I like Rutter but I’d have taken that! He’s very hit and miss and his finishing is woeful, £30m could be invested into a much better/ deeper squad. £8-12m on Smodzics or whatever his name is from Blackburn and you’ve still got plenty to put towards the debt.

I'm glad they rejected. Watching Rutter is like entertaining, like a drunk squiddly-diddly about to fall over but never does.
Rutter plays best when he can feed bam and prince. Get a quality striker up there and rutters value will double.

Whoever doesn't want to be at Leeds can all go for me. If Rutter wants to stay than we must keep him.

I love Rutter and think his ceiling is very high with a few tweaks (finishing, decision making and pressing ability off the ball) which will come with experience. Wouldn't want to sell him as he's been integral to how we've played and any (relative) success we've garnered this season.
Wouldn't wanna sell a 21-year-old with the world at his feet to bring in a soon-to-be 29-year-old who's had one breakout season at this level in his entire career. Diminishing returns at that age, too. Rutter is only getting better and will be worth more this time next year. Will hazard a guess and say we can't say the same for Szmodics.

Didn’t realise he was that old tbh Dill. Yes the returns would be minimal but we have to get out this league this year or we’re in deep poo!
Rutter is good and as mentioned very entertaining but he’s so raw, if we were PL and could loan him out I’d keep him but this is the Championship and 30-40m quid is a huge sum for a club in this division. If not Szmodics then someone else.

Didn’t we pay £35m for him? So take a loss? On someone with the potential to be over £80m as his brain catches up with his feet, or vice versa? No way. Can’t beat having a player like him in the team; his enthusiasm is infectious, his talent is raw, but has massive potential, and I love how happy assisting and scoring makes him. Plus he doesn’t like to lose. Must keep at all costs imo.
