And so onto tomorrow, everything would suggest that it's going to be a high scoring feast of attacking football! So the good bet would probably be a 0-0 draw! Prutton thinks 3-2 to us. I don't normally go for draws but I've got this funny feeling about 3-3 with us pulling it back in the last moments of the game. I hope I'm wrong because I'm going to be there and not sure my heart will take it!

I donā€™t think neg posts are wrong, some people are waiting for our form to dip because thatā€™s what usually has happened if weā€™re being honest.

If you want to use the automobile analogy, I think during the course of our season so far at least one of our wheels had already come off and the car keeps on going. Weā€™ve probably lost a wing mirror as well and the exhaust is dragging along the floor. Thing is we are still doing 80 in the outside lane! Roofe and Bamford out of the team for periods, Hernadez too. Many other injuries . Blackman and Baker return to the club. Saiz returns to Spain. During the course of the season weā€™ve played, Huffer, Davis, Aaapo, Clarke, Shakleton in league games. Oh yes and one of the clubs employees was caught hiding in some bushes.

I guess itā€™s a sort of ā€œis the glass half full or half emptyā€ sort of question! Is our success in the face of considerable adversity a sign that whatever happens for the rest of the season, we can overcome it and go up? Or does it mean that sooner or later disaster has to be waiting around the corner and weā€™ll be sunk or to continue with the car, weā€™ll spin over and finish in a ditch!

There is no question we have done brilliant this season up to now. It is only my own personal opinion that I felt a couple of quality additions in the January transfer window would have strengthened our hand. We all know that not strengthening in January arguably cost us at least a Play Off place under Grayson and Monk, I just hope it doesn't happen again. Three points today would be brilliant to open a bit of a gap. I would like to see Brown make the bench as he might just add something if we are struggling a bit. MOT.

You have got to look at what Brom did and ask why did we not get any outfield players. Did they need those players, not sure they did but they want promotion and know the next 3 months are going to be hard so better safe than sorry. I have faith in the players we have but we did need a couple more in. Games are going to be more intense now so injuries and bookings are going to happen. Hope Brown and Bamford can keep fit as i think we will need them. And if as Radz said James was our only target why wait until last 48 hours to get serious with a bid. Naive in my opinion.

The one thing to come out of this was, I believe, in a Bielsa press conference. I think he intimated that James was identified and chased by Orta and not instigated by himself. That's not to say that he was in any way opposed just all alog my bottom line was; if MB wants him it's good enough for me.

Rads is approaching the end of his second season in charge. He bought the ground with separate funds than those running the club. Saving Ā£2 to Ā£3 million a year in rent. He paid Ā£45m for the club. Alongside the annual income of Circa Ā£50m? . He has received Ā£10m from SF49'rs. Ā£16m for Wood, Ā£7m for Viera, Ā£5m for Saiz and Ā£5m for Charlie Taylor . that's Ā£43m on top of turnover income . Early doors we were also advised there was a substantial transfer kitty which was conveniently forgotten about, Ā£10 to Ā£20 million if I remember . 60% of annual income is spent on wages. We have a couple of loans in, offloaded loads of wages sending young players out on loan . Douglas and Bamford are the only 2 we have laid out any proper money on . The fans spend all there hard earned wages. We are top of the league and we could not get any players in to strengthen the squad with only 17 games to go . 2 or 3 decent loans would have done. Think if Rads and Orta mess this up over saving such a small amount of money compared to the prize on offer, do they really deserve this great club.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2019 17:56:05
But did Bielsa want loads of money spent? If that would destabilise the existing squad which has got us top of the league then it is all a bit pointless? Not just about buying better players, but having a better collective squad including the togetherness and spirit which has been so evident this year compared to previous. Worth risking that by blowing Ā£39m in some big names - think Bielsa says no?

If we fail I am sure many Leeds fans will remind those in charge about this window when it seemed obvious to all we need to strengthen.
However we are top of the league and we are the ones that need to be caught by the rest. Two huge games coming up in Norwich and Boro. 6 massive points!

