If it is confirmed that we've signed this Hamburg lad, then I wouldn't be surprised if that's not our business done for this window. Rads did say all of burnleys Β£22m million they kindly gave Us for wood and Taylor would go back into the squad, but he didn't say this window. They seem sensible and maybe they'll keep the vast majority of the money for January and use it wisely on what is needed then.

1.) 29 Aug 2017 22:20:47
Why not put some into the academy? I'd rather develop our own stars than overpay for average English players.

2.) 30 Aug 2017 03:39:25
Pretty sure he's already putting money into the academy.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 13:53:19
I think Cibicki will be the last piece of business. Lasogga will already cost us around Β£2million in wages so even though its a loan its not without cost. Cibicki for about 1.5mill, already paid Β£1.5 (eventually) for Grot and save the rest for another time. 3 players for less than the price of one.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 03:26:38
I don't think there will be a single leeds fan that isn't now glad our striker has gone. What a cracking bit of business. 3 players and half of ER for him. It makes you laugh really.

20 Aug 2017 20:42:28
Is it just me wondering why this wood medical/transfer has still not yet been completed! ? I'd have thought it would have been done and reported by now

Curahee

1.) 20 Aug 2017 20:55:57
Bound to be delay on a Sunday. Think the next meaningful update as in announcing a completed transfer will occur around 5pm Monday.

2.) 20 Aug 2017 21:12:37
Second thoughts? 😜

3.) 20 Aug 2017 21:21:14
Probably George. just thought he'd pretty much agreed everything. Maybe sg. maybe he got a memo saying 9am at the ethihad and actually thought the dream move was to Man City!

4.) 20 Aug 2017 21:36:47
Think he had a look on rightmove and realised what a complete hole Burnley is! Good riddance #sidebeforeself Keep Charlie warm on the bench on those cold miserable match days pal . πŸ‘‹πŸ»πŸ‘‹πŸ»πŸ’°πŸ’Έ

5.) 21 Aug 2017 08:25:35
Transfers don't usually go through on a weekend - it is likely to happen today.

15 Aug 2017 14:05:57
Something nobody had mentioned. if we do get Β£25+m then could some of the money be used for a move for Delph? Would he be a solid ball winning midfielder we need?

Curahee

1.) 15 Aug 2017 16:08:14
Not sure we need another midfielder before strikers or CB's

2.) 16 Aug 2017 13:08:37
Wages? And I agree, we have midfielders coming out of our earholes.

27 Jul 2017 11:42:41
So the tactical genius that is monk is planning to spend Β£7m on Ashley fletcher! This is another reason I'm glad he left, if we gave him any money at all we'd have tropical fish in reception again in no time with the way he's flashing the cash! Also why has he bought another striker? that makes at least three they have.

now I'm not claiming to be a pep type coach, but if you are obsessed with only 1 formation how could three players fit one position? unless he thinks no body would notice. perhaps this is his new plan b, playing with thirteen on the pitch! πŸ€”

Curahee

1.) 27 Jul 2017 12:28:03
Love itπŸ˜‚ The mans tactically sound, but his off field decision making is appalling. Braithwaite is a good signing, assombalonga isn't, fletcher wouldn't be, they already have gestede and nugent, suppose he's just covering his srse incase teams work him out

2.) 27 Jul 2017 13:20:51
So glad he has gone. Just don't like the bloke. No plan b. No tactical awareness
And no idea what to do with a good war chest it seems. He can have as many strikers as he wants if mid start off as we finished, they won't see the ball.

3.) 27 Jul 2017 13:27:59
Samo, teams worked us out and he totally changed the side and the formation and the then the opposition didn't know what to do! if I remember correctly we won all of our last 10 games 3-0. πŸ˜‹

4.) 27 Jul 2017 14:07:26
Β£7m . West Ham must be struggling not to giggle There's better players to be found abroad for a fraction of that Doesn't fit in with the current policy of buying young and unproven with a potential high resale value Same with Flint. Decent Championship player or Swedish international at same price? Easy call that one.

5.) 27 Jul 2017 16:34:29
Really woody! Struggling not to giggle? i think they're pissing themselves all the way to the bank! Isn't it the equivalent of someone giving us Β£7m for antonsson?

