Rumours aren't that Chris wood has signed for Burnley for £15m. Good news is, Christiansen has reinvested this in a new jacuzzi and gym, and is putting his boots back on and playing as a player manager.

The latest news of mid week: FROM I understand saiz is all but done, a real talent, fee reportedly £3.1m. Alioski has gone quiet, there were rumours linking him with fiorentina late last week, this may Have cost us? Felix Wiedewald is a new one. Goalkeeper from werder bremen in bundesliga. SImilar level to green with space to grow at 27. 500K fee agreed allegedly. Mario Pasalic the latest. Only a loan signing from Chelsea but previously at AC Milan and wanted by Valencia, could be a talent for us if we get him in. Plays attacking midfield or on the wing Durnisi from the Spanish first division is a left back we're looking at to replace Taylor. Highly rated and potentially expensive at £5m. Wanted by Liverpool but he may choose us for game time? Who knows. THE thing I like about it all most is that there is ambition in the signings and we aren't selling to be able to fund purchase. This to me suggests we have money and TC will complete most of his ins before players leave us. Good to have an abundance rather than a shortage.

good summary Samo and I agree with you - exciting times and definitely trying to sign quality rather than rubbish.

2.) 28 Jun 2017 13:30:46
With abundance comes a wage bill. Always nice to have depth and options but I am always cautious following our previous demise and financial issues - like the ambition but really hope it's all for a longer term goal and not a fast buck. Also hope that we can continue to support it as the promising youngsters start demanding more! You can only have 11 on the field and the rest can't all sit on the bench! That all sounds negative and probably is but only because I don't want us scratching around for players and wages to pay them if it all goes belly up😁 I am really excited about some of the players coming in, but yet again we don't seem to be looking at back - where we really do need to invest for depth. Early days and looking forward to see what pans out👍🏻👍🏻MOT

So the new mans in and his targets are being made clear already. Mateusz Klich - central mid. £2m bid suggested after having initial £1.5m rejected. Alioski- Right wing/Striker. £2.6m bid lodged waiting for a response. Prolific last season scoring 17 goals and 14 assists in Swiss league. I like the sound of this one but what happens with roofe and sacko. Samu Saiz - striker/ attacking mid. 12 goals and 8 assists in second Spanish division last season. Eibar have made a bid but we're looking to steal for £3m. Similar player to pablo but about 8 wars younger. Also been rumoured by the sun and Steve Evans that Leeds have about £20m budget for this summer to rediscover a promotion bid. Probably false as we'd need to buy the stadium first and rads has discussed this. However he may be making a gamble on security of promotion this season to fund a development of ER next year. Thoughts about this?

TC prefers a 433 formation and with Roofe able to play LW and ST it could actually help him, Roofe-Wood-Alioski, that said I would rather bring in a LW as I don't think Roofe will score enough (perfect time to bring Mad Max back) .

Sacko would take a hit but it might do him good to have someone like Alioski to learn from and compete with for that place. The strange one for me is Saiz, I don't see how Hernandez fits into a 433 as is so why bring in a similar player. £20m might not be far off the mark, we expect to get £5m for Taylor, would expect to pick up a couple more mill from clearing out some of the unwanted players, talk of another £5m if schmeichel swaps clubs, running costs are down, ticket sales up, etc.

As for ER it doesn't count towards FFP and Rad is wealthy enough to buy it back (a loan from his personal account to his business account that will then be paid back over time if I had to guess) .

2.) 21 Jun 2017 18:54:51
It all sounds exciting doesn't it

3.) 21 Jun 2017 21:31:29
Does that £20m include the £5m for Sacko and Pontus?

