If memory serves he was our first Ā£1m purchase for several years and signing the cheque made KB cry.

Correct Other. I think he did a reasonable job and managed to chalk up a triple Nelson in appearances. Good luck to him.

I keep hearing we are looking for a 'backup' CH for Bielsa first choice pairing of Jansson and Cooper. I hope that's not the case. I have said for a long time Cooper isn't nearly good enough to be in a team challenging for promotion to the Premiership. Look at the goals conceded when he plays as when he doesn't. He is poor at set pieces and he makes too many mistakes on top of that. Pennington is no better so I hope he isn't the back up. He just gets out muscled and out jumped in this division. Quality midfielder and centre back needed by the 9th but preferably before Sunday.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

01 Aug 2018 15:41:38
Cooper is a conundrum! Every manager likes him and seems to have faith in him, even to the extent of making him Captain. I assume therefore that he gets the respect of other players. Perhaps it is his honesty, work ethic, willingness to learn, who knows. Bielsa has watched all the games, seen him in preseason and yet he still seems to get the nod. On that basis letā€™s hope is has a cracking year. He should at least have solid defensive support all around him!

Agree3 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 16:43:27
Can't see the problem with CB Hess. We just need a good CB on loan for a year and after 12 mths Shaugnessy will be a year fitter, Stronger and wiser. So also will Paudie after his loan spell. Both back and fighting for the shirt.

Agree2 Disagree1

01 Aug 2018 17:50:43
Totally Leo. Coops has some shoddy moments, but there's obvs somat about him that coaches and players respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 19:12:25
To be fair bright his positioning is poor but his distribution is good. Plays the long diagonal pass well.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Aug 2018 20:33:02
Sorry guys but IMO Cooper is rubbish, complete liability, poor discipline and no captain by any means.

When are we signing Maddison or Woods?

Agree0 Disagree1

01 Aug 2018 22:25:59
He isn't rubbish, as Bright said he's played under 3 or 4 managers, he was captain last season and voted for by the rest of the team. So obviously he has the respect of the team, considered good enough by more than one manager, show some respect instead of calling people rubbish.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Aug 2018 22:51:04
OK he ain't good then any coach that leaves the captaincy to the players is a sign of weakness Cooper is a liability and can only use one foot whether you like it or not he's not the answer even in attacking positions when he as a chance to score he takes his eye off the ball and heads wide or over his discipline is appalling as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 00:01:57
I didnā€™t say he was rubbish, rubbish was the moderated term. Itā€™s my opinion which I do state! He has done little to impress me and in my opinion we should replace him with better. You canā€™t tell me you werenā€™t screaming at him when he was red carded against Cardiff last season before half time. What a good example to the rest of the squad by their captain.
Iā€™ll support the team come heā€™ll or high water but it doesnā€™t stop me having an opinion about certain players being good or rubbish. Sorry.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 13:33:12
so to replace vieiras song, and to crea1te a new one, to the same tune, hows about this.
Woah, Super Patrick Bamford, Woah, Bielsa is the answer, Woah, Leeds are going up in May, 1,2,3,4.

Well i for one am now looking forward to next season and will hopefully watch some attacking football at last. I would not have said that two weeks ago but we now look balanced down the right and left and imo have signed a top class striker in Bamford. Would like to see a couple more additions especially CB. Think the first two names on the team sheet will be two players everyone wanted rid of in Phillips and Klich. Phillips i have always rated and is the sort who will just get better. Klich was overlooked in my opinion, too classy for the side we had at the time, was hoping he would come back with a bit of attitude. Not expecting great things this season but will take my seat knowing we have a plan and a strong coach who will take us forward.

Fair comments BIGE, I agree and hope that everybody gives Bielsa time and resources to do the job and that he too wants to persevere and become a Leeds legend. Cooper is another one who keeps on defying the critics. Look how ruthless Bielsa has been with some players . I hope Cooper repays the faith and has a cracking season.

Bige, I too am excited and can't wait for the season to start. But then again I am like that every year.

this is the best point in a season - when optimism is high and the sky seems the limit. its only as we get further in that the despair starts to take hold.

lets hope and pray we have a fantastic one this year guys and gals!

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 14:48:18
Totally agree BIGE. Kal was always going to keep developing, and I think this new role under Bielsa will see that development pick up pace. And Klich was never given a chance to settle, which was TC's biggest mistake IMO.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Aug 2018 15:34:55
First season in a long time where I feel optimistic instead of pessimistic.

The late transfer activity has changed our team, and maybe better than the 'money grabbers' would have done.

