I have been a long time reader of this site and enjoyed the banter and work put in by the Ed's and thought I better join in and introduce myself . though not very good with the tinternet. ( Silver surfer) , started watching United when John Charles was a lad, if only we had him now!
Like many people . getting bored with Spygate and all the hypocrisy from so called experts and press, it's ok for them to look over the fence but not us, although not at all surprised, it's always been US against the world.
What a breath of fresh air Marcelo Bielsa is for the club and hope he can recreate the football played against Derby for the rest of the season, don't think I have seen football as good as that before in the Championship.
On a different note I miss the banter of Mad Mick and Speedie etc hope they are still cheering on loudly.

Welcome old lad. I hope I can call you that, because if you can remember John Charles playing you're definitely older than me. 😁

Welcome Spyticus. We're mostly old farts on here, so you should fit right in. As you will have noticed from the last sentence of Danum's post, probably for best that we have less from the younger end. Kids today, right fair. What do they teach em at school I ask?

Welcome Spyticus. I was born late 60’s so missed the great legend John Charles. I have great memories of plauers we had like carl harris, tony currie etc. Currie was amazing and could land a football on a sixpence. Also great memories as a teenager watching very young scott sellars, tommy wright, john sheridan etc. I thought they were amazing young players. But I always remember Ian Baird rattling the fencing jumping up at us in the kop when he scored at elland road. We have had great times since then under Wilko and Oleary but they seem a very long tome ago. Now as you say we are watching some exciting and fantastic football under Biesla. Truly amazing what he has done so far. let's get rid of the spy business now and get back to finishing off what excellence he has provided us with already. winning footy matches and onto the premier league. In marcelo we trust. MOT.

My first game 1952, Manager Frank Buckley, players I can remember Charles, Hair, Marsden, Dunn, Kerfoot, Nightingale, Brooks and a young Charlton. Jumpers for goal posts.

Love the post Phil.
My first game as a 14 year old travelling up from London was the last 16 FA cup against QPR. Arrived 5 or so minutes late after trying to drag my old man out of the boozer and heard an almighty roar walking up the steps. Sat down thinking we might have scored and asked the fella next to me what was the score and basically he said “look at the scoreboard you cockney w**ker” as he pointed to the board.
What a day it was. Baird and Ormsby right at the death to win it. After that day I was totally hooked. I absolutely love the club!

My first game was in 62 v Sunderland, 1-0 win thanks to Bremner. Charles was back with us then and Hair was still there with big Jack Willie Bell, Goodwin, Johanneson, Storrie, Collins and i think Younger was in goal. Only 17,000 at match because they had put the price up to 7s6d to pay for Charles. A certain Mr Clough was a Sunderland player back then. My next game was Bury and 28,000 saw that one as they had put the price back down again after Harry Reynolds had realised you can't fleece Yorkshire folk. Bremner scored again but we lost that one 2-1.

I missed John Charles first time round but caught when he came back. I can't remember my first game but I remember clearly Bobby Collins being signed so I guess 59/ 60 was my first season (with my dad) and luckily the emergence of all the kids.
