Prem, I agree with you

Can you imagine how much Norwich would have held out for if Grealish had already been transferred and they were cash rich

I can see Villa (never thought they were a big enough club to despise and mock their name) bringing in another mid priced player (Ward Prowse) .

I see Whelan thinks that a huge bid for Raphinha will prompt us to sell. What on earth is his logic?
Cos we need the money! Don't think so not with TV money and 49ers money already in the coffers and a billionaire just added to the board.
Cos it what we do? Then just cast your mind back to the huge bid from Villa for the Championship player Kalvin Phillips. We knocked that back and we did need the money then.

Whelan, hang your head in shame. The business model you hint at does not play out in real life

Raphinha will be off next year. To a huge foreign club. At his optimum selling price. Like Leicesters business model (I just hope we can offload a crap centre half to the Scum for a Kings ransom in the future)

Aston Villa has spend large amounts for a number of years. It wouldn't surprise me if the spent another £100 mill this year and kept Jerk.
I'm sure they don't want to sell so we will see.

Just checked and it looks like Vile are biggest net spenders over the last 2 years (since they were promoted) at 280 million.
Lots of teams would be worse if averaged over more years as lower league status would reduce spends.
Last year we were 3rd biggest net spend but made a profit the season before.
So maybe there are enough funds to be able to keep Jerk, similarly a balancing of the book could be in order. Time will tell.

Can’t see him being sold this year tbh, 4 years left on his contract, club captain and local lad, and the plan seems to be to build the squad around him. our owners are loaded they definitely don’t need the money they seem genuinely determined to push the club up the table, I think they are currently looking at buying a club in Spain also, but it is football so u never know really.
when we tried to buy Philips from you the bud was accepted but Philips himself turned it down there was lots of articles about it at the time, he was given the option from your chairman but talking with his family is what made his mind up to stay at Leeds, fair play to him I say 👌.

Don’t think they will keep him. Think Man Utd will buy him for about $70 mill.

I think it will be the same as Phillips in that someone will bid big and it will be up to the player to either stay or push for a move. Think a lot of persuasion over the next few weeks in the England camp will happen from Man U and City players to get his head turned. I personally think if he has a good tournament, he will leave to play Champions League football.

Vile don't need to sell, they have very rich owners, like MG says it will he his call, maybe 1 more season and see were Vile are, if there not challenging he may jump ship, (similar to kane)
Question for the wanna be leeds supporters from Vile, if your club are lookin to push on and spend big to push top 4 is your Manager good enough or will he be a victim of a push for success.

Not sure tbh rich, I thought he lost his way a bit last season after a great start, only time will tell, looking at the investment our owners have put in re transfers I can’t see them being overly patient if we don’t have a really good first half of the season, but on the other hand look at Everton they had the big name manager they have added some big signings in last couple of seasons so the investment was there, had a great start then finished outside Europe places, it’s not going to be easy for any team to break into top 4 so it’s probably a case of trying to get top 6 for a couple of years on the spin then try get the big manager.

It’s not just about having rich owners tho, is it? The books still have to be balanced to avoid falling foul of ffp, and if Villa do spend another £100m, without player sales, and reducing the wage bill, they will be playing a very tricky game on that front based on their escape from the wrath of the EFL a couple of years ago.