A good post for me 1970. Firstly, we don't want players for the sake of it, but I do believe a couple of quality signings would have been a great boost, providing the Manager wanted them. I have never bought in to the waffle that Kinnear has come out with since he arrived, flogging Season Tickets seemed to be his priority. But it is gone now so we are left with what we have got, so let's get fully behind the Manager and his Team because we can still do it this season. Ed. do you think we are that skint that we couldn't afford the initial down payment? . that's a big worry if we couldn't get 1.5mil together? . lots of things flying about from both sides and it's who to believe? . cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not sure you are skint. I think it is more that you have a poor credit rating from previous owners which makes it difficult to get the short term loans clubs tend to use to fund transfers. Clubs do not sit with large cash reserves ready to stick in a carrier bag for a transfer, so they usually get a short term loan which is paid back from income.

I will have to see if I can find the explanation of how it works my friend once gave me. She was a decision maker at a finance company that worked with Spurs and other clubs, to provide those short term loans. They did other things too, but she worked purely on that side of things and, when she got married, because her hubby didn't like her to continue to talk to old erm friends, she typed me up a full explanation. I will dig through my files and see if I can find it.}

01 Feb 2019 15:45:42
Ok, thanks. I would have thought we would have that amount without having to borrow it, and if thatā€™s the case, unless we get out of this league or sell players whilst in this league itā€™s going to be hard for us to get any new players?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no club in European football, that I am aware of, carries that amount of cash in the bank, other than Arsenal. And that is more for Kroenke's own devices, as he uses that as leverage to borrow against. You are right, though maintaining full houses would bring in the money, and give something for the club to leverage for a loan in the future.}

01 Feb 2019 20:36:11
I know I'm old and feeble-minded but if there's nothing in the bank accounts where's all the money?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - like most businesses in the UK, clubs run on an overdraft. Money coming in is usually going straight back out paying salaries, back payments on transfers, agent fees, electricity bills etc. Clubs (as do most businesses) leverage future income to pay for things like transfers, then pay back the loans afterwards. It does not seem the best way of conducting business to me, but it is the way the Western world does it. Speculate to accumulate, rather than saving up and paying for it when you have it in hand.}

01 Feb 2019 13:33:46
Feel sorry for James if he really wanted to come . Rads and Orta were taken in big style and need to ask themselves some questions . Think Swansea did not act in good faith and this reflects shamefully on that club. Hopefully we can use it as a positive. As I said earlier "what does not kill you makes you stronger" . On another point how passionate a dislike does McBurnie have for Leeds. As a Leeds lad who received some of his early schooling through us you would imagine he would be a little be more appreciative or a least try and hide it.

Reflecting on the January window, we have brought in an experienced goalkeeper (which we definitely needed) and an attacking midfielder for the future. On the negative side, we have lost 3 players (Saiz, Baker and Blackman) from the senior squad and replaced with one player (Casilla) . There was clear intent from the club to sign James and there was clear intent from the player to sign for the club, unfortunately as we had only one target (Radz words not mine) , we put all our eggs in one basket and gave Swansea the opportunity to put a spanner in the spokes. I am not advocating that we bring in a whole raft of players as it would disrupt the squad that has got us to top of the league however I still believe that the squad required a couple of experienced players (loans rather than permanent) to help spread the load. The decision to focus our transfer efforts on one player, towards the end of the window, represented a gamble. The belief that Brown and Bamford will return from injury and will play an effective part in the run in, again represents a gamble. The belief that we will not suffer additional injuries in the run in, again represents a gamble, particularly as we have been suffering regular injuries in training and Hernandez, a player who we are reliant upon, has been close on a couple of occasions of missing games through injury. Yes, we can call upon a talented group of U23s however I feel that these players should be brought into the squad to support, not filling the entire bench as we have done in the past few games, again a gamble which we got away with. Look, we have the best coach in the league and a good group of players and therefore we still have a good chance of automatic promotion. Also, who is to say had we got James that he may not have performed to the required standards or may have been injured in his first training session with us. The point being, is that we have been denied the opportunity to add another player to the senior squad (albeit someone who was 21 years old) because we chose to gamble. I hope that these gambles pay off, we are due some luck!

