Doing the rounds in Spain that Orta is now targeting Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio as an alternative to Traore.

Gummie

1.) 02 Aug 2021 13:31:49
He's not good enough. Just had a season comparable with Tyler the Creator.

2.) 02 Aug 2021 15:13:44
Asensio is a very decent player, but like a fair few at madrid we’re stifled by Zidanes reign. Bielsa would definitely get him back to his best and even convert him into an 8 or 10.

3.) 02 Aug 2021 16:49:54
Well, I don’t mind Asensio if he agrees to a pay cut. He used to be quality player.
Will increase status of the club as well. Such deals shows other players that we are building a serious project.

4.) 02 Aug 2021 21:59:30
Good points Russia.

5.) 04 Aug 2021 12:15:28
You can forget Asensio now according to Phil Hay. He says our winger targets is one of James, Kent or Lang. Lang is surely the more probable.

Rumour that Ortas GK shortlist is down to 3 names - Woodman (Newcastle) , Cardenas (Levante) and Klaesson (Valerenga)

Gummie

1.) 13 Jul 2021 17:11:35
For me preference wise I'd be wanting Woodman then Klaesson and then Cardenas. All good keepers, but with varying experience. Klaesson seems to be the one we are on with as he's the youngest, has the highest potential ceiling, has played a significant amount of first team games and we enquired about him during the time we got Meslier.

Would love Woodman, but can't see him wanting to come to battle it out/ play 2nd fiddle. Can't see Newcastle wanting to let him go either tbh.

2.) 14 Jul 2021 03:37:30
Pretty much the same jordy.

12 Jun 2021 15:44:43
Us and Everton looking at bringing in Marcelo from Madrid? Not sure how seriously to take this one, can't believe it has any legs but £5m and a 2yr contract will supposedly get it done. Reports did say we where after a LB that hadn't been mentioned.

Gummie

1.) 12 Jun 2021 17:03:43
Can't imagine his wages would align with our pay structure.
Don't want something like that affecting team cohesion.

2.) 12 Jun 2021 17:24:18
He would def need to take a huge pay cut or Madrid pay a heft percentage towards. If we got him and got him playing like we all know he can he would be a fantastic signing, just don't see it.

3.) 12 Jun 2021 22:24:49
33 yrs old as well which seems outside the age of our usual recruits.

4.) 13 Jun 2021 00:31:53
Was the best LWB in the world a couple of years ago. 33 or not if we can get him playing again he would be a huge improvement on what we have.

5.) 13 Jun 2021 10:24:40
Yes but can a 33 Yr old cope with Bielsaball?

6.) 13 Jun 2021 12:25:13
Pabs did for two seasons quite well!? And actually showed in his final game that he was still capable (in fact more than capable) . Even MB conceded that he should’ve perhaps had more game time?

7.) 14 Jun 2021 10:32:26
Not happening. As Gummie says, huge pay cut required - currently on a mere £331,000 a week. Everton supposedly interested, and I guess they might push to around half his current wage, their current highest are Bernard and Yery Mina - both on £120,000 - and it’s perhaps the kind of desperate stunt they might pull to try to get in the mix for a European place next season - signing James Rodriguez was a slightly lower level move in this ‘Hollywood’ direction - though he’s only on £90,000.

Though Marcelo generally seems a fairly decent bloke, having such a high profile player within the club does not seem like a move Bielsa would want to make. He seems to be a team player, but even so the addition of such a player could risk unbalancing the current dynamics within the squad and the club as a whole.

Beckham is supposedly also interested in taking him to Miami, and of course they’ve been friends since they played together at Real in Marcelo’s first season there. Most importantly perhaps, media outlets in Spain seem to be reporting that the player actually wants to see out the last year of his contract there - currently vice-captain and could be made captain if, as expected, Sergio Ramos leaves. He also has a good relationship with Ancelloti, who gave him more playing time than any other manager during his previous stint at Real. Of course the player could be saying this to help push up the wage suitors might offer through his agent, to entice him away. Either way, can’t see him playing here next season.

8.) 14 Jun 2021 13:20:10
⬆️⬆️that⬆️⬆️.

08 Jun 2021 14:27:25
Casey looks to be on his way out. Wanted by Blackpool on a perm and we are ok with him leaving, seems Cresswell is preferred long term.

Gummie

03 Jun 2021 02:04:22
Just a little update on Nandez, read something earlier today suggesting that that signing is potentially all but done (thats contract and fee) with us just oking the fee and sorting the finances before completing the signing. Story from an Italian tabloid, don't know how reliable it is.

