with a new investor on board, it should surely be easier to fund a promotion push

question for you GFH : Why has this changed, I think you should have gone in politics and stayed away from football, you are turning into a bloody joke!

If you can sort this out or at least get you stories straight, I'm sorry you should move on.

If this contuses, the I and many more like me will stay away from ER until you stop messing around with our club. We had enough!

Lmaooo it didn't take long before we got "im stayin away for . This reason" awww well hope to see you in premiership mate.

No faith. No support. Stay away then.

Fair weather fan, not bothered about people like you, stick with your team through thick and through thin or don't stick with us at all. I would rather have 10,000 diehards than 30,000 fans like you.

If you've got Alex Mowatt being selected in front of Luke Murphy, you've surely got to question BMD? He paid over a £1million pound for him for crying out loud!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ross mc wants to play up front & says he willw score goals, great then we should get bentley in to replace ross in his old position

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I agree, for a club with not a lot of money, 1 million for one player is too much. OK if he's a striker going to score 20+ goals, fine, but a midfielder?

Agree0 Disagree0

Brian's job is to pick the team that wins. Players have patches of bad form and the youngsters need to be given a chance. If the team that wins includes mowatt ahead of Murphy then so be it. I'll get behind whoever is on the field and so should every other leeds supporter. I agree Murphy hasn't proved himself yet but he is new to the league, still young and clearly has enormous quality and potential.

Agree0 Disagree0

You have to wonder I agree, you wouldn't see an Arsenal youngster being selected in front of Ozil would you.

Agree0 Disagree0

No you wouldn't but nor we paid £40 million + for murphy

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the fact he is not afraid to drop him considering his bad form. maybe it's what the lad needs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Murphy will come good i'm pretty certain of that he will be up there with the most assists in the league

Agree0 Disagree0

'No you wouldn't but nor we paid £40 million + for murphy'

What a ridiculous reply, its all relative, the poster is saying at £1m, given our finance. Murphy is our Ozil, a marquee signing, a statement, but it looks like tyrning sour, and the original poster is questioning BMD's judgement if that's the case, I agree, for a club of our finances, if your going to spend that kind of money you've got to get it right, it can't be 'one for the future', and at the moment it doesn't look like BMD got that one right.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why are people so insistent on choosing a team based on value? The best players at that moment in time should start.

Hello all you Leeds fans out their . I'm sorry for letting the cat out of bag this week, the truth is, we can't find anybody that want to get into bed with us.

Things are going well to be honest and at the end this season we will be able to get the wage bill down and the bring some youngsters through, which should seriously increase our profit margins.

Ken told us all you accept whatever we did . and he was right, so happy days.

Keep turning up and keep spending your money, but don't expect anything from back us . Yours truthfully, Mr Nooruddin

What Nooruddin said this week, tells me that GFH, are feeling there way as they go, they have no real idea still what to do with Leeds Utd. He has said Leeds will not be aiming for promotion this season or next season, so why have I brought season ticket?? . this is totally unacceptable . Please explain why people should buy a ticket and come and watch the buys the white, when you have no plans at board level or on the ground until 2015/16 season.

I'm sorry but GFH have no money and no ideas. They don't want to invest, but want us all to invest and keep going and spend our hard earned cash . You are making yourselves look really silly guys and we have all had enough of the spin . Nooruddin has really P***** me off this week, the man has showed himself to be a joke . DHL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really do feel sorry for you season ticket holders after that statement. There's being honest with your fans and coming out with stupid comments like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. Hats off to you season holders. Last ten years been awful and now the light at end of tunnel is like a strobe. Investment and players coming one minute then no players and no promotion for a few years
On the bright side. Do you really think mcd will be willing to waiy 3+ years for prem? I think not!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive been going to ER since 1985 and been a season ticket holder for many years.
in all that time I would wish the days away looking forward to the weekend and going to watch my beloved Leeds utd.
Even under Bates's reign until his last year in charge I didn't let him get me down or squash my excitement.
But this season just feels different i'm not enjoying watching us play and now the owners come out with statements like this.
im really considering not renewing my ST again

If this rumour about investment comes true
I think we need a holding midfielder so we can use austin as cover plus a winger and at least one striker. Most prob keep varney and mcc and poleon.
We are only 3-4 players off walking this league next year. With mowatt etc coming through we will have a good blend. Defense looks ok as long as midfield and strikers keep the ball and pass forward more often

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In reply to my own post. I elected above to keep the three strikers already on our books when mcd came. Hope mcd judgement improves to equal his man management skills