If your plan is to ask Swansea to loan a player with a commitment to buy later, it might be an idea, to clarify at the outset, that when you say, "we will pay Ā£1.5m initially, with the rest when we get promoted", that you actually mean, "We will take him now, give you bugger all money or time for the transfer window, paying you Ā£1.5m at the end of the season and the other Ā£8.5m when we have been in the premiership for a while", as otherwise, when they realise, they might "sod off, you daft fantasists". Further when they demanded something up front, we could only come up with Ā£750k, which begs the question, where did the outright purchase for Ā£6m bit come from? If you are adopting the above daft strategy, it might have been an idea to commence negotions other than a few days before the window closes. I wonder what Casilla thinks, now he realises that we cannot even manage the signing of a kid from Wales and put only peanuts on the table. We look like amateurs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, it is very common to defer payment and make transfer payments over a number of years. Hence why Leeds got into trouble under Ridsdale, because he was racking them up with no thought to the future. The issue here was that Swansea were no longer desperate to get players off the wage bill with Bony gone and Carroll about to go too. What they then needed was money up front. It does make you wonder how bad are the finances that Leeds were unable to come up with a short term loan to get the cash. Or perhaps they were just unwilling to do so? Either way, there might be a genuine reason why they could not fund the signing up front and so had to try and make the deal the way they look to.}

01 Feb 2019 11:01:57
Thatā€™s a fair explanation Ed not sure where you have your intel from but I have ne reason to state that itā€™s incorrect. It just does not marry with Radz own statement on the subject this morning in which he has gone public with;
1) Leeds met every request put to them from Swansea?
2) That it takes two willing parties to conclude any deal?

Again, I certainly have no idea which side was to blame and I note Leeds fans hammering Radz for not coughing up.

And welsh forums talking of a clear divide between Huw Jenkins and the American owners. This coupled with a less than happy article from James agent in the Telegraph referencing how they couldnā€™t get the lad out the door quick enough, how his client is philosophical about it but certainly wonā€™t be signing a new contract?

Usually the truth lies somewhere between but IF it was lack of funds at Leeds why would Radz say what he has? Surely Swansea can easily blow him out the water, even show communications on the matter? (They did sign the spygate letter) so do not think they would worry about any sensitivities.

Neither club have come out if the affair well and how James performs going forwards, Iā€™m just not convinced we know the truth for sure as yet, well if we do Radz is committing PR suicide!

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I certainly would not put the blame at Leeds door, I just think it was one of those circumstances where the moment passed to get the deal done.

It would be highly unusual for Swansea to show private communications. I very much doubt they would do so.

We often do see executives from clubs arguing over who was in the right and who was in the wrong after a deal falls through. This kind of thing happens probably 50 times a window across Europe. It always just ends up in 'he said, she said' childish bickering.

The key question you have to ask yourself is why would the deal not go through if the agent is correct? Seems to me that his statement, if right, would mean that the deal would be done no problems. So you can pretty much ignore him as just trying to get his player a move. If he was correct and Radz was too, we wouldn't be having this convo.

From what I was told, Radz did agree to meet every request, but not in the exact way Swansea wanted. As in he was happy to agree the fee Swansea wanted paid for the lad, the issue was in how much of it was paid up front. It is a very common issue in transfers, it is very rare for a full fee to be paid up front like Swans wanted. The last time (off the top of my head) I can think of that happening was when Chelsea signed Fernando Torres. Swansea were adamant they wanted the fee, in full, up front. Leeds were willing to pay that (and actually offered to go above it with the right terms) but not in full, up front.

In this day and age of big transfer fees, the terms of the payment schedule are often the biggest sticking point, to be honest. It is the minor things like that which seem to cause more of a problem than the major ones such as overall price. Especially in this case, with a loan, there is also always an argument about whether it is an option to buy or an obligation to buy. A number of big deals fell through on that one point this window alone. The deal for PSG to buy Neymar all hinged on that one bit as well.}

As you know, I've become a real fan of the under 23s this season. I love what we are doing with this squad. To me this idea can be further developed in future years. Under 23, gives you a lot of scope, no reason why players 20-24 can't play a real role in the first team. So effectively your under 23 team becomes your bench for the first team when needed. As we've needed to do this year. If you concentrate on buying in youth at under 18 and 23 level through the lower leagues, it's less of a risk. You get a real chance to see how plays react, train, conduct themselves and they learn the club way and the style of playing. You need a Corberan type figure to act as the link between the two squads. Shorter term contracts, less money and yes you have to be ruthless and move out those who can't make the grade.