6.) 27 Jul 2017 18:39:12
Monk doesn't have a clue about transfers. Hence the numerous Swansea rejects he signed last year.

7.) 27 Jul 2017 21:53:17
Yeah SG totally agree, Bartley who πŸ˜‚

Got to say I'm not a huge fan of the formation we play, especially without having a 'batty' type number 4.
It is wonderful when it works and allows us to stream forward, such as vs burton, but if it doesn't work we're open in the middle. It also takes a lot of subs and tinkering if it doesn't work, as essentially you have to bring people like roofe or siaz back and they aren't that type of player. I don't have a solution and don't claim to, as more solid middle players don't have the goals and creativity. Perhaps we need to go out in January and focus on getting two proper number 4s rather than more attacking players

Curahee

1.) 17 Sep 2017 09:46:53
We have a proper number 4.viera

2.) 17 Sep 2017 10:31:57
Not sure I agree, but if he is then he needs to play!

3.) 17 Sep 2017 11:56:48
I went to the game yesterday curahee and in my opinion that game was for players like Dallas/viera, I can see why he didn't change a winning team but we got outfought all over the pitch, they picked all the 2nd balls up. don't really remember us creating anything of note. jury still out on alioski for me personally, not sure if he's been over hyped, lassoga needs to be a lot more phisical but that will come as he gets more used to the championship, just hope Pontus didn't pull his hamstring and just felt a tweak, we only have shaunassey available for Tuesday night as it stands and he's a make shift centre back.3 points next Saturday and we will be back on track. πŸ‘

4.) 17 Sep 2017 12:15:24
Agreed mate. slightly concerned I have to say. not because we lost, more the manor of the loss, however I'm sure TC will have been in at 8 this morning poorinf over the tapes and things.

5.) 17 Sep 2017 12:17:13
We were all fans of the way we played yesterday morning

6.) 17 Sep 2017 12:25:21
We have the squad what we need is a system to cope with the pounding we will get from physical teams. I too do not really have an answer, but merely a suggestion, and at the end of the day have full faith in TC. Would it be advisable to play 2 DMs in those type of games or at least play Viera+Phillips with the instructions not to get too cavalier and think destructive and defensive first. As a wild thought I would even try Berardi in a DM role?

7.) 17 Sep 2017 12:27:44
Well said Wex, and I'm still a fan of the way we play, just a bit disappointed with losing. Having said that, McFlytipper scored the last time we won at the den.

8.) 17 Sep 2017 12:46:58
A week ago we were slating bridcutt for being too defensive and praising the fact Phillips was encouraged to be more attacking. Now we need to change that after a bad result and they will be plenty of good teams coming from the den after losing by a goal

9.) 17 Sep 2017 13:19:59
Wex that's what I'm saying when it works it's great, when it doesn't we get totally pounded. It's a learning curve that TC is having, when to use that formation and when not to. I'm sure he'll have learnt a lot from yesterday

10.) 17 Sep 2017 13:25:41
Still am a fan of the way we play wex, never said I wasn't, not every team is going to 'let' us play, millwall started strong, bullied us more or less all over the pitch, saiz, Hernandez and alioski were virtually anonymous, some games it may be that we need to get a foot hold in the game And introduce them off the bench once the game has opened up and calmed down.

11.) 17 Sep 2017 13:30:56
Sounds sensible to me. TC knows what he's doing, after all look at what he did in his interview, pulling the team and performances apart from
LAst season, so I am sure he'll sort it

12.) 17 Sep 2017 19:21:38
I think curahe is a basketball fan.

13.) 17 Sep 2017 19:26:51
I really really hope we don't hit a bad run because some folk will start blaming the formation/manager/left back and anybody else. let's enjoy being top of table with some top notch performances so far. MOT

16 Sep 2017 16:58:49
Oh dear! just a blip I hope!

Curahee

1.) 14 Sep 2017 21:03:01
You can be whatever you want mate, in my yellow blue and white glasses I'm thinking how good it would be to stay unbeaten through Christmas! I am so excited by the way this team works for TC, he is such a different man Manager to Monk, not once last season did I see the players respond to Monk like they do TC! Have you seen Cardiff game live on Sky on 26th of this month?