4.) 21 Jun 2017 22:14:09
Or is it smoke and cloaks to throw you off the scent? Best register a sitting with mystic meg ;)

5.) 22 Jun 2017 00:16:17
Yes I believe it does but that should be made up like it's been said before through Taylor, players like Erwin, bellusci, silvestri all leaving. I'd also expect to see a big bid for wood in the coming days ladies and gents. He's happy here so serious money would have to turn his head, off knows though may still be banging them in and all of a sudden he's got 15 by January and £20m steals him. let's hope not but that's a huge amount. Similarly he may only get 10 all season, hence the purpose for signing some new talent and getting rid of the likes of antonsson or possibly douk? Pre-season to start Monday with a few arriving late, but it'll be interesting to see who comes and goes

6.) 22 Jun 2017 09:11:47
Wow no way I didn't expect Chris wood to attract attention :o but it's ok he's happy here so when a premiership team comes knocking he will say no I'm happy at Leeds lol stop kidding yourself, Chris wood will be wanted by quite a few teams and he will leave if he gets a chance of playing in the premiership whether that's at Southampton or Huddersfield he won't care because right now they are all better than Leeds united.

13 Jun 2017 11:31:29
Question for you all regarding antonsson. Do we sell him? I know he was given around 10/12 games to show his worth last year and £1.2m isn't cheap, but if we were to sell him he'd go for roughly the same I think. My fear is that he signs for somebody like Cardiff, Bristol, Forrest, for cheap, then scores 20 odd goals because they give him a chance, would this be something you'd regret?

I think we wait until the manager comes in, let him chat to the players, see what they're made off, spend Pre-season shuffling about and then decide on who to sell, perhaps even leave it until January?

I know he didn't prove his worth but he showed glimpses in my opinion, his record in the Swedish league was good but if he needs to compete we need to start seeing it. Would you hold on to him or would he be one of your first out the door?

Samowhite5

1.) 13 Jun 2017 12:00:09
I don't think he was given a fair shot last season at all, I'd Definately give him another season.

He should be settled in and a full pre-season with the squad could open new doors for him.

Never understood why when we was struggling for goals we never looked towards Antonsson or even tried one of the academy lass (baring Sutton of course) .

Certainly for the money we paid I'd give him another chance, a different manager might see what Monk didn't.

We weren't the only team interested in him by far when we signed him so we should give him another try.

2.) 14 Jun 2017 12:26:21
New on here, yes we need new manager asap.but sick of hearing we've missed out on this or that player.Says Who.new boss might not won't any of the players Phil Hay,wants.

Jaap STAM by 5/2 suggests to me he's been interviewed. Good links with good teams but not a person I'd Be keen on

Samowhite5

1.) 09 Jun 2017 12:39:21
why would he leave Reading for us anyway? what would he gain?

2.) 09 Jun 2017 13:08:22
Bigger fan base, bigger stadium, better quality of players, better scouting network.

3.) 09 Jun 2017 13:36:40
Bigger fan base yes, stadium is bigger (but there's is better) , scouting about the same I'd say, quality of players? well they finished third so that is open for debate, granted the mule like manager didn't help us last year, but still!

4.) 09 Jun 2017 14:03:44
Jaap Stam would probably be a good choice, but then there's that Man Utd link!

5.) 09 Jun 2017 14:07:54
If we are so much better than Reading, how come they made the play-offs and we didn't. Meanwhile back on planet Earth!

6.) 10 Jun 2017 11:33:44
You all saw why we didn't make the play offs and we all put it on one mans head. If these great defenders in Hanson and Bartley were so great we'd have seen out the season properly, wood carried on scoring fair enough, but tactically we were poor, that's why we didn't make the play offs. STAM wouldn't let that happen to us, but I'm still not sure I want him. Phil Parkinson for me

7.) 10 Jun 2017 18:54:53
Johnny Giles had a link to that shower too

Team and prediction then: 1-1, a lot of people will be saying monk will thrash us. TC has had time, like he did in pre season, to regroup his ideas and thoughts. We had games coming thick and fast and we started to lose track and got a bit caught up. Monk will have already had the same plan in his head for 2 weeks about how he wants to play and the team he wants to play, i think at leeds at the minute anybody but saiz and vieira could play on sunday. 1-1 because i think we will improve and show a very good performance, but this team was always the favourite with monk as boss so no 3 points for either side. we have improved since monk left in many areas, but our defence isn't as strong. Wiedewald (no cup game for a long time, may be costly) ayling (had a rest should be ready) jansson, cooper (feel as though shaugnessy deserves it but too young for the bigger games) Anita. vieira, phillips (o'kane poor of late) , dallas, saiz, hernandez, lasogga.