Gummie

1.) 03 Jun 2021 13:57:56
Well the player has a release fee so that would be easy enough but of course we are after a discount.

2.) 03 Jun 2021 17:21:30
I think the release is £31m and we are looking around the £25m mark though some reports have said £18m (think there is too much interest for him to go that cheap) .

Interesting side note from the Firpo transfer. Although it was never a story I bought in to it seems talk of Rodrigo been unhappy and wanting to leave this summer where well wide of the mark. Firpo has said talking to him helped sell the transfer as he waxed lyrical about the fans, stadium, squad and training under Marcelo. Doesn't sound like a player on the out.

Gummie

1.) 06 Jul 2021 14:30:20
Indeed Gummie, your post must have crossed my reply to the post below.

2.) 06 Jul 2021 14:35:09
Indeed Gummie, Rodrigo more than evidently extremely happy at the Super Leeds United.

3.) 06 Jul 2021 15:11:12
Another slight side note to the Firpo signing.

Rumoured that Arsenal have offered £50m for Ben White.

Orta has secured for us, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, IIlan Meslier and now Junior Firpo, for a combined total of just under £48m. Which gives a little change out of £50m to go towards the undisclosed fees paid for Pascal Struijk and probably our next right back Cody Drameh.

Just saying….

4.) 07 Jul 2021 02:08:10
Good value there clueless.
All that talent for less than Benny boy.
The players we bought will win us more points a season than Benny will save. Dead certain.

05 Jun 2021 22:15:10
Arsenal have offered Nketia around to us and a few others for £20m. If we've the money to spare after key signings it could be a great pickup. Quick, young, can finish but most importantly he knows the squad, knows the manager and knows what's expected in training.

Gummie

1.) 05 Jun 2021 22:30:03
But why don't Arsenal want him?

2.) 05 Jun 2021 22:37:03
Would take him but for half that amount. I'm sure for 20 mill we could do bettet.

3.) 06 Jun 2021 00:15:03
Gummie Was hoping for this and posted about it a few weeks ago. Perfect substitute and cover player. Price needs to come down to £15m then it's a good deal all round.

4.) 06 Jun 2021 00:25:12
Seen some big names linked to them Alf, think they are trying to clear out some fringe players to fill the coffers.
Dunno Canada, u23 international, the fact he counts towards that British quota, already scoring in the prem and he offers something different to Paddy and Rodrigo. It's a luxury signing but I don't think he's massively overvalued at that.

5.) 06 Jun 2021 01:16:45
And injury prone.

6.) 06 Jun 2021 01:17:57
Gummie and Canada -

Eddie didn't impress or really fit in and adapt playing for Leeds in the Championship, what on earth makes you think he would impress playing at an even higher level in the EPL for Leeds!

He simply wouldn't, and as Alf alludes why do Arsenal want rid of Eddie? : looking at his stats would be a first reason he has managed to play only 55 league games in 5 seasons since 2017 scoring just 8 goals! Mediocre.

Big NO THANKS. Need much better.

7.) 06 Jun 2021 02:39:26
Pick up for about $16 mill. Good for last 20 min sub. Worth a punt.

8.) 06 Jun 2021 06:41:36
Baz He requires significant nurturing but could be a highly effective sub coming on late in matches. He offers a different skillset than Paddy and offers a genuine goal threat as poacher. Would you really put it past Bub not to be able to advance him? He's still young.

9.) 06 Jun 2021 07:36:53
Good player but I don’t think Bielsa could see his potential as a Leeds forward. Think that’s where the conversation ends.

10.) 06 Jun 2021 09:19:39
Georgey is spending near £20 million on someone to ' come on late in matches ' as you put it good use of transfer funds. In a word NO.

Is he really a genuine goal threat? . His stats don't suggest he is. Leeds appearances 17 league games 3 league goals in the Championship with Leeds dominating matches.

Arsenal fans and Arteta simply don't rate Eddie and he has been overlooked throughout the second half of the season and contributed just 2 goals all season.

He generally doesn't have the technical ability nor strength to hold the ball up well, he certainly isn't that good at pressing, his goalscoring prowess remains negligible certainly at this EPL level. We need much better and certainly much better for the money the gooners want.

My prediction Eddie will join newly promoted Watford but really is a top half Championship level standard player.

