Upon having a bit of a look at TC's APOEL team and how they play, I'm looking forward to the new season. Realise the Cypriot league isn't of the highest standard but the Europa League run speaks for itself. All this talk of people hoping he doesn't bring any players with him would be missing out on some key talent. Vinicius, Efrem and Benaglio could all do a massive job for Leeds from what I saw, Efrem wide left looks a naturally left footed winger who can finish ans deliver a ball. Vinicius was just your Frank Lampard type, setting up goals and scoring them with equal effect. Would be stupid to look past Igor de Camargo aswell, would be ideal competition for Wood and even a good foil for him if we're chasing a game with 15 mins left or so. TC's teams love control of the game, use possession wisely and love going forward. Scores lots of goals and barely concedes, although being a different league is taken into account, with better players you'd assume even better results. Something to ponder for those who are majorly negative right now. I think 100% he's the perfect replacement for progression made last season.

Apoel are better than us, I think there's the usual ignorance towards a league that has no coverage over here and isn't raved over. They managed to go further than Tottenham and Southampton in the Europa League and beat Barcelona's new manager at Bilbao. Would definitely take Efrem.

I think its less that he came from a 'nobody' team, rather that he came from a dominant Celtic type team. He was meant to win the Lg so we really don't know how good/bad he is, its the unknown quantity that worries people.

Good insight into the Cypriot league but I would be wary of the quality if Matt Derbyshire is one of the top scorers baring in mind that he was released by Rotherham

Can't see us winning. They'll nick an early goal and a late goal. It's nailed on they'll go up and results fine how they have this weekend with Huddersfield (never true contenders) , Norwich on their slide and Brighton only getting a point at Villa, Newcastle will come to try and cement top spot and stick an even healthier advantage on it. I think we'll play well but just lose out in the end. I say 2-1 to Newcastle. Although if we could win it I'd be obviously over the moon with the amount of nonsense their fans have been saying about how easy the championship and no one can give them a game etc. So it would be nice if it was us who shut them up.

3 1 to leeds a wake up call for the toon army.

2.) 19 Nov 2016 18:41:21
agree I think we will lose 2-0 or 2-1 however still great season and much improved so happy even if we get beat, love us win lose or draw and pleased to see us on the up even if we do lose as expected tomorrow.

3.) 19 Nov 2016 19:16:14
A win puts us up to 4th so that should motivate us.

4.) 19 Nov 2016 20:18:45
Think positive bw and dcd. We're going to win and we're going to be 4th.

5.) 20 Nov 2016 08:59:26
i hope so lucas and what is really positive is if we win I would not be suprised and many leeds fans think we will win which is great and shows how far the club has come and how well we are doing, I hope if we lose this site doesn't become all negitive again as win lose or draw today we are doing well and improving.

It's January and the window is open BUT do after the performances of up one week and down the next inspire courage of a January spending spree?

I mean why not bank the Byram money, accept we aren't getting out of this division this season be it up or down and just look to securing the talent we have for next year and then revisit our options in the summer.

Maybe a loan here or there to cover injuries but I can't see us doing any business that'll transform us into play off contenders now. We needed to beat Forest, Derby and MK Dons to have a realistic chance of latching onto that last spot and it doesn't seem likely now after a sub standard performance against the latter.

This is just one man's opinion for what it's worth (nothing I hear you cry lol) .

Sell Byram, move on to progressing Lewie Cole and keep the conveyor belt of talent going. That academy is flourishing right now because there is a distinct chance that if they play well they may get a go in the 1st team. If there is more little gems in that youth squad, I'd prefer to unearth them before spending frantic January money on someone who was so desperate to leave their club.

Like I say, just an opinion, I'm sure you all have your own. :)

good idea bring on youth and sell sell sell. your having a laugh and mc got money so we don't need to sell but we bo need players . second string like doukara proving no good just the odd game . again two good games then rubbish the game we should win we struggle like hell . so back to square one.

2.) 03 Jan 2016 09:50:02
It's hardly back to square one!
A few weeks ago we were almost in the relegation places but the team have had a good run, and I for one are pleased.
Alright, yesterday was a disaster, but we still scraped a point.
I agree that the academy is creating some great players and long may it continue, so if we keep some and sell some for a good profit, then it is doing its job. If Byram wants to leave then good luck to him, let's cash in and look at the options
Sounds like a good business model to me.

Can't we just truly say though, that putting everything else aside and all the chaos to the back of our minds.

It takes a certain type of player to pull on a shirt for any club, but none more so than at Leeds United, and we just do not have or breed that kind of player anymore? .