1.) 15 Nov 2017 13:16:43
Sorta get that samo. let's hope you are right.

2.) 15 Nov 2017 13:43:03
Last time we came back from an international break we looked leggy, suggesting that too much time was spent in the gym. Reading reports that TC has been running double training sessions, hopefully not in the gym again.

3.) 15 Nov 2017 15:28:43
We are doomed!

10 Nov 2017 08:12:44
I'd like to know your January targets to strengthen the squad. I think Christiansen has a good 11/12 players, these being Lonergan, Ayling, Jansson, Shaugnessy, Berardi, Phillips, Vieira, Anita, Saiz, Dallas, Hernandez, Lasogga. IMO these players, on top form, could make top 6. However my issue is that the likes of villa, wednesday, wolves, boro, all have strength in depth and about 3/4 substitute players of a similar quality who could easily do a job if pulled in to the starting 11. In recent years i look at teams who have done well in being promoted and why they have done so. Huddersfield had Mooy, Newcastle, Shelvey, Villa have Hourihane, Bournemouth had arter, Burnley had Hendrick. These are all box to box central midfielders who could do a job defending, breaking up play, spreading a pass and moving forward. that's one thing kalvin is missing from his game, he's a tough tackler, he works hard, but his end product isn't up to standard yet. Partnering him with an experienced player and playing a 4 in midfield would do wonders for us. To me the team we could see as a realistic one come end of the season/next year, regardless of our league position is: Ward (ex huddersfield, liverpool keeper) , Ayling, Jansson, Shaugnessy, (left back open for discussion, Henry from walsall looks good, Ralls whos at rangers on loan from cardiff is also an option for us, very attacking player and strong in the challenge, does remind me of taylor) . 4 in midfield with dallas on the left, phillips/vieira/woods (take your pick) as the two in central midfield, and a new lad on the right, alioski, roofe, or sacko don't cut it for me and i feel this is a key area to strengthen. Players like Jordan Ibe, Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, maybe even adomah from boro? saiz as a number 10 then ings/vibe/reid could all be starters too up the top end. We need a big, and very constructive january to get this show in the road again. Key that we buy right and really invest. Proven recently that investment has gotten stronger teams results. We have a platform to go off in Saiz, Jansson, Shaugnessy, Ayling, Vieira, Phillips, Dallas, but we need a bit more of a threat, currently i would look at our team and as opposition would only feel a threat coming from saiz or lasogga, more of this threat please.

1.) 10 Nov 2017 08:45:55
Rico Henry is a decent left back but he left Walsall to sign for Brentford in the summer I think so can't see them letting him go so soon. Not seen the Cardiff kid play so can't comment on him. Agree with you on the areas we need to strengthen though but will be interesting to see who is available and whether we make any moves in or out.

2.) 10 Nov 2017 11:10:21
Charlie Adam?

3.) 10 Nov 2017 13:05:24
Someone to replace Victor Orta as DOF. Someone British based and oriented. Harry Redknapp? He likes a deal. Actually Harry makes me want to throw up so anyone else got suggestions to make?

4.) 10 Nov 2017 18:34:47
I watched the 2 v 1 and 0 v 1 wins over Leicester and Bournemouth in 1990 on You Tube last night. Like a bit of nostalgia etc. Both hard fought matches. Vinnie and Kamara played in both, alongside the likes of Beglin and Strachan. Rough and smooth. And we went up.

5.) 10 Nov 2017 18:45:08
I HATE Redknapp with a passion! Anyway he gets a nosebleed when he comes North of Birmingham, so there's no chance.

6.) 11 Nov 2017 00:17:52
I could do it I'm cheap and I have the gift

7.) 11 Nov 2017 14:48:00
O'Leary been invited back to ER "to take in a few games" by AR, maybe wants his advice on players? Or help for Orta or even a potential director of football role? Thoughts anyone!

8.) 11 Nov 2017 16:48:13
Wouldn't mind him as Director of Football or should that be Manager in Waiting?

