Still think we are the best team in this league but not once have we picked our best team. The Eddie or Bamford argument is for me a non discussion point. Even yesterday Eddie held the ball up better looked more of a goal threat. When drifting wide looked more dangerous than our wingers and also found time to hook ball away from near our own goal. Whether he's better off in a two we don't know because it's never been tried nor has bam as an impact sub. Either way for me Eddie must start. MOT.

You serious?
We controlled the game with Bamford on and dominated but struggled in 2nd half.
May or may not be related but this seems to be a trend.

2.) 27 Oct 2019 12:04:47
But we ain't going to score the goals with Bamford as a lone striker. How many great chances has he wasted. Goals win games not how much possession you have during the game.

3.) 27 Oct 2019 13:41:24
Canada no I don't think the 2 were related yesterday. Feel it was more down to Wednesdays grip over our midfield second half. Not anti Bamford just feel eddie would score more which is what I want from a striker.

4.) 27 Oct 2019 16:30:13
Yes but it's happened 3 or more times now. I'm less likely to believe that the more it happens.
We may find out soon though if Eddie ever gets a start!

5.) 29 Oct 2019 09:34:45
Point is it is no good being in control if you do not score. Rather it be fifty fifty and we win than have 70% AND GET BEAT.

6.) 31 Oct 2019 11:28:30
Bielsabud is right.
Andy, more accurately, our 1 to 8 is the best in the league. Counts for sheet.

7.) 02 Nov 2019 22:05:12
Not sure we ate the best team in the league just yet. It’s very open. There’s no stand out team

We are currently the best defensively

That’s a team thing, not down to individuals but the inclusion of Ben white has made us better against counter attacks. Kiko is much improved

The next issue is converting chances we make

An area to be looked at in January

Think of it as a jigsaw, finished piece by piece

Keep the faith.

I would take promotion by ppg method if season not completed. My fear though is prem not completing their season could see them close ranks and refuse to relegate anyone whilst also refusing to increase number of clubs in prem. Having said all that if able i think we would smash these 9 games with 15 or 16 points needed.

AndyB Wakefield

1.) 21 May 2020 18:49:21
Surely the dissenters of an enlarged prem, argument could be easily voided if they did not play either of the Cups. This then would equal the 4 or six extra games they are worried about. They would even be financially better off as the crowds would be far greater (esp if one of them is Leeds)

2.) 21 May 2020 23:48:46
Leo it wouldn't be less games really as most premier teams play largely their 2nd team in domestic cup competitions.

3.) 22 May 2020 13:56:35
I see your point Canada but it's still the number of games immaterial of what teams they play. If the want to play their reserves against us and the Baggies, so be it.

Today feels like the most disappointing day I've ever had as a leeds fan. What would probably have been the most glorious end to the season now feels so flat. This far and away surpasses getting relagated at Bolton losing at Histon, falling into league 1 at home to Ipswich, losing to Valencia, and even imploding in play offs to Derby. Any talk of declaring the season null and void is just an outrage. How can 80% of a season count for nothing. Premier league clubs rumoured to be blocking a 22 or even 23 team league based on too many fixtures whilst screaming poverty are beyond a joke. The revenue they will all surely need could be vital. Do away for a season at least the 2 cup competitions they all, with the odd exceptions completeley disregard and blatantly disrespect. This would more than compensate for the extra fixtures created by increasing the EPL. My fingers are crossed that fair play happens but as we all know this is leeds we are talking about. Having said all that i do appreciate this is football and all my sympathy goes out to people who have suffered personal loss during this pandemic.

Agree with everything you say Andy
Also a closed shop PL would be a disgrace and should be legally challenged.

2.) 02 May 2020 16:32:26
Totally agree with all of that Wakey.

3.) 03 May 2020 11:34:23
Dont get too down yet. We don't know what's going to happen and we might still go up.

Watching that cockney fraud Harry Redknapp on mrs brown, yes that's how bad its got, tell one of his un funny yarns about using a spectator as a sub for lee chapman and be a better player got me thinking of all his goals for leeds and which ones stick in people's minds. I would go for the obvious winner at sunny Bournemouth. Any other suggestions?

