An appreciation post for the board, they don't always get it right but which board does these days, very few. Think radz has done exceptionally well, bielsa has been a real test of radz backbone and we've come out of the blocks flying, saying that didn't TC last year too. I see the next 3 weeks as the biggest of the season in all honesty, if we can keep up playing like that I think we might just break records this year, or we'll be brought back down to earth by the longevity of the championship. a great start though MOT.

1.) 13 Aug 2018 12:26:12
Great post Samo, and I think you're right about the next 3 weeks. The difference between Bielsa and TC is that MB is strong and experienced, and holds respect from the players, whilst not tolerating poor attitude. If we hold it together, based on those two performances, we could break records. That said, I do expect us to lose at least one game this year! 🤔😱🤐.

2.) 13 Aug 2018 12:28:13
Still early days, you are right better idea by the end of month after Swansea and Middlesbrough. Interesting to see how teams try and cope with us. Also hard to get a feel for how derby and stoke will really do this year. They might not do quite as well as people suggest.

3.) 13 Aug 2018 15:08:09
OMG I have just finished on a job and having a quick brew before heading off. and daydreaming

Beisla as manager. O'Leary's babes as his talent pool

Talented keeper. Robinson could play with the ball at his feet

3 centre backs who could all play a bit. Woodgate, Radebe, Ferdinand

2 wingbacks that can defend but definite help in attack. Kelly and Harte (even Mills could)

Defensive midfielder to allow the centre backs the opportunity to roam. Batty

Centre forward who can play others in. Viduka

Wide midfield who can link with the centre forward. Kewell and Smith

If only.

4.) 16 Aug 2018 12:52:29
Imagine how good that team would have been if we'd have had 11 players!

03 Jul 2018 11:14:31
My theory is that they're going about this transfer window in the wrong way. I think leeds have said we'll put 10 mil a side for a striker, 2 mil for a keeper, 4 mil for a cb, and the rest to spend on wages. When you look at that its 16million. I think instead of trying to budget what we've got, we spend what we've got, meet asking prices, and sign players, if we stick to budgets that we have made without enquiries someone else will come in and pip us to it. Vydra needs at least 11m spent on him, I think after that youll be fine up front. Roofe, Roberts, vydra, personally should all be good enough. Ekuban and grot and cibicki can go.

24 May 2018 08:12:32
Leeds apparently having a minority shareholder take over 30% of the club. Same bloke who owns San Fransisco 49ers, whos got big money. Radz still staying the main shareholder so power still lies, its just another investment from another place. This is good from radz to show he has lots of different ties. I just hope he gives the fans what he wants, he's doing very well at franchising the club and he's chosen a great club to franchise because its a one club city with a huge fan base, very good research mr radrizanni. All I want to see is 18 talented footballers winning games I don't care how they do it or who they spend their money on as long as its worth it in terms of playing football, but more money surely means more opportunities in the window like wolves had last year. the one thing I cannot get my head round, is why on earth is the bloke still employing orta and heck, he maybe needs to develop his ownership skills before giving these two the boot and employing a ranieri or someone, a big name will come to leeds soon I can feel it.

1.) 24 May 2018 09:56:18
Just think how much junk orta can buy now with that sort of money

2.) 24 May 2018 12:26:59
we could get around 20 useless players for that Martyn - I can't wait! We should try to get them on 5 year contracts this time as well.

3.) 24 May 2018 16:16:05
A good number of owners /investors with ties to nfl are looking across the pond . From what I have read so far investment level currently gives them 10% stake . If this is for the squad and we start to use are transfer money in a fashion I think we all agree we should then at most this is two players.

4.) 24 May 2018 18:04:49
Unless sako and ekuban have any brothers?

5.) 24 May 2018 21:29:31
I reckon 3 - 4 players, M&M from Posh, Barts and Abe will do nicely thank you 49ers.

6.) 25 May 2018 01:44:01
For 10 million Alf? Posh want offers over ten mill for m&m and brats is going to be 6mill then the Hernandez wages! Your looking at needing between 20_25 mill

7.) 25 May 2018 10:01:57
I think we will spend in the region of £20 mill this summer with the new investors, plus Radz own budget, on who, I have no clue, but I'm ever optimistic, and think a few may be surprised pleasantly.

