Read Danny Mills reason for Pontus leaving. Its what club told him. Pontus wanted more time off for holiday Bielsa said no. If the boss says i want you back at work you go back to work. Not sure what position is with Unions and players holidays but we know Bub has a strict code he adheres to and so did Pontus. All a bit childish in my eyes but in any job there is a pecking order.

1.) 09 Jul 2019 21:40:12
It's all been badly handled in George opinion. If he wanted more time off, why was he training at all with Malmo? Why not fine the player for employee breach? Was it lucky timing then that the 🐝 came in with an offer? This has been a dispute brewing for some time.

2.) 09 Jul 2019 23:13:43
Agree George think this just helped him on his way. Could have been settled with a fine. Down to Bub this one i think.

06 Jul 2019 23:05:34
Lot of posters turning against Pontus who was a god two weeks ago. Sad to lose him but if he is out of favour and happy to go so be it. What does make me mad is we are selling him to one of our rivals for peanuts. Captained his country and one of the best CBs in the championship and he is only worth 5mill, total joke. Who are we going to replace him with. White may have been able to play alongside Pontus but not with Coops would stand no chance against crosses. Sorry but if we do not get a quality CB in this is a really bad bit of business.

Agree also Wilks going cheap if 1mill is the price. Young talented and if Lowe is worth 2-3 mill he is worth nearer 2mill whatever problems he has in his personal life, they can be sorted, i suppose no one on here got in with the wrong crowd when you were young. Said on an earlier post i was expecting one of Roofe, Pontus or KP to be sold so not too surprised but was expecting Halme to be with us if only for his height
Thing is if we had put a proper valuation on Pontus of at least 10mill it would have made sense but looks like he has gone cheap to get him out of the door.

1.) 07 Jul 2019 02:52:29
Another good post. I believe Pontus was critical of management from the January transfer window and it eventually showed in his attitude. Big boots to fill. Believe we are considering Bielik from the Gooners.

2.) 07 Jul 2019 04:48:41
I agree the price seems cheap (although that will be a profit for us) but it there is bad blood best to get rid rather than upset the depressing room. Rubbish but that’s the modern game. Mate bumped into Orta yesterday and he says we are looking at maybe bringing in 1 more. Didn’t say what position but I can believe a CB.

3.) 07 Jul 2019 04:57:32
Does the magic hat go with the sale? If so that alone has to be worth another 3 mil?

4.) 07 Jul 2019 09:17:36
I actually feel sorry for Pontus and feel some of the criticism on here and elsewhere is undue. The guy obviously got Leeds and fully bought into the fervour of the fans. He obviously also drank in the love for him from the fans and gained energy from this - presumably partly because he had been such a peripheral figure in the latter part of his last season at his beloved Malmo and during his one and a half seasons at Torino.

Whether his exclusion from the team in the playoff semi-final games was down to his reaction to the Villa goal or not who knows, but he was clearly wounded by this, particularly for the game at Elland Road, and especially following what transpired. He had probably dreamed (literally) of scoring the winning goal against Villa in the final - and why not, 'cos he almost always scored against Villa. He would probably have sweated blood in that game to have endured we got to Wembley. But yet he didn't even get on the pitch, and had to watch on with the fans as most of those picked fell apart and surrendered meekly to the loathed Fat Frank and his (former) team - including that wan**er Keogh who played a key role - being allowed to dominate in both boxes.

It's fairly easy to imagine how upset Pontus felt at all this - not just for himself, but for the fans - without seeing the pictures of him slumped alone at the side of the pitch. People criticise him for not being with the rest of the squad to console them etc. But having seen his and our dreams lost in such pathetic fashion, particularly with such mistakes made by the player specifically picked ahead of him, I can understand why he felt the need to be alone with his thoughts.

I can also imagine that there may be concerns over whether with such hurt and disappoinment he can fully reconcile himself with the management and some of his teammates at Leeds, and that is felt best for there to be a parting of the ways.