JAN 1991

The sublime goal involving Dorigo playing it down the line and Speedy's sumptuous pinpoint cross onto the head of Chapman DIRECTLY after Sheff Wednesday had cheated / dived to get an unjust penalty

. JUSTICE PREVAILED however as Leeds thrashed Sheff Wed by 6 goals to their cheating 1 ' goal'

. loved the look of supreme satisfaction on Sgt Wilko's face # sweet happy days.

2.) 13 Apr 2020 12:46:21
my fav Lee Chapman goal was his volly from outside the box. I believe it was the only goal he ever scored from outside the box. Not a great footballer but a great goal scorer and one of my fav players.

3.) 13 Apr 2020 14:04:43
Yeah I think I recall that goal BW ( against Ispswich if I recall correctly) . when he came back briefly for a short second spell?

4.) 13 Apr 2020 14:05:56
Correction typo above Jan 1992 ( not 1991)

There is such a small dividing line between what is seen as a great performance and an abject one. If we had just stuck away 2 or 3 very gettable chances today the whole tone of comments would have been different. The fact is though we didn't. We do play great football.

We don't need a plan b. Plan A works with a good striker to finish off all the chances plan A creates. Bielsa biggest weakness seems to be blind loyalty. If only he had shown that to Pontus. He was the biggest catalyst in our recent history in bringing the team and supporters together.

Was he so Unmanageable? Managing 18 or so different characters is a sign of good management. Was that picture of him after Derby against advertising boards so bad. He was devastated like all of us. Perhaps he felt the need to be on his own. Bielsa has to tweak personnel now nothing more cos our plan A with a finisher works.

Had Harrison’s effort gone in off the post early doors, we would have been looking at a rout. Yet again, everyone is to blame for missed chances, not just Bam.
Very disappointing today over all tho. Wigan showed what we showed in the 2nd half vs ‘wall; passion, aggression and urgency. We lacked all 3.

2.) 01 Feb 2020 20:21:55
Excellent post Andy .

3.) 01 Feb 2020 20:29:45
Andy, Word has it MB is a great football manager but less of a man manager.

4.) 01 Feb 2020 20:45:11
Andy on the contrary EVERY manager should have + should use a plan b . No 2 games are ever a carbon copy of each other .
A good few on here have been saying that paddy wasn't the man to regularly stick away those 2-3 chances you speak of .

Surely you would agree that a plan b incorporating 2 strikers would have worked today, if 1 ain't scoring then surely the other 1 is.

I do agree that the loyalty thing is so infuriating, there's a few on the team who could do with being dropped, but that raises another BIG PROBLEM we have, this small squad rubbish, coupled with the fact that we really don't have any proven quality replacements in key areas .

5.) 01 Feb 2020 20:58:04
I may agree with "proven" Chris but sometimes I think an U23 gamble is not too much of a gamble McAlmont, Boghuz, Edmundson etc etc. I think anyone of those will hold their own and not let us down.

This result has to be a line in the sand moment for 2 or 3 players. Do I think it will be? Sadly not. Completely gutted tonight.

1.) 01 Feb 2020 17:57:38
You just know Bielsa will start with Bamford and probably the same starting team against Forest.

2.) 01 Feb 2020 20:28:49
I felt physically sick after that game. Gutted doesn’t even cover it.

3.) 01 Feb 2020 22:03:41
It f, s up your weekend for. sure . That horrible feeling watching your team drop points to a "lesser " opponent . Tonight Matthew I going to be VICTOR MELDREW 😂😂.

I would take ppg here and now but for the looming danger of the prem not completing their season and adopting a closed shop mentality and refusing to relegate anyone and refusing to increase the number of clubs in prem next season.

I agree. The system or plan A doesn't need changing. What needs to change is the calibre of player on the end of chances created by plan A. As for KP being overrun in midfield berm White that is more of a reflection of the players around him at times. Respected pundits like Danny Murphy put him in and around the England squad and at a 30_40million valuation. Think I'll take his opinion whilst respecting your entitled to yours.