8.) 25 May 2018 22:19:04
£2.5 for Maddison, rumours of £6.5 for Marriott, 4 - 5 for Barts and the Jerry money for Abe's wages . £17M ish according to my dodgy maths :) having said that, I think the Posh chairman is pushing his luck with a £6.5M valuation.

9.) 26 May 2018 05:19:14
Yeah. Not a fan of Marriott tbh. Saw him twice last season and a right miserable whining git if you ask me. Not sure he is heavyweight enough for champ!

10.) 26 May 2018 11:45:14
Someone thought Cbicki was heavyweight enough for t' championship ! ! Marriott looks like Mike Tyson next to him :)

08 May 2018 13:02:34
Ins: BPF, Miazek, lnergan, hadbad spell and he was pretty good when he first came into the team) Ayling, Hosannah, Jansson, Oconnor, Struijk, Diaz, Rey, Pearce, Berardi, Denton, Forshaw, Vieira, phillips, shaugnessy, ideguchi, klich, dallas, Hernandez, alioski, roofe struijk, diaz, Clarke, machuca, Edmondson, dalby, gomes, nicell, shackelton, Roberts.

Outs: Felix, cooper, okane, cibicki, sacko, lasogga, ekuban, saiz (be good to get 8-10m from wolves for him) anita, buoy, de bock, ty much everyone who I've slated this year bar roofe. I see roofe staying as hecky likes him and he is the only front line player we have on the books who you could expect to score.

Transfer ins: New GK, speroni perhaps on a free, brad jones or danny ward from Liverpool would also be good imo. New CB, liam moore would be ideal, expensive but a good option, also think liam Lindsay would do well, that bednarek at Southampton also looks good, and at 22 a loan might do him some good. I have a feeling barts could be swayed.

If he was to sign a 2/3 year deal with the club after work from ailing this summer, I think that sends a message out from radz. New LB, all the while I think Pearce is able, he gets injured and we are very light in LB, de bock can go for me. Dentons there but again you need experience, Fabio seems short of games at boro, might be worth a couple million quid?

I actually think were ok for central midfield, klich saying he has unfinished business at leeds is positive for me, him and Forshaw could teach Vieira a lot and I like phillips too. you need 2 wingers at least in my opinion, its great playing dallas and Hernandez there but Hernandez won't see out the end of his contract if you carry on playing him there, he needs to be in that number 10 for me.

leko at west brom looks interesting, brownhill also a good option as Bristol have faded towards the end of the year. oztumer and dack would also be good to get in if possible from league 1, and josh morris from scunny. I have no idea where you start with a striker, don't think mbakogu is the answer, and I don't think you should overload on new strikers but we need someone proven in this league. Hernandez at hull out of contract this year, would be an icredible signing, they love him at hull (I'm from hull unfortunately).

overall you're looking at 15m spending, and for getting rid of that lot (if you can get rid of it all) you're probably talking 15 million back including saiz. then it sup to radz how much further you want to go to ensure play offs. I think itll be another busy summer though.

1.) 08 May 2018 14:13:34
I can see where you're coming from on all points there Samo; an interesting post, and believe you're right that it will be a hectic summer of ins and outs, both sales, and purchases, as well as loans in both directions.

2.) 08 May 2018 16:42:48
A hectic summer of outs if Orta can work some magic. As for ins, not too sure. With a limited budget, going for quality and the threatened emergence of 2 or 3 young guns I can't see a large influx but 3 or 4 marquee signings will keep me more than happy. Either way/ some way I can see a very different squad starting next season, than finished this.