I don't for one moment think he actually wants to go to a Brentford, but that may currently be his only choice. As for the magic hat - of course it shouldn't be included in the sale, but rather be an exhibit in the Leeds United Museum. Thanks for the memories Pontus.

5.) 07 Jul 2019 10:33:05
The question is has he asked to leave is MB had enough, don't know what's gone on behind closed doors, sorry but 5.5 mill won't get us a dive 1 defender good enough, personally club should of tried to work it out, think he is no more than a lower level premier player at best, but will be a big loss if not replaced,

6.) 07 Jul 2019 11:56:03
IF the situation has broken down irretrevably the so be it. My one thought on this is that the bosses word is final however if you cannot harvest such passion (which often comes with a hot head and a fiery tongue) you are in danger in fielding a team with no passion. A team with no (controlled) aggression and ultimately a team with no stand up and be counted leaders. A team of yes men. Quite rightly if he is a cancer in the dressing room then he should be removed however a, good, manager should not let it get to that. If the situation had been simmering for some while then it beggars belief why we let Halme go? Surely his height would have been invaluable in times of need if we were to go 5 across the back. Still there is time, out there somewhere must be a Pontus clone to instill grit in the back line.

7.) 07 Jul 2019 13:28:03
Tellingly after the direby he said he’d only leave if Leeds sold him

So I suspect things were brewing

Our new style left him exposed at time but he’s better than the current level we play at

In that mad 20 mins vs the sheep we needed a leader or two. I don’t think it’s in his character to be that

Nor do we seem able to sign one

Good technical players only get to play if someone is getting their nose dirty

Which leads me on to Vinne. So sorry for his loss.

8.) 07 Jul 2019 17:32:52
He’s a character, not a leader. Love him, but you can’t have a disruptive influence in the squad.

01 Jul 2019 11:12:01
Papers still talking about QSI investment in Leeds. They want minor investment with option to buy for 75mill. Would be profit for Radz but think he may want more if we get in PL. One that will drag on.

1.) 01 Jul 2019 12:27:24
Interesting that that report mentioned that they thought that Leeds are a well run club on and off the pitch!

2.) 01 Jul 2019 13:00:18
Well we all know it it is financially sound and interacts well with the community. Getting there with playing staff and coaches top class. Think that part of it is evident for all to see.

31 May 2019 12:10:16
Ekuban gone, first million into the transfer kitty.

1.) 31 May 2019 15:31:01
Check its just not a bag of shiny beads!

2.) 31 May 2019 16:27:38
Euros though not pounds.

3.) 31 May 2019 20:48:30
As long as it’s not Turkish lira.

23 May 2019 22:45:14
Looks like Cellino coming for Berardi to take him back to Brescia now they have been promoted. Be nice for him to finish off at his old club.

1.) 24 May 2019 10:18:35
I would miss the guy as I believe he geneuinely loves this club and he ALWAYS gives 200%
He plays with heart and soul, yes he has a mean streak but don't we love that being Leeds?
ALL players are prone to mistakes, even prem players on 200k a week do!

2.) 24 May 2019 19:32:16
Agree with most of that Jay, but he is a liability. When he got sent off against Derby we were back on top and looked like going on to win, it was crucial. He has served the Club well, but for me, it is probably time for him to move on.

3.) 25 May 2019 16:55:24
I’d hate to see Berra go anywhere! Every team needs a player like him in my opinion, and he has controlled himself much better under Bielsa. He was great in the first play off, and in my view hard done by in the second. Hope he stays! Plus Josh Warrington would be gutted too!

Just watched new kit unveiling, like the Blue one that will be my match day one. Home kit okay but not impressed with the platinum colour. Badge okay as well.

1.) 09 Jul 2019 18:14:34
Think they look great.
Thumbs up. 👍👍👍

2.) 09 Jul 2019 18:22:56
love the kit and notice they have roofe, aling, BPF and coops in it. no kp could he be going and roofe staying?

3.) 09 Jul 2019 18:26:39
Like the home shirt. TBH I think the badge spoils it, too elaborate?