I've seen players come on loan to Leeds who are now touted as world beaters and premier league stalwarts, yet they couldn't cut it at Leeds United.

The club is bigger than the players we have or have had for a very long time and I just don't think the players who we have realise this. I don't think until Steve Evans we've had a manager whose realised this either, since Simon Grayson of course.

I think if we'd have kept Snodgrass, Gradel, Howson, Johnson, Becchio, Beckford and added to those Byram, Cook, Mowatt, where would be be right now?

We sold (very cheaply) our identity in a team of winners.

I know we all blame Mr Cellino but you can be greatful that he hasn't buckled and let those players go because he wanted to pocket a few quid off the back of them.

Until we find that squad spirit and calibre of player in their primes again, we won't be going no where near the promised land.

That's all I wanted to say anyway. I realise off field problems don't help, but until our major on field problem is resolved, I honestly don't think what's happening in the boardroom etc will ever matter.

I hear where you're coming from DC. But the reason we still have the promising young players, I believe, is no one came in with any bids for them. If big bids had been offered MC no doubt would have cashed in. Of course we can't be sure of that, its just my opinion, but that's exactly what he used to do at his former club. As for team spirit. Well that starts with the manager and the players having stability. Chopping and changing the coach upsets the dressing room as every time a new one arrives he has his own ideas on players and systems and generally (like Evans) wants to bring in a whole load of new players, hinting present ones are not good enough. Hence, you then have an unsettled squad. We need a manager with a settled group of players but unfortunately with MC as president this is unlikely.
Personally I think our squad should be top 6 or there abouts at this moment in time. Wood will come good, as will Mohatt. Cook is pure class. Fullbacks are top draw. I suppose a top CB is needed and a keeper too, but i'd say every club in championship would say a couple of new players is needed.
Not exactly sure why, but I generally still have faith in this squad. A win tomorrow and maybe, just maybe, the players might start believing in themselves too.

Please tell me you don't include Wooten in your Too Drawer Full Backs!

Not a rumour but Rosler said talking to LUTV that he's been pleasantly suprised with Nicky Ajose in summer training lol . I honestly don't know what to make of that, either Rosler is off his rocker or Hockaday had eye for talent haha

1.) 09 Jul 2015 16:30:53
Hockaday was not in charge of transfers so it is neither.

2.) 09 Jul 2015 17:44:37
I thought that was the only signing the hock had a say in?

3.) 09 Jul 2015 18:32:57
I can spot a decent player - does not mean I could turn him into a star! He did ok on loan maybe he just needed some time on the pitch - good look and I hope he turns out to be awesome - whilst he pulls on a Leeds shirt.

If you glance a sneaky eye at these players records that could be coming in, it's assists and goals, so I believe TC has studied last season and knows in the championship, the best form of defence is attack. He's already said he wants to dominate games and score. He might turn out to be a flop yet, but he's only said good things in my eyes. Be interesting to see where his philosophy has us 10 games in, I'm genuinely excited. If his style is anything like Jokanovic at Fulham, then we could be in for an enjoyable season.

I agree, been a fan of Ayala for a while now, especially at Championship level. Fear for what kind of partnership he'd make with Pontus though, both can be abit rash, but on their days far too good for Championship.

If we're looking at journey men strikers who know the league then I'd rather take Daryll Murphy from Newcastle, apparently surplus to requirements there.

Never heard of the new guy, don't claim to know much about him either but the over riding feeling when I saw him named was 'WTF! ? ! Whose he? ' Lol, just like many others. So I did as 99.9% of Leeds fans and Googled the guy and I can now say after it's all died down, I'm full of optimism and excitement.

Sure it's not a name we know, but where has that gotten most teams anyway. If come next May, we're 1st then it won't be us saying "who is this Thomas Christiansen" it'll be the rest of the league's saying "We need someone like a Thomas Christiansen" just like everyone's done with Carvalho or Wagner. We can't get our head around it here as we're old fashioned but on the continent this is a regular occurrence.

Can you imagine if Porto had said "Nah, don't want that Mourinho fella, he wasn't even a decent footballer" He's far from a Hockaday and to say that is massively unfair on TC (Why do I feel if he's successful there will be Top Cat references) . He's been far more successful and has more experience than Hockaday. He's been headhunted for a reason, makes me laugh at how people say its the cheap option when Radrizzani 1st choices were Wagner and Stam, who would've wanted a decent wage and compensation would have been due. I prepared to give this guy a good shot at it, atleast 1 season. I didn't even want Monk this time last year, I wanted Evans to stay and look how that worked out. MOT!