3.) 08 May 2018 17:47:09
It depends on what this "limited" budget is . M and M from posh, Barts, should be around £15M or so . some of the young guns stepping up now n again, an experienced keeper on a free and I reckon that'll just about do it, of course Eleven Sports might decide to invest some extra cash as well ;)

07 Mar 2018 08:41:33
if Bartley and Pablo go to Brum, i'll be broken.

1.) 08 Mar 2018 00:57:53
Don't think either of them will wanna plat league 1 :)

Opinions on bogusz? doing a job I hear for the 23's and first team training already at just 17, him and clarke the future?
I know izzy brown has proved he's good enough for championship level, but i'd rather blood in the young guns like shackleton, bogusz, gotts than some chelsea reject. All faith in bielsa, but should we be putting all our eggs into the basket of someone who has no guarantee of staying with us? give the young lads more time, although they've had plenty, I just see one of them coming out and replacing hernandez in the coming years, if its not already clarke. such youth all round at the moment, BPF, Kalvin, Halme, Struijk, Diaz, Bogusz, Shackleton, Davis, Clarke, Roberts, Kun, Edmondson, keep this lot together and you have a team there.

1.) 05 Mar 2019 13:18:02
Hardly putting all our eggs in one basket - Izzy has barely kicked a ball for us.

2.) 05 Mar 2019 14:18:58
Izzy has made a decent contribution to the under 23s and the fact he has only had 10 minutes in the first team in what Bielsa admitted was an extreme gamble, tells you the story. Bielsa doesn’t think he is ready. Bielsa has shown faith in Roberts and he repaid it in a large suitcase against West Brom, so he won’t be easily dislodged from the 10, Pablo can play there and Roofe when he comes back. Remember Tyler is only just 20!

Bogusz has only played a handful of games but has settled in really well to the under 23s. I can see him featuring pre season. But so much depends on what league we are playing for him and the other under 23s in terms of how quickly they could feature.

3.) 05 Mar 2019 15:19:29
I like that some of the U-23s should really be in the U-18s ☺️.

4.) 05 Mar 2019 16:44:13
Alf a lot have just stepped up this year and a few more to come, Kamwa and Kenneh spring to mind. Think in a couple of years we will have some serious talent knocking on the first team door. A few already been through it this year in Halme, Shacks, Gotts and let's not forget the likes of Coyle, Pearce out on loan. If we can do what we need to do this season i have no doubt we will compete in the premiership over the coming years.

5.) 05 Mar 2019 21:03:50
BIGE, a question . You’ve been following the under 23s for a long time? How do you think this current group of players compares with groups from the past? Is it collectively stronger?

6.) 05 Mar 2019 22:51:55
I had big hopes for Izzy after Xmas.
Def been waste of time and money for me so far.

7.) 06 Mar 2019 08:44:32
It was always a big gamble Aus, you never know how a play will recover from an injury like that. He is a bit of an enigma and clearly can now influence under 23 games. But getting into a Championship level game and playing as Bielsa would want him to, not sure that is within his reach this year!

04 Mar 2019 08:13:39
Based on the last 5 games, we've picked up 10 points, wins against swansea, brom, and a draw at boro probably the best results. My predictions for the last 9, not sure what you lot think:
Bristol - Draw
Reading - Win
Blades - Win
Millwall - Win
Brum - Draw
Preston - Draw
Wendies - Win
Wigan - Win
Brentford - Lose
Villa - Draw
Ipswich - Win
Total 22 Points.
Think Norwich will get another 26, and Blades will get 20, saying that I have absolutely no idea, I think it'llbe a case of who slips first. We can't let bristol be a slip, that's probably our hardest game, as blades at home i think our incredule support will carry us again.

1.) 04 Mar 2019 08:46:23
Think blades could be a draw as could Millwall.

2.) 04 Mar 2019 09:04:35
Blades to slip up tonight.
Windies finding some form now. we can beat Bristol as they will be going for win and not packing defence.

3.) 04 Mar 2019 10:52:56
Samo, it's as simple as an average of 2 points per game no matter what way you break it down. I can see any of the top 3 losing at least twice.

4.) 04 Mar 2019 11:20:28
impossible to predict.

who would of called us to lose to a poor qpr then be so good and win against brom.

might as well try and predict my great great great great great gandsons name (I hope it is lukic)

5.) 04 Mar 2019 13:07:58
I looked it up Bermo
His name was Kalvin.

6.) 04 Mar 2019 13:15:09
Yebo Cheeky response 😆.

7.) 04 Mar 2019 13:38:41
Wex, your Maths stacks up. 7 wins, 21 points and we should be there. If we do that, it would need Brom to win 9 of their matches - nah. Sheffield could be messy, due to their game in hand. Come on you Wendies is order of the day.