4.) 09 Jul 2019 18:36:19
Looks like the blue one is the keepers. I wonder if we're going for yellow again for the away kit?

08 Jul 2019 18:21:37
Just read KP rejected first new contract offer. Word is he wants parity with Kiko and Bamford, our two underachievers last season. That should have been the opening offer if we are serious about keeping him. You may be right George. Looks like new contract offer is just a smokescreen.

1.) 08 Jul 2019 18:25:55
Of course it's a smoke screen #we did all we could to keep him but he wanted to go.

2.) 08 Jul 2019 19:00:27
100% agree lads. Think Radz is already making room in his vault for Phillips transfer money.

3.) 08 Jul 2019 19:46:19
Is rads lining his pockets before he sells up or do players transfer fees have to go back into the club?

4.) 08 Jul 2019 21:50:10
Brum Chairman ownership rule 101 is that Radz gets paid for his efforts. Where else do you think his pay is coming from, if not the club?

07 Jul 2019 13:45:22
Sorry but back to FFP rules.
Clubs can have an operating loss of 5mill per year. This can go up to 13mill a year if owners willing to bridge the gap, ie guarantee losses.
Last year we had an initial loss of 20.7mill, a figuure which means nothing really as it is not a final figure. Sales of players etc. brought that figure down to 4.3mill.
Total deficit for three seasons together, 2 Cellino and 1 Radz was 12.2mill which meant if we went up we could have paid the 18mill bonuses that were due and still be within FFP rules.
We are now into the next three year cycle which sees us carrying 3.3mil deficit. Last season we will have made a slightly higher loss due to wages. However this will be offset by sales. And by the way that 3.3 mill may be reduced after taking out infrastructure, academy and community costs if we ended up over the limit. Last season will be more or less the same as 2018/ 19 once all the figures are in, maybe a bit more but well within FFP rules.
Our revenue for 2018/ 19 was up 19% due to an increase in matchday and revenue receipts. The 5mill from Wood went straight out by the way on what we owed for transfers. Biggest increase was commercial with a 33% rise.
Costs is the interesting bit for me. Players cost only rose by 3.7mill but was a 42%rise. Wages rose from 20.7mill to 31.4mill a 52% rise. New cost was directors at 212,000 which Cellino did not claim.
We spent 25.6mill on 14 players, namely Foreshaw, Janson, Klich, Sacko, De Bock, Grot, Cibicki, Ekuban, Ideguchi, Halme, Wiedwald, Saiz, Roberts and Alioski. Only three of those left? Well four if you count Foreshaw. This in my eyes is bad business.
Our cash reserves fell from 4mill to 2.9mill also.
In my view Radz will be aiming for a loss of under 5mill so the debt is not passed to him because as i said earlier in my novel we could have spent 18mill on bonuses and still be within FFP rules 2018/ 19.so we could have spent that in this window. Radz choice not to nothing to do with FFP rules sorry to say.

1.) 07 Jul 2019 13:56:12
Yep - I've been beating this drum for weeks pal.

2.) 07 Jul 2019 13:59:14
Best explanation I have seen on here bielsabud! Thanks for the reasearch. Think Radz could possible sell and move on after this season.

3.) 07 Jul 2019 14:16:45
Thats why i expect Roofe is going, if forecast is 25mill loss, Clarke8 + Pontus5 + roofe5 plus Wilks Ekuban and Halme brings in just over 20mill to my reckoning.

4.) 07 Jul 2019 14:25:46
Great info bud 👍.

5.) 07 Jul 2019 14:31:42
Cracking post. Hopefully people will get up from under radz desk and smell the pasta.

6.) 08 Jul 2019 05:35:32

. and when we get up from under Radz's desk, what are we supposed to be doing?

I keep hearing how Radz is not a nice fella etc. But what is your (and a few others) point?

Radz bashing has been going on for a while now but you seem to think I support Leeds United for the chairmanship. How weird. I support Leeds United for the 11 players who have stepped over the whitewash and are lucky enough to wear the white shirt I adore.