9.) 13 Nov 2017 10:46:46
I'd rather see Vinnie Jones invited to "take in a few games" and give a little inspirational speech before the game . and then be waiting in the dressing room at half-time to remind them all what he said :)

07 Nov 2017 14:48:38
If Ekuban doesn't come good we are doomed. I don't rate Grot, i like lasogga but we need more from him, and cibicki was a waste. We need a george boyd/snodgrass type winger on one side, and a max gradel/roofe on the other. i like dallas and think he could be a great asset towards the back end of the season. Okane is not for me, too much of a sideways passer at the minute, i remember the burton game he absolutely steam rolled that midfield and everything went through him, when he came off we went flat, but now were flat with him there. Loving how phillips and cooper have stepped up, and vieira still a great asset and a must starter. Cooper i think will stay at this level, but philips is an unknown quantity for me, who knows where he could end up, i think he's a proven performer in this leage now though. Ayling, Jansson, Anita, Saiz, Hernandez all PL quality imo, on their day. Similarly, the team on its day, when on song and tails are up, is a top 6 contender in this league, along with wolves, boro, the blades, villa and derby. I am not writing off christiansen and he may have been a hero when he took us to the top, but he also gave us our worst record in years. Karanka would do a job in this team now, but i'm not sure if radz is prepared to axe TC just yet. The next 2 games are all he has left to turn this around. Our biggest test yet. Alioski should be better by now, WE need a keeper, fact, i really like shaugnessy and beradi and anita and feel for the amount of chances they've all had. CBJ a good asset and a shame he's not ours permanently, and pennington for me a let down so far. Targets: Ledley, Reid, Bartley, Kirchoff, Pope. All realistic IMO and heres how i see us lining up with these players in the side. 4231. Pope, Kirchoff, Jansson, Bartley, Ayling, Ledley, Kirchoff, Vieira Dallas, Saiz, reid, Ekuban.

Samowhite5

1.) 07 Nov 2017 15:31:17
That's the Kirchoff twins I take it

2.) 07 Nov 2017 16:06:55
Phillips lacks consistency a discipline. He has been playing as a number 10 but spends most of the game stood next to Lassoga. Cooper is reckless and could have easily been sent off again against Brentford. As for Roofe, waste of £3m. However I will have a pint of whatever you are drinking Samo

3.) 07 Nov 2017 17:11:49
I hope to God that Ekuban comes back with a goal a game, playing like Messi. The weight of expectation on the poor lads shoulders must be enormous. Let's hope he doesn't read any forum pages.

4.) 07 Nov 2017 17:27:01
Ledley was shocking when he played against us for Derby. Both him and Huddlestone ran like they were in sand.

5.) 07 Nov 2017 20:58:25
I thought the same Leodis, everyone banging on about Ekuban like he's the saviour - the poor lad hasn't even played a league game yet! He looked ok in a league cup game against a poor Port Vale side - no pressure kid! 😂

6.) 09 Nov 2017 10:40:20
Bartley who signed a new contract and was starting for a perm team before getting injured, ayling isn't a left back, pope starting for Burnley and getting huge applauds from pundits won't be dropping a tier any time soon. Ledley is just awful much worse than what we already have.