11.) 06 Jun 2021 10:44:23
He proved it while he was with us, that he is a great option for a slight tweak in tactics. Changes the front line immediately, and causes head aches for an already tired back four. I’d take him at 20mill. He will be worth twice that in two years.

12.) 06 Jun 2021 10:44:39
How manybof those Leeds appearances were 10 min substitute ones?

13.) 06 Jun 2021 13:46:11
Canada - that's the point!

Never felt that Bielsa trusted Eddie to be more than a 10 minute sub :

at £20 million we need so much more from a striker!

one that can play and effect the entire 90 minutes if needs be, if Bamford was injured etc.

14.) 06 Jun 2021 14:41:38
Why did Bielsa treat him as a 10 min sub Baz?
Because Bamford was scoring that's why. Plus Eddie never got 100% Leeds fit due to where he started from and injuries.
So if you are looking to replace Bam with better then yes, we need someone special (would cost a lot more than 20 mill) . If we want someone to come on and use their guile and pace on a defence that Bamford has run ragged all game them the 10 mill I suggest is OK and Nketiah could be the answer.
Just look at how much he improved at Leeds. Enough to recall him and put him in their first team. He's young enough to become a great striker.

15.) 06 Jun 2021 17:22:25
A Bub fit Eddie, would be a massive bonus to us. Just as he got up to speed, they took him back!

16.) 06 Jun 2021 19:56:42
What 🇨🇦 said.
Baz This is why I'd only want us to spend in between £13m and £15m for him. I accept £20m for a substitute is prohibitive. Eddie has potential.

09 May 2021 00:51:39
After the players that came back today, correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time this season we have had our full strength starting 11 available? I know a few didn't start but it would mean we could see our best 11 next game. Puts into perspective how good a season we have had when it's last 3 games before we might get to see our strongest line up.

Gummie

1.) 09 May 2021 08:02:02
Was that the first time this season that the big four summer signings have actually been on the pitch at the same time?
Will certainly be interesting to see what Bielsa considers our strongest lineup to be!
Still no Forshaw though!

2.) 09 May 2021 16:57:25
I’m pretty sure it was against Everton and palace we had all 4 available.

08 Apr 2021 23:16:21
We are looking at bringing in Aguero?!?! Surely that's a wind up right?
32, injury prone but regardless that would be a literal game changer.

Just seen that Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Menino is potentially available this summer for £15m. Lots of top clubs tracking him but at 20 the offer of first team football might give us a chance if we went in. Described as the Brazilian Yaya Toure he can play as a specialist DM (Would make George happy) but also RB and CB, so nice and versatile.

Straight from his agent - no contact with Leeds over Mikkel and I know Victor quite well.
Another non starter then.
Tbf I think we maybe did look at him before the euros but he's added £10m to his price over the tourney, think that has put us off.

He's on £40k as far as I've seen, maybe €60k (not sure on my conversion rates at the moment) . Not unusual to pay a portion towards, Man city paid a significant part of Harrison's wage for instance.

Sounds like valuation of Cardenas is too high and Woodman has turned us down in favour of a loan to get first team. I'm happy with Klaesson but i'd kinda still like a proven older keeper just in case as a no 3.

Should also be pointed out that, with the exception of the LB position, anyone coming in will have to earn their starting place before ousting a player that did little wrong last year (whether that's Dallas, Klich or Rodrigo) so they will have time to get "Bielsa fit".

Tbf Me, with the way Orta works that could mean we have no one lined up or we've got 3 sorted and lined up for medicals by friday. How many have we only found out about a day or two before? Also euros + copa then players wanting some time off at least will hold a lot of transfers up.

At the end of the day I'm not too upset with how everything panned out. I predicted Italy to win the tourney before it started and I predicted the result tonight. It always felt a tournament too soon for this squad for me, not because of quality but inexperience and a lot of new partnerships. Most of this squad will play the next 2 or 3 major tournaments (walker maybe the only exception and i wouldn't rule him out of next summer at the least) , the world cup we will be better, euros after potentially better again. Rice, Philips and Mount will be scary if they stay together for the next few years.

Tbf George I wanted Perraud over Galan and whoever the other one we got linked with at the time (and he is coming to the prem so i wasn't far out) he wanted to come to the prem so it made sense as a move, was a prediction, we don't all have insider knowledge bud, Firpo wasn't even mentioned back then. Firpo v Perraud is a very different kettle of fish though (still would have been happy with Perraud though, think Southampton have got a really good player) .