8.) 04 Mar 2019 13:41:50
I wonder when we last had 20 wins by thìs stage of the season.

9.) 04 Mar 2019 16:46:23
I see what you did there GIW.

10.) 04 Mar 2019 17:24:57
when's he due BW?

11.) 04 Mar 2019 17:46:09

12.) 04 Mar 2019 20:47:37
I can see all wins except the Ipswich match when we field the reserves because the 1st teamers are on holiday with Bielsa after comfortably winning the league. and Ipswich hoping to go to L1 on a high.

13.) 04 Mar 2019 21:06:06
Based on the year so far, I think 1 loss is probably a bit light 2/ 3 more realistic, so the aim has to be to try and minimize the draws.

14.) 04 Mar 2019 21:22:12
Brems, think Kalvin Marcelo ****** sounds quite classy. Might change my name to that!

Can you change your name on here?

ED's help please.

19 Feb 2019 09:32:33
Was a real doubter of roofe under monk and christiansen, I don't want to discuss that paul bloke. But ultimately this season he's been good, bit of a slump of late which isn't ideal but he's had a good year you can't take it away from him. Personally, having forshaw injured was a blessing is disguise, if he'd have played over phillips against swansea I don't think we'd have the 3 points. Might be a similar situation here with roofe. You've got to play brown. Hernandez, brown, klich, kalvin, harrison is a strong midfield, and should support bamford comfortably against bolton at home. Strangely enough, Ii am expecting 3 points after the performance norwich put in against bolton, roofe with 1 in 8, as many others have said, perhaps a blessing in disguise and just the chance the likes of brown and shackleton need to make an impact.

1.) 19 Feb 2019 11:26:03
I think there could be a reason why Bielsa has turned to Shackleton in the last two games as sub rather than Brown. And Bielsa has the added advantage of seeing the day to day training and not just the under 23s.

The advantage of Brown is that he has got the habit of getting goals but also after spending chunks of the game anonymously. Might be worth giving him some match time to see whether it’s his laid back style or the fact he has just been building up fitness in the under 23s. Seems to me if you play him, you do have to have some strong tacklers and hard workers around him.

2.) 19 Feb 2019 12:25:46
Brown needs to come off the bench first before making it into a starting eleven.

06 Feb 2019 09:46:55
Will never happen but my Saturday Team:

Kiko, Shack, Jansson, Cooper, Douglas, Kalv, Pablo (from the right) Klich, Brown, Alioski, Bamford.

Options from the bench being roberts, forshaw, roofe, clarke, ayling, berardi, BPF, to me is a very strong team.

1.) 06 Feb 2019 12:47:45
Samo No Halme?

04 Feb 2019 08:19:04
I'm sure a few of you will remember me, I used to write a novel for each post. Not been posting for a while as I've not been convinced since probably the villa game. With the exception of derby I don't recall a good performance. Coincidentally since that villa game we haven't had pontus coops and kalv in the same team. I feel like against the teams like stoke, derby away, norwich away, this was the reason for our success. Kalv just did the basics of a holding midfielder, think forshaw likes to prove how fit he is and how much he can run, but he has no end product. IMO Norwich deserved the 3 points and Farke had them set up brilliantly to beat us on our own turf. I'd love to see brown as we all would, even if its from the bench. He's had more games that douglas and bamford for 23's now so should be ready for boro if not swansea. Don't think roberts or pablo should have been axed. MOT its going to be a long run in.

1.) 04 Feb 2019 09:35:14
I agree Samo, that KP has given the team defensive cover and made us more difficult to score against. I have never felt that we are a major force going forward but the ability to stay in games allowed us to miss a few chances and still win. Now we are having to score at least 2 to 3 goals to have a chance of winning. We need to go back to basics. Forshaw can be effective further forward in midfield because he does have a good engine and is a good passer when he keeps it simple. Unfortunately, if Pablo is not on his game we tend to struggle against teams that put numbers behind the ball. Browne could be that player we need in the No 10 position but Bielsa seems reluctant to use him and going on previous soundbites, Browne probably has to play another 3 games for the U23s before being considered for the bench. For me that is 3 games too much.