I don't support the subs bench
I don't support the manager (as good as he is)
I don't support the tea ladies

I just support Leeds United Football Club

Do you believe Liverpool fans support Fenway Sports. God no. They support LFC. They won the Champions League, not some boardroom.

Unless you are some secret multi billionaire, you can not affect anything you talk guys about. However your show of support in the stands CAN affect the 11 players on the park. You can be the 12th man, or you can be a professional moaner. Your choice.

03 Jul 2019 23:35:24
Alex Purver signed for Ostersunds in Swiss pl. Was going to start that sentence with young but he is 23 now. Remember watching him in U23s and he looked a talented young lad but lost his way a bit. Good to see him on up and up again.

01 Jul 2019 10:55:41
Well it looks like the ball is rolling. White and Harrison had their medicals and Costa and Mujica due in this week. Costa and Harrison will go straight into first team White should as well as think he is good enough. Mujica i do not know much about but assume he will go into U23s. A couple of other names being bandied about, McCarron, McKinstry. Jc may be back on loan, my thinking is if they are gone they are gone, not sure a loan back will benefit either party.
At least we are moving early although youth seems to be forefront again. Would like another with some experience and grit.

1.) 01 Jul 2019 11:25:43
White and Harrison both announced, good moves both for me. Some more talent coming in for the under 23s but fast track options possible for Mujica and McCarron possibly. J C back for a year makes sense to me, both sides know each other well. He needs a good preseason and to concentrate on the physical side of his development and he still has a lot to prove. He will want to show Spurs what he can do, no brainier really for me in these circumstances.

2.) 01 Jul 2019 12:17:28
Sorry but for me JC would be better staying at his new club, bonding with players and getting to know style of play and improve his fitness. Bubs went for Harrison all season long so i can see games being hard to come by, excellent to have on the bench but so would Shacks Macalmont and Edmonson and Stevens as i can not see 4 youngs ones being on the bench he will be holding some one else back.
He is a talent no doubt and it is good for us to have him in the squad but we know he will be gone next May, not like we have an option to buy. Also the lad will be devastated when he helps us go up then has to back to Spurs.

3.) 01 Jul 2019 13:37:20
I suspect the loan has been done on the basis that he will not get much of a look in at Spurs this season. It is really one for the future. If he is Leeds thru and thru, he has a chance to help take us up. I honestly think it is good discipline for him. I wonder if there is a return clause in the loan. He needs to show what he can do across the season and build up his resilience. Spurs are a top 6 premiership side, he has a lot to do! I think he can make a big contribution for us this year. A lot is expected of Bielsas wingers, he possibly realises now that he needs more options throughout the year!

Think you are right axe if lower PL clubs lose players to the big clubs then they will be raiding the championship for players.

All the club have to do is say not for sale, never mind putting a price on them. Can see Roofe going to be honest, contract seems to have stalled so if a club come in for him think he will be off.

Have always said KP is a very good player but i guess we will sell him eventually and maybe better to get a good price for him now. He has done well at DM but do not think he will improve in that role and not likely to get further upfield here which is where i believe he will play his best football and improve into a top class player.

Agree Spanish Harrison and Costa will have a big part to play as too will White. Hopefully Ayling and Douglas steer clear of any serious injuries this season and hit the form they showed two years ago. On paper it looks a good first team if some one starts putting ball int back of net. Sadly the written word does not always translate to the stage, cue BW, but i reckon we will be in top 6 all season.

Think the division is a bit stronger this season. All teams that have come down are used to the championship and know how to get out of it. Hull and Stoke will have learned from last season and we still have Brom, Middlesborough, Derby who were all challenging and teams like Preston who are slowly progressing. Looking forward to it but do not expect it to be a two horse race. We are capable of finishing in top two if luck is with us but so are about ten other teams. I do know its going to be another rollercoaster season and reckon it will be tight until the end. Onwards and upwards. MOT.

BW i did state in my first post i do not think Radz has improved our club financially, it is on a sound footing but it was when he took over. He has basically used incomings to pay outgoings and is keeping things tight for the next owners.
