Dreadful result and performance, however. it's really not that unthinkable that Ipswich win, lose and draw their remaining 3 (in some order) and we beat Southampton.
It's not quite over yet! I'll keep believing until it's mathematically impossible!
1.) 26 Apr 2024 23:15:59
Feasible but very unlikely.
14 Dec 2021 22:46:39
Clever from Bielsa. Lose badly, knowing any points were unlikely, to force a big reaction and three points at Arsenal. Looking forward to Saturday.

Cool. Optimism. That post gave me a slight lift! ðŸ‘ðŸ».

I just wanted to throw in my thoughts on all the people complaining about Radz and his spending (or lack of) .
Firstly for fans of a club that have been out of the top flight for a long time, it’s understandable to want us to spend to get back there. However, given our decline was from reckless overspending, I’m very surprised that there is a desire for the same again, particularly now FFP exists as another way to be punished for it.
Secondly is the idea that Radz is siphoning money from the club / player sale profits. It is illegal to pay dividends from a loss making company - Leeds is a loss making company. The highest paid director is on £202k so he’s hardly running off with all the transfer money through his salary. You may argue that with £15m of players sold that he can take it all this year, but last year there is a £5m loss and a lot of that £15m will have had a value on the balance sheet so will reflect nothing like £15m on the P&L (I’d imagine Clarke was a good profit, but suspect Pontus and Saiz are little more than break even together) , so Radz can’t run away with it. There are other illegal ways of taking it out if the club, but there’s no evidence of it, and the other investors (eg 49ers) simply wouldn’t allow it - it’s not just his club.
Yes I want us to sign a quality CB and striker, and think we need one, but I think having a go and blaming Radz is out of order. I’d much rather we play within our means, develop the strong youth teams and know we’ll get to the PL eventually rather than gamble it all and end up with fines, transfer bans and having to sell the whole team.

ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘ðŸ»ðŸ‘🻠Brockley!
2.) 21 Jul 2019 11:03:09
Brockley How would adding a quality central defender qualify as "reckless overspending"? We finished 3rd last season so an extra quality player ought to provide the extra push needed. The viable options are all affordable. Bielik Cahill or my favourite Hector. We've brought in approximately £20m in transfer fees so don't see how one more player would see us recklessly overspend.
3.) 21 Jul 2019 11:23:44
He has spent no money this season on transfers in. He has received millions from transfers out. He promised £20m transfer kitty on top of turnover when he took over . This has never been spent. we are all for being prudent with the running of the club, but we need more players in for this season and on top of this he really made one hell of a mistake not strenghtening in January to get us up. It has cost him massively in Prem money and club value increase to save £1m to £2m on what would have been loan players wages. So from where I sit there are a number of question marks. Today in the press there is talk of him buying another club in Italy. Should he not invest in the club he has first.
4.) 21 Jul 2019 11:29:02
Good post Brockley! Not averse to buying an affordable CB, tall and strong but like to see us using White and Pascal.
5.) 21 Jul 2019 11:30:04
1970 Regarding your last sentence, as I see it and I've said this for a couple months now I believe he's selling up out of Leeds hence his desire to find a new club now he has a taste.
6.) 21 Jul 2019 11:35:24
Agree 1970, none of us want to see reckless spending, but he hasn't spent anything and his lack of investment in January was probably so costly. It is obvious that not replacing Jansson could again cost him dearly.
7.) 21 Jul 2019 11:39:46
Brock, you're preaching to the converted with me. I think Radz has done a commendable job so far. Just no pleasing some people.
8.) 21 Jul 2019 11:43:41
biggest flaw with orginal post
FFP if Derby and Villa plus few others can bend rules to be ambitious why can't leeds
answer they can rads wont. lack of money or lack of ambition if rads did what derby and villa did i think we would be in prem now spending 100 million like villa not selling clarke and pontus
second flaw if rads can't fleece leeds why do so many have the hump with ken bates who worked under same rules. if rads can't do no wrong legally how did so many accuse bates of using leeds to pay for his villa in monico?
for me rads is bates with a dogdy accent and needs to do one
what are your thoughts on bates? how do they differ?
9.) 21 Jul 2019 12:00:16
Rads has done a good job, he is looking after his business and the financial investments he has made, the same as every business man should do.
That does not mean he has not made mistakes and his actions are not above discussion and debate. We all want the best for our club, we all have thoughts about the best way to run the club/ team to attain success.
The only person who is calling the shots though is Rads.
This is a banter site and a platform for supporters to air their views and discuss the club from top to bottom.
That is it in a nutshell.
The great thing about this site is it gives different points of view and some insight info on players and how the likes of the U23's are playing.
10.) 21 Jul 2019 11:53:49
Bermo think about what you post.
You think leeds are treated same as other clubs when rules are broken?
Did FFP exist when bates was around?
11.) 21 Jul 2019 12:11:56
Bermo - Villa didn’t bend the rules, they gambled by breaking the rules, knowing promotion would save them from punishment. As many have said had they failed they would have enjoyed watching the villa team get dismantled as a result of FFP. Leeds could gamble and do the same. If we fail (which given our luck generally with big name signings we probably would! ) then the other clubs would enjoy watching us get dismantled.
I agree we should spend money on some signings, and expect there are some due. The Costa signing for me is a sign that there are likely to be more to come - pushing the bulk of his fee into the next financial year enables more spend in this season. I just think that people are unfairly having a go at Radz, when I think he is doing the best he can for the long-term of the club (but maybe not for people who want to go for more a gamble for accelerated progress) .
Bates is different to Radz. Bates bought the club on the very cheap (when in significant trouble) and his goal was to get the club, with minimal investment, to a position where he could sell for a bit of a profit, not caring about the club other than ensuring it stayed in business. Radz spent proper money getting into the club, which was a stable Championship club. The only way he makes money is by strengthening the club and ultimately gaining promotion. Radz is much more aligned to what the fans want than Bates ever was.
12.) 21 Jul 2019 12:42:00
couple of things
yes ffp was kind of in effect when bates was around as it was after we was decuted points for admin
get real when rads went to the efl they explained the loop whole derby and villa did and said rads could do the same he chose not to (HIS WORDS) they will not punish us for that never would
brockley sorry you are wrong Villa, derby and sheff wed did the same thing. they did not gamble they bent the rules
they sold the ground to the owners for profit then the owners gave the ground back rent free. it is a bending of the rules. villa would not be dismantled by FFP as villia and sheff wed are not.
rads was told by EFl leeds could do the same but rads says he has better ethics than that. otherwords he is cheap or don't care
FFP was reason we sold Pontus we could just use the ground but for some reason bates. sorry rads said no . again all his own words. so leeds like villa, derby and sheff wed would not get dismanted you need to know the rules and then apply your thoughts on this. these are not opinions they are facts backed up by actions of other clubs and rads own words
bates had a great team and broke it to bits rather than get promoted because when leeds get back into prem we are hit with millions of pounds of debt which we will have to pay back. bates would rather sell players than face the debt due to deals with cerditors
rads had a golden ticket which he could of gone for doing a derby but instead he sat back kept hand out of pocket then sold pontus and clarke for a song. he also sold Veira for cheap despite MB urging him not to. sorry for me i can not tell the difference between the two other than bates had a cockney accent and was successful in his own business unlike rads who sucks at business and got took to the cleaners in his own area of expertise.
13.) 21 Jul 2019 12:43:13
Radz pays himself 2 mil a year and rising how the hell is that not lining his own pockets. Sorry you are off your head.
14.) 21 Jul 2019 12:48:36
bates also let beckford go free rather than tie him down
rads is failing to tie kp and roofe on contracts you know this is so they can be resonablied sold for cheap in jan
i don't mind i hate KP and would almost rtaher lose him for free and not have him costing leeds on the pitch however i know this is a unpopular view and even i can see it is bad busniness why is rads not tieing KP down yet. to sell him. BATES.
15.) 21 Jul 2019 13:24:05
Berm, probably the first time i have read one of your posts and agreed with it (regarding your reply above to brockley) well done, totally agree and it actually makes sense and has merit ( are you still drinking. lol) regarding another of your posts you state you hate KP, very strong word hate, never hated any Leeds player myself although have disliked a few. At least I now know you posts regarding KP come from a point of view of hatred rather than anything else, hate I think may obscure a person's perspective on reality.
16.) 21 Jul 2019 14:16:40
sorry mezzer your right
i don't hate Kp, in fact everything i have seen of him, heard from him i think he is a lovely young decent man who seems kind and very grounded.
i mean i hate him on the pitch. hate how he plays. I have hated many a leeds player for this. Varny, Cariny, Ruhpka and Phillips
hate the way he can't run, hate the way he bottles it from a tackle. hate the way players run past him like he ain't there and then he pulls them back. hate the way he don't know the position. hate the way he loses players on set plays. hate the way he costs us goals
i have never hated a footballer as i don't know them but hate many a player for what they do on the pitch. also a few england players come into this. hate the way rooney couldn't score for toffee in a world cup.
17.) 21 Jul 2019 14:17:15
and mezzer i am always drinking some would say i have a problem but i don't think i have a problem as i love drinking.
18.) 21 Jul 2019 16:09:25
Berm, dislike would be a better word mate. Phillips is a lucky boy that you were never his boss. Got to respect the guy for making it as a pro footballer seeing he has so many bad faults. Love a drink myself berm so with you on that!
19.) 21 Jul 2019 18:10:31
Has anyone mentioned that it cost £10M to cover costs between the end of the season before and last, I would say that that has gone up substantially for this close season, factor that in to all your sums 🤷.
20.) 21 Jul 2019 18:34:22
dislike is a better word but with me it is a hate. like beradi at left back i hate that as know it will cost us. i say it because i hate leeds losing it ruins my weekend/ life so anything that will add to us losing i do hate
this is why i drink, if i supported city i might be tee total.
21.) 21 Jul 2019 20:59:34
Tut tut berm, you said you didn't have kp! Stop twisting it! You really should not mix your drinks.
22.) 21 Jul 2019 21:12:05
Hate, was the word not have.