30 Oct 2017 08:12:57
SAMO'S NOVEL 3.0 IS HERE! Who else is unhappy with the performances of late? Again this weekend was a tale of score first and win, concede first and lose. i'm not sure what this stigma is, and we seem to be much better on the road this season, which i don't understand why, but the only convincing home performance has been burton. A lot of teams are seeming to win on the road this season, so we need to crank up the pressure on home form. I still stand by the fact that Phillips is growing into one of the better and more crucial players in the squad. he's that combative forward thinking midfielder that we have needed for a long time. With this season under his belt he will come very good for us, regardless of the league. I think ronaldo is one that has to be maintained well, this run in the first team will do him some good, but we depended on him too much last year and that cost us. I love him but we need to see more from the 3 combined in the middle of the park. When was the last time we played the same back four and goalkeeper 2 games in a row? This makes me wonder if TC is just axing individuals to try and cover his arse about a previous defeat. The team needs to gel and we need a confirmed starting 11 with 2/3 fringe/impact players, currently we have 18 players fighting for the first 11. This is forcing us into an unknown potential as we are unaware of our best team. We need to stick to the same team and field the best players each week to get good form out of them. When we started with the same team, players like roofe starting, we won games consecutively. Friday was poor, and I think these bad results are damaging morale. Look at when we beat sunderland, forrest, bolton, all on the road, there was a time where we didn't concede for 6 hours or something ridiculous. I think 2 changes need to be made tomorrow. Last seasons hero pontus recalled and we need a huge performance from him, ayling and cooper need to step up. And hernandez back in the side. The team for me: Lonergan, Ayling, Jansson, Coops, Anita, Okane, Vieira, Phillips (NO 10 role) Saiz (right) Hernandez (left) Lasogga. Would like to see roofe and alioski on if its not working, but IMO based on performances and match ratings, this is the best 11 we have, play them and drill it into them that that place could be theirs if they grind out results tomorrow and saturday. i'm ready for thechallenge of november an di think teams will be forgetting what capabilities we have shown already. Nobody should write us off until january, this is always a big month, and so crucial for us this time round. MOT

1.) 30 Oct 2017 15:55:47
I agree about picking his best eleven and sticking with them, I feel TC is picking teams with the oppsition in mind. Pick the best 11 and let the opposition worry about us.

26 Oct 2017 09:34:00
The day before the fiasco and i'm right up for this one. I can see it going either way and there being a heavy dependandancy on whos more up for it on the night. I'll start my rant with my 11 for the game. Lonergan, no complaints there, a clean sheet away from home and a good performance at burnley wins him the spot. Secondly, the defence. For me you've got to start ayling, cooper, and then the other one is a toss up. Remember the strat of the season when we were crying for a CB, turns out cooper was that man. Based on recent form, I'd go with Shaun as i like the look of him, but tactically I'd choose Penns, he's played in 2 merseyside derbys so he knows what a derby is all about, and scored in one for everton, so this top division experience is the difference for me, on another day, perhaps against a bolton, burton, or any other struggling team, youd give shaun another run, but he also played 90 on tuesday so ill stick with the same back two from the bristol game. LB there's only one choice, I'd say consider dallas but i don't think its necessary to bring him back and anita has had some good games there this year. Ayling, Coops, Penns, Anita. Onto the midfield. i'm going with a 4231 still so maintaining TC's favoured style. holding 2 are obvious for me, ronny and okane the choices. The reason i haven't selected phillips is because he'd be my number 10 oing off last week, the sunderland, and bolton games where he pushed forward and ultimately created chances for goals. he's a local lad and knows the intensity of a derby. so he would be my number 10, despite pablos good game at leicester, that will put him out for a week, unless he comes on in the second half for the lesser performing of the 3 central players. Wingers i would have saiz undoubtedly, i don't need to justify that one. class act at the moment. your other winger is an open one, roofe or alioski to start, not sure which i would choose, i think with united being a tough team and playing 5 at the back, both wingers will have to come inside, and as that's on alioskis stronger foot, that's the only reason he gets the nod for me. they're similar players, other than the fact alioski prefers the ball infront of him to run onto, whereas roofe seems to like it into feet so he can play with it. i'm not sure, what would we all choose? Now if i haven't bored you by this point, and you're still reading, thanks. Lassogga up top. He gets goals, is a physical presence to work from, and is good in the air and with his feet. A bit fo muscle to aim for and a target for the attacking 3. The team does pick itself in many ways after the selection from tuesday, but pablo is close to the first team again after a good performance, and may even start on the right? who knows. i'm going for a 2-1 win, both teams to score early goals and a great game. We need this win more than any other bar cardiff IMO. all 3 points, then w can sit back saturday and watch the others cock up:D i'm far too positive. MOT

1.) 26 Oct 2017 11:38:22
Zzzzzzzz
Have you finished yet? Pont signs new contract and is harder so i'd have him instead of penn! Rest is ok though.

2.) 26 Oct 2017 12:21:32
Why will tomorrow be a fiasco ? Why change the formation that won against an in form Bristol team ?