With this approach, you can plan for fiuture needs, when key players are likely to move on and retire. First team squad additions become less urgent and you are less open to the mad scramble of transfer windows.

To me this is a sustainable way of building a strong club. I hope that's the plan and if anything let's intensify it.

U23s should be introduced into the squad, not entirely relied upon. Jack Clarke has been fantastic coming off the bench but when starting has struggled against teams that plan to nulify him. Yes, he can only learn how to overcome that focus through game experience but we are challenging for promotion. Is this the right time for an entire group of U23s to be cutting their teeth or should the cream just be getting the opportunity. Also, when push has come to shove, Bielsa has shuffled the senior pack and not used U23s i. e. Not playing Halme. I agree in part in what you are saying Spanish but not to the extreme that you are advocating.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2019 12:03:11
I have supported the U23s for decades, and only missing this season because of work commitments. Although i agree players are there to step up if needed i think we are over reliant on them this season. Luckily we have some talented youngsters but U23 league and championship are poles apart. Development is a key issue in getting players to where they are and getting a kicking every game from some towering center back chasing a play off spot at this stage of their career is not ideal. If a first team player is playing crap or is injured then yes its expected for someone to step up. I was one who was calling for Clarke months ago to replace Alioski then it would be up to Alioski to fight for his place back. However due to injuries we are reliant on young ones filling the bench and if they have a poor game they are slated online and then confidence levels go from sky high to zero. Fact is our first team squad is threadbare and you can not disguise it by adding U23s to the equation. a lot of our U23s have just stepped up from the U19s next we will have U16s on the bench.

Well for the rest of the year, we now have no choice but to work with what we have got, so I guess we will have a good chance to see how it works.

I agree about Aaapo, I think he could be trusted for more appearances, Bielsa has a clear preference to work with those he has worked with longer.

Te the difference in class between the under 23s and The Championship, Iā€™m not so sure the gap is as big as I we make out, certainly not against all the teams. Clarke has struggled due to the amount of attention but to be fair so did Daiz and at times Hernadez.

I think we are stil only at the early days of this approach, more investment in better quality players will give us more options and less reliance on bringing loads of first framers in. To me the first team squad includes at the very least your top eleven under 23s, and you draw on them as you need them.

Iā€™m not saying itā€™s not different, just the gap isnā€™t always as big as you might think and not unbridgeable depending on the players. I accept the point about weight, although thatā€™s not always a disadvantage, but by the time they reach the under 23s, most of these players have played in structured teams and leagues for sometime. Tradecraft isnā€™t just restricted to championship games, these days itā€™s on display at all levels. These players are used to a lot by the time they are 21 plus.

BIGE, I donā€™t think we are too far apart in our approach, just about degrees. I think some players can make that jump and take the opportunity and some canā€™t .

Of the players out in loan . Iā€™d expect each window for Bielsa and Corberan to keep close the ones who they want to be able to use and I think thatā€™s largely whatā€™s happened with the plans been reviewed and amended at each window.

Throwing an under 23 player into the championship is a risk, but these days so is paying up to 10 million for a player and in the premiership more.

All Iā€™m saying is letā€™s get as much talent into the under 23s as possible, school them in the way of playing and see what happens. Iā€™m not sure weā€™re that far away from that. Iā€™m looking to forward to seeing Bogusz play.

I think the benefit of an U23 side that it is like a finishing school for LUFC. Generating players walk, talk and play the MB/ Leeds way. I will always defer to you Spanish but having seen a few U23 games I see the main difference with U23 games as lack of intensity, tempo, pressure. I know we sit atop the division but results are a side issue. Each game is a schooling. As has been proved, it gives us a player who can seamlessly slot into his desired role in the first team. The only (good) fly in the ointment is that the first team is doing so well which brings with it added pressure when they are selected. This is why I believe a solution is to loan them into a performing L1 side (with a proviso that they get X percentage of games) out of the spotlight.