I’ve been following the board for a long time, which has been a great way to stay in touch with fellow Leeds fans given being in London it’s hard to get to many games, but haven’t posted before.
I just wanted to say I’m a little surprised by the level of negativity going into the playoffs. I can understand it, having thrown away automatic promotion and the loses at Ipswich and Wigan, but it’s a completely clean slate.
If you check the bookies, who are rarely wrong, we are joint favourites with Villa. Brom and Derby are both about half as likely as us to win the playoffs.
This season our best performances have all come against the others in the playoffs - both games against Derby, the comeback against Villa (and the performance against them last week was good) , the hammering of West Brom (which bettered their hammering of us) . Like other teams raise their game against us, we raise our game against the good teams. These games are massive, and I believe we will put in some big performances. There won’t be any complacency from the players or expectation that they will win, which I think was a feature of Ipswich/ Wigan and Bielsa knows how to prepare the players for the playoff teams.
I’m optimistic that we can do it, and certainly won’t start considering next season in the Championship until that is confirmed.
1.) 07 May 2019 09:59:22
hey welcome brockley,
i know brockley well use to play football there and there is a theatre pub called the brockley jack which is good.
bookies are not often wrong but are wrong enough. spurs, barca, man utd, arsenal, leeds, millwall all favs at weekend and lost, plus leeds will have shorter odds as have big fan base so they have to cover themselves.
my worries is purely form. it ain't been great and teams that normally go up are riding the crest of a wave, histpricaly we ain't great with cups and playoffs but you are right it ain't over till the fat frank. sorry lady sings.
2.) 07 May 2019 11:18:02
Bermondsey, one word, Huddersfield!
3.) 07 May 2019 11:38:31

Agree with Bright, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just that it was Sunday (and today being a Bank Holiday similarly may not see an announcement either) .

Rambo - You might be thinking of Cibicki?

I find it baffling when people suggest that Radz is only acting in his own self interest, as though that’s against the clubs.
If the club does well, his self interest does well. If the club does badly, his interest does badly. Those that want to spend huge sums probably also thought Ridsdale was amazing with all his spending when he was actually destroying the club. Personally I’m much happier to have the Radz approach.
29 Oct 2020 07:55:21
70 points is more per game than we’re currently on, so I can’t see it. That would be 63-64.
I think we’ll have a better idea after the next couple of games, as whilst we’ve started well and the Villa win was impressive, we’ve so far beaten the bottom 2 and the team that escaped relegation by 1 point (albeit on form this season) .
01 Feb 2020 10:28:18
The vast majority of shirt sales go to the manufacturer, as part of the deal for them to be the manufacturer (clubs are estimated to get 10-15%, though maybe more at the lower leagues) . Admittedly there will be this years shirt deal money coming in and a small boost due to increased sales on last year, but it won’t make a massive difference between the two seasons.
The increased sales will however help us strike a better deal when it comes up for renewal.
{Ed001's Note - clubs do not get a %age except in very rare circumstances apart from the merchant's cut when the sale is through the club's own store.}

Baz you’ve once again derailed a thread started with a well written post into a Baz conspiracy theory that “people who have similar opinions don’t get the same style of response as when I post them” (read your posts and then other peoples and you’ll see why) followed by an attack on Bermo’s career (and seemingly making your mind up without actually being willing to do any research or fact checking (ie watch any of his films) - sound familiar? )
I’ve long wondered what you do (or did) for a living that makes you so well positioned to tell everybody (various board directors, club scouts, DoFs, medical teams, managers, players, investors, film directors, every poster on the board etc) that they don’t know what they’re doing and you know better? I’d love to see what your reaction would be if somebody criticised your work in the same way you seem to think is fine.
18 Sep 2024 15:26:49
Which super computer is that?
Given we’re comfortable favourites with the bookies, and a lot better than evens for promotion, it might need some tweaking!
27 Aug 2024 08:40:40
I think that limit’s from the same club, rather than from the EPL.
21 Aug 2024 11:43:35
Baz - not that I think the question is relevant, yes I think Man City would win the league if they sold those three because:
- they would still have a strong squad
- they have a top manager
- they would reinvest the funds in new players
In the context of the Championship it could be argued that all three apply to Leeds right now (and also the bookies / market also agree as Leeds are 2nd favourites for the title) .
21 Aug 2024 07:05:35
Baz - regardless of what I think (which is that we will win the league) , it’s not a contradiction to think that we have the best squad (or will by the end of the transfer window) and will win the league even though we’ve sold some players.
You don’t agree that we will win the league, but that doesn’t make it a contradiction. It’s you pretending that your opinion is a fact (yet again) .