2.) 04 Feb 2019 09:46:48
We lack wingers who can beat the defenders and put in balls that create difficulties for the defence. We lack a good number 10 as back up for Hernandez. Harrison is not good enough, Roberts is neat and tidy but lacks that killer pass and doesn't create opportunities. ( he has potential) . It was noticeable with Harrison and Roberts starting and Hernandez off his game we struggled. I was not a great supporter of Phillips last season but he's been a different player this year even if he is still reckless at times. We missed him against Norwich who were the better team on the day.

3.) 04 Feb 2019 10:36:04
I also agree Samo- apols, as you may see if it gets past the Ends, I was so busy writing my own novel that I did not see your post go up.

KP simply has to start at DM. And yes Notts, Forshaw could be moved forward, to a role he has played effectively elsewhere, including for Boro.

Fingers crossed Pablo is fully fit. I'd also be very happy to see Brown on the bench against Boro. Bub did suggest they would review the number of games he felt he needed in tihe U23s, and given our struggles up front, surely even Bub can be flexible enough to add him to the bench options at his disposal. Would be great to see him tearing Ayala to shreds for at least the last 25 minutes- maybe inducing a penalty for Bamford to score as the first of a rapid fire hatrick-well we can dream.

Wouldn't say impossible. 3-5-2

BPF, Jansson, Phillips, Cooper, Shackleton, Klich, Forshaw, Douglas, Hernandez, Saiz, Roofe?

genuinely rather keep the boy tyler in than bring back roofe, saying that seeing Roberts score will push him, and Roberts could even replace alioski on the wing. Harrison will be very hard to dislodge from this team now.

Dallas leading the line, I mean he runs like a dog after a ball, he's not got a bad shot, but he'd get sucked into the midfield battle too much. no promotion winning team uses last seasons reserve RB/ LB as a striker. Roberts now next in line for me, alioski is even a better hout, izzy brown has also played there.

Very bold, but a part of me agrees totally, give it 2 games where roofe doesn't score, bamford will be in. Personally think he might even start v milwall as he's got a bigger presence, roofe works so much harder and its commendable, but against boro bamford should have started, would have been hungrier to prove a point to pulis, would have loved to have 1 over on his old team mates, and has height but is still mobile, could have proved the difference. Begging for bamford to come good.

In terms of cover for KP, Forshaw is now back when the international break is done, and izzy brown also back so if needs be klich or baker can sit deeper to fill that role. KP needs bigger performances against team like wall or he will be dropped, saw that against Bolton when he was brought off that bielsa isn't afraid.

Was just coming on to ask if anybody thought roofe would find it coming back in the team but to be honest, I could see alioski being the man to be dropped and Roberts being stuck out wide. Really is starting to look a good piece of business. 5 goals including pre season so far, effectively won us 6 points so far as his goals killed off preston and won it for us last night. think roofe will have a task, anyone feeling worried for bamford?

People favour boro and brom because they don't play nice football and have more prem quality than us. I think bielsa came here to win the league, the only other manager in the league with that sort of attitude for me is pulis. 22 points from 11 games is phenomenal, why are we complaining? roofe and Hernandez will fix any errors people are discussing, we will keep brentford out as jansson and cooper are playing exceptionally, i'm not worried I agree with Spanish. some fans on here only seem to be happy when its 100% win ratio, we won last night, i'm not bothered about a few off performances personally as they are not our most crucial players, you can expect an attacking quartet of Hernandez, saiz, brown, roofe as the eason goes on, 1 of these 4 is currently starting games, and will improve when the quality around him improves. you've then still god bamford, Roberts, Clarke, edmondson, dallas, alioski, Harrison, baker, who could all play there, what's the worry boys, keep positive.

ALAW I agree with your post, Alioski hasn't been excellent, saying that 3 goals and 2 assist from 8 games is good in this team. He's been fortunate with injuries though because I think if roofe was fit Roberts would have replaced alioski on the left by now, similarly, I think Harrison is streets ahead of alioski therefore when Hernandez is back alioski will drop down the pecking order.

Alioski got 2 in 2 over the break too. Whos stopping us? only club side that's players scored more goals over the break was madrid.