For those who think we should just pay whatever to get the so called 'best' you have very short memories.

RIP Paul Madely.

Feeling okay lads but would be happier with a quality CB loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 11:26:50
Donā€™t get me wrong I am happy with the transfer activity thus far, good quality coming in and in the main deadwood going out.

BUT when there is talk of investment and a potential Ā£20m transfer kitty am I the only one thinking that the spending over the Radz era is basically nothing (I know there are wages to take account of) BUT this year so far Ā£10m IN Douglas and Bamford and Ā£7-9m OUT Vieira, Antonsson, Gomes and Wieldweld - Similar pattern in previous seasons incomings balanced by the sales of Wood, Taylor, Byram, Cook to mention a few

Good financial management - YES
Ambitious in terms of promotion -?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

01 Aug 2018 12:27:54
The window isn't shut yet. I have a feeling we will have a couple more people come in still.

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Aug 2018 12:47:27
Surely its just sensible ownership, we have sold rubbish players and signed brilliant championship players for the same amount of money? Its got nothing to do with Ambition. Look at derby signed loads players thinking they can cash in on there most expensive player and its back fired. if they don't offload they could be in trouble this time next year.

Who cares where the money comes from we are signing better quality than ever have so yes the ambition is there.

Agree2 Disagree3

01 Aug 2018 13:01:01
Canā€™t argue and thatā€™s pretty much what I am saying
Happy that the incomings are unquestionably of a better quality than that being shipped out

I would add that the appointment of Bielsa is a massive positive (It may take a bit of time but I for one love the thought of the type of football we may witness at ER)

My Point was with the talk of a transfer kitty of @ Ā£20m being available, we still have nearly all of this available when balancing the books so a few further additions now may be the difference if our ambition is the PL (which would be very nice)

01 Aug 2018 13:25:20
I got where you were coming from first time Grabar, don't forget there's another week or so to spend the money tho ;)

Ultimately, the club is in a better position now, than it did in april, in april we had heckingbottom, and okane starting most weeks.
now we have an unbelievably high profile manager, a new look to the team, a formation that's never been used in England, okane barely getting games for the 23's, klich and baker in to replace him, a good loan keeper in blackman, better than wiedwald, Harrison, a number 9 in bamford, a new store which looks great, no sight of ekuban, sacko gone, very little dead wood now. a left back in douglas, chasing city players on loan, good links, new investors, if you don't call that a successful summer then you're just pessimistic.

Agree5 Disagree0

01 Aug 2018 14:15:05
I've been saying it since Noah was a boy. Get in quality, experienced Championship guys who have done it already, mix in some Ppremiership guys starting to drop down and a great coach. NOT 2nd rate Spanish, Italian other European no-hopers but because they don't speak English as a 1st language they must be our saviours, and God help us a Japanese player plonker.
This is simple sense. get to the Premiership, buy it some foreign guys not on the "get lost" book as we did this month, more better Premiership players, establish oneself in the league again, another small clear out and new better again and we move up. look at Burnley.
This is NOT rocket science. we fail because we think too big, and we think need the foreign talent now just like the big boys and we are not that YET.

Agree1 Disagree2

01 Aug 2018 14:21:27
Part 2 . youngsters. Any team like us needs great talented talent coming through, as we do. they need blooded as the season progresses, cup competitions and easier home Championship matches but not the whole 90 mins.
By the end of the season we're in the top 6 with motivated home talent through the ranks dying to play for us in the Premiership.

That's my take. and no more managers who get the job by powerpoint or the likes of Sackingbottom prancing up and down the touchline line he had a clue. he doesn't.

01 Aug 2018 10:03:52
Denayer from Citeh would be an excellent acquisition on a season long loan. He'd probably make a good partnership with Pontus.

Hello fello brothers and sisters, here is my predicted lineup for stoke this Sunday, hope you guys agree!

4-1-5-1 :
GK: BPF
RWB: Ayling
CB: Pontus
CB: Cooper (c)
LWB: Douglas
CDM: Phillips
CM: Klich
CM: Baker
LW: Hernandez
RW: Roofe
ST: Bamford

On defence, Kalvo will fill in as a centre back and wing backs will sit flat. Klich will play the box to box role in favour of Forshaw cause of the injury. Baker will get forward more, and the wingers will stay forward with the wing backs as support. When it comes to creating chances, I feel Bamford and Roofe will be very fluid and switch positions constantly to make it difficult to mark. Then Roberts will come on.

Anyways, sorry for the long post and my positivety, as a Leeds fan I have to be more pessimisticšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.
