Think they will have to reward Liverpool with the PL title as they are so far in front. Then they will have to recognise front runners in championship for promotion. Then its deciding if anyone gets relegated, which i doubt, would cause a lot of problems. So then its working on how they would get the PL back to its normal quota of teams over the next one or two seasons. As i said over a week ago we will follow Germans idea which seems the fairest all round. Reckon all European teams will follow the same pattern.

If there's not enough weeks to complete the full Champ season, perhapwe and Baggies could be promoted with an extended play-off for the third place. If there's three usable weeks, there could be an innovative play-off taking in those within three points of the playoff spots. Baadiff and 'Wall are on 54 points and Blackburn and Swansea on 53. They could play each other, with winners playing again for the right to meet Brizzle (55 points) . The winner of that tie would play Preston, who currently occupy the final play-off spot. You could then have the play-off proper. I can hear a few thinking this will take as long as the remaining fixtures would. But the particularly innovative part could be that rather than playing ties home and away on different days, the clubs involved would be required to pick two matchday squads from first team and academy players, to play at the two grounds on the same day - except for the final, which would be at Wembley as usual. Playing the ties Tuesdays and Saturdays could get the whole thing done in three weeks. Potentially some tasty ties in there, including a South Wales derby, a Harris derby etc. And talking about derbies, it would have the additional attraction of pissing off the team formerly known as Frank Lampard's Derby, as they would be the highest placed team to miss out, being two points further back on 51 points.

As we all know it's all about what effects the premiership that matters, most likely senario is no relegation from prem this year but wouldn't surprise is no promotion or relegation from any of the other leagues down the football pyramid either.

Score predictions for the match against Cardiff? I say 3-0, with a brace for BamBam, and one for White.

If it ever happens.

Damn, there's not even any foreign sport to watch!

Do not see how we will start again to be honest. Virus supposed to peak in end of April early May. Playing through summer will impact start of next season and will mean transfer market is open during season end, many contracts coming to an end. Not looking good as far as finishing the season goes. Think we hit the top at the right time because if the season is ended we are champions. If we were second could see EFL only awarding top spot to go up.

possibility if Baggies were top, but not with us there.

I hope Leeds hierarchy follow Brighton’s lead and make sure they pay ALL Leeds United staff both permanent and casual. Anything short of that is inexcusable.

Just been into Tesco, it was nuts, they had no toilet paper at all. Reluctantly I headed over to the check out and asked if they had any? NO was the firm answer.

Walking back to the toilets with my trousers round my ankles is a walk I hope I never have to do again.

If it's true that you can't catch Corona virus twice and it's fatal to only the elderly and those with underlying health issues, then why not let all professional footballers catch it. They would be slightly ill, then better within a fortnight. They could then play matches behind closed doors and get the season finished. Sounds simple I know, but I can't think why this wouldn't work?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

14 Mar 2020 09:19:45
It's not only the elderly who die. Just the highest percentage. Plus it's the fans, the staff at football grounds and thousands of others in the chain that would also be affected. It's not confirmed yet that you cannot get it twice.

Agree1 Disagree0

14 Mar 2020 14:27:40
Alf. That's why I said play behind closed doors. You could also keep the players together for a couple of weeks. I just think if something like this isn't done, (not just in football but in the population in general) then this thing could go on, and on, and on.

14 Mar 2020 16:15:07
Danum, footballers are people mate, you can't purposely infect them with something that kills 3% of people who get it, just to complete a football season.

14 Mar 2020 19:50:47
Why, how many fit 18 to 35 year olds have died. Healthy people have a cough and a temperature for a couple of days.

If the league is cancelled, The FA rule book states if a team play over 75% (35 games) of its games and the season ends all points remain valid and it can’t be void.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed047's Note - What about the Premiership where that threshold is 28.5 games Alf and some teams have only played 28?

Which includes Aston Villa who are in the bottom 3.

14 Mar 2020 09:20:17
The Premier League? Who cares?

14 Mar 2020 09:43:18
As we know the FA have the power to change rules to suit themselves. The spy gate incident we didn't actually break any rule or law but they made the supposedly crime fit a punishment.

14 Mar 2020 10:28:09
Ed047 wow!
so the timing of cancelling this weekends games looks extremely suspicious now by the PL. because if Villa had played this weekend all teams would have played more than the PL 28.5 game threshold.
. the PL Chairman is a Villa supporter # the PL cancellation timing stinks and went against Government advice too.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - I cant comment on that BV as I had no idea that was the case mate.

14 Mar 2020 11:42:33
Surely it would be taken as a percentage across the league as opposed to looking at individual clubs anyway?

14 Mar 2020 12:04:23
Good point Alf.

14 Mar 2020 10:42:20
Ed - it's to be hoped their would be sufficient time before next season to play the two fixtures necessary to get all Prem team up to 29. One of these is Man City and Arsenal, which could see Arsenal scrape into a Europa League spot. The other would be the rather tasty Aston Villa v Sheffield Utd which Villa would need to win to avoid relegation or should Blades win (and if Man City Euro ban sticks) would see them qualify for Champions League.

Of course they won't do this as FA don't want Villa relegated. I see however that there's some suggestion that Prem teams might actually decide to go down a similar route to that being looked at on Germany, with no relegation but letting us and Baggies be promoted. Teams in play-off places would seem unlikely to take that lying down.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - without the Premiership being resolved, which was my point to Alf, who just dismissed it, Leeds will be going no where mate.

14 Mar 2020 20:16:55
Surely at best no one will come down but two will go up they can’t surely not allow promotion.

15 Mar 2020 09:25:17