01 Feb 2019 19:04:26
My point being that this season you are looking at an U23 team made up of players who have just stepped up from U19 squad this season some have about ten games under their belt and now we expect them to be first team ready, for me that is pushing it a bit.

Think Swansea were playing a game whereby they needed to reduce overheads and get some cash in . James was only going to leave Swansea if the Bony deal fell through. Once that completed they did not need to sell James and changed the deal with us at the last minute to prevent him leaving . Same as the lad going to Villa. Stitched both lads and clubs up really. Saw some footage of James yesterday at Leeds and his facial expression made me think was his heart really in it. Did not look happy more of a scowl.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they did a did with Tom Carroll going to Villa instead.}

01 Feb 2019 10:23:11
Ed 001 . Villa wanted Fer the Swansea captain . They only got Carroll to soften the blow from what Swansea actually did to them i.e pulling the rug on Villas main target. Leeds were left completely shafted. Furthermore the club left themselves with no alternative or back up plan . Lesson learnt . Move on . Its made round to go round. Hopefully we can get our injuries sorted Bamford and Browne fit for the rest of the season are like 2 new signings and maybe one of the U'23s can come through on the left side?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - actually I believe they got Carroll because Swansea wanted rid of him. They couldn't afford to play him as his appearance bonus was on the large side. His salary was not that high compared to others apparently but they had given him a large appearance bonus. Not sure why, maybe it was meant to be an incentive? But they wanted rid anyway, so it was an easy deal as Villa were willing to negotiate. Leeds were not interested in any other players, so it was either sort out the James deal or nothing. Not sure it is about being shafted though, it is just business.

Like buying a second hand car and the one you want is a much loved car that the owner does not want to sell but you know he is in need of money. If you can get in before he sorts out his money problems you can get a deal done. If you don't sort it before he sorts his problems, then it is not going to happen. No one is getting shafted though if he holds onto the car.}

01 Feb 2019 12:32:20
Yes ED001 but if you are negotiating to buy a player and the seller does not tell you that the player is only available, if, we do not shift some other players out. You are negotiating in good faith and they are not . There are conditions to allow the sale on behalf of the vendor that the purchaser is not aware of. Then if you put all your eggs in that basket as a result of them not being upfront. Call what you may but to me that to me is being shafted.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - but Leeds knew that was the case when they went into negotiations. They should have gone for him before deadline day really.}

01 Feb 2019 13:23:34
Sorry Ed001 as Rads says, we were trying to get him in all month, the way it all panned out think Leeds were naive and did not know what was going on behind the scenes . Obviously saw a bit of a fire sale at Swansea but would not have had the inside info of the financial figures and the changing position on outgoings once certain players had been moved on. Think they really really wanted James but don't believe that Rads and Orta would have been caught like that if they knew his leaving was only dependent on who else Swansea could shift out. Swansea kept Leeds on the hook right up to the last minute while they completed all their other business. Which in turn prevented Leeds from getting anyone else in. "What does not kill you makes you stronger" as they say.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I very much doubt they were interested in stopping Leeds at all. They are not competing with Leeds.}

01 Feb 2019 08:35:52
Don't think you can blame Swansea for trying to limit the damage and play out the situation as well they could. We left ourselves open to it by being so open that we only had the one target.

In the circumstances, might have kept Pearce, just gives us extra options on the left and has been playing back on forward in the under 23s. But when his deal was agreed we probably thought He was coming.

The advantage we have, is the flexibility that Bielsa encourages in the players which gives a squad more limited in numbers extra flexibility. The rest of the season is going to test that to the full and I suspect provide a few more opportunities to the under 23s.

On another note we used to struggle re left backs now we are able to send Pearce out on loan. We are not, however, strong on the wings as Alioski is a far better wing back than a winger. On recent form he has more to offer than Douglas. Douglas has not been the same since he was substituted several weeks ago.