3.) 26 Oct 2017 12:33:53
never a straight forward derby is there? I feel as though they'll look to force samu out of the game, TC has to be one step ahead every time if we are to win, we need to catch them off guard and do what we do best, 4231 has proven to be our best formation as we have won more games, but a 433 is also very likely.

4.) 26 Oct 2017 14:36:12
ok so just listened to TC's presser and vieira at lunch and I've been having thoughts, again! brand new formation based on the fact that TC says we may not need another full back to replace berardi and CBJ. This shouts to me, 3 at the back. new 11: lonergan, 3CB's being penn, Jansson/shaugnessy, coops. wing backs in ayling and dallas (very much suited to dallas imo) . 3 CM's in ronny, okane, and phillips, saiz at number 10, then lassoga up top. picture it, it sounds perfect. We have attacking wing backs who can go and support saiz, lassogga and one other cm (assuming this attacking/defensive duty rotates) which makes an attacking 5 and a defensive 5, with the other two midfielders sitting. I really like the sound of this and think it may suit us and compliment 3 people in particular. saiz given a free roam to kill defenders and drift wherever he likes, dallas as he can show both attacking and defensive abilities, he has stamina and pace to burn with a bit of muscle about him, and okane, with the backing of vieira and phillips, to recover if he makes any mistakes, he will be spraying balls up and down those wings and into the feet of saiz. ITS PERFECT. if you ask me, TC needs to try this, and may well be doing so.

5.) 26 Oct 2017 14:56:41
Sami. Let me know when you bring the paperback version out 😁

6.) 26 Oct 2017 15:10:01
I brought speedy back ladies and gents that's all I'll say:D

7.) 26 Oct 2017 15:34:27
Great logic to use 4-2-3-1 Samo because we have won the most games playing that system. We have also lost the most games playing that system, because that is the system we have played in all but one game. Currently 100% record using 4-3-3.

8.) 26 Oct 2017 15:37:49
Samo, I get accused of being "overly wordy at times". I like you, you make me look concise. That said, the rational behind your suggestions seem solid enough to me.

9.) 26 Oct 2017 15:55:02
Thanks for the spoiler Samo! I don't need to watch the match now! 😅
Are you posting from 'inside' Speedy? Just a conspiracy theory as BW has disappeared and you haven't been on for a while. I thought you may have got sick of the S&M and done him in! 😉

11.) 26 Oct 2017 18:24:06
Very good George? I see what did there! 😁

12.) 27 Oct 2017 00:11:33
Welcome to new poster george! Maybe bw has jumped ship and run off with odea? Think i'd play shaun and pont than penn samo. Just saw the berahdi sending off. can't believe taylor got his red card squashed. A nothing foul and he runs at berahdi like a madman. Berahdi had no choice but to stand tall.

Completely agree, 3 more and if they're all defeats its bye bye. 3 wins and its slump over and back to business, and anywhere between 4-7 points and ill be a little happier. Radz told him play offs, we are not in the play offs, if we are not by christmas, you can say bye bye to TC. I used to be passionate about him and really have a positive menality, but recently his inability to change things (other than bristol) has cost us. sort it out TC

I'd like to see the money spent for the sake of the fans, because I'd like somebody proven. But similarly performances of late are making me think we don't need to worry about a new striker. I think we'll regret it though if the goals dry up and we don't have an out and out number 9

Roofe will become number 9 for now and grot and someone else will come in to compete with ekuban, 4 strikers of similar quality, all with different attributes

I like that but think a 4-4-1-1 would be better suited. Saiz at number 10, and hernandez for alioski. Roofe up front would be good to see though, i hope he and dallas start tonight

ok so just listened to TC's presser and vieira at lunch and I've been having thoughts, again! brand new formation based on the fact that TC says we may not need another full back to replace berardi and CBJ. ITS PERFECT. if you ask me, TC needs to try this, and may well be doing so.

never a straight forward derby is there? I feel as though they'll look to force samu out of the game, TC has to be one step ahead every time if we are to win, we need to catch them off guard and do what we do best, 4231 has proven to be our best formation as we have won more games, but a 433 is also very likely.
