Ambrosia allegedly interested in signing Ilan Meslier as long term replacement GK for De Gea. Think our demand price tag for him should be quarter of a billion pounds.

De tea only 32. He got another 5-6 yrs in him.
Mez would be over the 100 mill for sure.
Don’t think he would want to play for a team clearly on a decline of Mount Everest proportions.

The Radz Model : buy high and sell cheap would let Meslier go for around £28 million or something ridiculously low like that.

Brighton and Leucster make sure thet get too dollar for their players but Leeds nmost certainly do not in the sales of KP, Raph, even Jannson, Roofe

And considerably overpay on Costa, DJ Rodrigo, JKA.

Baz - think you’re rather overstretching things to suggest we have a buy high sell cheap model. We’ve all gone over the Raphinha and KP cases several times, and the fact is that you can’t get an auction going where there’s only one bidder that a player wants to move to, and besides, you can’t argue that Raphinha was bought high. In general, the model Leeds are actually aiming to follow is to buy cheap - Roca and Rasmus fall into that category, and in due course Aaronson, Adams and Sinisterra may seem quite cheap. Harrison was cheap, Struijk was free, Koch seems likely to be an inexpensive acquisition, Meslier was very cheap and Joffy develops as currently expected, he’ll have been an absolute bargain, and you could. Greenwood, Summerville, Hjelde, Klaasen and Bate were all picked up for next to nothing and will either develop into really good players for us or be sold for a decent profit and the likes of McGurk, Mullen, Joseph, Perkins and even Gyabi (at £5m) have a decent chance of proving to be shrewd and relatively inexpensive additions.

Of course there are a number of more expensive acquisitions, and we are far from alone in finding that such purchases are not guaranteed to work out.

Baz You think you would've faired better in negotiations with the Citeh ultimate professionals or the Spanish gangsters? Lol. What would you have done? Throw your zimmer and Ovaltine ? at them? Both players wanted to go and only to those clubs. That wipes off 10 to 15% in valuation right there. There's that 90% for you again. No wonder.

Clu

you think Brightor Leicester would have agreed to sell KP and Raph even with just one bidder for £42 million and £49 million?

Would they fork.

Gotta agree there Baz. they would have set the bar high, as we all suggested we should have done.

Baz - they have never been in a position where a player actually wanted to go to one club only so it’s easy for you to claim they wouldn’t do so - and for what it’s worth, I believe they could well have.

Clubs generally need to generate money from sales in order to regenerate their squad. It’s been widely reported that Leicester City are the only club in Europe’s top 5 leagues not to have bought even 1 new player so far this window. They are very keen to do so and had expected Tielemans to go this summer to help fund new arrivals. Arsenal appears to be the only club known to have an interest in Tielemans, but has not yet made an official offer this summer, and if they come in with a bid below Leicester’s hoped for figure it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. The player is known to be open to such a move but there is nothing to suggest he would not wish to go to any other club, so Leicester may feel it worth holding out in the hope another club comes in with a higher bid.

However, if no other offer were forthcoming and Leicester turned down Arsenal, they could potentially see the player leave for free next summer and meantime they could also have an unhappy player on their hands, and reduced chances of bringing in the fresh blood they hoped for this summer.

Clu your example of Tielemans of not a good one with 1 year left on his contract whereas KP and Raph had 2 years

I agree with Brighty you set the bar high and stick to it, and otherwise keep the player

With World Cup first teams to get in there is zero chance that either Leeds supporter KP or Raph would not have excelled in Leeds first team this season .

Leeds near enough " giving " away Raph both in price and risk to Barcelona was a bad deal allround.

I caht think of any club who are worse at negotiating playing hard ball than Leeds United and specifically your Uncle Victor

, but hey feel free to name just one club Clueless. good luck with that because don't believe there is a worse negotiating club.

Anyway Baz, you don’t seem to have acknowledged the wider response to your earlier claim within my previous email.

Your apparent dislike/ distrust/ disdain for Radz, Orta and Kinnear seems to make for a very ‘one-eyed’ assessment of much that goes on at our Club. Perhaps if you were prepared to take a wider view, you might see that there is much to appreciate about what is being done, and that there might actually be a strategy in place.

Obviously we all hope that we will yet bring in reinforcements at CF and LB, but even if we don’t, I for one feel that the new signings already made will help keep us above the relegation scrap this season. The Board’s stated expectation is that we’ll finish between 10th and 14th. Next summer will see further investment to replace some of the older squad members and the likes of Firpo if they fail to kick on from last season’s form. And with our burgeoning ranks of talented youngsters becoming more ready to play a significant part within the first team we could then see the first push towards a European spot.