01 Feb 2019 08:25:02
We could still manage promotion. The major problem is Harrison is not nearly good enough and Clarke who has made a major impact will have a number of off days. He's only a novice. On top of that Hernandez has to keep injury free as Roberts again is only a novice. We have little out wide so Roofe is often playing off scraps. We have an excellent work ethic and we keep getting results when it wasn't looking likely. If James was as good as was made out he would have gone a long way towards getting the squad more rounded. I'm not holding my breathe about Bamford and Brown. Norwich will be a good test. Last ten games will decide it.

Hess, if/ when we get everyone back and fired up I still think we have enough to do it. We got to where we are with a depleted squad so whose to say we can't stay there. I have always maintained that the end of February will be the best indicator.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Feb 2019 13:19:32
I think Harrison is learning a lot by playing more regularly at this level of football. Still signs that there is a good player in there. We need to get the very best out of him for the rest of the season. Roberts will be very important. Showing that he can make a difference, fresh as not over played. Clarke, I think is better used off the bench to come on and go all out for 45mins to influence the game. Being realistic, those last 10 games are exactly when we might see the benefits of Brown and Bamford.

01 Feb 2019 08:06:31

Swansea statement says the clubs could not agree suitable terms?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

01 Feb 2019 07:15:52
Do you have medical before terms agreed? Or did they change terms later?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - a medical can be done at any time. It just meant that Swansea expected a deal to happen is all. But then they were no longer over a barrel as Bony left and Leeds wouldn't pay any of the fee up front as a loan fee, so it collapsed.}

01 Feb 2019 07:20:50
Player doesnā€™t go for a medical if clubs have not agreed a deal, would be waste of time. I suggest swans speaking with forked tongues. Would like to act EFL if that is in the spirit if the game and respectful of other teams and more fundamentally own player.

Letā€™s stuff em at ER when they visit.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is not true. Players have been known to take a medical with another club without the knowledge of their club in the past. In this case, the deal looked set to be done with just haggling over when Leeds paid, as Swans wanted money up front so they could fund a signing. Then Bony's move away eased their finances by removing their highest paid player from the wage bill, so they no longer needed to offload anyone. With Leeds still refusing to compromise over payment terms the deal fell through as Swans had no need to compromise either any more.}

01 Feb 2019 08:48:15
Disagree. If it was the norm or more prevalent for players to have medical and then for deals to fall through we would not all be so worked up about it. It happens but rarely and usually only due to failing the medical. Normally when a player goes for a medical the deal has been agreed. If you think about it otherwise the existing chaotic process would be mind bendingly screwed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - disagree all you like but you have no idea what you are talking about whereas I have been doing this for nearly 18 years now and have seen it many times. Why ignorant people always want to argue I have no idea, it is incredibly irritating that someone without a clue refuses to accept they don't know.}

01 Feb 2019 08:58:21
Swanseaā€™s whole approach was at best shabby and at worst deceitful. If I was the playerā€™s agent I would be agreeing with him that there was no way in which he would be renewing his contract with these people when they had basically screwed him over. I would also tell him to get his head down and put in the effort and see what the future brings. The only condition on which I would advise signing a new financially beneficial contract would be where it contained a crystal clear buy out clause set at a suitable value. Ultimately if his contract runs down he can leave freely. If Swansea were due any compensation subsequently it is unlikely to be anywhere near their valuation, based on what I have seen in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you really are making baseless accusations. Swansea were far from deceitful. Disorganised yes, but nothing deceitful about it. They were perfectly open about needing to offload some players to make savings and who they wanted to offload and James was never in that list of players. They made it plain from the start they didn't want to lose him.}

Ed001 thought this was a banter sight. Just because someone has an alternate view or opinion about this doesnā€™t make them ignorant. Only an insecure individual would overreact in this manner. Your supposed to moderate and edit, I assumed. Not lay into people who happen to disagree with you. I donā€™t normally step into the gutter to engage in such verbal fisticuffs but in your case I will and basically call it as I see it. If you find it difficult to take an opposite opinion on board I suggest you find another forum you moron.