2.) 15 Sep 2017 10:22:31
Saw a post that it has been advertised. Totally agree about the players and TC! Just look at boro and monk now

13 Sep 2017 18:46:00
Best thing about last night wasn't the goals, the clean sheet, or even going to at this early stage, it was winning ugly! Digging deep, grinding out a good result under a lot of pressure! That's what champions are made from!

Curahee

1.) 13 Sep 2017 19:15:09
I can sort of understand what your saying Curahee but I don't think we won ugly, last season we won ugly when we played bad but last night we still held our shape and we kept our attacking options! The difference in my opinion is we played a team who were looking to really stop our fluent play, they did to a degree but apart from Aylings goal line block we were always ahead, if this was last season we would of panicked and lost our shape allowing them to score in the final minutes, you see we didn't have a plan B then and now we do and a lot more on top! Although under pressure we still played our style while soaking up all they had. We looked a little tired in the final quarter but we still looked good. People are saying we have only played teams at the bottom but if those teams had beat us then they would be in the top ten so it's to early to judge it that way! I do think we have the best squad in The Championship therefore I think we will stay there! MOT

2.) 13 Sep 2017 19:39:08
Maybe digging deep would have been a better phrase. I don't see anyone apart from wolves challenging us act tye moment. It's very early but I'm not looking at the fixtures thinging ah that ones coming up!

3.) 13 Sep 2017 20:06:20
We have some tough ones coming up now mate, Millwall away, Burnley away, Ipswich home, Cardiff away, Sheff Wed away, Reading home! If we are still top and in the cup after that lot then we are dining very well! But to be fair I haven't seen many better teams than us in the league, what do you reckon Curahee? MOT

4.) 13 Sep 2017 20:49:48
From what I've seen there aren't any games that I look at and think we will be lucky to draw. I just honestly can't see at the moment any better teams in the league. We're rock solid at the back, solid in the middle and with so many options up front / creative players that I honestly think opposition managers don't know how to even begin to guess how we will set up.

5.) 13 Sep 2017 21:51:13
Totally agree pal but it's inevitable we will get beat sometime and it's going to hurt, that will be another test to see how we bounce back from it! But I'm with you, either to much optimism or I'm so far up my own LUFC backside, I just don't see any fixture a problem like some were last season! You know what mate, I'm just so going to enjoy this season no matter what because we have got a team not just a couple of players but a whole team who want to wear that shirt and a manager who in my opinion is a gem and an owner who loves us! So no matter what I'm so happy and I love buying the papers after a game! MOT

6.) 13 Sep 2017 21:53:18
Do you get to many games Curahee? I only get to the home ones on a weekend due to work or if I'm working from home I will go to midweek and sometimes away if my mate doesn't go! MOT

7.) 13 Sep 2017 22:05:00
Mate I don't. i'd love to, but family, job, distance and re-enactments all limit my opportunities

8.) 13 Sep 2017 22:57:01
Family and commitments are always first priority mate so totally understand. Never had kids, never really wanted them and not married but have a partner and she is a Children's Nurse in Manchester so I do get a lot of spare time which is usually spent with my two dogs who are like my children! MOT

So will Simon Jordan get the same treatment as Massimo did regarding sacking managers now?

Curahee

{Ed003's Note - probably not lol}

1.) 11 Sep 2017 22:27:42
I doubt it. Jordan left years back Mr Noitall. Massimo got stick not because he fired but because he hired managers on a whim and on the cheap and soon realized they were pony.

2.) 11 Sep 2017 22:39:17
Is that because he's not st palace any longer ED. ? πŸ˜‚Steve parish is the man does the hiring and firing. πŸ‘βš½οΈπŸ˜ƒ

3.) 12 Sep 2017 06:47:56
Meant Steve parish. sorry

Totally agree sg. if he's only good enough for the championship then clearly no prem team is going to go for him, therefore that leaves the championship teams. none of those can afford Β£18m for one player without going over FFP rules, so it's just a brainless bit of business from Newcastle. Β£10m perhaps up to Β£12m, but Β£18m is just crazy

THought toon needed to sell! now surely Β£18m for a player who's great in the second division but can't get in their team in the top division is sort of pricing him out of all moves.