Agree0 Disagree0

A moron is the imbecile who is too stupid to learn. Look in the mirror if you are still confused little boy. Now run along and play elsewhere.}

Coffee

Not sure if this reply will get posted, considering the circumstances, but I have also found the dotting of this sight very heavy handed in the past

I am able to call on people who have had administrative roles within the higher tiers of football for way over 18 years and even they say they could not definitively say how or why a situation would occur
Your idea is as plausible as the next mans.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and I am telling you what was said by people who were involved in trying to make the deal happen. Not some nebulous admin clerk who was nowhere near it. His idea was based, like yours, on someone with no idea about what was going on and purely supposition with a clear bias towards blaming Swansea and removing any blame from Leeds.}

01 Feb 2019 14:13:25
Ed001, I have not blamed Swansea in any post, did you hear I did from one of your "nebulous" inner circle contacts that I did blame Swansea?

I enjoy the fact you feel you can interact with the Leeds United supporters on this website, given your not a Leeds United fan (a nebulous admin clerk told me) , however I am unhappy that you feel it gives you the right to call one of the contributors "a moron". Without contributors this website would be as quiet as most other teams
Would you have allowed two of us leeds supporters to call each other morons, or would you have used your editing powers to censor that behaviour?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he called me a moron or did that escape you? Obviously you feel that is ok? As for blame, I was referring to him really and should have made that clearer, but when people get given a free service and feel they have the right to abuse us for giving it to them and to tell us how to run it, then it gets irritating. If you don't like it no one forces you to come here and if you are not contributing anything other than snide comments why bother me? Just go elsewhere if you don't like it.}

01 Feb 2019 15:09:10
Ed001. I didn't see Coffee's moron comment, prior to your reply. So firstly, apologies. I would take exception to that if Coffee had said that to me.

Coffee, fair play you started the name calling

As for going elsewhere. Why? I really enjoy this site and love how informed many of the contributors are.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no worries, I can understand that. As for the going elsewhere, I just assumed by the way you were talking that you didn't really like it as there is so much you feel wrong with it. I understand it is not perfect, nor am I, but when people tell you what you should be doing, rather than making suggestions for other ways, it just becomes annoying. I would have no problem if people were paying for it, but I keep it free, out of principle as I think the net should be free, but still. I mean all the articles are write are because people ask for them, I put in sometimes 18 hours a day and never take a day off, yet every site people are on the editors backs for varying reasons. It does mean the ones of us that spend more time on the sites tend to snap at people. But we spend our time deleting constant abuse across all the sites and it does wear you down, so little niggly things become a snapping point. So I apologise for biting at you and for reacting to Coffee. I should have worded it better initially to him anyway but it does get to you sometimes when people argue without having any knowledge of something when you have just spoken to people who were actually there involved in it.}

Sorry for sounding negative but I can't help think here we are in a great position for promotion once more and we don't improve the squad in January for promotion push.

Been getting messages already from mates saying we're going to throw it away again.

Well that was gut wrenching. Clear foul play on behalf of Swansea, hope the proper authorities will be looking in at this.
I have to say though, I am now a tad worried. I have no doubt in bielsa or what he has done with this incredibly thin squad, but now was the time to really show our intentions. Yes we missed out on James, but where were the rest of the transfers? It is the time to send a strong message to the league, and in my opinion we failed miserably. You only have to look at the teams around us, and the work they have done in this window. Incredible. Some strong strong players coming in, experienced, that will solidify a promotion push for their said team. We have Brought in an incredible keeper, great work on that front, and a 17 year old 'wonderkid' from the polish 2nd division. I'm sorry, but our squad is too thin, has been all season, but we have Survived thus far. I really fear the burn out is round the corner. Hernandez has been well off it, roofe is a great worker, but once he's been found out, finds it hard to get into the game, and we have no striker on the bench to change things up. Yes we have Bamford, but when? Same with izzy brown. When will we see this potential game changer? Saiz and Baker left along time ago, why were they not replaced sooner?

It's not the end of the world that we didn't get this player. It is sad though as he was a player who Bielsa wanted and also sad for the lad himself. Not knowing the true facts but would not be surprised if the blame is on Swanseas part. Yes he is their player and I guess they feel they have the right to do what they feel is in their best interest. I hope that the young lad will remember who is to blame for stopping this transfer when his contract is nearing its end. Hopefully we can pick him up in the summer for less than what Swansea wanted.
